[Q] no proper interactions with Zenwatch - cure - Asus ZenWatch

All,
this morning I thought My watch is already broken. no proper input handling was possible anymore, gestures were not recognized, Displayed content was moving without touching the display.
Reset was not possible as it would habve required interaction with the watch which was not possible anymore.
My only solution was to drain as much battery (using the remote camera app) and wait until the battery became empty. After a restart, the watch behaved properly (sigh!) so no HW issue. First thing I did to have at least a chance to interact with the watch should the behaviour happen again: I enabled developer mode so that I can use adb get some logcat and reset the watch.
Anyone eles experienced that by now?
Any better solutions?
Thank you,
thunder

AW 2.0 - Phone battery indicator always shows zero

In any watch face that shows the phone battery level, it always shows 0%. Watch battery levels are always shown correctly.
And yet, there's no other communication issue between the watch and phone (Samsung GS7) - notifications work beautifully, apps install and refresh, etc. I'm assuming it's some lingering Android permissions issue, but I've been unable to find anything. Given that everything else is working fine, I can live with it... but was wondering if anyone else had seen it?

The watch face I use from the Play Store shows phone's battery level correctly on my Pixel XL with AW2.

For whatever reason - five days in - it suddenly started working this morning. So I'm guessing it really was just me
Thanks all!

Location Aware/App Actions

Anyone having issues with their P2XL/Android Pie and location related things?
Examples...
My smart lock (August) no longer auto unlocks when I get home.
My Nest thermostat no longer knows I'm home (and adjusts temp) until I walk in front of it.
My Phillips Hue lights no longer auto turn on when I get home after dark.
Etc etc.
Started around the time Pie was released, but I don't think at EXACTLY the same time (shortly after, I think). My wife has a P1XL and Pie and has the same issues.
I initially chalked it up to needing a fresh install, but I finally got around to doing that with no improvement.
Confirmed all of the location/scanning stuff in Settings is enabled. GPS itself works fine (e.g. no issues with Google Maps).
In fact, if I open the August app, it knows where I am... The change in location simply didn't trigger the unlock process.
I'm guessing either a Pie bug, or these apps needing further updates... But not seeing much in the way of other people's reports has me uncertain.
All related issues (August, Nest, Hue) started at the same time as each other and the same time on both phones (mine and my wife's).
I've tried toggling things on and off, re-installing things without letting Google restore data, minimal installations to ensure it wasn't some sort of app conflict.
At this point, I can't think of anything else to try. Obviously I can reach out to Google... Just not super optimistic about it accomplishing anything.
If anyone can confirm from their end or has any troubleshooting ideas, I appreciate the share in advance.
Thanks.
Edit: Oh, I also turned off battery optimization for those apps and eventually Adaptive Battery was turned off in general.

Glitch in S20 layout?

Hi everyone, I hope someone here can help me.
I'm experiencing a bug on my phone that's bothering in several situations.
Apps in landscape mode switch to portrait and come back to landscape (or not):
http://imgur.com/gallery/vfgSCPn
Voice notes in WhatsApp get interrupted:
http://imgur.com/gallery/yXIlFbI
(you'll see that the navigation bar briefly goes white)
I've factory-wiped my phone, gradually reinstalled the apps and double-checked that there are no weird or potentially dangerous apps.
The tricky part here is that I can't find a pattern, as it randomly happens (for instance, my keyboard went down when writing this actual post).
Has anyone else experienced this problem with their phone? Any idea on what I can do? It's really hurting my experience with Samsung.
Thanks!
You might try another Android version.
Clear system cache on the boot menu.
You can try a hard reboot as well.
Test the sensor(s) that controls that (it could be an intermittent failure, the worst kind to diagnose).
Does manually locking it to landscape mode stop it?
If it's a brand new phone, get it replaced as this is not a normally seen glitch.
Reloads generally don't cure settings or hardware issues and useless it's an old load or has a worm, trojan, etc are generally a waste of time.
As invariably the original issue just gets triggered again... eventually.

Media skipping issue

Hi XDA Community,
For some very odd reasons, when I'm on Youtube and/or MX player Pro the media I select would keep skipping to the next video. It's fast skipping too. I don't know why this is happening and it happened like 4 months ago. It went away and now it's back. I scanned my Note 10+ with Malwarebytes, optimized battery, ran a scan with SD Maid, used Galaxy App Booster from Good Guardians, and rebooted my phone multiple times. And no detection were recognized. Also, the battery would drain faster than normal because phone would wake after in lock screen and would keep flashing to turn on. Please if someone has a fix or have any idea about this issue, really appreciate this community. Thank you
Edit: Also when I try to pull down the notifications, it would show when I hold it down but as soon as I let go it won't. This makes it difficult to access my flashlight and toggle on/off flashlight,
I've since reformatted the phone. The problem still persists.
I loaded in Android recovery and tried to run a graphics test. But when I tried to run the graphics test, it would give me an error. Could this be the problem? Any input are greatly appreciated
I actually don't think this is the case. When I reboot my phone and do not enter my PIN first time. The wake would not happen. So it must be an app...

Question Would someone kindly let me know when pocket mode and app / memory / notifications management is fixed?

Hi all,
Just asking a big favour really, as nothing else comes close to the specs I want I'd like to purchase a poco f5 again once these three issues are fixed:
Pocket mode not working
Memory management closing apps after a little while (despite being locked, set not to close, no power restrictions etc). Even play music app was being killed and Chromecast controls constantly...
Notifications delayed massively again despite the same changes as above point. 15-20+ minute delays.
Ps. I tried debloating and changing every setting I could find. I believe issue is due to MIUI powerkeeper dameon but removing that removes ability to set battery saving on apps at all.
Many thanks in advance.

And where did you experience all of those?
1. Pocket mode in recent Xiaomi devices are might not correctly working because of virtual proximity sensor I believe, cmiiw.
2. If you tried to keep a lot of apps running, of course some might have to be killed or put in a sleep state. You can't keep all the apps keep running in background.
3. This is the direct result from point above. Do note, apps use various method of receiving notifications, some rely on google service (mostly google apps, I believe this is most battery friendly way) while some manage the notifications themselves (this requires the app to be kept running in background, or occasionally given a queue by OS+kernel to be awaken periodically to receive the notifications)
tl;dr: if you want every apps to be as responsive as possible, you have to have a bigger ram and non stop power supply (not running in a battery)

I appreciate your help but this phone does have a proper proximity sensor, it's just not used in the software correctly for some reason. HW tests pass ok . I wouldn't have purchased this phone otherwise, I've had the misfortune of owning devices with the virtual one... Ugh... Never again.
Understood but the 12GB is not being fully used. If you remove power restrictions from these apps they should remain in memory and running in the cached / background state. Xiaomi powerkeeper which is in addition to the stock Android ROM appears to be closing apps regardless. All xiaomi cleaning or clearing options are disabled.
Indeed the applications in question are using Google's cloud messaging notification systems and it isn't an issue on aosp based ROMs on other phones even others in the house at the same time on the same network (doze active or not), but these custom ROMs aren't available for this phone yet.
I'd have probably kept it if the pocket mode worked but I draw the line at my phone dialing emergency numbers when locked in my pocket which happened within two days of ownership. In testing pocket mode didn't work correctly at all, seems others have the same problem.
Thanks though

Regarding about the proximity sensor, I need a confirmation from any owner of this device because it's failed to be mentioned by any reviews. Though elliptic labs didn't mention any Poco F5 and GSMArena might not properly mentioned it (their site mentioned Poco F4 not having a virtual one, while it does use one). Elliptic labs isn't the only one that supply such technology too. Please take a look in an app such "device info hw", see if it's reported as elliptic labs or Xiaomi sensor.
You could try Xiaomi.eu rom if you have already unlocked, though doubtful it will resolve the issue. Or you could try turning off MIUI optimization to see if that can turn off the aggressive doze on google service.

The phone got real proximity sensor. Verified by waving hands over the sensor and placing the phone stationary. The position of the sensor is in top right corner where the signals are shown in ui.

An easier way to check for the future is just to use another camera to check for emitted IR light when the screen is turned on.

I have the chines' model .
for notification : just disable com.miui.powerkeeper by typing the below in CMD command ( plz search for method)
pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.powerkeeper
and you will receive the notification instantly for all apps .
Note: make sure to unoptimized the apps from battery optimization

I wonder if the Note 12 Turbo has the same problem. That had been out for quite a few months before this phone... I see the Note 12 Turbo Chinese firmware just had an update today.

Indeed I think this is the problem, I did pop this in my first post " I believe issue is due to MIUI powerkeeper daemon but removing that removes ability to set battery saving on apps at all.".
So yeah, it prevents you from using battery saving modes at all on the apps you don't use often .
Thanks though.
