Right I'm trying to change my softness but what ever I seem to do it just won't work, I'm rooted running 5.0 lollipop stock, I've tried softkeyz app and after the reboot it stays the same

I've goggled and goggled and I can't seem to find something that will work to root this thing. While I'd love to have kitkat on it....I'd be happy just to root so that I could freeze some stuff that won't turn off and to use Greenify. Any clues?
Google towelroot. It's as easy as it gets. There's a thread about it in general.
