Android L style recent apps for nokia X/XL - Nokia X

Every device is getting lollipop these days but our x and xl's dont even have a decent kitkat rom.
The most we've done to our popular 4.1.2 roms is theme it like lollipop using launchers apps xposed and stuff.
One of the best things new in the new android 5.0 is the stylish recent apps panel. I did a lot of googling and here im going to teach how to install 5.0 recent apps panel in any custom rom and even stock rom.
Prerequisites:
1- Fancy app switcher
(Im too lazy to post a link so go to play store type the app name and download the app at top of the list)
2- Xposed module.(ya'll know how to install it)
3- gravitybox(found im the download section of xposed app)
Now lets begin.
1 - install the fancy switcher app.
2- install xposed. (If you dont know how to do this step shame on you. [emoji14] )
3- now install gravitybox and activate it in xpose module.
4- open gravitybox go to navigation key actions.
5- now in the back key long press action(as we dont have a recent apps key) select fancy app switcher as default app.
6- now long press the back key and bam.......
( if you are using a nav bar select the function of recent key as fancy app switcher)
Credits to jeremy kabiche for creating such an awesome app and me myself for wasting almost half and hour googling and writing this tutorial.

(guide) to change individual app dpi (manual method) for all roms

this is for paranoid android roms only
Guide to change individual app dpi
You will need;
1 A root level file explorer like root explorer
2 A little patience
To perform the changes
So you need to find out if the app you want to change the dpi level for is either a system or data app, to do this open your file manager and look in system/app or data/app. You need to then long press the app you want and press rename. Then copy the app name by long pressing the text and press copy, dont copy any .apk or -1 at the end of the name.
Then navigate to system folder and look for build. prop/pad.prop. press the mount rw button then long press open in text editor. So now you need to remember where you found your chosen app, was it system or data? If system long press under then system header or if it was a data app look for the apps header. To paste your app name in the right place find a empty line, long press then paste. You need to add at the start of the line for your app pa.
Nearly there!
So next at the end you need to add .dd= and then your chosen dpi level.
So for example for apex, I have it as a system app and my line in pad.prop for apex looks like
pa.com.anddoes.launcher.dd=221
Then you need to press menu key, then save and exit. Restart your app and it should display how you want
FOR ALL ROM'S

Google Search - Latest Update
v3.1.8
Changes:
It officially brings Search version 3 (3.1.8 to be exact) that shipped in KitKat to all devices running 4.1+. This includes an updated UI, new refresh animation, among other things.
Because Search houses the Google Experience Launcher (GEL) inside, this update also brings GEL to all devices running Android 4.1+. All you need to do after installing Search 3.1.8 is install the launcher app from here, and voila - GEL for all, not just KitKat devices. I have it running on 4.1, 4.3, and 4.4 on both phones and tablets, and it finally looks perfect.
As I mentioned above, 3.1.8 completely fixes the wonky GEL layout on tablets. As you may have seen yesterday, several things on the Nexus 7, for example, were out of whack - the keyboard was popping when you tapped Home, the icons were old, and the Search box was off-center. All fixed.
Remember: GEL does support transparency in the navigation and status bars, but you need KitKat for that to work. And Google disabled it system-wide on the Nexus 10.
New cards:
Website update card
News topic card
What to watch card
Traffic incidents using Waze on maps.
Recurring reminders.
Real-time scores for rugby teams
See when your packages are ready for in-store pickup.
You can now bring back dismissed cards by pressing Undo.
Download
The APK is signed by Google and upgrades your existing app. The cryptographic signature guarantees that the file is safe to install and was not tampered with in any way. Rather than wait for Google to push this download to your devices, which can take days, download and install it just like any other APK.

Once again, if you want GEL to work, install the launcher helper APK from here.

From the FAQs from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507748
7. How do I make the launcher icons smaller?
In order to make them smaller you have to use Xposed Framework + Xposed App Settings to lower the DPI on the launcher.
You can get the latest Xposed Framework HERE. If you don't know what Xposed Framework is, please take a look at this post HERE.
Follow the instructions in the link above to get Xposed Framework installed. Once everything is done, open Xposed Framework go to Downloads and install App Settings.
After done installing, go back to Xposed Framework > Modules, and enable App Settings.
Reboot your Device.
Once Done rebooting, open App Settings and select Google Seach (the blue icon) Thanks to bakercj for clarifying this one.
Turn it on and change the DPI
400 DPI = 6 icons in the dock and App Drawer Grid 5x6
320 DPI = 7 icons in the dock and App Drawer Grid 6x7
Make sure to tell it to save, and then go back to the home screen. If it didn't take effect, reboot your device.

[APP] Samsung Galaxy S5's Download booster and Launcher For Htc one

How to Get the Samsung Galaxy S5's Download Booster & Launcher on Your HTC One
Samsung may not be the best when it comes to redesigning their devices (hopefully that will change with Galaxy Note 4), but they do have a knack for including some pretty awesome features into their TouchWiz software.
In its latest version, the one that shipped with the Galaxy S5, they included Download Booster. This feature uses both your mobile data and Wi-Fi to increase your download speeds for files (but not streaming, unfortunately).
While we can't grab the official Download Booster on our HTC One, there is a very similar app that does the same thing called Super Download, which kicks in right when a download starts. That means there is not much set up needed once installed.

Here is the Video Tutorial
A Big Thanks To the GadgetHacks ( For his awesome Tutorial) :angel:
Step 1: Install Super Download

Super Download is the work of developer @elban , who has been kind enough to release a fully featured free version of this app for XDA members, which you can grab over in his thread. If you're not on XDA, you can also grab a free version on Google Play, which has a 50MB file size limit, as well as the full paid version. Those links are below.
Super Download Lite - Booster

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The free .apk from XDA will install like normal as long as you have installation from "Unknown sources" enabled.
Now when you download a file through Chrome or any other browser, Super Download will kick in and activate both your mobile and Wi-Fi data. You can also share download links to Super Download by using the share button from any app.
Along with Super Download, I will show you how to get the new TouchWiz launcher and AccuWeather widget that shipped with the Galaxy S5. All of this is compatible with the HTC One M7 and M8, as long as they are rooted with a custom recovery installed :- The Tutorial is here Thanks to @BD619
Step 2: Installing TouchWiz Launcher & Weather Widget
The TouchWiz launcher isn't as straightforward to install like Super Download, so we will need to flash it from recovery. The man behind the port, developer Dhairya Gandhi, created two versions of the launcher. The main difference between the two is that V1 has apps and widgets tabbed in the app drawer and V2 does not.
TouchWiz Launcher V1
TouchWiz Launcher V2
There is only one weather widget version out there, so if you would like to install it, use the link below.
Galaxy S5 AccuWeather Widget
Step 3: Flashing in Recovery
Both the launcher and weather widget can be flashed at the same time, but first we will need to boot into recovery. To get there, press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons for 15 seconds and select Recovery from the bootloader menu.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
In recovery, tap Install and select the TouchWiz launcher. After you Swipe to Confirm Flash and the flash finishes, tap Home and repeat the process with the weather widget. Once the weather widget is done installing, tap Wipe Cache/Dalvik and then Reboot System.
Step 4: Reset Your Default Launcher
After the reboot, you'll still have the Sense launcher as your default launcher, so change that from Settings -> Personalize -> Home screen.
And that covers it. The launcher works just like the Sense Launcher with the added bonus of having some extra view options in the app drawer. :laugh: :victory:
Well, its a worth trying
thanks for this tutorial
Linked on my thread
its a themed version of s3 launcher from android 4.1.1-DLIB

Post your setup of apps/tweaks

I don't see a thread like this in here like other devices usually do, so let's share our setups. If you're running xposed list what you're using and what it does! Should be good info to get things away from the stock ugly ui.
My xposed list is as follows:
Audio privacy - for removing album art on lockscreen
Clean lockscreen - removes user icon, emergency call button,letters and backspqce from pin lock
Enable notification ticker on lollipop - self explanatory
Gravity box LP - long press back to kill, media controls, hide am/PM
Hide carrier label v2 - removes carrier label from lockscreen
Hide emergency button - clean lockscreen leaves the space clickable, this stops that
Lockscreen widgets LP - self explanatory, very needed!
Lockscreen Disabler - disables pin lock so I can unlock with fingerprint or swipe, relocks pin after idle
Reboot without su - enable xposed reboot
Return my enter key - replaces smiley on hangouts with enter key
Snapprefs - if you don't know what this is you've never rooted before
Spotify skip - unlimited skips, track seeking, peek, everything you want
Xperia camera enhancements - unbind album app to quickpic
Xperia/aosp navbar buttons - use this for menu key and shrinking navbar styling
Xperia xposed LP - power menu theming!
Xstana - status bar theming
YouTube ad away - essential
YouTube background playback - listen to playlists with screen off
A lot of those are to get features back that lollipop took away, which hasn't been easy to do. I am also using nova prime, Materis icon pack, lollipop minimal theme, team battery bar, and Modded Google keyboard with emojione emojis. A few system tweaks I'm using are the sound boost mod, torch LED upgrade, and a really nice hosts file. And in the spirit of theming I run Google maps 6.9.0, eBay 3.0.0.19, and quickpic 4.5.2 because their redesigned apps all have sucked.
I'm curious to see what else y'all have tried as I'm still not happy with a few things and not being able to change them. Hopefully we can get cyanogenmod to the z5c soon.

I'm on .200 with zombie kernal and v80 xposed. I forgot who helped me on here but I couldn't get xposed to work on this phone for weeks. The only combination that's works to my knowledge is zombie kernel (doesn't support twrp so you have to hot boot it to use it..) Wipe dalvic and cache, flash xposed, reboot and it'll compile all 600+ apps. This is where mine kept messing up the phone kepg overheating and shutting off at around 190 degrees. It took a few tries to get it not to crash and all has been good so far. You can't wipe dalvic again without going into boot loop, keep the uninstall zip handy and just redo the framework if you ever need to.
Goddamn it, I've tried everything except trying another kernel. Thanks for the info!
Error 404

Yup, When I first tried zombie I couldn't get into twrp and dismissed the kernel entirely until I was told to use it lol
