I'm in the US and most of the US tablets have the cellphone functions disabled. I'm on AT&T Currently with a Huawei Mediapad X1 (LTE doesn't work, but HSPA+ seems decent enough)
It seems that if I get an international version the phone stuff is enabled, but then LTE probably won't work in the US?
Just looking for some direction as I'm only planning on buying the Tab S 8.4 if I can use it as my phone as well, I have no need to carry 2 devices.
I'm also finding it hard to tell which versions have the Snapdragon CPU. From what I can tell the CPU performance between Exynos and Snapdragon seems about the same, but the GPU performance of the Snapdragon seems much better. I do play a fair amount of games.

I am not great on the version numbers but T705 is the standard exynos 4G version.
I would say go for one where you can get a firmware for the UK or somewhere else.
My T805 (10.5" exynos 4G) has all the phone functions.

Is your T805 a US model?
So if I pickup a US LTE version can I just root it and add back the dialer app to make it work as a phone? Or do they lock out the phone functions some other way in the US?
Mine is a UK T805, but if it is actually that model, so a T705. It will be Exynos 4G. You got a few websites you are looking on that I can look at the models for you?

If I get an international one from Amazon

That should work fine as a phone and the LTE ones should be snapdragon 800 equipped.
The issue is these international ones won't work with LTE bands in the US
So that's why i'm wondering if I get a US one (LTE bands will work in the US of course) can I somehow get the software on it to be able to use as a phone (As the US disables phone capability somehow)
My current phone is a Chinese LTE phone, the LTE does not work in the US, but I do get HSPA+ which is decent enough, It would just be nice to have US LTE and Phone working...

I'm on AT&T, I already know the international LTE phones won't work on the AT&T LTE Bands. I'll just have to live with HSPA+
So you would be getting a T707A if you got the AT&T specific one. or a T705 for the international.
There are no T707A custom ROMs, only for rooting. I guess it will not have phone software Regardless of the version of software on samfirmware.
T705 will do 3G nicely, where I live I get HSPA+ and its quick - only get 4G in town.

Pretty much what I figured, I will just get the T705 international one and just live with HSPA+
From what I can tell all the T705 are snapdragon 800's, That Amazon link doesn't say what CPU it has. I'm pretty sure i'd rather have the snapdragon over the Exynos as the GPU appears to be way faster.
I think you will find the T705 is an exynos. Dont be fooled as with the intel modem they put exynos in their 4G versions.

Hmmm, Exynos CPU seems fast enough, its the GPU I keep hearing is severely lacking with such a high resolution.....
I haven't had issues myself - I have found it fast. Especially if you disable any crap that comes with it you don't need.

I would like to know if all the N900T are LTE enabled or if there is a 3G only model and a LTE model, and if there is how to differentiate them.
I'm looking to buy a N900T in ebay but only a couple listing actually mention LTE capabilities, while a lot of the listings mention 3G capabilities, so I'm a bit confused here.
I can't find any info on different versions of the N900T, and all the info I've found points to all N900T being one model with LTE capabilities. is this correct?

the N900T is the Tmobile Variant, but yes all Note 3's are LTE Capable

Yes I'm aware that the N900T is the t-mo version, and that is the one I am interested in as I'm looking for bands 4 & 7 for use in Mexico with Movistar (B7); and Telcel (B4).
So if I read your response correctly ALL note 3 have support for LTE, Bands depending on specific model?

For Telcel - you would be better getting the N900w8 Canadian/Mexican version -- This version also has the ability to root without tripping KNOX and upgrade/downgrade to/from 4.4.2/4.3 - Which is nice -- Check out @polish_pat's guide over on the international Note 3 forum if you decide to opt for this model :good:
EDIT: Side note, not ALL note's support LTE - N900 Exynos do not support LTE as they have a different CPU.

Thanks for the suggestion, but besides the point that N900W are much harder to find, my main carrier is Movistar, Telcel is my "backup" mainly for my mifi liberate hotspot. I also travel frequently to the usa so I have a prepaid T Mobile SIM I also use, so for my scenario I think the N900T is the best option.

Some countries don't use it I guess - Samsung introduced the Exynos on the S4 I think, and done a Qualcomm model also which we know as Snapdragon 800 with LTE

I use my T-Mo unlocked Note 3 in Mexico on both T-Mobile and Telcel with no issues. I get LTE speeds with Telcel. I wasn't aware Movistar had LTE yet, but I only use them if I need a throwaway phone, which given my lack of illegal activity is never.
edit - I'll post a video on Youtube later of my Note 3 on Telcel's LTE using speedtest.net

The SM-N900T Note 3 supports bands 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), and 8(900)
The B series LTE bands supported are B4 (1700/2100) and B17 (700)
It doesn't look like there is much of anything you can do since the SM-N900T doesn't support the LTE bands that are used in Asia.
Hey all, I've decided to get a Tab s 10.5 however cant decide which CPU to go for, im not interested in LTE but it seems its the LTE version that has the snapdragon CPU. I live in the UK and on Samsungs official online store they sell both the WiFi version and LTE version with the Exynos CPU. However Carphone Warehouse are selling the LTE version with a "2.3ghz Processor" but it doesnt say Snapdragon although i assume it is. Its an extra £80 so is it worth it if i dont really need the 4G

I think all Euro/Asian version are with Exynos, both LTE and WiFi only. So far I have not heard of anyone having the Snapdragon variant, my guess is that it may be limited only to some US operator variants or such.

You will only need the lte version if you plan to use a sim card inside the tablet. If you are tethering to your phone then you will only need the wifi model.

As far as I know, Wifi only model does not come with ear speaker. I use it a lot as a phone, VoIP, replaced my phone at home, with Skype etc. Works great!
After doing a bit of research about it myself, recently. I have just found sellers with incorrect info about what they have for sale. All of them so far have the Exynos.
It is kind of funny though, the Samsung spec page has them listed as Exynos.

Yes confusing.
Supposedly only the Verizon LTE version uses the Snapdragon. Probably due to the modem integration.
I would normally open a new thread, however this post comes up on top in a Google search about the OP's original question which was never answered. Since this question was never really intended to be about whether the warehouse were really selling what they said they were or not. But instead about whether the Qualcomm CPU was worth the Exynos CPU on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S. The question is being asked again.

Even if you get the SD version, it will have LTE bands that don't work in your country - You're screwed.

If you bought LTE version, it will be snapdragon 100%. Exynos doesnt have LTE support.
Snapdragons is exclusive to u.s carriers

wrong, here in Sweden both WiFi and LTE uses Exynos 5420, with LTE support thanks to the Intel LTE chip.

From what I've read the CDMA US carriers (vzw + Sprint) have snapdragons, the others have exynos.

Of course, the reason to get Exynos is for the unlocked bootloader.
Supposedly Exynos won't support any CDMA bands, so you'll only have service under LTE. However, looking at the 4G map for Verizon it's a solid color, so shouldn't this mean you shouldn't really have any loss of reception since you can just stay using LTE always?
How about internet speeds? Would there be any difference?
Are there any other practical differences?
