[Q] Wireless charging keeps turning on Screen - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

When I place my Note 4 on a wireless charger it charges just fine. But after it charges to 100% the screen comes on every 3 minutes or so until I remove it from the charger.
This happens on the Samsung Wireless charger and the Tylt vue.
Can this behavior be stopped?
Thanks for any help.

On my s4 I had to turn down system volume and notification volume while on the wireless charger
I337 stock NJ4, rooted, unlocked
Sm-T537A NE1stock, rooted

It happens while plugged in as well, I think it's a safety thing like the lgs they beep and vibrate on an interval after 100%charge to alert you

Thanks for the reply.
After you've gone to bed this is pretty inconvenient.
I'm betting that the majority of phone users charge while asleep.
I use Persist+ for volume and I have it set to silent at night.
But the screen coming on over and over all night is just useless.
Right now I throw a washcloth over the screen. Easy, Dumb, Effective!

Mine comes on multiple times ONCE it's fully charged. So far that's the only time I seen it repeatedly come on. But when I ignore it and leave it alone it just stops on it own after a minute or so.
At night I use a plug. It's during the day that I use my Tylt wireless charger.

Is this isolate to AT&T Devices only, or does this persist in other variants as well?

Still waiting on lollipop here in canada.
Sorry, but thats hilarious that your solution is a cloth, considering how much we paid for a top of the line smartphone. This really sucks. I've decided to not even use it as a bedside doc anymore. it's in the living room now, where I can easily add and remove it from the dock.

Qi Wireless Charging Question

I have been using my G3 with the following chargers.
1. CAR - http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.312.b3nISV&id=19923741183&_u=r5ljepd1b56
2. HOME - http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z09.2.9.298.b3nISV&id=2030530342&_u=r5ljepdfb71
For the CAR charger, the phone keep asking me place the phone in center of Hot Zone.
Or will charge for a few seconds and stops, and charge and stop...repeat.
For the HOME charger, it ask me to place the phone in center of Hot Zone, but once message disappear it charges fine.
I tried a long time and can't find the perfect spot.
Can someone point me to right HOT ZONE on the phone??

Hi, the same thing keeps happening to my g3 whenever I try and charge it wirelessly.
Just to ask did you buy one of the budget qi chargers?
I bought one for £7 on ebay, thing is it charges my Nexus 4 perfectly fine, just can't seem to get a good angle with my G3.
The price was the same as the link I posted. Around 30-40usd each. The charger is fine with my nexus as well just not g3.
Seem to me as though the charger coil on the g3 back cover is very small that is causing the issue.
Sent from my LG-F400S using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah I took the cover off my G3 to see if I could see any hint as to how big the coils were or where they were placed but couldn't really see anything.
Did you actually buy your chargers on taobao? I wouldn't trust anything on there to be of good quality.
Maybe the G3 has trouble working with cheap chargers, the proper LG one's i've heard work really well.
I was thinking of getting a better charger, perhaps one with 3 coils see if that makes a difference..
Yeah I got it directly off taobao, there wasn't a good selection of charger when I got the nexus. And especially it was so hard to find a good car charger.
Guess I have no choice but to get the official lg one now.
Sent from my LG-F400S using XDA Free mobile app
I have the same problem with a generic circular one. If the screen is on, the message about the hot zone pops up. If the screen is off however, the charging message pops up. But it does this every few seconds, every time the screen goes off.
If I look at the inside of the cover on mine, I can clearly see the coil layout (you have to look at an angle, under a light) The coil I see looks about the same as a standard one.
The issue, I think, may be down to the NFC coil being in the same location. Qi is supposed to detect foreign metal objects such as keys & coins, and will turn off if they are detected. Maybe the NFC coil is interfering with Qi and the official LG charger has been designed to overcome this issue.
I haven't been able to find the official charger at retail.
Here I have found it on Taobao, the price is pretty steep though about 50USD.
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.46.d314Hi&id=39277673920&ns=1#detail
I got the official charger but same problem for me. Says its loading but when the screen goes of it pops back up. The charger is working fine with my Nexus 7. Anyone who solved this problem yet?
I also have this problem with a premium charger I bought for my note 3. Keeps on telling me to put it in the hot spot and then won't charge. Looks like another problem for the g3 and I'm beginning to wish that I'd kept my note 3
Please help
This is my second try to get an answer to this question. Does anyone here have a us LG G3? The reason I'm asking is I have seen two different charging pin locations one is the international one which has a space between pins 2 and 3and the Korean version which has no spaces between the pins. I want to buy a charging cover and don't know which one to get so hopefully someone here can let me know. Thanks in advance.
i thought only me have this problem.
im using official LG G3 charger WCD-100, while charging the G3, sometimes charging stop for a second and continue. happen so often. the wireless charging notification annoy me, not sure if charging with random disconnect will make the battery life cycle worse
when charging my nexus 5 with the same wireless chager, the charging went smooth, no disconnect happen
i check the back cover and clean the pin, nothing changes, still got random disconnect

Disable the alert with Xposed and G3 Tweaksbox. You can disable the slow charging notification and the hot zone message.

wireless charging alert keeps popping up
Hi to all!
I just got my new LG G3 phone and starting to familiarize its usage. Though one thing I can't figure out is the wireless charging indicator pops up every after 30 seconds or so. Is there any configuration I can set to disable this?
Thanks!
Chris
I'm using a generic charger from dx (the round black one) and positioning is sensitive, but it does work and doesn't keep popping up asking me to reposition it.
I also have a round puck charger and and also one of those Lugalake qi chargers with integrated battery. UK phone.
In both cases the G3 just sits and whines about positioning. The puck thinks it's charging and the battery level increases but the back of the phone gets very hot so I don't think it's 100% right. A hot zone, for sure.

Exact same problem. I am currently using G3 Tweaks Box to remove the annoying notifications that pops up every now and then, but no solution to the actual issue of the phone not charging consistently. Not sure if its the phone or the charger, but am currently thinking of swapping to a better charging stand (the WCD-100 looks pretty inconsistent with the premium look of the phone, plus I'm using a black G3) and hoping that the charging issue would be resolved.
I have the LG WCP-300 and I get the placing message as well, but it charges the phone without any issues. .

[Q] "Helpful" battery full notification

Anyone know how to permanently get rid of this? I used G3 Tweak Box but that just removed the notification in the pull-down. It still vibrates irregularly if you use the phone while it's plugged in as the voltage level climbs and falls. PLEASE for the love of FSM let's get rid of this!

Could be bad hardware cause mine don't vibrate like his. Also xposed does phone to act stupid. Not for everyone but it does.
Its probably because the phone starts charging again when it hits the 99% mark (or close to 99%) then tells you its at 100 again. This phone doesn't have a pass through for power. If your phone is on its using battery even if its plugged in.

Different batteries but it could be my phone thats broke. All I know is this is the first phone I have owned that I can't remove my battery even though its plugged in.
There's been several of these same threads about the persistent battery notification in this forum as well as the general G3 forum, it's not Xposed or faulty phones. What it seems to be is the charger that's being used, most notably if it's not the OEM charger.
Some are saying it's the battery/phone dropping from 100% to 99%, then charging back to 100% and gives the notification. Others are saying it's just saying you're at 100% and flashing it once a minute or so to remind you.
I'm wondering if it's the charger, as when I'm home and it's plugged in on my old Note 3 2amp charger, I don't get that notification during the night when I'm sleeping.
But, when I'm at work and I'm using my Samsung 1amp cube charger, it keeps displaying and sounding that stupid battery full, unplug to save energy notification over and over.
It could be as ThePagel said, the phone is not getting the full power it needs from the charger, so the battery drops to 99% and charges back up to 100%, display notification, rinse and repeat.
That's why I'm assuming it might be the chargers perhaps.
Could be why I don't have this issue. Both my chargers are 2 amps or higher

This describes the problem perfectly. The charger I am using is a 2.1A charger, though, so I don't understand why it keeps doing that. I also don't understand how it could possibly be using enough power to actually discharge the battery down from 100% to 99% WHILE being charged even from a 1A charger. How much freaking juice does this thing need to use?!

I'm not trying to to bad mouth xposed or anything it is really cool but it seems like everything I ever tried to do with xposed is buggy. It really is to bad that most roms depend on it so much now a day's. I miss the hard framework modifications that worked perfect unless the developer made a mistake. But I do understand it can take a long time to add some of the stuff xposed gives for example reboot options. Sorry I just realized I went way off subject lol.

That might be the issue. It might be 2.4 all together but 1.2 per port. I have the note 3 which is 2 amp and the lg one also 2.1. My car has 2 port but it is 4.3 amp so it could do 2.1 per port. That be why I don't have that issue. Try the lg plug and see if it same thing.

Just found an old blackberry USB charger. Holy cow that's old lol. It is .9 amps. I been using my phone and it keep dropping back and fourth. I really dunno what to tell you bro. When I use normal amp stuff I am OK when I use low amp I get what you get. Maybe the new kernel that came out will help you out.

charging issue

is there anyone with problems charging the t320?
it goes fine until 40%, above that or stops charging or is really slow, like 1% in one hour.
i thought it was a rom issue, so i flashed the original rom from sammobile
the charging at this moment is 56%, 150mA average, when isn't negative - 200
this is stock usb and charger, and also with other charger/cable is the same

Pop the back off gently and disconnect the battery from the main board. When you reconnect it, let it charge up fully before turning it back on. After this, it will behave normally for the rest of time.
Thanks

Thanks for the reply but it seems my issue was caused by a faulty outlet socket. The socket works fine for everything else but would only charge the tablet when it was powered down. Tried charging off my laptop and desktop usb and it was the same, but tried some other outlet sockets and they charge fine. I understand the usb outlets might not provide enough to charge the tablet but hadn't considered the socket as I know it works, must be just enough high resistance to prevent it charging a working tablet but provides enough current to charge it when it's powered down. The fact it was showing a 56% charge was just co-incidence.
Thought it might be worth posting this as it's not something I've come across before.

Here's the thing. When mine was misbehaving I could get it to start charging again by switching outlets or even reversing polarity on the wall plug. It was a temporary fix as within days the problem would be back. I thought I had it fixed so many times. It always came back. If it happens to you again just remember the above post. It's been four months since I did it and never once has it been quirky. Something in the hardware needed reset that only disconnecting the battery could do.

It's the faux leather thing you pry off. Keep the angle that you pull on the cover shallow and work it slowly.

cabel pull
hoping this works. I just filled out a warranty email today for same issue on 12.2 Tab Pro. It pried the case open with a credit card. Very slow, took about 7 minutes. Pulling the power cable in the middle, probably behind green tape. Use needle nose pliers or something small behind the wires and pull up. The pins are tiny and will f*ck the whole thing up if bent.
I get the feeling that the screen turns itself on even when eye tracking settings are off or closed in case. I hear the annoying sound at night when charging. Why Sammy does not have a smart current sensor built in is insane. Asking you to unplug when most people will leave on and charge overnight. Just dumb.
I can't get past 57% charging for last 2 weeks. Stock, unrooted for first time in a long time, so I am pissed to hear ROM had not effect. This is likely undocumented hardware issue Sammy doesn't want to admit to.
even on my T325 I had the same problem but I solved it this way ...
I have worn the battery completely until turn off my device, I loaded the battery overnight to device OFF.
wipe and install rom custom samsung
I launched and used app "battery calibraton" (root)
I have now done 4 cycles of charging to 1600/1750 mA

Perhaps not, but I and MANY others have encountered the same problem. Across multiple Roms, fully discharging and recharging, running the so called calibration apps. Rebooting, unpluggin, replugging. The problem NEVER fully went away. It would work for a charge cycle or two or three, then would reappear.
I finally took the back off, unplugged and replugged the connector., closed up the case, charged it for several hours before turning it back on.
Not ONCE has the problem occurred since that intervention. That was over a month ago.
Maybe it's not lithium ion behavior, it might be in the charging circuit and hardware.
If you have a suggestion, then by all means share it so others can solve their problem.

I've already written how I solved the problem, but in 5 years and dozens of Android rom installed on various devices, this problem for me was very frequent.
Always the same. On my ST325 I solved like other times in the past.

the problem is very acute especially after CM11> Pro Plus V2, but the problems had already occurred some time with the various installations buil CM11
about a week I did the operation described above (already done in the past even on my previous samsung device, Note 1, Galaxy s4, Galaxy Mega, Galaxy tab 3 g3 ) with the same result ...
The battery charges very quickly with the device ON to 1700 mA (monitored with "Monitor battery widgwt pro")

Wireless charging fix

The default Samsung wireless chargers are having major issues with it pausing and screen waking.
Two fixes:
Set daydream on in display in settings. If screen locks or sleeps is the claiming issue of the pausing.
Or
Try using the default charger and cord that came with the phone.
The second option worked for me more than the first.
I think the issue is the long cord, so the current is weaker.
I don't have those issues
Wish i could get mine to work. I have tried turning on daydream but i dont want my screen to stay on the whole time its charging so i turned it back off

Running a third party launcher?
Fold a piece of paper in half set it on top of the wireless pad then place your phone. ?

I can tell u on mine it is not a software issue. And i dont thinks its my charger. I can put my regular s6 on there all day and not have it stop charging. Every time i put my plus on there it wont stay charging. Keeps saying charging paused after a short time and the blue light keeps blinking. Reason i doubt its a software issue is it does the same thing when phone is fully shut down

The default Samsung wireless chargers are having major issues with it pausing and screen waking.
Two fixes:
Set daydream on in display in settings. If screen locks or sleeps is the claiming issue of the pausing.
Or
Try using the default charger and cord that came with the phone.

The main 2 fixes I keep seeing is that:
Wireless charger my be overpowered by charger and the other is daydream as a temp fix.
I have a case and my samsung wireless charger works just fine

This cant be right. Its a hardware issue with the phone itself. Prob something to do with the actual fast charging reciever inside the phone. I have charged my regular s6 without any issues dozens of times on the same charging pad that wont charge the edge+ or note 5. If yours works with the note5 or edge + then u got lucky. I dont think its a software issue as it does the same thing when phone is totally shut off

"Now" meaning it wasnt working before? Or has it always been working for u? Some people have been lucky enough to not have any charging issues. What did u do that made it atart working?

Wasn't working was pausing all the time. I bought one of those love Mei cases and now it works great. It may just be to close to the pad.
AOI6 update seems to slove this issue. Had no problems doing a quick top off. No problems overnight woke up to a full charge.

I've noticed, the temp fixes helped for a bit for me. Now not needed.
wireless charging issues
If any one still has wireless charging issues if you go to developer options and activate the stay awake while charging feature, the phone charges without pausing. My phone was experiencing the pausing while mid charge even after the update. I tried the daydream method that didnt work. But trying the stay awake while charging in the developer options drop down. It charges without pausing. Sweet!!! i thought i was going to have to buy a new charger, this one was free.

I've tried that but I noticed after the last update it started working fine. I think they fixed the cfg of the wireless charging.

Pixel stand is not rapid charging

I have had my phone on charge this morning for way over 3 hours. It's not even charged 20%.
I didn't use my pixel stand. But I used a third part wireless charger today at work (I know, only 5w) and it couldn't even get my phone more than 4% charged from where it started. I've been using this wireless charger for a week and left work every day with 98%. Today I'm at 69%. Was there a software update overnight?
mine works perfect. make sure your centered on the stand, i know that one night, i thought it was on the stand correctly, but it wasnt.. and didnt charge at all that night.
The obvious
Any wireless charger even the better ones like the pixel specific one will always be a lot less than the I see n charger.
The idea behind the dock is that whenever you rest or down during the peak hours when you're using it on and off, you end up resting it on the charger, so at the very least it stops depleting.
If you need a proper quick charge boost, like 10 mins before you jump in a taxi at 2am to your new tinder / grindr friend, then use the dedicated quick charge plug

Reboot your phone and try put it again at the stand. Every time it works for me when mine begin to charge at the stand slowly. Hope Google will fix it.
I had this issue when i first got my pixel stand while using it with a case.
I had the moment case on my phone, and it would only slow charge. I took the case off put it on the pixel stand (which now shows fast charge), took off stand put the case back on and when i put the phone back on now it always shows fast charge.
hope that helps

Once I put my Pixel at the stand and it showed "charging slowly". I left it there, but when I checked it some time later it showed "charging rapidly". So, maybe in some cases it needs some time to recognize protocol and switch from slow to rapid charge. It happened several times (but before the last update).
the pixel stand is a buggy expensive mess! it randomly switches to slow charging and even in rapid charging it doesnt charge as fast as Samsung does on wireless charge
Do you guys have an issue with the Clock Screen Saver coming up? If i set it for "charging or docked", it will work while charging via USB every time. But it rarely, if ever, works on the Stand.
I'm a bit disappointed with the stand as well! Especially since it costs so much!!
I've seen people talk about updates?? Is there anything I need to update in regards too the stand??
I have had no problems with the stand at all. Rapid charges, pulls up pics when the lights are on, switches to clock when I turn the light off, and initiates do not disturb. All good here.

I can't believe you're satisfied with the POS called PhotoFrame... It stops for the DUMBEST reason and NEVER RESUMES the slideshow! WTF! Why is grabbing something near the pixel stand STOPS the slideshow? Why is a SPAM CALL stops the slideshow? But that is really not a big problem if the slideshow is smart enough RESUMES after a period of time. But it never does! It's a BROKEN FUNCTION and they have the nerve to charge us money for it... A wireless charger aint worth $100!

I'm even disappointed that I had to use free store credit to purchase this glorified wireless charger. It seems to offer a lot of great ideas that fall short of poor execution and logic that simply makes no sense.
An update has just been released for the Pixel Stand app.
What pixel stand App? Have search on the words in Play store. Nothing with the specific phase.
