HTC 816 (Snapdragon 400 (4 Core), 1.5GB RAM) VS. 816G (MT6592 (8 Core), 1GB RAM)? - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
in Germany there is the HTC 816 and the HTC 816G available.
According to the specifications written on the packaging there are the following differences:
HTC 816:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 (Quadcore 1.6GHz)
- Qualcomm Adreno 305 GPU
- 1.5GB RAM
- Up to 128GB microSD card support
- 4G (LTE)
HTC 816G:
- Mediathek MT6592 (Octacore 1,7GHz)
- Mali450 MP4 GPU (700MHz)
- 1GB RAM
- Up to 32GB microSD card support
- Dual SIM
(Note: There's also another version of the 816G available in India which only contains a Mediathek MT6582 (Quadcore, 1.3GHz).)
Personally I don't care about:
- 4G (LTE) support (as my contract doesn't include 4G (LTE) at all)
- Up to 32GB microSD card support (because I only have a 32GB microSDHC card)
- Dual SIM
I have the following questions:
1.)
Are there any other differences existing?
2.)
Which device will offer the higher performance?
The HTC 816 or the HTC 816G?
According to some website the benchmark performance of the Mediathek MT6592 (Octacore 1,7GHz) is at par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.
So it seems like the HTC 816G will offer the higher performance, but it only has 1GB RAM instead of 1,5GB RAM.
3.)
I've seen that in the meantime there are some custom ROMs available for the HTC 816 (like CM11 or CM12).
Are these custom ROMs also available for the Mediathek based HTC 816G?
4.)
According to some website it seems that the HTC 816 will get an official update to Android 5.0.
Do you know if such an update will also be available for the HTC 816G?
Thanks and best regards!

I wouldn't pick a phone with 1 GB Ram anymore, it's a deal breaker for me. judging by the specs, the performance would be almost on par with 816 (Except Mali MP4 chip being stronger than 305) but it's gonna be cheaper than 816.
HTC is going cheap with 816; it seems they're changing its market segment. they're planning to replace it with 820 while leaving 816G for the budget segment.
it's likely that it will get lollipop considering its release date but I wouldn't keep my hopes up about good hTC community support, this being an MTK chip..

Yeah I would go with the 816 for several reasons. First off, official lollipop has already been confirmed for it. Second, the 816 has a handful of custom ROMs, mods, and rooting methods. Not to mention the 816 has official CyanogenMod support. I am currently typing this from a 816 running unofficial lollipop. It really depends on price and weather you care about custom ROMs.

Here's the original story.
"Oh hai there NenaMark2 benchmark with the HTC One X+, better known as the PM63100. Still curious about the differences between the One X and One X+? Good, because the the NenaMark2 benchmark shows the differences between the current model HTC One X and One X+ will live in the 1.7GHz processor and Android 4.1.1 software. The handset is currently running under the codename HTC Evitaire and is said to be on its way to AT&T, according to the folks at LandofDroid".
Take heed T-Mobile fans, we’ve still got plenty of info that says this one will making its own appearance on Magenta store shelves in late September. According to our sources, T-Mobile’s internal codename remains HTC Era 42 and we’re very hopeful that September date doesn’t change because this will easily be one device we’re eager to get our hands on.
The Evita benchmarks are for a LTE Teg3 based XL that has an AT&T signature on the ROM. Since T-Mobile's a HSPA carrier there's nothing that's been reported to link the 1.7GHz AT&T LTE phone that's showing up in benchmarks to anyting T-Mobile's going to receive. All the media outlets are just taking what little info's available and piecing together their own stories from it.
Good news on JB though. That's the first time it's shown up anywhere which means it's being tested. HTC won't launch a carrier phone with JB, especially a tier-two carrier like T-Mobile U.S., without making it available on their global products too.

[Q] Canada GSM Pentaband M 919 Octacore ?

Canada GSM is showing a M 919 Pentaband but Octacore as a Factory Unlocked new Device at $ 399.
I thought the M 919 is exclusive to Tmobile / Metro PCS and therefore a quad core.
Does this Model exist ? Or spec error by GSM Canada ?
If it does exist it would be fully band compatible on all Bands with Metro and TMobile with just a new SIM ?
Also has better graphics chip, though not faster because it's never 8 cores simultaneous, where some new Samsungs (Alpha) can use 8 cores at once.
So what do the Devs and Power Users say on this ?
Thank You in advance.
Its like they combined the i9500 specs and M919/I9505 together. Ive only heard of one octacore. i9500 and of no others or variants.
