[Q] Which CPU does my Tab S LTE have? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I find out which CPU my Tab S 8.4 LTE has ? I bought my tablet from on online Italian dealer.

They all have Exynos (except some rare US and Chinese models).

Install and run the cpu-z app. It will show you the cpu and lots of other information!

Well, I am more confused now.
I called Samsung and they accessed some internal technical data that I couldn't find online. According to the customer service rep, my LTE device (SM-T705) has a 2.3ghz snapdragon 800ghz quad core for the LTE functions and a 1.9 ghz exynos quad core. The non-LTE (SM-T700) has a 1.9ghz quad core exynos and a 1.3ghz quad core exynos (i.e., exynos 5 octa). So, according to them, my device isn't octacore, but dual (heterogenous) quad core. That's exactly what the rep told me. Hmmmmmm
Here is what cpu-z reports:
1) 4x ARM Cortex [email protected] 1.90ghz
2) 4x ARM Cortex [email protected] 1.90ghz
3) GPU Mali T628
It doesn't explicitly say if the brand of each 4-core CPU. I was unaware and A-7 could run at 1.9, even overclocked.
Here is what the CPU/RAM/DEVICE Identifer app reports:
1) Exynos 5 5420 Octa x4+4 1.9ghz.
According to this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438339), the 5420 is an A-15.
2) 3) GPU Mali T628
My observation here that maybe the device is using an LTE chip separate (not integrated) alongside an exynos octacore. It's possible according to an Australian forum: "Samsung is buying LTE modems from Intel and using them with their own Exynos 5 Octa (5420) SoC, as using in-house silicon reduces manufacturing costs."
To show how confusing this is, here is what I found on Wikipedia, describing sort of vaguely the Tab S 10.1 cpu (no similar description for the 8.4):
"The WiFi model of the tablet is powered by the Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5420 CPUs. The LTE model comes either with a Quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 on top of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset (version for some US carriers) or with the Exynos octa-core CPU (version for some European countries)."
That seems to say the LTE version has snapdragon quad core plus another snapdragon quad core OR an exynos octacore. That would mean they'd have to have turned off the A-7 core. Either way, I thought a snapdragon would not work with the Mali GPU.
In the end, still confused, but I'm leaning toward believing it's all exynos plus that intel LTE modem. As to which cortex cores, I dunno.

They are all exynos apart from ramdom US ones as mentioned before. There is huge confusion online. Its an exynos with two quad cores but no hetrogenous processing.

Thanks for the replies. An all exynos system makes sense. Clearly, one quad core is 1.9ghz. I wonder what the other quad core runs at. The CPU-z type apps are giving conflicting results. And, clearly Samsung customer service has no idea. They think I have an exynos 1.9ghz quad plus a snapdragon 2.3ghz quad.

Wrong thread

It's four ARM Cortex A15 cores at 1.9Ghz and four Arm Cortex A7 cores at 1.3Ghz.
They call it the big.LITTLE concept where the A7 cores are for low power/light tasks and the A15 cores for performance.

Totally 100% correct.

Again, thanks for the help. It will be interesting to see what the Tab S2 will have in it beside a 4:3 form factor and a much lower capacity battery.

Likely the new 7440 exynos. (May have got that model number wrong!)

I guess when it comes out, I'll put my T705 on eBay. Gotta stay current ☺

Christ it comes to something when even Samsung doesn't know what's in there own devices!
This forum doesn't help either by having the wrong specs at the top of the forum page.
The majority of tab s's have the exynos cpus not snapdragon and this should be reflected in the spec details in this forum.
I can see how newcomers get easily confused.

How does the note II CPU compare to the DNA CPU?

Which is the better CPU?
I believe the DNA has a better CPU but the GPU on the Note 2 is slightly better.

The DNA uses Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 CPU at 1.5GHZ. Where the Samsung Exynos 4 (4412) at 1.6ghz. I always thought the Exynos chip was faster then the Snapdragon also refer as crapdragon.

mali 400 gpu the weakest out?

how weak is this gpu, is it overclocked ?
its pretty outdated, regardless what anyone else says to you
it has half the die size of a 544mp4, which is kind of sad ... the mali400 in note 2 is overclocked versus the one in the gs2, and is suppose to be an improved variant from the galaxy s3
it is faster than tegra 3, ill tell you that for sure
something is strange, i wonder if the note 2 gpu is a variant in the way the adreno series like adreno 225 but samsung just doesnt change the numbering maybe, what do you think, if its a variant, there must be changes, no way it can pull figures like it does while being a s2 gpu lol

[Q] Which processor really are in Tab S ? (8.4 and 10.5)

According to the info appearing at Samsung, TAB S tablet has an "octa core processor", there is no reference about type or model. or brand.
Info appering at PDADB is:
SM-T705 , SM-T705C, SM-T705M and SM-T705Y: all have Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5420
SM-T805, SM-T805C, SM-T805Y: all have Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5420
SM-T805K, SM-T805L, SM-T805S: all have Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5433
This forum says about TAB S : Qualcomm Snapdragon 800
I live in Colombia, we have here models T705M and T805M.
A local vendor says both models mount an "Adonis Prime+ XMM7160" processor
Can anybody clarify this mess ? are there really different processors for same model ? if so, are there any performance difference between those processors ?
Thanks,
Update:
It seems "Adonis Prime" is an alias for Exynos 5420.
Yeah, It`s a right mess different cpu for different markets and configurations.
Even the Samsung website for my region only gives the cpu speed and quad or octo core, but not a brand or model number, octo is normally exynos and quad is snapdragon at the moment.
Best to check with the supplier before purchasing if you want a certain model of cpu.
Never heard of the "Adonis Prime+ XMM7160" processor" will have to do a search, EDIT: Intel modem soc ??? see link below.
Some Samsung android tablets use Intel atom cpu, but normally the low priced choices.

Practically you will have a 5420 CPU in all but a couple of ones, the 807 AT&T etc ones. So expect the 5420 almost certainly. Watch out your local vendor has genuine stock, exynos with intel mobile chip is what you will get if genuine.
That quote seems wrong a bit wrong with me.

Thanks for your answers.
From the info I got since yesterday, it seems:
1. Exynos 54xx series is called also "Adonis":
One source (there are several similar): http://tech2yantra.blogspot.com/2014/04/are-you-getting-real-galaxy-s5-latest.html
2. XMM7160 is a modem LTE chip (from Intel):
Source: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us...e-communications/mobile-xmm-7160-1-brief.html
With this info, I guess the vendor is really very precise: Adonis Prime + (plus) XMM7160 are really the chips used by a Galaxy Tab S. (CPU + LTE modem).
It could be a little confusing because the name "Adonis" is not quoted normally (I found several quotes to "Adonis" in S5 in sites from Romania, Russia, India, etc)
What do you think about this "interpretation" ?
They do all these study's on what names and words work in different country's, some words that are fine in the west, might be offensive in some country's as they mean different things.
It certainty is confusing, so stop using words and use number, but not 666, 13, 7777 where does it end.

Galaxy Tab s LTE verion T805 Running Snap dragon or Exynos

Dear Friends, i got an question to ask somebody here .
Well if I'm fool but i really doubt and no clear about this tablet as in the description they said For T800 Wifi device is running Exynos 5 Octa processor, octa-core 1.9GHz processor and quad-core 1.3GHz processor and for LTE devices are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.3GHz quad-core processor.
And I have my galaxy tab S 10.5 LTE version T805 but in fact the processor in my device it Exynos Octa 5420 1.9ghz and quad-core 1.3ghz depend on CPU Z test result it's look actually same Wifi version. so Which LTE version that running snap dragon 2.3ghz ?
Please mind my English but hope someone here help me to explain about this .
P.S I also checked many review about this device but still i didn't get it .
Only a couple of the carrier related versions use the snapdragon cpu, the rest are all Exynos.

I though for all LTE version is running snapdragon CPU 2.3ghz that's why i bought this device .. anyway i like using device that running snapdragon processor because it's cause less battery and good performance for gaming ..

Android car radio with Snapdragon 625

Android 9, 4+64G Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC with eight ARM Cortex-A53 cpu cores 14 nm Car Multimedia Navigation System for BMW 3 5 Series M3 M5 E60 E90 EW963.
Does anyone know this brand and is this the first android car radio brand that uses a Snapdragon 625 cpu?
https://ewaying.com/collections/bmw...navi-support-idrive-steering-wheel-id6-ew963a
Seems like it is indeed the first radio to have a SnapDragon CPU. That's a big positive step for performance with these radios. The SnapDragon CPU's are faster, more powerful and much more responsive than the laggy RockChip ones.
See here: https://www.notebookcheck.net/625-vs-RK3288_8168_6984.247596.0.html
This is the only brand I've seen with it, so hopefully that will pan out to more brands using this chip and hopefully soon we'll get a Universal model that will drop into almost any car setup we have.
