Nice launcher found - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
after trying a lot of different launchers i got a real nice one working. Different iconsettings are possible.
Setup via mouse, but then completly controllable via remote.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.squarehome&hl=de
Set as default with HomeSmack. But take yourself a closer look ^-^
Feel free to share different launchers u use.
Btw does anybody got livewallpapers working?
ps. one negative point. i don't get widgets to work. maybe someone can help.
pps. Please move, if the threat is in a wrong section.

Interesting, I'll have to check it out. I'm using Nova right now, which works well for my needs. No wallpaper though. I suspect this has it's own wallpaper versus the built-in android wallpaper. I've yet to find a way to make the android wallpaper system work. I believe it's missing something, which would include the use of live wallpapers. I'll give this a go tonight and see how it does.

lol I already posted about it I used it for a while but this launcher is great but simply I wanted something else.
Make sure to use tablet version not phone
PS. does home smack work without root so try and use on fire sticks ?

@ patt2k
oh real? sry have missed your post.
@xm41907
also tried with stock live wallpaper apk. but no result. systemwallpaper seems to be disabled.
would be cool, if someone find a solution.
@ all
but why not stick a topic, where everyone might post their setup, so that anyone can see, what launcher you all use.
pics would also be nice ^-^

Updated Car Home

I know that the G2 has a "newer" car home app, and I thought it was the latest one until I read this:
http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2010/10/car-home-for-android-gets-personal.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+OfficialGoogleMobileBlog+(Official+Google+Mobile+Blog)&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher
The "newest" car home allows you to add your own shortcuts to it, give car home its own background, and change icon tint color. When you search for it in market, it does not show up.
I am guessing there is little we can do for this without root, but I was wondering if anyone may have an APK that we could install for the updated car home.
You can use appbrain to update Car Home.

I second that. I thought that I updated mine through AppBrain but I don't see any difference (ie few empty spaces for icons and no way to add custom shortcuts).
Can someone may be very nice and upload a working apk or a link for us? Not that I'm lazy, just not sure which one is the right one.
Thank you in advance.
i updated to the newer car home on my nexus and liked the ability re-arrange and add shortcuts. i was missing that on my G2. even tho the app is only for the droid and n1 officially, it works just dandy on my G2. i found the apk via a google search. try this: https://sites.google.com/site/droidlife54/home/com.google.android.carhome-1.apk?attredirects=0&d=1

using custom icons?

Just trying to figure out how to use custom icon packs? and where to get them?
Ive never really done much in the way of customising my phone, and just installed Go launcher EX..
Managed to get a nice black and white thing going but obviously all the icons are the standard sgs2 ones. so what would be the easiest way to replace them?
Thanks for any help
Still learning myself, but check this thread in the Android Themes forum (not specific to the SGS2)
Hope that's what you're wanting...
thanks for that..
Didnt realize you had to alter each icon 1 at a time linking each 1 to the one you want it to replace though... was kinda hoping just to download a pack,, install it and it would auto replace all the relevant icons., heh

Creating Icons

Hello there,
Like title suggests, I want to creat my own icons to fit certain themes/wallpapers. I can make icons in Photoshop, so that's no problem, thing is, I have no idea how to get them on my phone, and can't really find much information about it.
If someone could please kindly point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks
There's no short answer really. I guess the easiest way would be to use something like nova launcher that allows you to long press and change the icons 1 at a time. If you want to get into theming whole swaths of your icons at once, I've seen how-to's here on theming roms etc...
Hmm, thanks, better than nothing by far
Defenately enough to keep me going for a while to figure out if I really want to do this and if I'm any good at it.
Thanks

Well using Nova launcher is the best way to go at it. You can change the original icons from the standard apps by replacing them in their apks, but that will take some more time^^

[Lockscreen apps] An awsome article...

I just had to post this. It's about how to change the lockscreen apps. I have been searching for something like this ever since i got mine HOX and to night i finaly found this article.
Link to it

Please don't kill me if there are already a post about it. I have been trying to find something like this for month.
Note from me:
I my self are using the Apex launcher therefor I didn't find out of the connection mentioned in the article. But however, i find it realy usefull when i can have different apps in the launcher and the lockscreen. Thought I think HTC could have made this kinda' setting in a better way
Not trying to be funny like but.. that's pretty much common sense and probably one of the reason's you could not find a thread/tutorial for it,
glad ye discovered it anyways ...

Cause previously i had saw on sense devices but not own it myself.
Dunno the previous behavior of it.

Autumn Leaves on Water Live Wallpaper missing after update to Lollipop?

Hey everyone
I just updated my M8 (stock, no root) to Lollipop, and I noticed the Live Wallpaper with the leaves on the water is missing. Is there any way I can download it from somewhere and add it again? Do you guys have it?
Thanks!
[bumping for visibility after thread move]
Try the app called zegde......may be worth a shot.
I'll try, thank you.
Can anyone else who's updated to Lollipop confirm that specific Live Wallpaper has been removed?
I can't fathom why, either.

None of the live wallpapers on Zegde is very similar...
Is there any way to extract that specific live wallpaper from another stock phone and insert it into the Lollipop M8?

I can confirm. I have the 2nd gen moto g xt1068 and I lost it too. I wish they'd warned us. I have a family member with dementia who gets agitated. I'd bring that image up through the choose wallpapers menu and he found it very soothing to look at. It was a godsend at the emerg. I'm also looking for a way to re-install it. I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354783 but I can't seem to get it to install. I'll post back if I have any luck.

I think you need root access to write LiveWallpapers.apk in the correct folder, which I lack, cos the M8 I'm working on isn't mine personally, and I'm not about to go fiddling with root access on someone else's phone
Also I think LiveWallpapers.apk can only be installed on the same model of phone it was extracted from...
I had posted in this forum to see if anyone know how to extract a specific live wallpaper from LiveWallpapers.apk, and install it as an external live wallpaper, but no one seems to know how it works
