Does anyone know why my videos in facebook are blurry with my Galaxy Tab S10.5? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have recently purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10.5 - SM-T800. Up to this point it is the tablet with the best video resolution. With most of it I have no problems. Videos on Netflix are of good quality. HD movies on YouTube are good as well. However my videos on Facebook are always blurry. Even the HD videos such as GoPro videos. I understand that to put videos on FB - you need to reduce the size and resolution so that it fits; however, on my laptop and on my phone it is of great focus and quality but on my Galaxy Tab S it is always blurry. On my dad's Ipad the quality is great of the same video. Can anybody help me with this?
I've tried googling it for a week now and can't get any results. I've also looked at my facebook settings, but the only seetings I can find for video is to turn off auto-play.
Looking forward to your response.
Kind regards,
Arnaud de Korver

Just got my Galaxy Nexus and the YouTube HD Videos look horrible

Why are the videos on my Galaxy Nexus pixelated when watching HD videos on YouTube? I watch 720p videos and HQ is selected in the YouTube player and they are not crisp, they look bad.
How can I fix this?
Nobody has this issue??
depends on the video ur viewing....for example if u look at a 720-1080p music video it looks pretty good =)
but uhm.....theres no solution that i kno of using the youtube app, best way is always to dl high def and dump into ur phone
Havent noticed this issue. In fact its the opposite, watching 720p cideos look so excellent on this phone i cant stop using youtube.
If you watch a 240/320/480p video OP it is going to look like **** on any device, ESPECIALLY the higher resolution screen you play it on. Play Standard Definition video on an HDTV...and then play that same video on an SDTV and it will look better on the SDTV. When you play something of lower resolution on a high resolution display its going to look like a stretched out mess.
Play a 720p video on the Galaxy Nexus and you will be impressed.
This for example has a good resolution and should look great on the GNex. Try it...

Ok guys this is crazy.
I played the video on my channel on youtube with wifi on and the video looks bad and grainy with HQ selected in the youtube player (my video is a 720p HD video). I looked right now again a few hours later at the same video on wifi and now it looks sharp and nice. I didn't change anything....I don't know what happened but hopefully it stays this way.

[Q] Using Movie Studio and uploading to YouTube

With a recently purchased Galaxy Nexus in hand from Sprint, I tried to film a bit of the fireworks with the phone. All came out good but the video was a bit long. I trimmed the video down using the Movie Studio app. Cropped it down from over 1 minute to just a tad over 30 seconds. Exported the movie at 720p and at high quality. I post the video to YouTube for others to watch. After uploading to YouTube from both my phone and home computer I am not getting any sound after being uploaded. My phone is currently stock in every sense of the word, no root. I have tried Googling for help but nothing really helpful. I read a mentioning of possible "flattening" issues but not sure. Had anybody else have this problem? Any advice as long as it is helpful is much appreciated. Thank you for everyone's time.

[Q] Can 10.1 2014 Play 1080p Youtube Videos

I know this device can play 1080p videos as I have tested this across my internal network. But it seems this device does not play videos (in 1080p) using the youtube app.
For example, if I play big buck bunny on my tablet it looks to only play it in 720p. I confirmed this by trying to load it up in the 3rd party app tubemate and it only shows options for 720p. Obviously this is not the best quality available because if you go to the video from your computer there is a 1080p option.
At any rate, has anyone else noticed this and is there a workaround or is youtube somehow blocking my device from the 1080p stream?
Thanks in advance.
I think you need a modified YouTube app that can be found somewhere else on xda, not sure if it will work on tablets though. You can also try Viral floating YouTube app

I have been using JetVD for ages, and it supports 1080p. Usually download clips through that app though, not watch.
Thanks for the replies guys but I think I found my answer. Apparently google/youtube is doing something on their side to make it difficult to get 1080p streams from mobile devices. I checked the thread below from one of the developers and he stated google has changed something to where you can't access the 1080p streams. At least not at the moment

@Ettepetje I tried the jetvd app you mentioned using the latest version on their website and it too suffers from the same problem. Only 720p videos are available for download or watching.
@ChrisNee1988 Thanks for mentioning Viral. The link I posted above is from the developer's thread. That is where I found out 1080p streams are somehow being blocked by google.
I guess the next question is why would google do this? I have a device capable of resolutions beyond 1080p but yet I'm limited to a 720p stream.

Have you tried more than one clip? Not all is available, but many you can find in 1080p, at least on my phone I can.

Yep, I tried 5 different versions of big buck bunny as well multiple 1080p nature videos which I know for certain have 1080p counterparts and still the same result. I tried this on my galaxy note II and note 10.1 2014 and both have the same problem. The weird part is that applications like tubemate will even give me the option of downloading the 720p 3D version but not the 1080p version. Very odd indeed. if you know of any other apps to try let me know.

I tried just now, and I managed to find one, but it took me longer than I'm used to. Maybe they did change something.
Can you watch 1080P Youtube video's from the stock browser in desktop mode?

sorry, I should've mentioned that earlier. I can get 1080p videos to play if I open the stock android browser and request the desktop site. After that, if I select the gear icon at the bottom to choose the resolution it gives the 1080p option.
Unfortunately, that solution is a little tedious. Not to mention it makes navigation a little more difficult when you're trying to watch a lot of videos.

[Q] Bad youtube app quality

Hi guys, by the time i bought s4 mini, the quality on youtube videos is bad. The phone might not be HD but certainly can play youtube videos with better quality. I read that also others have the same problem but the only solution i found was to download a modified version of youtube app but it needs to be root user. Have anyone from this forum faced this problem?? Is there any solution?
Have you tried the app "Viral Floating Youtube Popup"?
Change the default video resolution to 720p or 1080p and your good to go.
oh man really thanx, you saved me. it works perfect

Not sure if I’m only facing this issue. On Samsung internet I can only play videos from home page. And I can’t play videos from the search. May I know if it’s working for you?

My observation was that videos over 30mins tend to either load slow or not start at all, regardless of video quality but the ones under 30mins start instantly. Quality for the density and the size given of the Super AMOLED (360 x 360) display is crisp clear and the amoled colors shine really nice with the *seriously deep pitch black color*
Perfect for short videos while *on the go* :good:
Edit: i will check and update regarding playing videos from search, can' t remember atm.
