[Q] Signal problem come two days after phone dropped in subway - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Dropped my I317 from the lift to the floor inside Subway, height is around 3m plus.
It is still working well after the drop, Screen no damage, 4G LTE network connected, call quality well.
Just the screen protector get split.
But started this morning, it has totally no signal in my office building,
I get intermittent signal loss when I back home, some time 1 -2 par, some time no signal
When I go outside buildings, signal is good with 4G speed
Is this problem related with the drop?
How to fix it? replace antenna cable or flash modem?
Thank you for any sharing!

Sounds like you might have a old modem. Setting, about device, baseband version=modem
For newer modems look here>>Section #3:good:

Thanks Bajanman,
It seems that my baseband is still there, version I317UCBMK6,
I use the following 4,3 rom I317-UCUBMK6, what should I do with the modem setting?

Any reason I wouldnt be able to connect to 4g in a 4g covered area?

I currently cant connect to 4g at my house, sprint and clear show im in a good spot for 4g but I cant seem to connect. About 3 weeks ago when I got the phone I wasn't in a covered area but it appears they just added a new tower and now I am. I didn't try to connect again before I flashed a new ROM however. Ive also tried standing outside on my deck to no avail.
Specs are attached as well as my coverage map. If we can get this fixed I'll paypal you a beer.

The coverage map for my city is completely wrong. Using Sensorly to map for a couple weeks showed what I have already observed, massive holes in the coverage here despite Sprint showing solid coverage.
That doesn't mean that's the case where you are at. Find someone else who gets 4g and try yours in the same area.
Agreed, I believe that most coverage maps are for the most part utter BS. Try going back to stock to rule out rom issues. Were you ever able to connect to 4g in a known 4g area?

if you've installed the latest OTA and wimax and you have your phone rooted, this might be the problem.

GPS test

Hi all, I am a G2x user and the random reboots are killing me but everything else about my tegra 2 just rocks. Especially the GPS.. which is one reason why I jumped from samsung vibrant onto something else.. and the lack of camera flash was pretty annoying.
Not that you Sprint people would know but anyways..
My roommate just got this phone and a few of my other friends have nothing but good things to say about it, and as soon as I put it in my hand i was reminded of how bad the GPS was on my vibrant... well I downloaded the app GPS Test from Chartcross and compared his GPS to mine and I was instantly let down. Normally I would be psyched to defeat another phone with mine but with the sgs2 variant coming to T-mobile I was going to upgrade as soon as possible.

That is what I got with my G2X. His E4GT only locked on to 3-4 sattelites and was accurate to at most 150 feet. The phones were side by side so location shouldnt have anything to do with it.
T-mobile sucks in my area anyways, while others get 3G im still stuck with edge (dial up) network. Thinking about just abandoning the network all together. And was possibly gonna wait for the Prime but since that is most likely going to be samsung it will probably have a crap GPS radio as well.
How are you guys experiences with your GPS? How about signal strength?
Bueller, Anyone?
I grabbed GPS Test and GPS Status. GPS Test picked up 7/9 satellites and narrowed down to accuracy within 36' in about five seconds. GPS Status got 8/9 in four seconds, accuracy within 52'. This was sitting in my bedroom, on the ground floor of a house built into a hillside. Not the greatest GPS reception scenario.
Thanks man!
These were done inside my house where I have 3/6 bars ATM... I will post outside results in a bit:

what if you were getting this??
This really helped my GPS...

Before it only worked good after a reboot. Now its ready 99% of the time. The other 1% is fixed by doing TaskManager/Ram/Clear Memory....Without having to reboot. Just putting this out there for others that stumble upon this thread.
Sitting inside of my Apt.
sitting in my apt, tons of radio activity around 10 wifi hotspots and an air force base across the field, no clue what they do over there but the gps is screwy on my gfs evo shift and was never more the
n 20 on my og epic, which had amazing gps that was usually accurate to one meter

In my apartment with tons of stuff running as well. Numbers aren't as good as EC05 on OG Epic but I used navigation 3 times this week 1 hour each direction and it was dead on accurate and even rerouted me because of a traffic accident saving me at least 15 minutes

Signal issue with 1 gnex

Hey there guys since January me and my brother plus other family members switched from AT&T to Verizon , until couple days ago my brother started seeing very low signal on his Galaxy Nexus.
We live in NY , Queens he lives 10 minutes away from me it's different city but it's a 10-15 minute walk.
I will post two screenshot from same application to check tower status and signal strength.
First One is my screenshot

Second one is his
+1 his
Now question is this is def a Verizon problem , how do I get them to help me with this? some sort of Booster or anything : please also note that adress on my bill is assigned to me not him.
Thank you !
Sounds more like an issue with signal in his house or he may be just far enough away from the tower. Have you compared your phone's signal at his house?

I have not actually , but it was just fine since January he even had 1 4G bar , so in case that it's Verizon's fault how can I make them give us a signal extender any ideas?
Umm ask the big man upstairs for a miracle? I've never had any luck getting VZW to admit fault with anything...
Hey guys I have an interesting update , it seems there might be some sort of signal jammer inside his house he has no idea what it could be , as soon as he walks out of his house to his yard he gets perfect signal -> once he goes inside the house almost dead zone.
Question is now , how to look for signal jammers?

[Q] Constantly losing network connection

Let me preface this by saying this phone was damaged. I had to replace the digitizer.
I just started using this, and flashed Pacman's latest nightly on the phone before getting my SIM, so I can't confirm or deny whether or not this works on stock. That would open up another question entirely.
My phone is completely losing all connection to the AT&T network almost anywhere indoors, and in a lot of places outdoors. I do however get complete, fully functioning connectivity in some locations.
For example I picked up my SIM from the AT&T store today, had no connection inside the store. Went outside and immediately got LTE connectivity, placed a call. After driving across the street to eat the connection completely dropped again. It returned as I got close to my job's office, stayed at full strength and then dropped off again once I went inside the building.
It did not return at any point while I was inside the building. After leaving it regained its full strength and remained at full strength, including through a speedtest, until I came inside my apartment. It has not come back since, including when I went out into the parking lot, where it previously had a strong connection.
This makes no sense to me whatsoever.
Went back to stock, so disregard the earlier part of my post about not knowing the best way to do that. I'm on raw 4.1.1 now. Still have the same issue. This is the phone status page.

No, I reverted all the way back to the original shipped build, 4.1.1.
I was using the latest baseband though when I had AOSP on there. Both did same thing.
A few observations since my first two posts. The signal strength does change of course.
Going near windows in my apartment makes the DBM go into the -90s and the asu go anywhere from 2 to 8. If the asu goes above 10 I get 3G and brief connectivity. Yet to see what the signal strength is on full LTE.
Anywhere in my apartment with no connectivity though is between -110 and -115 dbm, all with 0 asu.

What's the deal with the OP3s generally poor reception? 4G LTE, WiFi, GPS etc.

I notice that OP3 generally performs poorer when it comes to reception when compared against my family's other devices the OnePlus One and LG G Flex 2. They are all on the same T-Mobile family plan, and the use the same home WiFi, but the OP3 is clearly the weakest of the bunch. 4G LTE and WiFi download speeds are generally a little lower compared to the other two phones, on today's test 4G LTE upload speeds were drastically worse.
A simple side by side GPS test also showed poorer performance.
Is this typical of metal phones in general, or is something clearly at fault with the OP3?
I haven't had any real show stopping issues that would make me want to return the phone, but I've been putting this phone through its paces with Pokémon Go, and it's been a pretty annoying experience thus far..
Edit: Below is a comparison of the LG G Flex 2 and OnePlus 3 using the GPS Test app. 13/20 satellites is usually as high as I've seen the OP3 go with any consistency, it's usually lower than that, whereas the LG G Flex 2 easily picks up almost all of the satellites in view. Feel free to share your own screenshots!!

I have found the same issue and am looking for a fix. I love this phone but it definitely has issues maintaining solid reception. Have you had any luck?
I have a feeling that OP has not boosted the antenna strength in order to get more battery power. I noticed that often that during sleep that if the phone receives SMS, it's delayed by 8mins with OP3. With other phones, I get the text in under 1-2 mins if the device is sleep. I have not lost signal with any other phones but with the OP3 I have lost signal multiple times while in the middle of talking (GSM) with others.
I don't think it's only metal phones, I've had Nexus 6P and it's signal quality is good. It's in the software so I hope they can fix it in a later release. This phone is only good when it's screen on and not walking around where signal can be weak.
hey everyone,.. who have issues with the signal quality
do you have issues on custom roms as well? Just checking... pls let me know! Thanks!
