[Q] Always On "OK Google" Hotword detection on phone doesn't co-exist with Moto 360
Hello,
I've searched high and low for a resolution to this issue but I can't figure it out. I have a nexus 6 on the latest 5.0.1 and the Google search APK that was just released today. I also have the 5.0.2 update for my Moto 360. Here is the issue.
When I turn the "Always On" hotword detection ON on my Nexus 6, when I try to use my Moto 360 to perform an "Ok Google" action when the Nexus' screen is off (or on, it matters not) both devices activate their voice recognition and they cannot process this. The little infuriating spinning icon appears on both the Nexus 6 Screen and the Moto 360 and nothing happens. Both devices are stuck.
Does this happen to anyone else? I really want my 360 to be the active device when its screen is on, and the nexus to be the active device when the 360 screen is off but it seems that this is not possible.
Does anyone else have a problem with this?

I guess as this is a design flaw, everybody suffers from this.
I can only guess, but it didn't occur to the guys doing the design, that the phone on the desk and the watch on your wrist could be a valid scenario. Put the phone in the pocket or anywhere else, and the problem is solved, the answer would be...

[Q] Moto 360 screen turns on for all updates/actions, even in theater mode

Is anyone else having issues with the screen turning on without notifications, even while in theater mode? For example, it seems that when my phone switches between having and not having cell service, the screen turns on. This also happens when I'm toggling any settings (such as updating the screen on time, etc) or setting watchfaces in Watchmaker in normal and theater mode. I'd expect the screen to stay off for any and all non-notification actions.
I have a Droid Maxx on 4.4.4 and Moto 360 on 5.0.2 with the latest version of the Android wear app (1.0.5.1724356).
I've noticed the same.
I believe the issues that I saw were directly related to Watchmaker bugs, since they've all been resolved since version 3.4.
Same issue here. Tilt to wake is off. Ambient is off. Not in theater mode. Screen will randomly come on every so often. Tried forcing it by turning WiFi on and off on phone. Switching GPS and cell service, but I can't recreate it. Hmmm

"OK Google" while screen is off

Now that we have the full google now settings back how can we setup "OK Google" to work from the lock screen when the screen is off? I know others had this working before we lost settings but try as I might I cannot get it going. Currently it is working from every screen including the lock screen but only when charging.
As far as I know, it won't work with the screen off and not plugged in. The moto X can do it bedbugs l because moto dedicates a low power core to handle the listening. I don't believe Google now listens all the time due to power consumption. Samsung would need to dedicate one of the 8 cores to an always listening and even then, I'm sure it would only be available to S voice.

mic pickup sucks, any way to improve it?

when i have the screen on and i try to say "ok google", my phone that is in my pocket with the screen off will pick it up before the watch does, any way to improve the watch pickup?
Same issue here. I took mine apart and cleaned the little mic port on the side with a needle and works better now. Also had to disable "OK Google" on lock screen because phone would also recognize it.

Ambient Display still works on Moto Z Play after nougat update?

Hi folks,
after i crashed my Nexus 6 i bought the Moto Z Play. Great mobile with a long lasting battery, i love it.
The only thing is, that i got used to Ambient Display on the Nexus. I read, that it is also possible on the Moto. Just stop and disable the process (called "Moto Info" on the device, German setting, maybe called different in other languages), go to display and enable the option Ambient Display.
But it doesn't work. Screen not goes on after receiving a message. Have i done smth wrong or is it not possible anymore after the update?
Thanks in advance, greetings and have a nice day.
PS: Having stock, locked, unrooted Android 7 on the phone.
Do you have the option "Ambient Display" on your phone? or did you confuse it with "Adaptive Brightness"?
As far as i know, Motorola has phased it out ( or nicely put intergrated with Moto Display) and the method you describe works only on Moto X Play.
Moto Display is the equivalent to Ambient Display. It's in the Moto App. IMO, Moto Display is better than Ambient Display.
Thanks for reply, and sorry for my long taking answer. Had to make a business trip to a neighbour country.
Yes, i've the option "Ambient Display" in the display settings. On MM was it possible to use it like i discribed it. But under nougat I never got it running. Which one is better depends on the own needs. I got used to the Nexus 6 and that it showed the preview of the received message, when the display switched on. With Moto Display I've to hit the icon first with the finger to see the message.
Moto display is working after nougat update.
Was anyone ever able to get stock ambient display (not Moto Active Display) working?
Disabling the Moto Display app enables the ambient display setting but it do not work at all, the screen never lights up when a notification arrives.
Any suggestions? maybe rooting or some xposed thing?

"Ok Google" with screen off on Razer Phone?

Anyone figured out if it's possible to have the phone listen for "Ok Google" while the screen is off?
I have voice match turned on to unlock the phone, but only seems to work if the screen is already on, kinda pointless.
