[Q] Managing Partitions - Oppo Find 7 and 7a

Hi ! I recently installed CM12 on my Oppo Find 7 but it partitionned my internal storage against my wish. They are 2 partitions now, one of 100Mb, it constitutes the cache of my apps and it is too my default storage for download, pictures, etc... (Very small place for it..) And in the other hand, they are 26GB of free storages only for apps. Would know how to reunify both partitions ? My phone is rooted.

Unless it's different for samsung devices (have a good look before doing anything) this can hard brick your device. Look at pit files.

Yes, but do you know a tool to do it, i look for it since 2 days but nothing

1) CyanogenMod Roms do not support unified partitions!
Your phone was probably already unified before installing CM12, but it won't work properly if you leave it this way.
If you want to use CM roms, you must restore the original partitions on your Find 7 first.
2) To unify or de-unify your partitions :
LVM Partition remapping method
Unified Storage Layout method
3) Roms compatible with unified storage :

Thank you very much for your links, i'll study it ! But I don't understand.. My phone was with CM11 before and they was only one internal partition storage... Why did it do it with CM12 ?
I intalled CM12 twice to check up that it was not a mistake made by me.

Well, I was previously using CM11, until the dreadful day when my 3Gb apps partition got full...
I then used Coldbird's method to unify my internal partitions, and after the first reboot, CM11 was reporting something very similar to what you are experiencing right now.
However, everything was fine after wiping and installing a unified partition aware ROM on my phone.
Are you totally sure you were on CM11 before? Wasn't it a unified ROM "based" on CM11 instead? :silly:

I'm sure yes, i read that only nightlys have this particularity and i had the only one Snapshot stable (that's they said) of the list of CM ROM for the Find7

Well, I can assure you that flashing CM12 (or CM11) doesn't touch or mess with your partition layout.
Something else has done it, but i can't figure out what...

I solved my problem ! thank's to all ! I installed Nameless ROM finally

[RECOVERY] ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.8 [UPDATE 5/1]

ClockworkMod Recovery
This is ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.8 for the Motorola Xoom. It is build from Koush's latest source found in the CyanogenMod repo. It is compatible with all known models. At this time, DO NOT MAKE ANY NANDROID BACKUPS OR RESTORE AT THIS TIME. Just use recovery to flash kernels and zips. Reason being, you will end up with a super massive data.img likely larger than your fat32 sdcard can store. Fat32 has a maximum file size of 4GB. I am working on a viable backup solution.

NOTICE: Nandroid works exactly as it should. That means if you have 20GB of media in your internal storage, you will end up with a massive 20GB data.img on your SD Card. At the moment, there is nothing that can be done about this. Also, Flashing recovery has ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT ON YOUR ANDROID SYSTEM AND DOES NOT WIPE ANYTHING.

Installation Instructions
Pull up your command prompt, then
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
Let your Xoom boot up. Then to check out your shiny new recovery,
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Also, you can grab Rom Manager or QuickBoot from the market for easy access to recovery.

About a day or so ago, I stated the following in another thread...
bigrushdog said:
The recovery will be up shortly. In the mean time, i recommend you back up your /data/media folder to your computer. The way things have turned out. Android will have to treat your external sd card as the real sd card. In other words, android will no longer use your internal memory for things like camera. your internal memory will just be storage space. But, isn't this the way it's supposed to be? Also, this should enable Mass Storage. You will also have to flash a new updated kernel which will also be up soon.
Click to collapse
I think this statement was probably premature. Flashing recovery has ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT ON YOUR ANDROID SYSTEM. Recovery is completely separate. In the not-to-distant future, we should have a mod that will allow your Xoom to treat sd card as the system sd card. In other words, when you take a picture, it will go on the sd card. Also, apps will automatically store data to the sdcard. However, this future mod will have nothing to do with recovery.

Yes you can. Its the same recovery. Only difference is I built the one posted here and, of course, Koush built his.
Is there a newer kernel needed for this? I remember you saying something about that but i still see the same kernel from 4/14 1.3.1?

1.resize your first primary partition, that there will be unused space of 1024MB make a secondary primary partition Ext3 1024 MB with 'Mini Partition Tool Home wizard' - search google. You will not lose data with this tool. no need to backup.

don´t know how but it works. I´ve 900mb internal space free
I'll give it a whirl. Looks like he's using data2whatever to move the data to the sd-ext partition. I'm going to set it up on an 8gb SanDisk and see how it runs. Maybe that's a better way to keep junk on the SD.
Also, is there a reason that we shouldn't use Alquez's CWM-port to partition the SD? It seems like it's doing the same thing (creating a ext3 partition with no swap file).

you don't have to root, but you do have to be S-OFF. The ROM is what carries the root, so if you follow his directions you will get a rooted ROM, but you don't need to be rooted to install the ROM. If you are S-ON it will fail.

Is there a list of changes or is this a game of hide and seek, because I am fine installing it and searching for what's new. Also, can this be installed right over the other one?
Thanks for the ROM, pretty awesome speed and great usefulness. I'm going to run a Quadrant on it too.
Also, my sensors don't work on it. I think this is a problem with all of these ROMs though. Maybe I broke them by installing a non USA ROM, who knows. The only sensors working are proximity and light.
Thanks!
Also why don't you move this to the Android Development section because it's a ROM that's doing it, not a tweak or tip.
Updated: Wipe all then install
did, thanks for the feedback. I'm running setup and market sync right now.
Is your orientation and magnetic sensor working? Mine aren't and I'm not sure what the problem could be. I might have to go back to stock just to make sure they still work there.
This is still in beta test. How do you test sensors?
Here is what I'm doing to test the sensors:
1) rotate phone at desktop
2) rotate phone with Camera app running
3) rotate phone while watching YouTube
4) install Sensor Test app from Market and check status
5) install elixir and use sensor testing function
all of these result in no data from the sensors, though it does show that they exist. Just no information. Seems like a kernel problem, but I'm not sure.
What is new in the new version? Or what you fixed? I didn't see any major bugs.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using XDA App
Must be a faulty phone, mine doesn't have problems, I downloaded 2nd search sensor test app all are working. numbers changing.
It's working well on my phone, so far everything appears to be working ok.
I've removed a few apps that I don't need like stocks & news etc.

[Q] Best way to increase storage + need to update ROM?

I new to the wildfire S, so I just wanted to make sure I do it in the right order.
My gf phone is getting very low on space, even though she's got link2sd installed, and not as so many apps.
I got the phone from a store as second hand, and It's s-off and rooted.
I wanted to know what's the best way to create more space. I've added the images from the phone kernel and storage.

Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using Tapatalk 2
Don't forget the link2sd
Your link2sd setup have to be wrong since your 2nd partition is almost empty... While in link2sd app hit the menu button then Settings and make sure Auto link, Relink lib files at boot, Relink dex files at boot are checked and under Auto link settings all three options should be checked too. Install location can be left on Automatic.
Then you can create link in app list for each application separately (click on app and Create link option) or do them all at once - menu/Multi-select/Select all/Actions/Create link.
Changes will maybe not be visible immediately but after few min (or one reboot) you should notice diference.
@hussy22:
Do you have a good sense rom that may have Hebrew support?
@kobredabre:
thanks for the tips. I've re-checked all the settings and they were as you said. I've tried the multi select and it worked on the apps, but the data folder seems about the same size even after reboot.

Dl A2SD GUI from play store after installation open the app if u don't have a support ROM it will promote tat u don't have apps2sd script installed
Another way is Dl terminal emulator type Su

SD card is "virtual", it's just a partition on the internal storage, but it's easier to just call it SD card because that is how it's used.

Those upgrading from the unofficial ClockworkMod recovery port should note that CWM backups are incompatible with TWRP.
However, if you don’t mind a few more steps, we highly recommend trying out TWRP!

^I think that might be part of the problem. If this guy's recovery is trying to mount /sdcard as ext3, you're gonna have a bad time. In the meantime, nexwave-mat's build of twrp is pretty solid at this point, imho.

Really? I just went into nexwave-mat's twrp to test this and mounted/unmounted back and forth numerous times with no issues. I'm trying to figure out what could be different for you...

My SD card is a 16GB FAT32.
Is it the one that came with your phone? And if so, have you ever reformatted it in your PC? But if this were the case, I'd be surprised if you haven't been having issues with every recovery out there besides bytecode64's CWM, which worked for some reason while the official CWM didn't.

It's not the one that came with the phone. It's a PNY brand. I hadn't formatted it before trying the recovery. I then formatted it in FAT, FAT32, and NTFS. I also tried formatting with the phone and nothing works.
So it's working with CWM just fine?

I can confirm that this recovery does not play well with my MSD card, either. Works fine on reg TWRP and CWM.
That's been my experience as well, mchief298. So assuming this recovery was working properly, what would it offer over nexwave-mat's twrp? I don't really see the need to reinvent the wheel here.
This is TWRP with just a different boot up screen. Nothing is different. Also after installing this my sd-card will not mount in recovery. This is broken
