[Q] G sensor calibration - Desire 820 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I own a HTC 820s. I realised that my phone is a lot off in level-ness. There used to be an option in the setting about the g sensor calibration (I owned the first desire) but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone else have a problem with this on their phone?

Setting - display & gesture - g senser caliberation

The desire 820s doesn't have g-sensor calibration in display settings, I'm having the same issue with the sensor with many apps (especially games) in which my phone feels tilted.
If there are other ways to reset the sensor like an app or so, that would be helpful.

OK... I didn't read ur post properly... I m using 820 dual sim & it has g sensor setting

That's weird... but I can't find the setting in my phone, I've updated to the latest update on my phone, and I've searched everywhere in the phone, but no luck...

Bumping:crying:
It's really painful playing racing games with your sensor tilted.
Using bubble level, it shows that my sensor is off towards the phone's bottom by 10°.
searched the phone all over again and still no calibration setting...
Can anyone provide any kind of solution?

Try installing various groups sensor calibrators from Googleplay store

Used GPS apps with sensor calibration, and apps with the calibration like labyrinth, they only work for the app itself, not the phone.
As the attachments show, the phone is still tilted.
heard there was a way changing a certain file, but I can't root my device, but I think there is a way to bypass the restrictions without rooting right?

i have the one woth 1 sim slot and i have sensor calibration lol

i am facing the same problem...is there any solution?

yes i am facing the same problem need solution

FOR HTC DESIRE 820G PLUS DUAL SIM USERS: CALIBRATE USING SETTINGS>LANGUAGE & INPUT>IN DEFAULT CHOOSE " HTC SENSE INPUT" (SUB SETTINGS WITH ICONS ON THE SIDE)>ADVANCED (More input settings)>Calibration tool and then try typing the letters. That's it.

Found the answer

Download mtk engineering mode and you can reset the calibration there. I have a 820s and I've used it to recalibrate

Hello.
well you could try searching for the accelerometer app on marketplace
I cant say its needed, because e its the first thing i installed, and hance cant tell how it is without.
Has two simple options.
calibrate and reset.
Greetings
All this application does is tell you how out your gsensor is, then you calibrate it and it tells you how well calibrated it is....then you close it and the calibration is completely forgotten, ie...then load up Need for speed and you have to play sitting at 10 degrees...
Hmmm that's exactly what i thought.
So there is no way to calibrate the sonsor stuff on our beloved wp7 phones?
And the thing isnt even calibrated correctly by default?
Whats to say about that?
Apart from need for speed (no calibration integrated in the game?)i haven't found a disadvantage of this.
The Glyder demo for example has calibration integrated in the game, so dose Rocket Riot.
Any other findings, good or bad?

Can you clarify what sensor you're talking about e.g. the G-force, GPS Sensor or Compass or ... ???
And don't just reply "The G-Sensor".
Also, please be specific as to what the issue you are having that makes you believe the "G-Sensor" needs recalibrating?

i used "g-sensor calibration tool" (from internet) for HTC HERO with cyanogenmod one & half year ago... but i don´t know if its available for HTC DESIRE HD...
if you want and noone answer you..... you can to post it or browse in www.cyanogenmod.com official site...
cyanogenmod hasn´t a native calibration tool
Sergi, is this the sensor that you can reset by waving the phone around in a figure of eight or is that for the compass?

is like that the sense roms has in settings-screen-g-sensor calibration.
you can reset it with a level figure.. look the thumbnail
also i remember that with amon´s ra recovery (htc hero) u can do "wipe rotation status" and there´s a tool for calibrate it in cyanogen but i don´t know if its available for desire hd i still never flashed CMxxx.
cheerss
Ahh that.
Whilst it doesn't work the same way if you download GPS Status, go to menu -> Tools there is an option for calibrate pitch and roll.

The Desire HD has a G-Sensor:
http://www.htc.com/www/product/desirehd/specification.html
You would recalibrate if you feel that the screen orientation does not respond properly to the way you hold the phone (portrait vs landscape).
On the stock ROM, you would do this by:
From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings.
Tap Display > G-Sensor calibration.
Place the phone on a flat and level surface, and then tap Calibrate.
After the recalibration process, tap OK.
AFAIK there is no equivalent provided by Cyanogen.
No but you cab use an app like GPS Status that has a tool for calibrating this. Works perfectly.

[Q] accelerometer calibration

Hello,
Long story short my ARC's accelerometer's X/Y axes are way off (can't use any apps that require accelerometer). Is here any way to calibrate it?
I think a hard reset may be the only way to restore the accelerometer (assuming it was not perma-damaged when you dropped it). There is a similar thread on the X10 forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792514
Unfortunately I don't think there is a system menu where u can calibrate it......could be wrong tho.

Thankyou for the link,
Also accelerometer itself is working just axes are off and here isn't any options in system menu/service menu to calibrate it (At least I couldn't find any).

No probs
Have you tried an app called Bubble? (spirit level app). What happens when you try to open this? I know you can calibrate the accelerometer within that app, but not sure if it applies to system settings too. Might be worth a try
I've tried buble level app. After calibration it works perfectly but calibration isn't system wide.
Hey, try downloading the game 'jetcar stunts' from the market, there's an option there to calibrate the accelerometer. Try that and see if it works

Phone screen turns off while calling...

Hi, i'm having this screen turn off while calling n doesn't on constantly even if I try to turn on using power switch.. n for some days it worked like screen turns off when I keep close to ear n turns on automatically when moved away, I can understand due to proximity sensor. But y now it isn't working? Is thr any settings?
Cool....)
Do you have a case or screen protector blocking the sensor? If not, the sensor might be broken.

Active Display

Hey guys,
I have the Moto G 4G/LTE (XT1039)
Recently, I have been unsuccessfully attempting and working around for ways to make "Active Display" to work on our phones... No such luck!!
So, I decided to try and experiment with possible replacement apps that can do the same or similar job...
And the best replacement app I have found so far to "Active Display" is:
• AC Display
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achep.acdisplay&hl=en
This app ? Is definitely my favorite.
Works well and is fully compatible with the Moto G sensors and even with the lock screen using the music player as well.
I really liked the look of the Deprecated version:
• AC Display (Deprecated)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.achep.activedisplay&hl=en
? But the sensors don't work!
I also tried:
• Dynamic notifications
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.greatbytes.activenotifications&hl=en_GB
But I found this app being faulty on my phone, and the sensors definitely unresponsive or other times working the wrong way around...
So, if you guys have any other suggestions?
? Please share your thoughts and suggestions!

??? ? please can you elaborate?
"Amoled display" for what?
I'm really trying to understand your point, but I fail to understand your logic.
Saying that, I understand that you are only repeating the same comment from other forums participants.
? If you download "AC Display (Deprecated)" you will find that is the exact carbon copy of "Active Display" from Motorola. Unfortunately the sensors on that app don't work. The App was "Deprecated".
The reason for that, was that the developer was worried that Motorola would put a stop on his app development.
(Check is comments on Google+)
So he changed the layout of the app to stop the obvious resemblance to the Motorola app and he launched the current "AC Display" that does a similar job to the original with working sensors as well, but with a different esthetic look.
The app is still in development.
My point here is:
Not so long ago we didn't had "driving mode" and "home mode" on the Moto G.
Today Motorola finally give us that.
In the exact same way they can give us "Active Display" taylored for our phones.
In reality, Motorola/Lenovo can easily give us some power saving version of Moto voice if they desire, since they have already give us the home and driving mode.
? Everything is possible, for as long there is a will, than there is a way...
But realistically they will leave the premium options for the more expensive Moto X.

i think than you..
according to me an obstacle for the touchless control and the active display of motorola is the presence of one micro processor dedicate to this functiones..but everything is possible..
motorola developers have tried to porting a version lite of the active display ... this is established from the presence of the process Active Display Lite..
The active display from the moto X doesn't work on the Moto G because the moto X has an Amoled display which can turn single pixels on and off.
AC display works well on my moto g XT1033, was searching for this kind of app since 2 months. Thanks alot.:good:
