Official LG 5.0 Notification Drawer - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On 5.0 Lolipop Google Nexus, the notification drawer works like this:
1. Slide down once: Show notification list
2. Slide down again: Show full drawer (wifi, data, sound, brightness, etc + notification list).
However on 5.0 LG G3, the notification drawer doesnt work like that:
1. Slide down once : Show full drawer (wifi, data, sound, brightness, etc + notification list) -> RESULTING IF I HAVE 10 NOTIFICATIONS IT WILL BE STACKED AND I CANT SEE EACH NOTIFICATION CLEARLY
2. slide diagonally with small upward motion when the notification drawer is opened (wtf i dont even know how to explain, it doesnt always work): Show notification list.
Can I make it like nexus's? or is there a trick on G3's to show only the notification list? Thanks.

anyone?

Active Display App

There is a cool app for Active display feature: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.knock.knock.plus&hl=en
But according to it the active display feature wouldn't work exactly the way it works on Motorola where only the notification part lights up, because it needs Amoled display while P6 got IPS display. Other than that it works fine and those who want to see notification and messages directly can use this until hopefully Huawei comes with its own. A slight annoying problem though is that the bottom grey navigation bar shows up and covers part of the screen. On the google play, they have showed it working on a Nexus 4 and no navigation bar shows up in such way. So i don't know yet how to get it in full screen without navigation bar on the P6.
See screenshot of how it shows up. Is there a fix to this ? Or should this be given as feedback to Huawei for their upgrade, so that third party apps don't have this problem when running on p6 ?
I have tried a couple of notification apps namely: The above "Knock2", Active Notify, Dynamic Notifications and NotifierPro
My observations:
- The easiest yet efficient layout of all is the one Motorola came out with. This is because in case of the MOTO all work ( read notification without unlocking, go to app, dismiss, turnoff screen or unlock screen) can all be done within a long press+swipe option i.e., one touch. But in case of Knock2 app, you need two distinct touches which makes it slower. The notifierpro comes second, as the message can be read and dismissed as well as accessed in one touch or swipe, but this one got no option to tun off screen or choose to read notification from multiple apps.
- The notifierpro app has two advantages.
1) The app can function both within a lock screen as well as outside a lock screen. While in case of other apps, it just functions for the lock screen. The notifierpro app also got all the options like screen awakening as well other useful customization's and hence makes needless the other notification apps.
2) This app does not sacrifice the Huawei or Android lock screen while in case of others, it takes over the lock screen. Some might actually like this as they dont like the default lock screens, but in case of those wanting customization's, shortcuts, widgets, guest login mode, etc, on lock screen, this would be a problem.
- All these notification apps got the following faults:
In case of detailed reading of the message, only the first message can be read. When the second message reaches, it shows up as "2 new message" etc and no ability to read it.
None of these apps synchronize with the android notification panel. In fact, all these apps just beam the same message that is shown on the android top bar. All you can do is dismiss the message that is beamed, but it still remains on the android notification panel as well as the top bar. And if one was to use the Huawei lock screen ( not the password lock), one can bring down the notification panel from the lock screen and access notifications and apps directly from there. So if the android was to merely allow awakening, it can do all the tasks that these apps do, by the android notification panel itself. The android notification panel can in fact do much more.
And finally the whole idea of such notifications would clash with privacy, in case someone else was to use the phone. So there should be a quick toggle option to Allow/Not allow the detail reading of messages or turn off this notification function.
Now the real deal is in someone creating an app combining the advantage of all, yet keeping it simple Anyone with bright ideas for your Huawei Emotion UI upgrade ?.
My suggestion is to go for notifierpro layout but with added options:
1) Ability to turn off screen after dismissing, in lockscreen mode.
2) Read multiple notifications from single app as well as multiple apps. Reading multiple notifications from a single app can be done by swiping the pop up in a left/right direction that switches to the next or previous messages. While reading notifications on multiple apps can be done by having separate popups open in layers of rows.
3) Synchronize with android notification by one level i.e., synchronized with the top bar. So dismissing a notification should remove it from the top bar, but yet available within the slide down notification panel. So one could dismiss something for now from the pop up and decide to later access notification panel and read them all.
4) Toggle on/off button in notification panel to quick turn on/off the active/pop up notification.
Remember that P6 don't have an Amoled screen, so the layout of the MOTO is not really useful for the P6. So this idea of having first two small icons of the apps shown from which one is to be touched and accessed, isn't really useful because in the IPS display the whole screen is going to be awakened anyway and not just the small icons being awakened in case of amoled screen. So when that is the case, then more of the screen should be taken advantage, so its better to have the detailed message directly pop up on screen as the notifierpro does. This is also minimalist and no need to have the whole lockscreen changed, and this gives advantage of having pop ups even outside the lock screen.

The notification panel should act like stock.
A screenshot would be useful as i'm not quite sure what you are referring to
i took two photos
when i get a message (facebook, whatsapp, etc)
and slide down from the top to open what i call the notification bar
i get this control panel (like you can see in the picture)
when i press the icon on the top right of the screen
it switches to the notifications (as you can see on the second pic)
now my question is if there a way to cancel the control panel and leave it just for notifications?
keep it simple you know
thanks for the help

In Settings - Toolbars there should be an option "Quick pulldown" which allows the right edge of the status bar to pull down the quick settings.
Uncheck the option

maybe it just me - bugs in lollipop?

Hi,
So finally I've upgraded my G3 cat.6 (F460K) to lollipop. I find a few things annoying and I guess it is applicable to all G3:
1. lock screen notification - is it just me or LG made it useless? what's the point of all notifications if you cannot enter them from the lock screen. Am I missing something? some notifications (such as calendar) I can tap and then slide below it to arrive directly to the event. other notification does not work so I don't see the point in such notifications. tell me if it happen to you to.
2. my bottom bar is white. in some applications (whatsapp, browser etc) every time I type something and keyboard pops up, the bottom bar turns black. after finishing the typing it goes back to white.
3. no Qmemo (screen capture) from the home bottom
4. the notification bar keeps changing colors but most of it is not the same color as the app. is there any rule?
Please share your thoughts. and tell me if the above happen to you too.
Thanks.
1. works with all. When you press notification it indicates that you have to unlock the screen. After unlock app will open.
2. settings-homescreen-navbar style. Which one you chosed?
3. not using so wouldnt know
4. its material design. Apps that are not built with material design will not have the same backgroud
1. Yeah, and having only 2 notifications there is frustrating. There's room for more...
2. Strange, never happened to me on both stock and hacker's keyboard.
3. Yep, no navring for 5.0! I really hope that it's fixable...
4. The rule should be "let application decide, if it doesn't care - then use color of action bar". Usually, actionbar sits on top of activity, and everything looks fine.

Issues on CM12.1 - Blackened expanded status bar / empty 'recent apps' cards

Hey guys,
I'm right now facing some issues on my D-HD phone, which runs CM 12.1 custom ROM from this forum. Also I'm on the 12.1-20151201-unofficial-aceopt (!) build.
Issues:
a) The background of the untouched Lock screen is blacked out, as soon as I swipe to unlock the intended wallpaper is showing for a sec, then the home screen.
b) The status bar, if swiped down, blacks out the whole screen, popup messages aren't stuck to the bar and are hiding behind it.
I can't do a screenshot of it, due to the behavior of the screenshot option, that is killing the expanded status bar.
c) On the screen for recent apps (by button), ALL app preview screens are empty, only the head bars with the app names are appearing.
My phone was bug free, until I started to test an self-programmed app through Android Studio on it (per ADB, app wasn't complex nor corrupted).
I'm using the standard Trebuchet launcher (though I tested others, to see if it causes the problems), and the "Euphoria Dark Theme for CM12" ,which was also installed before the problems appeared.
I also did several reboots.
I did the full forum and google search, but wasn't able to find issues or solutions that are like this.
Do you have an idea, what am I able to do?
Thank you!
Which i have understand with your issues is that,
1)your are not getting transparent status bar, right?
2) after pulling down your notification panel you get black background in that, right ?
3) your lock screen's background is black , right ?
4) and after all these 3 issues you were also facing no animation in you window/scroll etc, right ?
For those all problem just go to settings>about phone and tap about 7 to 8 time on build number then go back you will see developer option there now tap on that find the option some thing like "force high-end graphics" switch on that and reboot your phone your problems will be solved.

Hide icons of running apps on the status bar?

Hide icons of running apps on the status bar? Is it possible to do this without rooting? I hate having to look at the spotify icon / whatsapp desktop and other apps icons on my status bar all the time, it looks so cluttered , I KNOW spotify it's running since the music is playing google, I'm not that stupid to know it's running in the background , if I want to look at my notifications, let's say I get an email, I'll slide down the notification bar , I don't need notifications being thrown at me all the time...

Does long pressing the notification in question not allow you to shut it off? Or am I misunderstanding your interpretation?
Press and hold the Settings icon Quick Settings for a while. You'll see a new section System UI Tuner, from. There you can turn on or off icon in the status bar area. You'll also now notice a wrench next to your settings icon in your quick setting area.
I hope this is what you're referring to.
You can also swipe right slowly and it will reveal a settings icon, tap there and turn off notification from just that app

If you do that you then silence all the notifications for that app , don't get me wrong I don't want to eliminate the notifications , I just want to eliminate the icons on the status bar .
Take a look at the picture I uploaded , see how the bar gets crowded with all those app icons from Spotify , the new York times apps etc ?
For what you're wanting, you'll need root.
