[Q] Advice needed: LG G3 D856 vs D858 and UK LTE Coverage - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. I'm looking to buy an LG G3 Dual LTE but being in the UK my understanding is that only the D856 would offer better LTE experience considering it supports the FDD 800m Band (FDD: B1(2100), B3(1800), B7(2600), B8(900), B20(800), unlike the D858 which supports 2100(B1)/1800(B3)/2600(B7)MHz .
I've been looking for this model for days now but all I can find is the D858 which seem to be widely available.
What are people experiences with the D858 in the UK? Has anyone managed to buy a D856 from anywhere?
The SIM I will be using for LTE is a Three SIM
Alternatively can anyone recommend a good alternative to this phone? (Not S5 or M8 though)
Thanks in advance

Anyone?

i have no idea about the LTE connectivity.. but I can tell u that the D858 does not support wireless charging

Apparently the D856 does

Btw, I've ordered the D856 from UAE..waiting for it to be delivered. Will then confirm if really supports wireless charging

waiting for your confirm.

I am using a D858HK with 3UK sim for data - I can confirm 4G works very well. The best I have managed on speed test is 40Mbps

Just received mine...unlike stated by LG themselves it does not support LTE 800. (See picture)
Hopefully the 1800 will just work fine.

You should be fine on 3UK. My D858HK LTE bands are 1800/1900/2300/2600
Does D856 support wireless charging?

Yep it works fine on 3 but if I knew I would have gone for the D858HK...more LTE bands and would have saved some money too...
NFC definitely supported..not sure about wireless charging but I doubt it

I'm in the same situation.
My opérator (sfr in France) use the 800 mhz band, and that's why I need the d856 model. Unfortunately, it seems to be sell only in the russian market !
Does anyone know a good emarket place to buy this model ?

It seems possible from Dubai ?
Do you really think the vendor is reliable ?

I bought mine from that vendor and it's definitely reliable. Problem is that the D856 does NOT support LTE 800 as stated by LG

That letter was on 4pda, and it was about lack of QI. D856, unlike 858/857, does have 800 MHz LTE.

First quote you write 800 band works fine and in the 2nd you write your d856 havent 800 band...

Little point asking your question here.
What you have purchased is not a Note II, and isn't going to be compatible with *any* Note II ROMs.

It may look like a Note II, but that is where the similarity ends.

I'm in Ann Arbor Michigan at the moment. Yeah I've heard T-Mobile is letting the frequency 1900 get full 3G/4G . I heard that Seattle, Las Vegas, Washington, DC, and the New York metro are going to be the first to get it. I'm not getting 3G in my area though . Idk why. Oh and by the when you get your phone, the battery might seem like its running down fast at first but after a couple of charges it lasts longer.
Thanks for that info Alexander. Who did you order yours from? How long did it take to get to you?

Optimus G Pro versions

Anyone know what the key differences between the models E985, E980, L-04E and F240 are?
Or is it just the freq bands but everything else is the same? In that case I would get the E980 if I want to use it on Telus in Canada?
Looks like: F240 is the international (Korean) version, E985 is for India, and E980 is AT+T (US).
No TV in AT+T version is the main difference afaik.

I found this about the supported bands depend on the versions;
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - all versions
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100 - E985
HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - for AT&T
4G Network
LTE LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100 - for AT&T
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_optimus_g_pro-5254.php
So looks like any of the versions will support 1800MHZ, not sure if that's LTE? Look up your carrier and see what their bands are.

According to wiki, the Koreans have 1800 MHz LTE .
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
Here's the only reference to L-04E I could find, for NTT Docomo. Looks like a different phone, with different display, processor, etc. What's up with that?
http://www.theverge.com/products/optimus-g-pro-l-04e/6787
Also, F240 has sub variants... F240S, F240K and F240L
http://japphone4sg.blogspot.com/2013/04/docomo-l-04e-korean-f240-lg-optimus-g.html?m=1
I guess S, K and L are the three Korean carriers, so only the radio is different.

actually, this is kinda puzzling for Honor considering from what I understand, Honor is meant to be Huawei's way to go into the US market, besides also being the "affordable" brand. but, they don't have the bands needed for many of the US carriers...
and the phones that do have the bands... they don't have the "flagship" specs...

oneplus didn't start this way too... they only have one variant for their latest one -- the oneplus 5.
i guess many phone manufacturers still need to have separate brands to cater to carriers that may want customisation and indirectly lock down the devices so the owners can't just move from one carrier to another (or one region to another -- parallel imports).
but yes, long term, i don't think this is good ans healthy for consumers.

actually, this is kinda puzzling for Honor considering from what I understand, Honor is meant to be Huawei's way to go into the US market, besides also being the "affordable" brand. but, they don't have the bands needed for many of the US carriers...
and the phones that do have the bands... they don't have the "flagship" specs...

Very ironic if you ask me.

oneplus didn't start this way too... they only have one variant for their latest one -- the oneplus 5.
i guess many phone manufacturers still need to have separate brands to cater to carriers that may want customisation and indirectly lock down the devices so the owners can't just move from one carrier to another (or one region to another -- parallel imports).
but yes, long term, i don't think this is good ans healthy for consumers.

what is doing by honor is not good, have to change and build one variant for all
hopefully they will have a US release with T-Mobile bands.

This is a bummer and I'm pretty peeved that this fact was not mentioned on any sites showing specs or in any of the reviews. I live in Europe and was fully expecting my Honor 8 Pro to work on 4G mostly everywhere. Will the Honor 8 Pro work in the states on 3G/UMTS/HSDPA? Can I expect to get Internets speeds of about 42 MB/s?
