[Q] No 4G/LTE capability after IMEI repair - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My G3 was reported as stolen (presumably by the seller) shortly after I bought it, so the IMEI was blocked on my network. I sent the phone to the US for repair and, after some hassle and a complaint to Paypal, I received it it by return post almost 6 weeks later. Not sure if I can mention the "repair" company here but PM me for details, if you'd like them.
The phone now works on Edge / 3G but will not connect to any Australian 4G network. I've tried flashing the European (4.4.2) tot and Australian 5.0 tot but the situation persists. In slight desperation, I'll try the Hong Kong tot later today but in the meantime, does anyone know of a solution?
Possibly useful info:
There is no EFS backup.
The (new) IMEI is displayed in Phone Information and with the "06" code entered in the phone.
The model number is D855 (not D855K or any other variant)
The phone was rooted and running (I think) ANHD Lollipop when it was sent in for repair.*
Extensive searching has not produced anything that has been of use.
LTE is available in Network Selection and it sticks after reboot, so no need to use 'hidden menu', delete system files, etc...
* Probably the cause. The only instructions given were to send the phone without SIM or external SD card.

Have you tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54621213&postcount=26
Or this?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/mod-root-activate-lte-g3-t2819387

Yes. It's nothing to do with settings, I think. I have LTE in settings, no problem. It just won't connect to any band n the hidden menu (I tried each one). Seems that the Australian LTE bands have been knocked out, somehow.
Just discovered that the phone will not connect to data network if GSM only is selected but GSM/WCDMA will switch between EDGE/3G (H - no H+)
HK .tot file did not resolve the problem.

I have a article about this, but its in Turkish, with pictures of course and links for necessary files, will you please traslate the link and just read the second part only , starting as restoring qcn bacup, if you are on kitkat, if you are lollipop please downgrade to kitkat first ( also link to kitkat kdz ).
I have necessary qcn too, if you need it (not the one in the article a better one).
Feel free to ask anything after you look at it.
I will write an English article too in a couple of days, if you are stuck on translated one, you wait for it too.

You are wellcome, this is the way it should be i think. I'm old enough who knows sharing is a must ..
http://www.androidbrick.com/qualcomm-snapdragon-imei-tamiri-ders-4-qualcomm-snapdragon-imei-repair/ , the trick is to "zero" necessary partitions, and put your original imei in an orginal untouched qcn backup of your version. You can see it in the pictures of this article. Your 3 partition that holds this info are 21, 22 and 24.

[Q] Gallaxy note II SHV-E250S 64GB LTE 4G

I just bought the Galaxy Note II (SHV-E250S) in Seoul, I couldn't resist it .
This Korean model comes with some extra memory, LTE & and a LARGE DMB antenna, soc and rest of the machine should be the same as the international version the N7100.
My ambition is to flash a custom N7100. I took the gamble and rooted the machine with CMM in this forum and as a follow-on tried to flash the N7100 stock rom via PC ODIN (Which failed, probably due to a model number check???).
Is there a brilliant mind here on the forum that can help me replace the Korean Stock ROM with an international version that makes sense .
Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Ill upload some pics of this version of the note soon..

Same here!!
a good friend just got me the same model (SHV-E250S) from Korea. It has 32GB, which is not available on the international version where i am from. i really think the extra space is cool (always). also, i was very surprised to see it unlocked, and my local sim worked right away! (+1 Korea)
anyways, how did you root it? did you just use the normal CF-Root via ODIN? or something else?
and for those who want a backup, just tell me how, and i will do it for you...

Hi there, thanks a lot for willing to help, I did try CF-Root via Odin, but it was a previous version that broke my partition cache , no there is a new CF- Autoroot, here is a link: http://www.xda-developers.com/android/galaxy-note-2-feels-the-love-from-cf-root.
Normally this version should not cause this corruption, but i can`t guaranty or be responsible , if this method will not work or corrupts something. Normally it should do the job.
This method has been used by users with NOTE II devices, Korean as well.
Here is direct link to the post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933542

What Korean telecom provider does your phone refer to SKT, KT or LG U+ ?
---------- Post added at 08:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:44 PM ----------
Any way, you can try to enter hidden menue and have a loot at Network Setings->Network mode:
The hidden menu code:
-open dial pad and enter: 319712358 then a menu will pop up asking for password.
Passwords

Mine is SKT as well.
Look, I`m not a pro here, even the other way around, you should search the forum and ask questions in the right topics, but read and search more. If no one answers your question, well f**k it, just move on. I searched a little, it seems that backing up before rooting may not help, but there are too many ways and soft to backup. Rooting does not seem to be dangerous if you have the right tools. Anyway, you should think, if you need rooting and what for!
Ow, and yes, i dont think that by rooting your device, will let you gain another banwidth! (AWS/1700Mhz )

Just some speculation without really knowing the details: Special versions (units with supported freqs other than orginal unit) for certain areas have different modems by hardware, not just by software.
Think of the iPhone 5. No version that supports the current 4G network in Sweden. If it only were a software limitation I doubt the guys at Apple are so dumb and lazy not to "fix it" to make the Swedish people happy. Suddenly many carries reveals some very convenient plans to support those freqs... Not a word of that before iPhone 5, and then, bam, almost "everyone" will start supporting new freqs! Strange...

Yeh man, don`t know the details, may be for some models samsung has same hardware but just blocks the freqs not needed for that region. what do you mean by this: Special versions (units with supported freqs other than original unit), Special version? all versions are special, each one is special for a certain region! (units with supported freqs other than original unit), original units, aren`t they all original? just made for different areas.

As for the best rom... I have no idea.. I will say this though. If you have the international model of the s2..Do Not Flash Any Roms from the epic 4g touch forum.. you will end up with a soft brick or worse a new shiny coaster.. If you get our bootloader stuck on that device.. chances are Odin nor anything else will recognize it and you will be stuck hoping a jtag can save ya...
There is a forum for that specific device..
EDIT.... I'm a retard... I see what you're asking now.. lol. I'm not sure as I'm a boost Customer but I would imagine that the tw based roms would be the better choice..

They are the roms in the Android development section... almost all the roms are tw based in that forum section.. Although I did see a CM based rom in there a little while back... but in the roms op.. it will usually tell you that it's tw based..

http://www.cdma-ware.com/workshop.html ... might be worth a look.. I believe that this is the only way to go about the changes you are wanting to make.. I read also that you might have to zero out the esn/meid number to then change it... not sure as I'm a super noob in this area.. @Hani85
Gil81
Did you mean, for example,
[ROM][OFFICIAL][CyanogenMod 10.2 Alpha4 for Exhilarate][TeamChopsticks]
++++++++++++++
I could not change the numbers esn / meid using CDMA Workshop
Details:
000000>send>SPC is correct. Phone unlocked
ESN >DEfault(nv_write)>phone ask for password . Internal security password (16 digits) is required
ESN >universal,EFS method>cannot read EFS

That's a CM rom(cyanogenmod) not touchwiz based... a good tw based rom I use is projectx 3.1 ... there is a new version of it, but I haven't flashed it as I've been on vacation and been playing around with a rom I ported for my gtab 10.1...
Jellyverse is a good one...
Really all of them are good roms.. just depends on you're style.. lol..
Also... I think that rom you linked is not for this device.. I didn't look, but it says for exhilarate..

Have you tried redownloading? Sounds like a bad download. Make sure you verify the file integrity via md5sum.
Yes, flashed maybe 2-3 different ROMs nothing helps.
I've lost EFS folder. Trying to find out different methods to restore EFS folder/informations from dev/ partition. :crying:

Not ROMs, you need to reflash the Odin One Click, ROM flashes don't touch this folder
Is this one going to work in my situation http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.php?dir=Files/Devices/Samsung%20Galaxy%20S2%20%28Sprint%29%20%28SPH-D710%29/Stock%20ROMs/JB/FL16/No%20Data%20Restore/Rooted
Yes but I recommend using GB27 for Sprint, GB28 for Virgin Mobile, or GC01 for Boost
All are located here-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903252
My S2 exactly on this ROM SPH-D710_GB27_1014481_Rooted_Restore.exe now, but still I cannot restore the ESF folder.

The only way you'll be able to get those items back is to get the NV folder unlocked and salvaged from another sprint s3. Get one with a cracked screen missing back but USB and touch still working. After that you basically salvage the info from it and junk it after. Its illegal for two phones to have the same info active/receiving signal at the same time. To unlock the NV folder you'll need QPST. ither buy it 3.5 for 100$ or look around for for 2.7.402 or 2.7.384 or 2.7.374
I forgot which one detects the S2 and allows the edits. The open sesame door method works on it as well I believe. I did one not to long ago but my memory isn't fresh on it. Or you can use the android terminal method that is used on the prevail in order to get the files. Google is your friend for the "QPST" and for the "open sesame door method" and for the "android terminal backup NV items on prevail".

the problem is because the white lines was safe settings as the previous rom flash with new rom the previous settings in the nand flash was not loaded ok ... I also passed through the white lines
We split ... from what I 've seen in the descriptions of your phone have the same but with different names, things Chinese , the same processor and the same specifications of memory ram and rom also the cameras and the screen, which is 480x854 resolution . Ok , here is the rom to retrieve the phone , that if after trying several times hehe, well I found the problem when I put it to recover that failed was just starting BKF_NV , well after trying and trying , reaching the following configuration : wITH ResearchDownload 2.9.7007 ( that I use ) drivers " SciU2S " installed 'll Options ( second tab ) and give it to " Repartition " and "Reset to Normal", then the third is backup pesteña delete all options, then on the fourth tab view all options are removed and clean but the last putting Erase All Flash and loaded .... if flashing goes well start playing nothing but end with the word Orro .
do not use the left upgradedownloader because not configure
here is the rom that I use:vvv.vvv.vvv.needrom.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/S18_JHT_DS_ORRO_FT5306_256M_EN_V02-A9500.zip[/url]

the phone in china cost around 50 pounds, i think to buy one more download software with all data etc. save in pac format and reflash the old one.
Problem is because i'm not sure the free software can make full backup and save to pac format
Volcano box can due this only is cost around 100 pounds
I brought two of those model's for my niece and nephew for x-mas. After they unpacked it and set it up, they notice some of the buttons are not working. So after contacting the seller directly over the phone they emailed me two of the firmware. it was hit and miss, one work perfectly on one phone and so was the other.
****EDIT***** sorry I can't post outside links. so, they are both uploaded to my mediafire
/download/zqsnu8ma1izvrcv/
and
/download/um14hr6ib630ttd/
just add the mediafire url at the beginning and it should lead to the download. If you need the whole link for some reason just PM me.
They are both in .PAC format to be use with researchdownload. And one more thing make sure on the Calibration tab, uncheck everything or else it will fail at FDL2. The older one label the V06 has more option but just make sure nothing is checked also.
My phone model is the HTM GT-T9500-B SC6820 with the 5" screen. So try them both. :fingers-crossed:

Hi, I believe that I have the same problems you had, just 4 years later on, unfortunately it looks like @mrkoykangs files are no longer available on mediafire. By some amazing miracle you wouldn't happen to still have a copy? Many thanks in advance!

Whats up with the http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/xxxxx , firmware link?

Hello guys , can anyone tell me whats up with the firmware link? I do not get any sw link on my checkup, but everything else is correct.... It worked fine when I was on lollipop, but after upgrading to MM it does not provide any s/w link?? , I also get the same result when I use my "wife`s" G4 imei
I see people add links from the csmg.lgmobile.com that they have pulled, so what do I do wrong?? Any answers or help would be appreciated :good:

What part should i replace? Where should I insert the imei nr? Only got some Chinese/Korean lettering...??
I tried adding the imei in the end after dev? and also tried swapping the /dn/ part with the imei..? Sorry for the nooby question but I just cant figure out where i should add the imei, or am I supposed to add something else? Can you give me a example with a made up imei or something?
c/p from here
Note: for download links that start with http://pkg03.lime.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev - and they don't trigger the download properly please change it with http://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/dn/downloader.dev or http://pkg02.azure.gdms.lge.com/dn/downloader.dev but keep the URL structure (fileKey and kdz file).

Thanks for the reply, but thats the problem, I dont get any download file anymore from any of the kdz imei check sites.... I only get the : "nothing found" respond... On both the imei numbers I have? But if I use the link I used in OP I get some info in return like the msn, model, prod.date etc... but nothing on the Software or the app info.... when I was on LP I got the SW download link, but after I upgraded to MM I do not get a SW link in return I did not think that upgrading was related to getting the link to latest FW/KDZ ?....
Should I not get the latest SW file that was available anyways?.. I just tought it was strange that I see people uploading links from the same place I got it with LP, and that now I just get nothing found.... But I gues I just have to realize, that I will not get the file I want , but thanks alot for the help I got really appreciate it
It stopped working a few months back. It no longer returns the link to the firmware.
Got it working :highfive: see OP or : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=66671855&postcount=18

DB files for SN write tool

Have flashed RC 5 onto my Jiayu s3. All seems to be good.
But want to write my IEMI numbers into the phone. My problem is when using SN write tool it asks for MD1_DB and AP_DB files. Apprently they are with my phones firmware. I can't find on my computer or the internet.
Can anyone cast some light on this please.

Ken, each time people explain how to manipulate IMEI some moderator kicks in and closes thread. Once it was argued such is illegal. Of course the law differs from country to country.
Perhaps you were lucky to have a typo so the moderator tools did not spot your request.
Maybe it is not forbidden to PM you instructions. I will do so now and others may do same.
