Ah - answering my own question somewhat - the wifi is broken if you update the phone OTA first. Stick with the original build (same number as the rooted boot.img above) then wifi works fine with root.
I'll try to get an OTA working and will root that boot.img when I get around to it and update here if I can.

wifi issues
ugh...i rooted after the phone was updated now no wifi...what about finding the stock recovery and stock rom and just re-flashing?

I had this issue with r17 even though franco insists (he's probably correct) that it is not the kernel. All I know is what is. No problem on the N5. ElementalX worked fine on N7. This was on 4.4.4 stock running Xposed.
Fast charge not working
Is it just me or the fast charge isn't working on the latest release?
@franciscofranco
I should have read the last page of posts before I try r20 on my N7 2013 LTE this afternoon.
Got frozen at start up or android update screen.
tried ElementalX, works fine, but really want to use franco kernel......
so keep the stock for now.

Ok, I don't know what recovery you used, but you should use TWRP 2.6.3.3 for Android JB .

Hi Surdu, first of all thank you for all those work that you have done, you must have sleepless night. I have one question regarding coverting back from Omnirom 4.4.4 to CM10.1 using the latest TWRP 2.8.0.0, will I see any problem? Reason I asked is because you mentioned we should use TWRP 2.6.3.3 so was hoping to understand and do it right the first time. Thanks.

supersu no binaries & unofficial pacman no signal

I just installed this as a secondary ROM (primary is SD v4.1 Sense 7) and for some reason I am getting no signal and I get an error while trying to search for networks. Any ideas why? Could it be that I am running it from MulitROM? I never had that issue before, though.

unlocked my phones bootloader, flashed twrp, flashed supersu but says no binaries are installed & supersu cannot install it, besides this flashed the unofficial pacman 5.0.2 rom & I have no signal it wont even attempt to search networks either.
followed a youtube video on how to unlock bootloader, flash twrp & supersu but supersu seems to be the only thing that didnt work, can anyone help me fix this issue?
Try downloading another supersu flashable zip and flash it in recovery again. If this doesn't work, you could have a firmware/radio issue which could cause you to have signal issues. So double check your firmware to make sure you're on the latest lollipop firmware.

[Q] [Q&A] [RECOVERY] can't access recovery after CWM 4.0.0.9 flash - Galaxy GT-S5830
Hi everyone,
I'm new so please be gentle with me -
Have just rooted my Galaxy GT-S5830
Running Gingerbread 2.3.4,
Baseband S5830BVKQB,
Kernel version [email protected]#1,
Build number GINGERBREAD.BVKQ9
using the file for the GT-S5830 from here: ( http://dengadgets.blogspot.co.uk/20...e-gt-s5830-android-gingerbread-smarphone.html - root_S5830.zip) successfully, copying it to the root folder of the SD card and flashing it from recovery.
I Then tried to flash CWM 4.0.0.9 using the same method (which I got from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1168417 )
Now when I try and reboot in recovery it crashes at the Galaxy Ace screen, otherwise boots fine - not sure why and am unsure about what to do about it. From reading a fair few Q+A posts I think I might need to flash the phone with stock rom using odin, but:
If I do will that wipe my data?
Is there another way?
How do I avoid getting back in the same mess when flashing CWM?
If I do flash a stock rom / firmware with odin, does it have to be the one that was on there originally [France (Orange)] or can I use the latest UK one (with Gingerbread 2.3.5)? Would putting the French Orange firmware back on re-lock my phone?
I have data on the phone that I really don't want to lose, particularly on memo - backing it up is one of the main reasons why i'm going through this in the first place...
Tried to post on the thread above but have less than 10 posts, so can't - I really apologise if this has been answered many times - i can't find it but would be grateful to anyone that can help / point me in the right direction
