[Q] Advice on which LG G3 to buy - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys,
I am about to buy my first LG Phone. I have been using Sony phones from the Xperia Z to Z3 so its high time to change. However I have 2 models from which I need to select
1. LG G3 D855
2. LG G3 D858 (Dual Sim)
I kinda prefer the dual sim because it relatively newly released but my only concern is whether it will get the android 5.0 Lollipop update.
Appreciate if you could help me out in deciding which model I should go for
Thanks in advance
Sarah

i would suggest the f460 , the upgraded version that's using the new 805 cpu with 3gb of ram , much better and very fast , if u insist to choose among those mentioned above then u shouldn't worry about the lollipop update , soon or later it will be there for sure .
good luck

I would advice the D855 32GB for the EU especialy for the compatible LTE bands. I have it myself and its a great device. The D855 also has the most support in development if you want/plannned to do that

Yeah indeed the d855 is the most supported for custom roms.. But i think the stock lollipop is solid enough.. Anyway if you're concerned with the f460 you should ask if someone got it there in the EU to make sure which bands it support .

LG G3 - Model Korea F400L

Can anyone let me know if there is a CyanogenMod rom for this particular model.
Also - is there a TWRP recovery install for the F400L
Chainfire has written that Google has made it much harder to root Android L (material), will there be any developer who will
work on this particular model once L is out.
Also i just read that Lg has already starter upgrading the L version in Poland as of these past 2 or 3 days, anyone has new info.
I am worried that for some reason the F400 will not receive any attention from now on, Is that correct.
I love the phone and the Sphynx rom is incredible but there is no comparison with the custom roms for this model compared to the Samsung Galaxy s4 (mind you the g3 is light years ahead from the s4)
any answer will be very appreciated, I am a 70 year old who is worried that his investment in the phone are going down the toilet, Is that so?

Thinking about buying a Zenfone 2, worth it?

Guys I wanna know how are the custom roms and how the phone works. I have a S3 with an Exynos CPU and devs have a hardtime to make AOSP roms to my phone. Does this happens on Zenphone 2?
Ditto Im on N7100, Im seeing x86 as potential to exynos, except if the source is leaked to developer someday developer will stopped updating or facing problems when Asus stop updating their flagship arround 2016
Im considering it with Redmi Note 2 Prime... it has Octacore but lack of NFC and only 2G ram
I might still happy with my N7100 (the also canceled Lollipop yeah,,, rite done with samsung, no need waste money for flagship anymore or buy Iphone if you want flagship) untill Prime arrives in my country or ZE551ML fix the battery issue, then Ill upgrade to one of them
above 1.8Ghz processor eats battery like a pro without good software
Btw this is general section I dunno if this question can be here or not
I'm currently running a 5.1.1 AOSP ROM, with the developer looking at 6.0. The ROM runs flawlessly; this phone really shines with lightweight Android on it.

Great
I have played around with all the custom roms on here - they all work great but when news of ASUS working on 6.0 came out I went back to stock so I would be ready for it. Just do yourself a favor and get it from ASUS. Too many people on here have found out the hard way they overpayed for a CN model with WW firmware flashed on it. Get the right model and you will love it for a long time

I got the ze551ml - 4gb/64gb version. The problem people have been having is going to ebay or amazon or some dinky shop hoping to save a few bucks and wind up with a chinese phone with the global software flashed on it. The chinese model has lte bands that are not used in places like the United States and Canada. Just get it from asus on their website. They will ensure you get the right phone for your area.

If I buy will be this one: Asus Zenfone 2 32GB Preto (ZE551ML-6A208WW)
I just went to ASUS website and did not see that model. I am in the United States so it might not be meant for me

So ZE551ML is good?
yup, it's good. the 32gb/4 gb versión is the Chinese version, you would have to flash the ww rom to get gapps. also I think it doesn't have some of the lte bands used on the states. go for the 64/4, 16/4 or 16/2 that sell on amazon at 299,229 and 199 respectively, they are all the 551 ML

Be aware of te limitations though (talking about ZE551ML/ZE550ML). Sim2 is only 2G and has no data support. Check the LTE band support of the version you get. CN, TW and WW have different LTE support.
All other ZenFone 2 variants that are not x86 (any other than ZE551ML/ZE550ML) may have poor third party dev support, and probably less attention from ASUS too going forward, as the x86 version is the flagship.
So guys, should I buy it or not? I don't wanna make another mistake like I did with the S3 on which I didn't have custom roms of AOSP with quality
Considering between Zenfone 2 and Moto G 2015 tho...
I switched from the S5 and couldn't be happier. Best phone switch I have ever done. If you do go with the Zenfone 2 I would recommend the 4gig version, it is well worth it
While I haven't used any CM or AOSP based ROM, some people say it's good for everyday use. I like the stock ROM, I only use a custom kernel (project T) and have the phone rooted and with TWRP. There are also some stock based ROMs, mostly to remove bloat.
The only advantage of getting the Moto G would be better battery life, but in everything else the ZF2 leaves it in the dust.

Xiaomi redmi note3 is a better choice now, about 200$

LG G3 32GB (D855) developments same for LG G3 16GB (D855)?

good day/night guys,
quick question, I'm a bit unsure about developments for the 32GB version of the LG G3.
I've searched the forum but only found general developments which states D855. Is rooting, custom roms, developments etc. the same for the 32GB model
Please shed some light, thanks in advance

Storage space makes no difference with the LG G3.
You may see some optimized roms for a specific storage version but usually anything for d855 will work on yours.
If you have the 16gb variant, don't worry at all, that's the most common one. If you have the 32gb one, be aware that some roms may not take full advantage of the 3gb ram, but that's about it.

Buying LG G3 D855 2GB , Good Choice ?

Hey everyone , i know its a bit too late to buy a "Flagship" Device especially after 2 years but since my budget constraints it sooooo.... anyway my question is that i wasnt able to find 32Gig with 3GB ram so buying 2GB variant is a good idea ? i have seen lags on Nexus 5x and a reason why i didnt consider it , since G3 is an all rounder so i thought of buying it , Do you suggest me to buy it ? would it offer a satisfactory performance ? (i am not a fan of snapdragon 810/820) , i have been using Galaxy Note 3 (SD 800) and was never disappointed with it

Dont have 16 gb but 32gb with 3gb ram good choice but the orginal d855 not the refurbished one...also i think MM is the last official update for lg g3....but you can update non stock rom if you scrifice little bit camera quality....think so
I have had the 16GB D855 model for over a year now and handles everything I throw at it. Granted I cant comment on the stock firmware as I have been using Fulmis ROM, which in my opinion is the best stock based ROM on LG G3. Especially with all the tweaks, mods and the new UX 5.0 user interface included in the ROM.

(Q-HELP) - Advice needed regarding root & specs for a new LG phone purchase

Hi everyone ,
Looking for a new (2018-19) LG model, either global or EU version, that's currently getting development for custom roms and root with following specs:
1. Dual sim 2. Quad Dac 3. Fm radio 4. C-type usb 5. MIL-STD-810G compliant - IP68 and 6. If possible, also wireless charging.
I'd really appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this quest. Kinda troublesome with all these new models LG has brought out in the market .

The V50 's kinda exceeding my budget. I was thinking of somewhere around 300-350$ or less ofc.
Btw ,if my understanding from my readings here is correct, is that the G7 ThinQ is actually supporting the above mentioned requirements, right?

As I said , the v50 is above my budget, plus it's screen size is a bit too big for my taste and it doesn't have FM radio. So, to repeat my question, does the G7 ThinQ current custom rom development support all specs of the device? For e.x. is the dual SIM spec working, among others ?
Or are there any other LG dual SIM devices fully supported?
