[GENERAL HELP] Post Your Questions Here Instead of Making a New Thread - Asus ZenFone Zoom

Many people are joining xda on daily basis. Some of them join the forum to get custom ROMs while some join in order to get some of their problem that they are facing with their phones solved.
There are dedicated threads for ROMs but what about HELP/QUESTIONS??
People generally straight away start a new thread to get their doubts solved. But this can lead to chaos in the forum.
I'm creating this thread as an alternative to *New Threads* that aim to resolve a question.
Not only this, this thread can also become a Database kind of place where people can look if their question is already solved or not...
I request all members of the ASUS ZENFONE ZOOM sub-forum to help and answer some questions posted here if they can.
I hope you guys get the idea behind this thread...

Was inspecting my box of my Zoom again when I noticed the CN at the end of the model name. However my Zoom came with the WW rom out of the box (sealed). Anyone else had the same thing?

Found out another issue. Running a software version from Nov. Tried to update (via SD or internal storage) to the newest version (tried both WW and CN) but not working.
Checked some of the Zenfone 2 threads for solutions but so far haven't gotten it to work. It won't go in to recovery mode.

Seeing how there is no android development threads yet, is there possible community support for this phone going forward? Such as Cyanogenmod? Also do you think there is a possible zenfone zoom 2 in the works?

Since it's basically a Zenfone 2 with better camera, you can have a look in the Zenfone 2 forum. Some tutorials there also work for the Zoom (ZX55ML).
Don't think we will see a new model soon because the current one only was release dec 2015 / jan 2016.

Do you know if any ROMs actually work from the original zenfone 2?

From CN to WW?
Hello everyone,
i bought an Asus Zoom with CN Firmware from tradingshenzhen.com 4 weeks ago.
I installed the Google Apps and switched to German Language and Keyboard. Everything works fine and
the pics are very good.
But sometimes it loses the connection to my mobil provider Swisscom. (I live and work in Switzerland).
Is this a bug or a feature ? Is this an error from the CN firmware Version CN_V2.26.40.83 ?
I have no longer 4G or 3G.
Can i switch to the WW_V2.26.40.82 For WW SKU only ? WW means Worldwide? Or what stands WW for?
Do i have to root the device first?
Please excuse my english, it is long time ago, that i have to write complex question in an american/english forum
Thx and Greetings from Switzerland,
Steve

Why would you bother with a closed thread...? It's obviously going to have outdated/bad info.
The sticky's are there for a reason... they have the most up-to-date info.
Still having some issues with urs so was looking for a different one!
My biggest concern is on the lock screen it Says Voice Stream not Tmobile. I hope it doesn't have me as roaming

What issues? Post in the thread of the build you're running. No need for a new thread... I know you already posted in the GB thread, I recommend starting with FroYo, mainly because it's more updated than the GB build. Less things are broken in FroYo basically .
Anyhoo, for GSM we display whatever the tower broadcasts. If your provider hasn't updated the towers, we can't do anything about it. VoiceStream no longer exists as a company, so I think you're fine lol.

Stock Rom with no Asus apps

Hi there, everyone!
First of all, I'm TRULLY sorry if I'm posting this thread anyhow mistaken.
It's way too complicated for begginers like me to understand the right thread or forum to place questions about devices and stuff like that.
I've searched a lot of threads related to my device but I couldn't find the correct answer to my question, so here I am.
Well, let's see: I have an Asus Zenfone 2. Really like it but I just can't stand those ****ty Asus apps that comes in every device of the brand.
Question is: is there any way to flash the stock rom (I REALLY love the features and settings Asus has on its cellphones) without most of those apps (that, basically, just occupies space and memory) or maybe selecting which ones I want to install? That would be awesome and I appreciate any help that might come in handy!
Many thanks!

5.9.026S Beta 2 Fully working on US X727

Mods: If this is against the rules or in wrong section please remove.
I found a beta version over on another well known Russian forum that is for the x720 and x728 but I bit the bullet and blindly installed on my US version x727 and it works perfectly. No need to install Gapps or format any partitions.
Everything works including LTE here in the US.It also has a sidebar and enhanced theme store with more themes. It may or may not work for your x727 US version but it worked beautifully for mine.
Per XDA rules we are not supposed to post links to outside forums so I will just say it's on a well known Russian forum and the dev is Tora33.I will share a link to it if you pm me an email.
Im not here to tell you all what it includes or what the particulars are. I'm just sharing the fact that it does work on the x727 and since there isn't a while lot for the us version specifically I thought y'all might like to try it.
Does WIFI calling work on it? Last time I tried one of Toras ROMs, it was very smooth but WiFi calling didn't work and battery icon doubled as a power button and I'd bump it on accident occasionally when checking notifications.

I'm running this ROM as well. It works. However, there is currently a random issue with Google Play Services crashing. The latest update seems to have fixed it for the most part, but I still occasionally get a crash.

Making HP TouchPads usable again

I refurbish vintage PCs (Windows 98 & 2000 mostly) and occasionally purchase lots of parts from people who are cleaning out. Recently, one of these lots included a pair of working HP TouchPads. In trying to figure out what they were, I saw that WebOS is a non-starter but that some ppl had put Cyanogen on them. My problems are twofold - 1) I have zero experience with anything related to Android modifications, and 2) all the posts I saw were from years ago and concerned old versions. If they had links to how-tos, they were broken.
In looking further, I saw references to Lineage instead of Cyanogen, so I thought I'd see if anyone here could help me. Since I refurbish 15-18 year old computers every week, you can tell that I hate to see working tech scrapped, so I appreciate any help along the way.
I also have an handful of Android tablets that I got the same way, and a couple of them have issues, so I'm hoping users in other sub-forums can give me some guidance there too.
All the best...

Android 10 bugs/how to roll back

Just updated to android 10 and the front facing is huge because the pixels around it are black making it extremely noticeable now. Is there any way to fix this? Also before updating I saw it said I could roll back easily but it seems there is nothing to let me do that in settings... I really hope somebody can help :good:
Thats why it is BETA. If you arnt commited to bugs, crying in the forums how to downgrade, then WHY IN THE WORLD did you apply in to the beta program???
As there is no way to mannualy update from android 9 to 10 (you brick your device) so i doubt that it is possible to downgrade.
The only thing you can do is to send a report to honor about this problem and wait untill they fix it.

Why are you rude? He just asked a question.
You can probably roll back to Android 9 via USB OTG firmware install, however this will trigger a factory reset and erase all of your data from the device.

I'm confused how you got it because the beta stopped ages ago and no one in the UK received it
Use HiSuite to revert back to Magic UI 2.1.0. Connect phone enable HDB and click on update select previous version.

Friend im not rude. But it is BETA participation software, on which you will get bugs, mishaps and apps that wont work because of incompatibilities. When you participate in this program YOU as a good Samaritan-for free, catch all of these problems, submit errors to manufacturer so they can acknowledge, fix and make final/stable version to roll out worldwide.
If you are not ready, to actively participate in the program- living with bugs and catching them. WHY JOIN THE PROGRAM?!??
'Just because' you can get newer android on the device 'faster' than everyone else? And then cry in xda about bugs and asking how to revert back... Please............
Im not picking on topics author, nor other authors that flooded this forum with cry for help after living on beta software realizing that the beta is buggy as a daily driver. Im asking for simple basic knowledge. That it is beta stage software with bugs that you are agreeing to submitting when you catch them and living with them untill huawei fixes them.
Flooding XDA - community based 3rd party forums, that isn't connected to huawei nor any other manufacturer, and asking here about beta software problems, does no one nothing good. It only supports the theory on how clueless a person was when joined the beta program and didn't read the disclaimer on what he/she accepted when taking part.

As far as I know info from huawei that there was some sort of problem when it was rolling out for UK region, dont know if it is true, but huawei stated this. (Mby because of brexit, all the legal stuff or something.)
Thats why uk users couldnt join the program when the beta registration was open.

The guy asked nicely for help, XDA forums are there to help people connect, share and help each other. You came and mocked him, and turned this thread into a fight. Shame on you.

Sorry mate but I dont know why I said "really" which made it sound like I was desperate to roll back. But I was just commenting on the issue with the front facing camera and how it said you will be able to roll back but you actually couldn't "easily". Hardly crying imo, I reported the bug on the beta app and brought it up on here wanting to know if someone had a fix and then you come here and completely overeact. Grow up.
The only solution i can think is that you connect your phone to pc/laptop to the Huawei desktop app(HWsuite) and if it prompts you for update, all is well, otherwise you chose other version and it prompts you to stock, so you follow procedures. If you don't own pc, go to store where you bought it to sent you to official service and they will help you for free, no worries
