Issues & workarounds
.
I: No menu button. No customisation for buttons and no softbuttons.
W: Wait for update
I: Recent apps may cause instant reboot.
W: "Disable HW overlays" in Developer options. ?
I: I don't want Sweep2Wake :crying:
W: Then you are out of luck - for now s2w is default on. Activating s2w from script or app currently cause sod after boot. Try to turn it off with an app or script. Let us know what works and what doesn't.
I: My custom sounds are not working.
W: Make sure the folders and files have the correct attributes. Sounds should go in sdcard/Ringtones, sdcard/Notifications etc...
I: The DPI changer kill my network.
W: Yes - instantly - To avoid this, put HOX in airplane mode before you change DPI. Toggle back online when Android has restarted.
.

2015.02.22 SlimLP Alpha 1.0
Main update is buttons configuration.
Video recording does not work. Did it work on previous Alpha ?
Viper4Android is back! Download. Install and reboot. Done. Do not mess with selinux disablers! Just install and reboot.

Yay!
Flashed ~30 minutes or so.
Things working(confirmed):
- Move to SD
- Camera(Stills+Video)
- WiFi
- BT
- GPS(assisted, need wifi/cellular network)
- S2W/S2S
NOT working:
- UMS(default, no MTP yet)
Will keep testing and see what more comes up.
Have to say, nice work for an alpha release.

does it have dark lp mode?

No. Except clock position, all customization options are absent.

This ROM is really fast and more complete. But I found the UMS cannot be connected successfully. So far, it seems only CM 12 can be connected. Really hope it can be fixed.

After only just setting up my phone it has already proved to be a winner in terms of speed. Why is it though the DPI with slim ROMs is by default like it is? Not a problem, just a query is all. I look forward to playing around with my new phone. Many many thanks to @teemo

In cm12 preview my battery drains very fast...is this the same?

@Vad1 I didn't get the fast drain on cm12 but slim so far appears better on the battery to me. When I first flashed it this morning I had 25% battery to start with and got a few hours with WiFi on while setting it up and playing around with it before I plugged in the charger at 10%

I see the same drain as on the CM preview.
It is roughly the same as Kitkat.
Let it settle and give it at least two full charge cycles.
The only time I saw big drain was from Home, that kept the phone awake. It was solved by selecting a default Home.
Note: Battery measuring in system is completely out of order = unfinished

---------- Post added at 01:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:21 PM ----------
only problem with slim unlike aicp is the light sensor in this rom not locking/unlocking screen as in KitKat Slim
But other than that all is good especially app to sd

Good also to see choppy audio has been fixed since slimkat kitkat builds
Cheers

Having switch back to kk or jb now until new recovery or partition layout is worked out as space issues too much for me in L :crying:

Welcome to VanirAOSP. Our mission is to deliver a clean optimized version of Android with subtly improved versions of the features you love to as many devices as possible. we've tried to incorporate and improve our features in a way that makes them more cohesive to improve the overall user experience while correcting any performance regressions and improving functionality..
What to expect:
- This is not a McCopy ROM. What goes into our build is well thought-out and not a bunch of stuff duck taped together because we could.
- maximum optimization. We do our research. We test hard. We build -fstrict -O3 globally and include a massive array of code optimizations and memory leak fixes that we write ourselves and eventually submit to AOSP or Linaro.
- originality in our source. We generate a lot of new commits being features or general code improvements. We are open source to share and improve the community but we also try to make sure we offer a unique experience.
- aesthetics.. hopefully in your opinion
General features:
SU, busybox etc
Stock mode - ability revert to stock AOSP code with the exception of a few custom features we chose to keep active
Enhanced performance.. longer uptime with less slowdown
Custom written CRON and init.d etc
UI and graphics improvements
Custom navbar, navring, and hardware key features
Halo (active display & lockscreen notifications are in review)
Usability improvements like power reboot menu and sound
Animation control
Improved Vanir keyboard
CM's profiles & quicksettings
Additional quicksetting tiles
Immersive mode
Statusbar mods
Clock & battery mods
Lockscreen blur and other mods
Soon to come -> quick cam and flash notifications
Busybox, embedded root, init.d, cron etc
yatta yatta yatta
More to come when i feel like updating the op

Nope the beta build was pretty stable hence no need to reinstall and this goes for all the beta testers.....Cheers am waiting for a battery life review
Well I said that because I miss the navbar with landscape buttons, but aside from that, yeah its good...
And battery life is so good... I charged the battery last night so I cant show you exactly how it did, but it was near 40% and I had like 4:30 hours of display time with like 18h of on time
Right now going for 4 hours with 1h display time and still sitting at 85%. So far so good

hows the camera? same as any other AOSP? freeze for the first time?
Camera seems to work fine, but it seems the NFC service is forcing the phone to stay awake.
Beautiful ROM!! Indeed fast and smooth!! Only issue I have though, EXT SDcard not accessible even with KK SD fixes tried!
Can anyone please clear some doubts :
1. Whether kernel is with the rom and install autometically.
2. Any chance of losing IMEI and hence no network?
3. Can dualrecovery by [NUT] be install with this rom?
Thanks..
Edit : I am lost IMEI...hence no network...can anybody help please..
I did the following:
1. With unlocked bootloader was on Romur 7.1 android 767 version and doomkernel v16 with dualrecovery 121 version.
2. Reboot to philztouch recovery.
3. Flash System, data, cache and dalvik
4. Install Vanir ASOP KK.
5. Install slim gapps
6. Install dualrecovery v121
7. Reboot and no network.
8. Revert back to Romur 7.1 and network back with IMEI..

I have fixed system ui issues by adb pushing SystemUI.apk from my latest 5.0.1 r2 lollipop aosp build - so I presume any aosp lollipop systemui apk will fix it. (all crashes gone - screen off charging now as I type)
Maybe this is a quick and dirty fix for your builds @Untouchab1e?
After pushing modem files, mba files and ril libs to fxp build my cellular connected up - meaning wifi, radio and SystemUI incl Screen Off/On all working :good: more details posted over in fxp cm12 thread

That is due to the AOSP systemui.apk I believe. The reason for the systemui issue in the first place is that the keyguard doesnt connect with the service and hence security settings wont work because the keys cant be handled.
I'll definitely root my z3 if this Rom works and can be used for day to day use..
Hi. I cant download the rom as link seems dead. And thats why im asking, does the sound work with this rom? I flashed cm12 from fxp thread and it doesnt, so I was jist curious, and I will flash it straight away if sound works

Flashrd, for now most of things working, except camera and mobile data bluetooth is not very stable as it has problems with connecting, but once connected (after few tries) its fine
Just to make everything clean, maybe some of issues are my fault because I fkashed something that I should not i fully wiped and flashed your rom, then cm12 gapps from here ( https://s.basketbuild.com/gapps ) and them modem.zip from this thread.
Edit: after some time with it (I will probably leave it as daily driver until it gets on my nerves enough ) I found few other issues:
Some apps have compability issues (e.g. xda loads, xperia z3 forum is still fine but when I go to subforum like advanced development, play store services crashes, and so does xda app. Everything loads in the background, I can see zverything behind the xxx has crashed message, but as soon as I press ok, it quits. Another one is facebook messenger, it is fine when browsing through conversation, but when I try to open one conversation, be it in app or from those small heads, it crashes).
Another issue is youtube (advertisements of course work, but the video I wanted to watch does not, it says "cant connect, press to try again")
Another issue is that every time I try to uninstall or clear data from any app, the phone does a soft reboot (shows bootanimatoon immediately)
The last issue I found is that bluetooth connects to my bluetooth headset, but sound stops working, just like in fxp CM, it just stays at 0:00 no matter what track I try to play.
Others issues are known, like camera or mobile data signal drops entirely for few seconds from time to time but I think it is also known.
I will keep testing it as for now it is workibg enough to be my daily driver so will keep it updated with anything that I find
Found another thing, but I wont really call it an issue and it made me laugh a bit. No matter how full your battery is, phone just keeps saying its low. Battery life is fine, but notification comes after few seconds of cleaning it, and it comes every time. Right now the notification says " battery is low! Battery level : 82%" but lets just call it a laughable feature
@gallardo5 thanks for your detailed feedback. Ive build and uploaded a new build. It would be great if you could check it out and see if there are any changes or improvements. I havent done any huge modifications. But I have been tweaking around with vendor libs and the device configuration and of course, updated CM12 sources which at this point can have a significant impact on functionality.
Thank you. I really appreciate everyone's effort to make this work! I am sure we will get CM12 running well together

KNOWN BUGS:
* CM's recovery is currently broken, so for now, flash a boot.img from any CM11/PA 4.4 build if you need to flash anything. REMEMBER TO FLASH THE PA 5.0 BOOT.IMG AFTERWARDS!
* Other bugs? Let me know.
I'll take that.
Thanks! However, even though TWRP is working, I'm getting the old and much hated "This package is for device: odin; this device is yuga" error. What should I do in this case? Flash PA4's kernel again?
Edit: I did just that xD

How can I try it without re-flashing the RO-oh WTH I'll flash it again and edit this post ASAP.
Edit: It works! BTW I've been using this build since noon and battery life seems to have improved a bit. At least it doesn't get hot as hell when the display is on anymore. The camera (or the touchscreen, dunno exactly) did hung up on me once though, but now it's mostly a daily driver. Thanks again!
Thanks for this wonderful ROM. Is there any custom Kernel which works for this PA-5 ROM. I cannot see fast charge been enabled with this ROM and battery is not as good as well. So, want to try my luck with custom kernel. But there is none I can see for PA-5.
Hello,
i installed it too, and it works great. But i have a few Questions. Where can i change Lock Screen Settings? I must swipe up, to get the pattern Unlock. Second, i installed 2 Month again TWRP from here Klick Klack, and after flashing Kernel, it is still there. How can i get your TWRP? Third, a little Thing i found, that in the advanced Boot Menu, there is no translation. Fourth, is it possible to Set Custom Widgets on Lock Screen? And at last, thanks for your great work!!

It works fine for flashing non device specific things, but when it comes to flashing those things (such as ROMs) it throws something similar to Status 7 error since it was originally intended for yuga, not odin. Something similar happened to XZDualRecovery a while back.
Is there any GPS icon bug in this ROM. I cannot see the icon going away from notification bar even I turn off GPS.
Oh, you're right. I believe there is. I turned location on and opened maps and I could get a lock withouth the location icon on the status bar.

Oh! Have you uploaded the next release as well. I can see the 1-Jan-15 release been uploaded on 3rf Jan 2015. Request you to please update.
After a Day of use, the Auto brightness didn't work correct. It is mostly to dark, and the response time is to slow. Wifi disconnect randomly from Router if it is in use. Sorry fpr the bad English!!
So far the rom is working really fast, only two problems so far
1 - my microphone doesn't seem to work on calls, i will try to see if it works on skype or facebook but on phone calls no one can hear me
2 - sometimes when adjusting brightness while listening to some music or video result in a screen flickering

This ROM was created by none other than the great Martin Coulon (@martinusbe). This was created as a side project during his 'free' time while waiting for GZR's Validus & Tesla builds to update. Now if you are wondering why it is called Tipsy, you guessed it. He was actually somewhat drunk when he made it, and even now, most updates/fixes are done while happilyintoxicated, thus keeping the Tipsy motto. It was initially done for the OnePlus One as a joke, however, the love for this ROM was so huge, it found it's way out. We just couldn't keep it to ourselves. Within a few days, it had spread like wildfire to a plethora of different devices.
Tipsy has a slim base, and only the useful and necessary stuff was added, including a few extra features to keep up with the competition out there. Tipsy fully supports Layers (RRO) and has the Layers manager app built-in. CM is kept to the barest minimum here, and is only added/used ONLY as needed.
I will try to keep this updated as much as possible, but if you feel like getting the info as it comes out along with some nice graphics, check it out here:

@vibhu009 great going!! another ROM from you, so its testing time ... BTW switching to second sim for data toggle is working in this one? Second screenshot that you have given is showing that second sim is selected for data connection. Is the selection holding up, or reverting back to sim1? Nevertheless I will try it.. Thank you very much.

Test.
After a few days:
Goooood things:
a) fast,very fast.
b) beautiful.
c) 200 dpi
Bad thighs
a) NO SERVICE bug.
On lockscreen it is a notification about NO SERVICE (picture1).But my phone = OKNo problem.Calls + 3G data = OK (picture2+ picture3).
b)InCallUI screen delay.
When I make a call InCallUI screen show up after 3-5s.Log InCallUIdelay.
Work process:
1.Start logcat,wait few secodns.
2.Make a call,wait until InCallUI shows up.End call.
3.Wait few seconds,stop logcat.
b) Wifi delay.
On my phone wifi = setup "do not keep alive wifi in deep sleep"
Work process:
1. Put my phone in deep sleep, wait 30 minutes.
2. Wakeup,unlock my phone.
3. Quickly start logcat and wait until wifi = back again (5-7 s).
4. Wait few seconds,stop logcat.
5-7 s is too much.On XenonHD was 1-2 s( maybe you can change this value).
Log = Wifidelay.
c) Display rotation
I can't disable display rotation in Settings.:banghead:
Work process:
1. Start logcat,wait few seconds
2. Disabled 2 times display rotation.Phone can't "remember".
3. Wait few seconds,stop logcat.

The app is like a shortcut for hidden options.. If you dont optimized those apps maybe will get 2 hours of sot but if you do that you will get around 4 or 5 hours of sot..
This rom looks amazing and I don't face any battery drain issues. I am facing issues with the color correction in live display . When I slide the bar it goes directly to 10% and doesn't allow to change the values for all RGB. Can you please tell me a quick fix for this??

Kernal auditor doesn't seem to work properly, like the RGB values changes automatically. I have to manually execute the profile that I created for RGB everytime ,like every hour.
