why g3's still lagging :( - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi
i'm really tired of this lag.. g3 isn't as smooth as it should be.. there's lag in all roms.. (even aosp roms but less)
opening launcher drawer sometimes lagging.. tried some other launchers.. but all of them sometimes lagging on opening drawer..
i wonder why aosp roms also have this lag..!!!! it's very little in aosp roms.. but it's still there.. i've s5 and nexus 4 aside..
but g3 isn't as smooth and fluid as those two..
tried:
and hd rom
cloudy
chupa
ressurection remix
candy rom
cm 12
i hope someone help me make my device smoother..

Man. I really doesn't know why people experience lag. I think its just a placebo from your previous phone.
Have you tried put 0.5x on animations at developer options? I can't say very much because I never see the "lag" that people are always saying here.

Reboot your phone daily. Most of your "lag" problems will disappear

I never get any lag, on LG OS or custom ROM. Do you have the 2GB version, would be interested in seeing a video of this lag.

Choppy scrolling with Sense-based roms

Hi!
I love Sense UI, especially the Virtuous roms. The only thing that really annoys me is the choppy scrolling with all Sense-based roms i have tested so far.
It becomes most apparent in the app screen, the observed stuttering effect seems to me like some kind of refresh rate issue or a grid that the list automatically snaps to.
No mattter how much i overclock my phone, the choppiness remains Must be some kind of software/programming thing...
However, all AOSP or CM roms i have tried so far run absolutely butter-smooth.
Any ideas on that?
Chris
when youre flashing between roms do you wipe data etc? sense is heavy in terms of UI and its hard on even most advanced devices actually(IMO). obviously, ive noticed whenever i have tons of widgets on my screens in tends to slow down. try launcher pro, and if you want pay for the plus version and you get almost all major widgets found in sense and now you can skin and theme them however you want. but i DO feel you pain. Sense is really beautiful, it just sucks its so heavy on UI.

A more decent rom that's fast and not laggy?

I"m seriously annoyed at the fact most of the sense roms or hybrid sense 2.0 + 3, 3.5 whatever, seems super laggy. Maybe it's this phone but for now I have to use this and it just is not acceptable.
Plus my limit number of ROMS due to AOSP not fixing up the voicemail bug with Rogers/Bell voicemail notification not showing up.
So far there is only virtuous G lite that works with VM notification and is AOSP and NOT laggy.
So can someone suggest me a good fast rom, I don't really care about features much, just something fast and doesn't lag 1 second everytime I try to scroll the homescreen or status bar.
I don't know what other people are doing to use those sense roms or maybe they have super patience to deal with the lag.

Cm7 is very fast but lacks graphical features

Try virtuousROM2.0

Pyromod is the fastest rom that I have tried yet. I'm using xboarder's rom now and I am very pleased. CM7 is pretty smooth too but the above two I listed smoke CM7 in my opinion. I gave up on sense, too much flashy stuff that gets old when you just want to be productive. O also look at miui, I was very pleased with that too as far as speed.

[Q] Slow recent apps on Ice Cold Sandwich

Hi guys,
I have a problem for which i can't seem to find a solution through search. I'm on the latest Ice Cold Sandwich and the recent apps function (holding home button) gets really slow after a while. It seems to me that the function holds to many apps in memory causing it to be slow. I tried nova launcher which made it a little faster but not quite solved the problem.
Does anyone know a way to adjust the number of apps this function holds in memory?
Thanks
Not that I know of. And changing the launcher won't help since recent apps list is not related to it. I was a longtime IceColdSandwich user till Lord Clockan stopped active development for it. It's gotten buggy over time and especially because he was blind developing it without a phone to test on. After some use the ROM UI becomes slow overall. For ICS, I'd recommend aospX. It's the most stable ICS ROM. However it's pure AOSP and won't have AOKP/CM features like IceColdSandwich except the quick toggles in the notification bar. I'd also recommend you they the codefireX JellyBean nightlies. They are CM10 with some AOKP features and are more stable than IceColdSandwich in my experience. There a also JellyTime which is CM10 only. Since these are JellyBean ROMs, they are by default faster than ICS throughout. Everything works including 720p video recording and there are no major bugs that hamper usability.
Of course I'm only talking about AOSP ROMs. There are many stable Sense ICS ROMs if you like Sense.

As sashank said, you're not the only one facing slowing down issues with IceColdSandwich. It seems a lot of users are experiencing slow downs in the overall UI after a couple of days using the ROM.
I'm a fan of Sense ROMs, and there are a couple very stable ones around.
Thanks guys,
Might be time to switch to a jellybean ROM then....

Happy flashing
Let us know how it goes for you..
Yeah, I am in the same boat. IceCold Sandwich while formally rock steady, now is just laggy. I flashed over to Jellytime, but my wifi was so unstable at home that I have axed that one as well. I had Jellytime around B7 and had no issues with wifi. R12 & R13 are completely unusable for me. Oh well, time for something else.

[Q] Stock vs rom

Hi there,
I bought a Galaxy Nexus last month (came from a LG 2x speed, waiting forever for an ics upgrade) and I got a question. Been running stock android and I'm rather pleased with that. I had CM10 on my LG, and miss some features of it, like the toggles and volume options. But I really like the stability of stock android.
Since 4.2 I've been experiencing some lag, now and then. Especially when scrolling in Whatsapp. Does switching to a custom rom, like CM10, Paranoid Android or MIUI make the phone notably faster? I read some roms have GPU-overclocking, will this make the lag go away?
And are such roms stable? I hate removing the battery or not being able to answer calls, makes me feel like an idiot.
I know this question probably asked some times, but the rom development changes every month and I couldn't find a similar recent topic. Summarized: should I be rooting my phone and install an awesome rom that kicks the ass out of stock android, or should I better stay on stock?
Thanks in advance!!
Greetings,
Remy

[Q] Aesthetically sensitive guy looking for a smooth glitch free stock 4.2.2 AOSP Rom

Hey Guys, I just want to say that I'm really frustrated. I've been on an OCD-like flash binge looking for a smooth, stable, graphically glitch free rom, and I haven't been able to find one.
Here's what I tried and what about these roms led me to flash away:
- [Chad's 4.1.2 AOSP]. Cyanogen-free Stock AOSP, smoothest of all of them and no graphical glitches (open an app and watch the transitions, most if not all apps will be choppy in their transitions when opening, small detail, but it's there. In most ROMS. Except this one) However, stuck on 4.1.2, associated with drama apparently, and lock screen would be slow to start up on times
-[slimbean, Liquidsmooth, carbon] Latest releases. They're all smooth and apparently stable; however, graphical glitches plague them all. Apart from the transition choppiness mentioned earlier, these roms have a transparent nav bar that messes things up. For example when opening an app, a white bar shows up where the status bar is, even though its for a half a second, it's annoying. Plus I'm not a big fan of so many contradictory options from the rom - I like it minimal and functional, but that's not really an issue.
-{mrom} march 9. After being almost blinded by the horrible orange theme (no offense, just my taste), I switched to a stock theme that was mercifully included. This is the one I'm running now w/ Leankernel, as the status bar glitch isn't there. But the transitions are still choppy at times, as well as any music playing (cyanogen mod issue apparently). RIght now im hoping that his upgrade to the 3.4 kernel fixes many of the issues.
But that's been my journey so far to find something as minimal and functional as the stock that comes with Nexus line of phones. I've tried a bunch of other aosp roms not listed, but so far same experience as liquidsmooth and the others.
If you guys know of any rom that is just PERFECT, please let me know, as I'm 12 steps away from becoming a flashaholic I apologize as I know Isound like a whiny bizznitch, but my inner soul wont rest until I flash in peace.
I to have been on a flashing spree lately. I'm now happy with the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2116531 ROM. Absolutely amazing. You have the option to do just about anything you want with the ROM. Morphology is awesome. You should definitely check it out. You can also add MultiView which is cool.
I prefer the look of stock Google. Even with touch wiz I had some lag and bad battery life. I just flashed back to the anthrax ROM. 4.2.1 but its smooth. Want to go back to 4.2.2 tho Lol. Never ending cycle
