[Q] Xbox 360 controller not supported? - General Accessories

I recently bought myself a cheapie tablet - Lenovo a3500, the only reason being, to watch movies, read some comics, and game on the go a little. Imagine my surprise, when everything works just fine, but my xbox 360 controller doesn't work. I plug in the OTG cable, plug in my controller, and all that happens, is the light flashes on my controller. What could be the problem? Every other USB device works just fine, even an old, cheap PS2 knock-off controller works, but not the xbox 360 one.
Tablet's specs:
CPU:Quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7
GPU:Mali-400MP2
Android version: 4.4.2 KitKat
Any help with this problem will be appreciated!

I use an xbox 360 controller with my pc, and I know when you plug it in for the first time, it needs to find and download the drivers for it to work, which means the 360 controller doesn't just work out of the box; it needs special drivers which I'm sure android doesn't have. There may be some apks out there that would allow it to run on android, but that may require the tablet to be rooted.

The controller isn't straight out of the box, I've actually used it quite a bit on my PC. After digging around the Internet a bit I found out, that the Xbox keylayout file may be missing from my tablet, but that's all I got.
The only reason I haven't rooted my device, is that out of the three times I've tried rooting only one time has been successful, and I really don't want to send my brand new tablet to get repaired. I tried the towelroot method today, but sadly that didn't work.

anyone try usb controllers?

Hey, did anyone here use USB controllers through an otg cable? If so did it work with emulators?
I'm going to buy a USB nes controller for nesoid and find out but I would be happier knowing that people here have been able to do things like this. I use my Bluetooth keyboard just fine so I hope it is as easy as that.
I have read about people having success with usb controllers. I know I do.
I tried a Logitech USB controller connected to a hub. It worked flawlesslyand i was able to map all the keys.
That is good to hear. Since I can HDMI out my xoom to my TV I can get the true experience practically without trying to buy another nes.
On a side note: why is everybody using USB hubs? Ever since USB hosting I have noticed it is a common thing lying around the house. Maybe one day when I have more USB peripherals I will understand but right now everything is Bluetooth.
I've tested two controllers so far, a PS3 one, and a PS2 controller connected via a USB adapter.
The PS3 worked perfectly except for in N64oid, I could map all the buttons, but for some reason the d-pad and analog sticks don't work to move Mario around in Mario 64 (the only game I've tested). It worked great in FPse, SNESoid, etc, etc.
The PS2 controller connected to a USB adapter would work to move the screen around, but when I tried to map any keys in apps they would just show as "unknown"
My Super Dual Box Pro doesn't seem to work right with the -oid series of emulators. Analog up/down/left/right works ok in the emulator menus, but none of the buttons do anything in the game, even after mapping. All of the buttons say "unknown".

I use a hub because I keep all my ROMs on it. I plug in my controller and thumbdrive. I believe that you can also plug in an additional controller for multiplayer games line Mario Kart.

Bluetooth controller

Hey,
I'm looking for a Bluetooth/Wireless controller to play and emulate games on my 10.1v.
What's the best solution for now ? PS3, Wii, other ?
I want to be able to play without a wire and with a tool that is frequently updated (for better support). If it's not the right time (maybe some controllers have been announced), I'll wait as well...
Thanks !
I hear good things about phonejoy (http://www.phonejoy.net/product-description.html), however I haven't taken the plunge yet. Seems kind of expensive (after shipping) just for a bluetooth controller.
I did install the xbox usb module a while back and plugged in my xbox controller and that worked pretty good. My only gripe is having to plug in the usb adapter and the huge cord. So I am in the same boat as you. Still looking for the perfect bluetooth controller.
I've got XBOX controller but as you say...the wire is killing it for me. That plus that we have to buy that crappy USB adapator. Don't even know how does the Tab still stand when that port is connected.
What about the wii controller ? Any feedback ?
I use a PS3 wireless controller, works pretty well. You will have to "enable" the driver manually to connect the controller then you can launch your favorite emulator. You can find the driver from mkt place, but you also need to install the software on your PC to re-write the bluetooth mac address. all the buttons, joystick, directional pads, can be assigned to whatever key u want...
google "motioninjoy" for more info on the driver (sorry system wont let me post outside links...)
Thanks.
How would you describe it in terms of responsiveness/ease of use/app support ?
After some more digging, I think this solution works best :
http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/09/sixaxis-controller-android-app-makes-firing-off-hadoukens-easy-a/
There are a couple of vids on youtube demonstrating it, but it will basically take a dualshock bluetooth playstation controller ($20) and work wirelessly.
I haven't tested it out since I don't own the controller. I was about to buy one, when I realized that I spend most of my time playing tower or racing games designed for the tablet, which would not make use of a gamepad.
Thanks a lot. I'd be interested to know where you can get a $20 one too...
I've been using Sixaxis for a while now. It works great with no noticeable lag. I mostly use it for all the emulators. Fortunately I already had a PS3 so I didn't have to buy a new controller.

[XOOM 2] Xoom 2 ME - Joypad support?

Since Honeycomb provides support for various game controllers, I thought I'd give my Xbox 360 controllers a try. Neither the wired or wireless (via MS USB/wireless adapter) devices are recognised by my Xoom 2 ME.
I am using a USB OTG cable that works perfectly with a flash drive and a mouse.
Logcat shows no entries at all when the Xbox controllers are plugged in, which perhaps suggests that the stock firmware doesn't support them.
Has anyone else been able to get USB joypads or other game controllers to work with the Xoom 2 natively? I'm avoiding IME hacks and suchlike as I would like something that will work with the new controller APIs.
I know there's only about three people in the world (other than me) who actually bought the Xoom 2 ME, but surely one of you has a joypad you can test out?
I spotted a cheap-ish controller (£17) when out shopping and decided to give it a try.
I got the Power-A Air-Flo PS3 controller, which actually has an overall layout similar to an Xbox 360 controller (which is what I'm used to).
This was recognised by the X2ME straight away and I was able to have a quick game of Cordy with it. As a bonus, and since it's a standard HID controller, it works on my Ubuntu laptop as well.
So perhaps the X2ME is a bit fussier about its controllers than some other tablets, or perhaps there's additional tweaking needed to get the Xbox controllers working.
My ultimate aim is to be able to plug this tablet into a TV in a hotel room via HDMI and use it as a portable games console. Currently I'm having trouble with the Micro-HDMI to HDMI connection and I'm not sure if it's a problem with the cable, the socket on the X2ME, or some software issue. So far I have been able to get a picture to appear on the TV only intermittently and haven't yet had both the game controller and the HDMI output working at the same time.
Edit: Have just managed to get the HDMI out running for long enough to test with the controller and it worked really well. Once I have figured out the reason for the intermittent HDMI output, it'll be time to find games available for the X2ME that support an external controller
I realise I'm pretty much just talking to myself on this thread, so here's a picture to liven things up ;-)

i just tried two usb controllers
logitect rumblePad 2(normal pc game controller) that's works perfectly and a logitect chillstream (windows recognize it as an xbox360 controller) that's is not working (although powerup and tablet recognized it )
Thanks for the info. It is starting to look like there may be an issue recognising Xbox-type controllers, though it's based on a rather small sample at this stage

Very cool. Thanks for the info! I may try and get my Classic Controller + WiiMote to do the same thing via Bluetooth, which I've done before on my old G2.

[QUESTION] Desktop Phone?

Hi Everybody!
I've been looking on forum for a thread similar but i couln't find one, so i'll try to explain what i'm trying to do with my phone and let's see if someone already got it.
Well, since i got the SGS3 on my hands for the fist time, i could feel how much hardware it does have and thinking about how much it's portable and easy to take, so i start to thinking if is posible to make some kind of "DeskDock" with some accesories.
I have a Logitech Unifying keyboard and a mouse wich means that with only one dongle i can connect both devices to it. Last week i brought a OTG cable and i tryed to connect it on my phone and it worked almost perfectly (some issues with keyboard layout, but nothing else), i got impressed that all functions keys from my keyboard was working.
Ok, got this point i was thinking how could i connect my OTG cable and also a MHL cable, so i can have HDMI-OUT and my keyboard and mouse working.
If this work i can have a totally functional desktop with 24 inches screen. I know that maybe people wont see any sense making it, but in my case i don't have a Netbook (i don't even like) and if i could get this working, i was thinking about run linux on my phone and get a full desktop experience.
Is anybody there who tried it?
I was thinking about some kind of USB HUB, but i have no idea if my phone would support it...

just look on this subforum for MHL and OTG.
Why not just by an "android PC" or the android TV box. It is basically a powerful tablet computer in a 3 inch square box with HDMI, two or three usb ports, wireless wifi and and SD card port. Cost less than $75 or you can spend more and even get a dual core . I have one on both of my big screen tv's with a wireless mouse (but for pc application you just use a combo keyboard mouse. Much easier and much more simple.

For most of us, it is the ability to take our "PC" with us, as a working tablet. For others, it is that when we get home, we want to just plug in our phone, and have larger everything.. but still use all the apps, and bookmarks etc that are the on the phone. For the rest.. it is about the cool factor.

[Q] Is it possible to get Xbox Controller working on Tab Pro 10.1

Hey guys just wondering if anyone has had success in using an Xbox 360 pad with Tab Pro 10.1? I have a wired an official wired Xbox controller and a USB OTG cable. The tablet picks up the OTG cable fine and picks up things like USB sticks no problem however it just will not work with the Xbox pad, doesn't give a message etc, the lights are on for the pad so there is power but nothing works. I have tried this with latest stock ROM (unrooted etc) and it did nothing, I have also tried this with the latest CM12 nightly and still nothing. I know the OTG cable is fine as the Xbox pad works perfectly through my Oneplus One first time no issues.
Any help is appreciated thanks.

I think you need a custom kernel that can do this. Though I'm not sure and if there is any for your device
UP UP UP
Please I have the same issue!
Someone already use xbox controller with his Galaxy Tab pro 10.1 or 12.2 because it's the same hardware?
UPUPUP

same here
I don't know why I bought the Tab Pro, it has been a very mediocre tablet, I actually swore off all Samsung tablets after owning the absolute horrid Tab 3 but I got a really god deal on the Tab Pro, just 200.. Anyway I recently bought a Nvidia Shield 32GB, LTE to replace the Tab Pro as my main tablet. Anyway the Shield has turned out to be just an incredible tablet, blows the Tab Pro away in every conceivable way, especially in speed and stability. Anyway I thought I would use the Tab Pro as a TV/gaming set box, well it couldn't even do that well, their's black bars on either side of the TV when connected via HDMI or Miracast, my Xbox controller doesn't work and I can't have both the HDMI plugged in and Xbox controller at the same time, so gaming on the TV is out of the question unless I get a Bluetooth controller. The Shield of course has an HDMI out, which will be a must have feature for any new tablet I buy going further as I hate dongles. That and it must have a Tegra chip, holy crap is the K1 fast, I will defiantly be buying the next iteration with the X1 and of course the new Shield TV set box.
Anyway I tried everything I could think of to get the Xbox controller to work in both the Touchwiz and Cyanogenmod 12 ROM. Even copied over the Xbox km file to /system/usr/ nothing. This is really driving me crazy.
What's up with these developer people man? Are they American or something? I mean, can't we all just get along???!?
I didn't just offend most people on here did I?
What I REALLY mean is.. Why does a Playstation controller work with samsung tablets but not an XBOX controller?
It is possible to connect an android device with 360 controller, there is plenty of videos in YouTube.

Yea but most of them are as follows:
Hi this is my youtube video. And I'm going to show you how to connect your xbox 360 controller to your android device using an otg cable?
So first you need to buy an otg cable in order to hook your 360 controller using an otg cable? like ok? Know where I'm coming from?
so like, get your android device and hold it in your hand. I like to hold mine in my right hand, but you can hold it in any hand. You might be left handed, or maybe you're right handed but you still wanna hold it with your left hand? Maybe you're one of those omni people who can use both hands....
Long story short, they say "Plug this cable into that cable and then that cable into your device and it SHOULD work".
It doesn't work bro.
