If you bought your phone from a Verizon store then you have a Retail version of the Note 4. The Developer Edition of the Note can only be purchased (new) from Samsung. There currently is no way to root the retail version of the Note 4.

Found a site who's tryin' to brick the noobs.

Has anyone tried giefroot? I tried it on my Note 4, but it doesn't work since the kernel is too new. Did anyone with the old firmware try it?

I'd wager most of my earnings that there isn't many methods that haven't been looked into at this point. When something works there will probably be an explosion within the community that you won't be able to avoid even if you try... But, I'm happy to see others enthusiastic about finding the necessary info.

Hi there,
Im currently on ATT and would like to be able to use the Galaxy Note 3 with all of the cool ROMs you folks have with an unlocked bootloader. Am I correct in my thoughts that I could simply buy an unlocked T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 and it would work with my ATT SIM Card?
If so, where would be the best place to purchase one?
Thanks.
Yes att sim works. Not sure about all the ROMS. i'm just rooted using towelroot.

I bought mine from t mobile. You have to wait 45 days for the unlock code though. I was at mobile customer until they stopped the employee discount for my work, so I went to att. Try out swappa, they have plenty for sale.
You can use att roms as well as t mobile and international with the n900t.

I got my from Ebay . I got tired of not being able to use custom roms like CM or Aosp and not being able to use custom kernels. You can unlock for cheap with Region unlock app. THERE IS A GUIDE ON THE att forum. You will not regret it. Keep in mind that we you flash the custom recovery your Knox Counter will trip and there is no way to reverse it so if you need Knox keep the AT&T Device as its basically the same thing but if you're like me and don't care about Knox go ahead.

Make sure you get one with a clean Imei from a reputable seller Bad Imei will not work.

Theoretically could I just buy an unlocked one from EBay and be set?
I concur with the poster that recommended Swappa. With so many financed T-Mobile phones out there, I'd be wary of eBay. Swappa checks IMEIs so you have a higher level of comfort. I've purchased my current N3 there at good price.

Rom zips do not contain baseband info. You install it like any other, just download, flash, and enjoy. The only thing is if on touchwiz you will need to follow the directions above.
Flash rom
Flash kernel for n900t
Flash BT/WiFi fix
Profit!

Rent a Center is now selling unlocked Samsung phones at semi reasonable prices.
$34 a week for a N900T Unlocked Note III
$800.00 if you pay all at once, more if you spread it out.
I also saw S5's, S4's and other style phones while I was there.
I purchased mine, new in the box, for substantially less from RAC because I was lucky I suppose you could say.
Good luck
I am on the N900T with att service, use RegionLock Away on the market, it works like a champ, use that anytime you switch modems, it will work every time, I haven't had one issue yet, and great reception also.
Also, as stated above, NO custom roms change the baseband (modem), it only changes if you change it.
Good luck!!

Verizon Tab S 8.4 - Did I purchase a Unicorn?

So, my local Non-Corporate Verizon store had a sale this weekend on the Tab S 8.4. I didn't even know this was available for Verizon. The only Tab S on the website is the 10.5 model.
So, searching the web, I have found a few sites listing this model, but not for sale anywhere.
It is SM-T707V. Looks like it has the snapdragon.
As for root or anything custom, will I be out of luck, since no one else has this model to test?
I attached a few images.
Thanks.
As for root, if their was a way to export a copy of your recover img and other stuff then someone can port root. But idk how to pull the files to get root. But your tab s is faster then exynos chipset
I'm about to have the same problem, I think. I'm getting mine from AT&T, and it's another T707. I'm getting the feeling that we'll be SOL when it comes to root, recovery, and roms. :crying:

If we can find a way to pull your recovery. Img and give it to chainfire or beanstown so they can port it. As of now no. I have no idea how to pull the recovery also. Not sure if twrp can work on your device? Is your bootloader locked?

Well turn off your device.
Now hold power, home, vol down till it saids warning you are about to install a custom os. Now just press the volup. If you can access that it should be unlock. Now to exit, now do power, home, vol down again and it should reboot.
I think there may be a way to root your model tablets unless the bootloader is unlocked.
My think was since twrp works on the 805 and 705 also, shouldnt that mean they should be the same for all versions of the tab s if the have the same chip? Because twrp was build for the tab s wifi devices but still worked on the lte devices. So what i thought is that they should work for the 807s with unlocked bootloaders the same way they did with the lte tab s. Then if they can get that installed all they need to do is flash supersu zip since cfautoroot does the same. Though this is jist a though but could get you guys root. Highly not recommned you try it thoufg. But just check if your bootloader is unlocked with what i told you and well see if the root method I thought of may start something. But twrp only works on eynos.... So.. Idk
I'd really just be happy with a working root method. A recovery would be nice, but not really necessary for me since there's not likely to be any development for these weird US lte variants.

Hi, where did you find the T707v? I have looked almost everywhere.
The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is available for other carriers, but I haven't found it for Verizon.
Thank you if you reply, Jeff
TCC Wireless - http://www2.ecellularconnection.com/
They are a non-corporate Verizon retailer. They seem to be the only ones carrying it.
It is an approved Verizon device, but not sold at Verizon corporate stores. ( I Guess )
Do you know if it is locked to Verizon and also has the LTE bands to work on AT&T?

Answered my own question. Got one. Both Verizon and AT&T sim cards work.
Yes they do. I forgot to get on here and post an update. The bad boy is GSM unlocked with full LTE on the major carriers.
You guys all got unicorns (the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 with the Snapdragon). I wish I had seen this thread before I purchased the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 a few weeks ago. For some reason my Google Alert didn't pick it up.
I have 2 questions for those who bought the Verizon from TCC Wireless.
1) Was it $99 with a 2 year contract with Verizon or was it $99 straight up no contract?
2) What color is it, white or titanium bronze?
I'm a little disappointed that it only has the Snapdragon 800 instead of the 801 but either of them is better began the Exynos in the other versions.

[Q] Does Chainfire root work for my GN4?

I pre-ordered the Galaxy Note 4 from Verizon, and I'd heard over on the AT&T side that there was a Chainfire root exploit for the Galaxy Note 4. It turns out, the build listed on Chainfire's site is KTU84P.N910VVRU1ANI1. This is my phone's Build Number. I've also heard that currently, only the Developer Edition, which apparently is also an SM-N910V model number, is rootable, where as the retail version is not.
Do I actually have the Dev edition and didn't even know it or is what I saw on Chainfire's website not actually what I think it is? Here's a link to his site, scroll down for a list of phones. http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/

If you ordered your Note 4 directly from Samsung, not pre-ordered from Verizon, then you may have a Developer Device. Take the back cover off, remove the battery and if it says "Developer Device" then you have a Developer Device. The only root available for the Verizon Note 4 is on the Developer Devices. There is no root for the retail version yet.

I will check later today. What would happen if someone were to run the said root on a locked phone? Would this brick my phone beyond being able to recover it?

I called tmobile and ask them if they could flash my unlocked att samsung galaxy note 4 to the tmobile software. They said that they could not and i have to call samsung. I called samsung and spoke to level 2 tech support. Level 2 told me that i can go to a bestbuy store and visit the samsung shop inside of bestbuy and they can reflash the software. I ask the level 2 person again that i did not want a reflash of att software but i wanted the att software fully removed and tmobile samsung note 4 software flashed. He said again that it could be done because the att and tmobile versions of the phone are same hardware wise only thing that is different is the software. I can not say for sure of this works because i have not gone to bestbuy yet to have it done. I wanted to see first what other people here thought about what i was told. Then i would go and get it reflashed.

If you're taking advice from phone reps and bestbuy employees you probably dont need unlocked bootloader.

It won't work. The ATT phone has a locked bootloader, which means that the ONLY software (official or custom) you'll be able to flash is the ATT firmware made for that phone. I'm not sure, but you may even brick your phone.
Those reps know nothing except what their computer screens tell them. Don't listen to them. These are the same people whose only solution for a problem with your phone is a factory reset or sending in your new phone in exchange for a "factory refurbished" one.

Can the bootloader on an Unlocked att Note 4 be unlocked

Hi,
I know there is no way to unlock the bootloader on an att Note 4, but if ATT unlocks it would it become an International Version and can the bootloader be unlocked? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Young fool.... only now do you realize the power of evil AT&T produces.
Now Rosachin, you will die.
(In all realness, no of course not. ATT ain't that nice nor will it ever be. You can unlock the phone in terms of cellular network but that's it.)
I cant believe I didnt come here before I bought 2 brand new at&t Note 4's Unlocked. What an idiot I am. Just never had a at&t and didnt think anything of it because everytime I have wanted to root and mod my previous phones, I never had a problem.. I never had at&t though.. uhhgg. maybe by the time I just cant stand the stock rom, they will unlock the bootloader? I dont know if that's how it works...
Oh well, sad man here.

Well, I just sent a return request for one of the note 4's. AND just bought a USED sm910T from ebay.
So, instead of me getting a brand new AT&T UNMODDABLE note 4, I will be getting a used but in great condition T-Mobile note 4.
And if I can get out of the restocking fees from the return, I will come out 50 bucks ahead. Cool.
The other new note 4 went to my daughter for xmas, and she already broke the screen. DOH!!
I lucked out this time I guess.
Cheers all.

Yeah man, I'ved used At&t for years. Some phones still ended up rooting and unlocked (Sky-Rocket, LG E970, and Note II) this is the 1st phone I purchased that couldn't be rooted to install ROMs and Mods. Very annoyed but glad to know after this experience we know not to buy from At&t directly. Either buy unlocked form Swappa, eBay or Amazon or know that you will be limited when you buy from carrier. In the mean time if you really want out, pay the bill so its clear for selling, and sell it online or in person. Also you can wait it out until the next upgrade.

Never again for me, not directly from AT&T & maybe not Samsung. [AT&T-Captivate, and VZ-Note2..rooted and other ROM'd but now ]. Question: what aspect of the hardware allows a carrier's specific bands of LTE to function? Or is it that the hardware is fully "plastic", capable of any LTE banding given the software[albeit locked] and SIM[mine unlocked] ? There are multiple Note4's. AT&Ts also runs UMTS and GSM. T's? Verizon's also runs its EV-DO. Perhaps these 2G, and 3G aspects become irrelevant and the 4G/LTE buildout completes, but the question remains over capability on carrier specific LTE bands.
With my SIM unlocked Note4 I used a VODA SIM this summer in Italy, but don't recall whether I had access to LTE , or evn which data mode functioned.
Ok, I hope I don't get in trouble for asking this here. . I tried to search but I'm not real good on this phone yet. . That's no excuse, I know. ..
Anyway, I received my T-Mobile Note 4 today and I want to root it right away as I am an owner of titanium backup and rom toolbox.
I am wondering if there is an easy way to root my device without installing a custom kernel AND not require a pc?
If I have to use a custom kernel, which one is the most stable?
My device specs are
SM-N910T3
Android 5.1.1
LMY47X.N910T3UVU1DOK2
KNOX 2.4.1
I have data turned off on my phone and disabled data from my carrier. I use WiFi and no data. .
Again I'm sorry for asking this but it's been a real long time since I have installed custom anything and my pc blue screens randomly so I'm afraid to try rooting my phone that way.
Please, step by step, easy tutorial or a link to where I need to go?
Thanks a bunch.

The real reason carriers lock bootloaders (just remove the space after www and http)
http s://www .youtube.com/watch?v=gpVocvREboo&list=UURAxVOVt3sasdcxW343eg_A&app=desktop
[email protected] the space. Ironically....yeah i will remove the space so you can suffer clicking on the link on your phone...
Since we are on the subject of bootloaders. It's been a while since I flashed a custom rom on a phone. But from what I remember, isn't the bootloader these pictures that I attached? I took pictures on my AT&T Note 4.
Thanks
Yes i have read the whole thing.
Ok, to cut a long story short;
i bought a note 4 on an online australian shop for $470 (really hard without a job)
Anyway, they noted that their phones are from GENUINE Suppliers and i got a Note 4 UNLOCKED from, you guessed it. AT&T.
Now i wasnt too fussed. I was happy i got a note 4 that wasnt a chinese brick phone, since it technically was refurbished from their Hong Kong Warehouse. Anyways
After like...idk 2 months? approx? i decided i wanna root it. Guess what?! BOOTLOADER. WHAT THE ***T!!
Anyway, i spoke to some people, one said he hasnt rooted a phone passed gen 6. and the other person said 'no cant root. Bootloader is locked and no way to bypass.'
Soo im wondering if its possible to root the phone without removing bootloader? I dont restart my phone much and the whole bootloader doesnt worry me so im just curious if i can chuck a stock rom on without worrying about the bootloader.
Some background info:
I am Australian, therefore my phone is running under Australian networks (Boost, Lyca, Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, etc)
It is filled with unwanted, unnecessary AT&T bloatware.

No root or bootloader unlock yet or maybe ever....u can disable all the att stuff but not remove completely without root. At least it will cleanup ure app drawer a lil.
AT&T note 4 update?
I'm seeing the most recent updates being in 2016. Is there any new updates on the progress of unlocking bootloader for this device?

Hi,
I know there is no way to unlock the bootloader on an att Note 4, but if ATT unlocks it would it become an International Version and can the bootloader be unlocked? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Ripping encrypted DVDs (or DVDs locked to a region) = unlocked
PlayStation 3 = reverse engineered
iPhone = jailbroken
Why isn't the AT&T Note4 unlocked yet? Would offering a bounty help? Is it impossible to unlock? Is it a matter of time? Is it a matter of throwing lots of computation power against the lock?
What will finally get the AT&T Note4 unlocked?

With that, the ATT Note 4 may very well be, the most secure mobile phone ever!

Is there no bounty offered? If each ATT Note4 owner chips in a few dollars, we could raise a bounty of several hundred dollars. Then some tech-wiz can take much time trying to unlock the bootloader.
Anybody else willing to contribute to a bounty?
