If I have downloaded maps can it get location without internet.

Trying to get offline GPS working with Poly Eclair, but so far it won't direct me unless I have an active internet connection. Tried using MapDroyd, but Nav still insists that I have a connection. Downloaded all the maps in my area as well.

I live in Middle East.i prefer english maps.
Should i download country specific maps for the gps to work? because my gmaps is showing me the location only when i am using wifi if i am away from wifi networks i try the gps it shows the location with a blue arrow but a blank map not sure what to do.
If i have to download maps of each country kindly guide me with the link.
If you are using Google maps you need a working data connection as Gogle maps downloads the "tiles" automatically according to your locations. With google maps you cannot pre-download the country map but you need to have the data connection on (3G or Wifi) so that the app keeps updating the map tiles for your location.
Other navigation applications like Ndrive, Wisepilot, .. require that you download/purchase the country specific map and it is stored on the phone memory, with these type of applications you do not need a data connection to use the GPS navigation.

I plan to use the Galaxy Nexus as a music player. I will not activate it with a phone company. Therefore I will not have any voice or data connection. Also, I won't always have a wifi connection.
I would like to know if the GPS will be working under these conditions.
Definition of working : will give me a coordinate of longitude and latitude. Separate programs may require data connection but this is another issue. Might just download offline mays.

I've new LS970(Sprint) flashed to E975 rom. And I have GPS problem: I can't see any sattelites and NMEA stream, tried several programs. I had same problem with LS970 rom. Should NMEA be active during no GPS signal? Maybe it could be possible to access serial tty where GPS is connected to send it some debug commands? What device in /dev/ is GPS? I don't know if you understand my me
Some time it gets location with accuracy of 20m, but only when connected to wifi internet, but still no sattelites in list.
I am in Europe.

Hello everyone, for the life of me I can't get this one figured out. Find My Device only works properly on my 7t when connected via WiFi. Once WiFi is turned off, no dice. I have location history turned on, find my device turned on, location accuracy at the highest setting, admin rights granted to find my device,WiFi and Bluetooth scanning enabled. My device is visible in the play store, and am checked in under "devices on this account". Find My Device works flawlessly on WiFi, but once turned off and only connected to 4g, I can play sound, see my battery percentage and carrier status, but location only shows maps timeline xxx minutes ago and not a live location. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? Thanks.
