This app can put an appdrawer on the edge. Great for secondary launchers. - Note Edge Themes and Apps

If you want an app drawer on your edge screen use this....
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=JakedUp.AppDrawer&hl=en
It should of been an option from stock... Just add it to your quicklauunch edge screen.,
It works great with a secondary launcher if you wanna hide the dock on the homescreens.
Note: Hold the menu button within the app to change settings and font.

Thanks! I Just changed dpi to 300 with Xposed App Settings and it looks pretty good too!

Thanks for posting, but the drawer takes forever to load and can't be customized. There are much better options available.

Hi. That's weird. Mine comes up immediately. For customization you need to open the app drawer and then do a long press of recent apps to get to a menu to select settings. Then you can change fonts, background color and such. What are some of the better options available? Always interested in checking out new apps! Unity launcher is nice in that you can set up shortcuts (including floating windows with the use of the app "floating window shortcuts")

I mentioned holding the button in the OP. Thanks for reposting though. Thought it was a bad omission on Samsung's part.
Yeah didn't know about the paid one either, but hey its what this forums for, right? Mine is quick as well. Easy to customize.

I'am looking for a way that i can make on my home screen 5x5 for my icons.
Is this possible and what i can used for it.?

Ehhh... Is there a way to just have a "system" friendly shortcut icon to launch the app drawer? In other words, I already use a nice launcher app and I like its look and want to just open my app drawer to be the same as when I open it using the android app dock, not having this whole miui layer...
Currently using Next Launcher, but the launcher I use is irrelevant, I just want a system level call to open my normal app drawer rather than have an entire app represent the drawer. Another UI to manage is not what I want, as it is unaware of theme or font changes.
Isn't there a way to simply make a shortcut icon and put it in my edge bar.????????

Have you tried or are willing to use a replacement launcher? I use Next Launcher which lets you control the icon grid spacing both on the home screen desktop and in the app drawer plus let's you have fine pixel resizing of widgets (widgets normally only resize in blocks spaced as wide as your icons, but this app lets you resize widgets pixel by pixel for finer control)
Many launchers also offer this flexibility not just the one I mention. Check them out! I hope I understood your question properly! (Next launcher also let's you change the icon look, the screen transition animation, and many other things. It looks great and is compatible with all themes made for Go launcher. Furthermore, it restores touch wiz's lost wallpaper scrolling function! But like all launchers, it does nothing for the look of the edge bar unfortunately, since the edge bar is basically an unsupported hack on the O.S. which has to be programmed for specifically...)

I agree. I would love nothing more to have a shortcut to my 360 Launcher app drawer on the "Edge". The app drawer app the OP provided is fine in a pinch, but nothing beats the app drawer transitions on 360 Launcher.

I have found a not ideal work around, which is to use the gesture shortcuts in Next Launcher so that whatever homescreen I'm on, I just swipe up to open my app drawer. However my ultimate goal is to be able to open the apps from the edge bar.. Why is this so important?
Because, the whole killer app feature of the edge bar, which I keep stressing to people who ask what the point of it is, is that I can open or switch to other apps from whatever app I'm in without exiting to the home screen first or scrolling through the recent apps.
My workaround still doesn't allow this.. But it DOES allow me to completely hide the dock bar at the bottom and have a FULL screen of widgets on my home screen. Which is pretty
I now have all my most used apps on the edge bar so I no longer need the android app dock on the bottom. It's really pretty and ergonomic.

ADW.Launcher
So, after trying out a few Home Launchers, I have settled upon ADW.Launcher. I must admit, I didn't think anything would be able to replace Helix Launcher, but ADW has all of the speed, eye candy, tweaks, and features that I am loving right now! I also love the feature of Tag Home, which has labels for your different apps when you open the drawer, so I do wish it had that. But aside from that one feature, everything else on ADW OWNS!!!
- It can have up to 7 screens (9 would be great though).
- You can hit nexus style buttons on the bottom to flip to the next screen, instead of sliding with your thumb across the screens (which sometimes hits icons and launches them instead of sliding, I guess because our screens aren't the most sensitive anymore - always happened to me, so I appreciated this navigation option. Does anyone else have this problem? Or needing to swipe a few times to get it to go to the next screen?).
- Since we don't have multitouch, we can't pinch-to-zoom out on our home screen to preview all of our screens. ADW overcomes this via TWO Preview methods:
Method 1: When you hit the home button from any of the screens, or...
Method 2: You can preview JUST the screens to the left or right of whichever screen you are on at the moment, by holding down on the nexus style buttons on the bottom-left or bottom-right, flanking the dock
- The animation of the screens sliding left and right looks awesome.
- You can choose either Galaxy Spica S style navigation of your apps, or the 3-D Fly-In (which I prefer), when you open the drawer. Unfortunately, no option for just sliding the drawer up I don't think.
- You can choose which of your 7 screens (or 5 or 3, whatever) you want to be your "Home" screen (very cool!).
- Customizability:
-you can adjust the speed that you change screens
-you can adjust the "overshoot"
-you can adjust the speed of the Fly-In when opening drawer
-you can adjust the tint of the docked icons
-you can adjust the size of the docked icons
-you can hide the app titles
-you can show or hide the background screens when apps or the app drawer is open, and also adjust the shading of them
-You can customize almost everything!!!
- There are still more features that I haven't discovered yet
I found the creator's thread here, he's an xda member of course
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645550
And a Youtube video here of many of the customizable features:

I just installed ADW.Launcher from the Marketplace.
Please feel free to leave your Home Launcher reviews in this thread if you like! Tell us why you have chosen what you have, and which features are particularly important to you and why. Hopefully this will help people or newbies to be able to weed out the less useful or non-working launchers. Maybe I'll start a poll too
Reserved. Just because I've always wanted to be in a position where I can "reserve" posts like devs lol.
Thanks for the post. Id like to see some reviews of the other launchers in this thread.

Just tried it out for myself. Great launcher. The only thing I miss from Helix is the double tap to preview. The button isnt super hard though. ill have to make my way to the dev to suggest

Which launcher are you talking about? If it's Launcher Pro, then yeah, I agree with you, that's why I went back to Helix, and since then have stuck with ADW. I love the preview!!
helix had preview with double tap on background. preview does rock

ADWLauncher extended dock?

how do I enable extended dock with more options then just phone/browser and app?
You can disable desktop dots which will let you store 4 apps. Additionally, press on the app drawer and scroll up, you can store as many apps as you want in there
that didnt do anything, i just want a more customizable dock like launcherpro has, im not even asking for the scrollable dock like launcherpro has, will uninstalling adwlauncer and installing launcherpro instead screw up CM6 to the point cease to function properly?
This one fooled me too for awhile, but all you have to do is drop an icon on the dock, just like you would move it around a homescreen and it will stick there. Go through the settings to make sure your secondary Action Buttons are enabled and you'll have 4 spaces to drop things onto plus the app drawer at center.

HomeScreen: Different Wallpapers / Shortcut to Screen?

I am looking for two things that I am not sure if they exist or not:
1. Is there any tool/hack/app/magic that will switch to a different wallpaper depending on which home screen you are on at the time?
2. Additionally, I don't see a way to create shortcuts on the home screen that will allow me to launch the app drawer, or to "jump" to a specific home screen.
Does anyone have any ideas if these are possible or am I barking up the wrong tree?
Thanks!
If you're using the (stock) Sense launcher, I don't know of any way to customize the wallpaper on a per (home)screen basis. Not sure if any third-party launcher does. I do know that Launcher Pro lets you disable the wallpaper scrolling.
The little triangle on the bottom left of the curved bar (next to the "Phone" button) opens the app drawer.
The stock launcher, besides allowing you to use the HTC widgets, offers practically no customization.
I've been using Launcher Pro for the last week, and have been very happy with it (disclaimer: if you've updated Qik, your default launcher setting frequently goes into the bit bucket (at least with the updates before the latest, which I have not tried). ADW Launcher is also very good, but I was getting intermittent force closes with it.
HTH,

#2 I don't know if you knew this put if you 'squeeze' the screen it shows an overview of the screens.

Ah, yes. Forgot about that one...
Launcher Pro also does that, and you can also do a double-tap of the home button in Sense, for the same function.
ADW will let you assign that function to an up or down swipe on the screen, along with (or) some other choices.
Cheers,
-Jerry
adw allows you to assign a 'swipe up' and 'swipe down' command. i use them to access my preview screen (ie: see all desktops) and to show/hide notification bar.
great tool. lots of fun options to muss with.
regarding your questions
1) i dont think so. i think of it was one wallpaper covering 5 workspaces. not 5 different desktops.
2) try adw

[Req] app/widget that scrolls icon on homescreen

I'm looking for something that is either just a simple scrollable widget that I ca put icons instead o swiping between multiple homescreens. I have my clock and battstatt widget that takes up the top hlf of my screen ad bottom row. I want to be able to lock the widgets so when I swipe they stay or have a widget to scroll app kind oflike dock that you can swipe between different icon setup docks. Does anything that can help me achieve this exist?

You may want to try simi folder. Its free in the market. It doesn't do scrollable widgets but it let you put apps in a folder and when u tap on that folder (ex. Games) it brings up all the games you put in it and it let's you scroll through them and choose. Its pretty customizable and let's you choose which icon you want for any folder you make. Maybe this will help a bit.

There's also Scrollcut (not free) on the market
http://www.androidzoom.com/android_applications/tools/simi-folder-widget_psrx.html
4 options (i currently use 'em all)
Multiple icons (pay) shrinks the icon and lets you put 16 icons in the place of 4 (invaluable, imo)
Launcher pro (plus is pay) has a 15-icon scrollable dock (2 actions per icon (up to 30 apps available on the dock)
Quickdesk (gives you 2 pages (1 portrait, 1 landscape)) when you hit home key (from anywhere)
Adw ex (has an (unlimited?) scrollable dock for apps (this surplanted launcher pro as my launcher)

There is an app called Zeam(Home app) - free on the market - that has a scrollable dock. You can put 10-15 icons on it and scroll through the dock itself. Main screens scroll as well, but the dock will scroll also (separately)
Hope this helps!

I realise this thread is years old... but I figured for the sake of anyone googling this query - I would throw in my 2 cents.
There is an app called Launch-X which I think might be what you're looking for. I'm not sure if Launch-X is able to scroll horizontally, but the vertical scroll works really well.

google now as home launcher??

hi, i was just wondering if its possible to make google now my home screen. i realized i don't need a launcher because i have a ton of apps and instead of swiping through my drawer i often find myself just typing in the app in the search bar. With the new swype keyboard in 4.2 its much quicker to launch an app that way, i also put my dock apps in my lmt launcher and don't use widgets except for the search bar of course. so has anyone figured out how to make google now their HS? i would love for it to just open when i press home and open right after unlocking the lockscreen.
No launcher = no Android
Closest you could manage would be a single launcher page with a clock widget that looks like Google now plus some minor themeing.
Lets tweak your idea and make it a widget for Now, that would be pretty sweet.

yeah ive tried it but im looking to just make google now the home launcher not just something that looks like it. does anyone know if i can remap the home button to just open google now?
With a custom launcher i think you can. For example i'm using nova launcher, and under the gesture and behavior menu you can choose the home button behavior with several action and all you app. The only thing i'm not sure about is if you can set only an app or even an app's activity (like is gnow)...
