[Q] Unlocked Galaxy Ace 2 + new ROM = lost unlock? - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. I received my very first Android phone a couple of days ago, a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2. I did some research on the Android OS (my phone came with Gingerbread) and I found out about Cyanogenmod. So today, I installed C11 (found it right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2568105) after a lot of sweat and blood... And I got it to run nicely, but I noticed I can't get my network to work. The phone was previously unlocked (I bought it used), and when I first tried my SIM on it, it worked.
When I first had to install CWM in order to be able to install the ROM, I succeeded in rooting it, and I noticed that the phone was still rooted after flashing it (though I don't know if that came along with C11). But anyway, I can't get my network to work; I removed the battery and the SIM a couple of times, but it didn't work. Now I don't know what to do. Could anyone please give me a hand on this? I know nothing about Android. Thanks in advance.

CM11 requires JB (4.1.2) - Sound like you flashed CM11 onto GB (2.3.6)
This can't work.

The thing is that I was trying to install an AOSP ROM (found in these forums as well) before trying with C11, and I wiped the data, formatted the system... So the phone was left without an OS. I didn't just "update" the OS, if you know what I mean. And C11 is working fine except for the mobile network.
EDIT: If I install a clean JB 4.1.2. and then restore to my current CM11, do you think that could solve the network issue?

Again: You need JB! With JB there are also other partitions which are needed to be new (on JB)
And Yes - Data restoring could work - But not recommended.... I would do an clean new install...
Please do not start an discussion... again: You needed JB.. (just to be sure)

Uhm, I never intended to start a discussion, I was trying to explain what I did. Thank you for replying anyway. I'll let you know if I get the network to work.

Sorry - I don't what to sound outrageous... But those questions were asked to many times... Here on XDA ACE 2 section...

[Q] SlimBean 4.3 Help

First if this in the wrong please move. I figured this would be decent spot to post.
Okay so I have the SPH-l710 S3. I was runing 4.1.2 and decided to root my phone. Succesfuly did so. Now about a week after this I found out about the OTA 4.3 update. I had no option to install and learned that I had to be Untrooted to recieve the update. Could not find a stock rom and decided to give up since i am new to this and was unsure if may brick my phone.
I discovered SLim 4.3. I found a build 2 rom wich ran 4.3. This rom can be found at slimroms.net. SO I download it move to phone and reboot in recovery. Backed my stuff and factory reset my phone,. After doing so my phone was stuck on boot. The factory rest not only removed everything including apps and formatting the sd. COuldnt figure out why untill i went back to recovery and found my phone wiped everything. And I mean everything. I removed my sd card ,inserted it in my computer and moved the new rom over. Rebooted again and flashed the rom. My phone booted and was set up. I come to find that interface after this was changed from the stock s3 interface. Looks more like nexus or something. Is this Suppose to happen and why?
The big isuue and question is that my phone is randomly rebooting. I have extremely poor service( I have tried multiple modems And currently using a MK3 modem .not to mentiuon no original app sthat I had once before such as the stock Music app. So as far at that is concered is ther way to restore my phone back to the day I bought it? Or A rom of some sort to fix the uissue. Maybe a patch? Maybe a better 4.3 rom to try. By all means I love my new interface and what I can do to customize it. But these bugs among several other minor issues is bothing me.
Here ar my phone stats as of now:
Android 4.3.1
Baseband: L710VPUVMK3
Kernell: 3.4.66 Cyanogen mod-gcc086c4
Cpu: ARMv7 Proccessor 4(v7)
SLim Version: 4.3 build 2
Build number SLim_d2spr-userbug Jls361 1347 test keys

[Q] Stock ROM over Stock flashing issue

Good day,
I'm wondering if anyone has gone through this; it goes like this, last night I flashed my n7100 Note 2 with a stock rom 4.1.2 XEF (France)(the same exact rom I used to flash my phone with for 10ths of times) nothing went wrong as Odin completed the processes successfully (apparently) rebooting the phone to finalize the installation, however it booted into the previously installed system, including all of the apps I installed earlier, in other words nothing's changed at all, I hope I'm making sense, I tried two different computers ending with the same result, how come it worked like charm before and now it does not? Thanks again for any advice.

[Q] Need to downgrade, how?

Greetings, I wonder if somebody can solve the following problem. I'm from Venezuela and I bought this model GT-I9192 in December 2013 when the update came out this year it was updated from 4.2.2 (JellyBean) to 4.4.2 (KitKat). I almost never use the camera of this phone and then I noticed that every time I opened the camera app I would get "Warning: Camera Failed". Thinking it was the update I proceeded to install the Cyanogenmod rom 11 for this model, but continued with the same problem. The flash works every time I turn the flashlight application. I took it to a technician telling me that the problem was not hardware but software. This is where my troubles began. I do not remember which firmware was installed. I tried to install several firmwares 4.2.2. but without success all with flashing failures. However, I could install version 4.4.2 of Trinidad and Tobago but with the same camera error. Hopefully someone can help me with this problem. I would like to know exactly what firmware should download to install? Thank you very much.

I registered here just to answer your question.
My Android expertise is very limited but I try to learn from past experience. If I understand correctly, your want:
1. the camera should work.
2. the phone should function properly.
If you do not remember your original firmware, do not worry as it does not matter. Once your upgraded to KK, Knox (google it) kicked in to prevent you from downgrading to JB. That's why all flashing efforts to downgrade failed. So, you can keep your phone with KK if the phone works except camera. In case you want to downgrade to JB, I am sure that able XDA members can help you with that. I am unaware if such methods exist.
Now, to see if the camera works there are several methods. I encountered the same problem with my wives i727 Skyrocket which has JB 4.1.2 installed. One day the camera suddenly failed with the error "Warning: Camera Failed". The flash-light worked flawlessly so I was a bit perplexed. I researched and found several remedies:
1. From application manager, clear cache/data of the camera app and restart phone - Tried this several times, did not work.
2. Perform factory reset- Thought I'd use it as a last resort as the phone had gigs of data in it.
3. Uninstall apps (last installed app uninstalled first and so on) - I uninstalled the last installed app and restarted the phone. Voila! The camera was back. I have no explanations why but it just worked.
Let us know how it goes, good luck!
On the i9195, it is possible and easy to downgrade to JB since there's a 4.2.2 firmware which is similar to the 4.4.2 firmwares, but I don't know about the i9192.
Be careful with this;
If you know what you are doing, get the CWM recovery, format system/data and flash a 4.4.2 firmware again. If that didn't fix it, I suspect that it's a hardware problem and it's having problems with the software, but there should be something wrong with the hardware, for sure.
Good Luck.

Tried that too and nothing. I also suspect that the problem is a hardware issue. Thank you for the reply.

The problem, in fact is a fault in the hardware problem. If it's still under warranty, request a new phone.

Does this weekly fix the inverted Tilting ? temple run does and other apps that require accurate tilting do not work correctly doodle jump is affected to. I don't think a bug report should be done since it is so easy to test and it was a clean flash from the first 8.0?

Sorry but you need a custom recovery. Personally I suggest TWRP. You need to read these two threads carefully in order to correctly do things:
-[INFO] [FAQ] Galaxy S3 w/ LTE - SGH-T999L & SGH-T999N (covering general questions)
- [Firmware/OTA's] [root66] SGH-T999(All Variants!) Official & Root66 FW & OTA Updates! (this one will explain how to use ODIN for flashing custom recoveries and firmwares)
Any news on when a stable 8.0 will be released?
I am having issues getting the downloaded zip to work. When I go to flash it, it says It "cant open (bad)". Ive tried downloading the rom to my computer and then moving it to the SDcard, via an adapter. Ive tried re-downloading it & emailing it. Ive also tried downloading it via my phone's browser, but it still wont work. Does anyone have any other ideas so to how I can download this without it getting corrupt? Thanks. I have been trying to download Version 7 of the rom, and it seems no matter how I try to get it on my phone I always get "Cant open (bad)" when I go to flash it.
Im having trouble getting any pictures taken with the stock camera to stay on my external SD Card, regardless of what SD Card I put in. Ill take a picture, but once the phone reboots, its gone from my SD Card. I even checked before and after rebooting in Root Explorer. Its there, but then the whole "Camera" folder in DCIM is gone after rebooting the phone. Any suggestions as to how I can get my pictures to stay on my SD Card so I dont fill my internal memory with photos? Running version 7.
NoRingtone get reset when reboot or shutdown. Becomes unknown ringtone. There's something that has to deal with the SD card as far as I know. Because the sounds are on SD card and when I use factory sounds it stays selected when rebooted/shutdown.

Try to reformat your sdcard. But save what you want BEFORE you format.

you have to let your phone reformat it. Go to setting-storage-unmount SD card-formatt.
boot loop issue
EDIT: Resolved the issue. Pretty sure its unrelated to the rom. Experienced a faulty power button that causes the phone to continuously reboot last year. Thought it went away since i used the power button fine past couple of months, but guess its resurfaced. Jiggling the power button and using an app to power off the phone helps band-aid the issue.
I flashed slimkat 7.0 and gapps about 2 weeks ago following the instructions on the slimroms website using CWM. It's been working great until today where its fallen into a sort of boot loop. I didn't do any major changes to the phone in the past few days so not sure what prompted this since it was working perfectly before. But now every 2 min, it would reboot without warning. During those 2 min, the phone works fine. Please let me know if there is anything I can or should do.
Thanks!
Possible fix for SlimKat Camera Issues
I had the same camera issues that people mentioned in the SlimKat build thread, where all of my camera apps were crashing upon opening, but my camcorder was fine. I tracked it down to have a corrupt image file in my images directory, which I was able to delete using the gallery app. Hopefully this helps someone.
Bluetooth in car doesn't work for Skype, Viber, Hangout Calls
Hi experts!!
I've flashed SlimKat d2lte build 7.0 5979 on my Galaxy S3 (T-Mo) T999 and everything just works great. EXCEPT for these 2 issues:
1. Bluetooth in car doesn't work for Skype, Viber, Google Hangouts Calls Normals phone calls over the network connect perfectly fine.
2. When placing calls over Skype, Viber or Hangouts, the phone makes just 1 ring (albeit showing "ringing" on the screen) but the call connects just fine and I can hear the other person then (ie. the call is placed successfully). The other person confirmed that the call keeps ringing Skype/Viber/Hangouts continuously until answered just normally. But I hear just one outgoing ring and then silence!
I hope I've not messed up some settings somewhere. Pls help!
Cleaned flashed 9.0
I cleaned flashed 9.0 per the installation instructions and now there is no SIM toolkit and Offline APN Database Pro says there is no sim card detected. Is there a way to install the SIM toolkit?
sgh-t999 no SIM PIN unlock and no service with official 9
I originally had SIM lock PIN enabled and working in official 6 and 7. Weekly 8.20 and official 9 do not attempt to unlock. The SIM Card Lock option does not even show up between Encrypt phone and Passwords in the Security screen.
I disabled the SIM Card Lock using a different phone and now official 9 says "no service". bugreport.zip is from this point with unlocked SIM, but no service.
#slimusers told me to post bugreport.zip in official 9 thread. When I attempted to reply to the official 9 thread, I got redirected to this Stable 7.0 thread.

Upgrading from SlimKat Stable 8.0 to Stable 9.0 without losing data, apps & settings
Hi experts,
I just saw that SlimROM posted SlimKat Stable 9.0 release. I am running version 8.0 and would like to upgrade to 9.0 but without losing my data, apps, settings, etc. How do I do that? I do have Ti Bkup Pro but have never really used it to upgrade ROMS.
+1 on the last post. I have installed slimkat 4.4.4 build 7 official since August, and have not had any issue whatsoever and love how it runs. Is it necessary to update? Or if it isn't broken, don't fix it?

SlimKat 9.0 Apn settings
Hi, why is it i can't add an Apn setting on my network provider. Each time I add an apn and save it after, it doesn't save. Is this a bug issue? Please help with this issue.. Anyone having similar problems?
T-999 non lte version
I've had issues with other ROMs on my T999 version and CM 11 had a stable build but, I just recently updated (apparently to lte version) because the volume on the headset was really low. I like what SlimKat has to offer but, I need to know if I will run into the same issues without having lte.
not able to make calls
I read a lot about this ROM and wanted to try. Flashing went fine, but I am having basic issue with phone calls.
Before this ROM, I tried LP roms and other 4.3 roms. They were all fine.
Steps done are ODIN flash of root66+Modem, then flashed TWRP, flashed ROM+Gapps.

[Q] SM-T210 no GPS after OTA update to 4.4.2

Reposted in the correct forum
Afternoon everyone, I was hoping someone could assist with this problem, I have a Galaxy Tab 3 7" wifi only, I was running everything as stock inc 4.1.2 firmware, then I was prompted for an upgrade to 4.4.2, I stupidly did this without reading up ! I use to run the Tomtom software on my tab, used it everyday for work, now since the upgrade the tab will not find a GPS signal, no matter how long I leave it, after a few hours of reading and trying different things, cache cleared, reinstalled the app, restore to stock twice (still on 4.4.2) Im at a loss. I have read once its upto 4.4.2 it cannot go back to 4.1.2 as the boot loader is locked ? I am currently downloading a clean instal from Samobile of 4.4.2 to see if that will fix it, installed via Odin 3.10.6.
If anyone has cured a similar problem or can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful
Thanks
John
sort of fixed
Couldn't seem able to find a fix for this problem I had a dabble with my Tablet, installed TWRP, backed up the 4.4.2 stock ROM, found and installed the ROM by Jon Wesley Tranchida - uber cool ROM btw - fantastic boot logo's :good: but alas, the Tablet would still not run the GPS with Tomtom. So I took a risk and found a Stock 4.1.2 ROM from here http://stockroms.webs.com/downloads deleted everything and started again, Installed the 4.1.2 Ultimate ROM, installed Tomtom again and YES, everything works okay :highfive: I really miss all the addons though that were included in the ROM by Jon Wesley Tranchida. I still don't understand why Tomtom won't see GPS or the tablet wont access the GPS on 4.4.2, after 10 hours of reading up.. Although I did read it could be some thing to do with the baseband ? its beyond me lol
