Don't have Xperia device but I'll check that as soon as I can...
If we could add our own assets and program will build 9.png that will be great...
This program could be awesome in a future if Sony continue improving and working on it...

Right now theme creator it's kinda slow, buggy and not friendly to use, theme creator does not offer much customization, otherwise you can do magic through photoshop, but they did not offer any template other then stock one. I would like to see templates with examples of which part is used for which asset, they made one huge file (over 120 mb) and put every system part that could be themed, if they separate every different part that would be really awesome, now you got to edit everything inside one file, it's not that hard to do that, but its really confusing, you need to visit their tutorial for every part, i don't really like that, it would took me ages to make one theme that i really like. It's good to see that Sony actually cares about users of their smartphones and i really really hope they will make more improvements while it's still in beta phase. Or they should make theme creator as standard application not completely java based with more options inside app or make more templates with less content, just to be easier to overview, edit and generally clearly.

Actually, I planned to use it one as a converter and compiler... nothing more.
I built many themes and I don't need program for theming...
But...
It could make themers life little easier...
Actually, I wrote first tutorial "how to built themes and theme Sony UI" when Sony released their first theme engine...so I really believe we'll find our way to get maximum from this program.
We know which asset is for what and I'm sure this program could only save few min or hour of boring merging and compiling...
Sony will continue to polish this app, I'm sure...
I'm also sure we'll have great app/program soon...
One awesome thing that I would like to see in the future is implementation of this app into ROM and theming OS in a real time..

I own E3, and I replaced nav buttons , but they stays the same old... There's no way to change some bckgrnds, too...

Xperia Theme Creator
I don't know if everyone is understanding the nature of the Xperia Theme Creator, ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS6 IS REQUIRED. Without Adobe Photoshop CS6 this application will not work - period. I have earlier versions of Adobe Creative Suite and I can confirm 100% that XTC v0.0.1 BETA will NOT function at all.
I stand corrected in advance if you have Adobe Photoshop CS6 which in turn would allow XTC v0.0.1 BETA to properly function.
Just my 2 cents!

Hi,
I'm glad to have found this discussion forum.
I'm using a MacBook 10.9. I find that, every time I add a new image, it'll take ages to load the preview. If I click on other sections, it'll again take ages to load. Anyone else having this problem? In the end, I had to quit the Creator and launch it again. It's so much faster this way.
Thanks for any help rendered!

hey, what does it mean by "support lollipop"? my phone is using 5.0.2. I had the back/home/overview buttons images in the theme creator, however, they don't show up when I installed it on my phone. Is that related to "support lollipop"?

CONFUSED
ive use sony themes creator but when i create some navigation bar. i change back button, home , and overview but the back button got zoom idk why. i insert the same resolution image but only the back button got zoom. and another problem that i ve is in background. its said we should insert 2 image 1 for landscape and 1 for port but when i rotate my phone the image still on the same position but got zoom again. idk why so many bug.

Thank you for your time and great job mallman!!
This theme made me switch from TouchFlo3D to WAD2. I did some corrections to better suit my needs. For example startmenu panel wasn't fading out when certain icons were tapped.
I managed to redirect messaging icon into sms/mms folder instead of main messaging screen but I have a problem with other icon. You designed My computer icon to open file explorer. I would like it to open programs directory just like windows start menu->programs link does. I can open /windows/start menu/programs in fexplorer by passing path as a parameter but it's not how I would like it to be. Do you know what command should be issued to achieve that? I googled for answer and searched xda forums but without any results. Something tells me it has something to do with shell32.exe but I'm a noob in WM world and I don't even know where to start.
Thanks in advance.

Don't make the "my computer" change you desire more complex then it has to be Just go into author mode, delete the my computer icon. Next just click and hold where the icon used to be and select new>shortcut Navigate to the folder you wan to open. Select the button images you want (note my computer icon is in the \storage card\WAD_Icons\MALLMAN\Mallman_vista folder) You can select both images to be the same if you want or make it different on a press. THat should work for you
bug fix coming today guys. Hold out on installing this for a few until I post it.
Bugs:
1. launching windows media player from start menu closes the sidebar and it should be fading the start menu.
2. Launching My Computer from start menu doesnt hide the start menu
3. Launching Camera from start menu doesnt hide the start menu
4. Launching control panel from start menu doesnt hide the start menu
Thanks for the tip to the bugs Sidewinder
Woot! A theme! .
Great work Mallman, you rock.
Hmph, I still want a theme with shades of brown/greenish with a bit of a comical touch to it and playfull buttons with slightly round edges... I'm brambling.
I tried to make a theme with the background I attached but I just massively fail at WAD.
Anyyyways! Great job mate!
P.s. with the fix your gonna make, will it be a complete new WAD folder thing or will it be an additional small file?
Solution you suggested gave me the same results as opening fexplorer.exe with path to folder parameter but your way is more elegant, thanks . Nevertheless I treat it as a temporary solution. If I find out how to create link like start->programs has I'll share with it of course.
Speaking of bugs let me add one more:
Hiding startmenu panel doesn't hide shutdownmenu panel.

has anyone successfully edited the .9 images

has anyone successfully edited the .9 images and got them working in their themes ?
Plz reply the poll too...
check out teknotiq, he explained some of the information to me about his work with editting .9 pngs... also most themes such as BUUF, Fadte to Blue, Stericson's themes, all have .9 pngs edited... you can check with them as well
I too have got them successfully edited...
i have made this thread just to know wheather .9.png images are changed widely ?
so thanks on your reply....
want more people reply....
They can be changed but they always break, I have never had one loop me at the boot screen. Some look ok and others dont, its just trial and error.
I've noticed the best way to change these .9.pngs is to give them a 1 pixel border. The buttons for instance, the inside is one color and the border should be a 1 pixel black or whatever color of the theme. You have to erase the corners to, if not they stretch weirdly.
hey pud, try editing the clear notifications button and change its color, without it breaking. Then send me a pic. I was stuck on this forever....

I figured out the .9.pngs! The procedure is here! Updated: 02/13/09
::New:::
If you have downloaded the SDK and Eclipse, you have all the tools you need, If not you should grab them and follow Google's guide.
This process is somewhat a pain in the butt, but worth it. You need to take the .9 off of the file name that you want to change, then drag it into the draw9patch tool from the Android SDK(in the tools folder) Here is some info about draw9patch. Pay attention to the Note in the middle of the page. Once you have your 9patch file edited and saved you need to compile it, the lines will remain on this .9 image until it is compiled with eclipse. you need to open a project, or create one in eclipse, drag the .9.png into the drawable folder, then right click your project folder and choose android tools/export unsigned application package. Once this is done, you want to open the apk with WinRar and pull your .9.png files out. you will notice the lines are gone! That is all, I am sure people who have not downloaded the SDK and Eclipse yet might have problems understand this process, but I will try to help you. I am not a guru with Eclipse but i know enough to get by.
Good luck and happy stretching =)
Playing with the SDK today, i found in "SDK\tools\lib\res\default\drawable" all of the .9.pngs have the black lines intact. These could be good for learning the best way to stretch these images. Also the xmls have not been converted to binary, so it might make for some interesting hacks for themes.
Here is a screen shot of the draw9patch tool. The bottom and right sets the content area and the left and top set the stretch area.
I am not sure if i am going to disclose this info just yet (because of the competition) but i wanted to let everyone know its been figured out and we will all know very soon!
i am uploading some screen shots now with some perfect buttons! Anyone who has used my theme knows the buttons looked somewhat messy, well no longer will they be.

looks amazing man! I've been using this theme for the last week and i must say its totally grown on me. Thanks for putting out some kick ass updates
Great to hear.
To tell you the truth, I loved your theme. The only reason I uninstalled it was because of the .9.pngs stretched out and looked bad.
After seeing these pics though I will reinstall =)
That's cool but this theme competitions is starting to suck, no one want to share any info due to fear of losing. I'm fearing this comp.. my be counter productive.
are some .9's harder to edit than others? never tried editing the buttons and such but the ones i've tried editing (the notifications bar etc.) seem not to mess up, no matter what i do to them. are some of them just really temperamental?
Not me if i had info like that i would share it because for me i don't care if i win or lose one this not my first comp and second i have been doing this to long.
@Damnitpud
Good work bro.
For the few .9 pngs I have modified so far I just used the layer blending properties to apply an overlay with some opacity and saw no ill effects. I haven't done many yet, but if I am just changing colors, I don't see why this shouldn't work for all fo them. Since it preserves the original shapes and layouts, just adds a tint to the image.
I am going to type up the steps to getting the .9s working properly. I am going to end up sharing the info, i'm not one to usually hoard info. There is still some learning to do with the draw9patch tool, but at least we can get rid of those damn lines after messing with it in in the draw9 tool.
I will add it to the first post of this thread.

Yes some are very hard and only distort at larger sizes. The buttons are very difficult, even opening them up and saving the file will break it. you don't even have to change anything. Try changing the btn_default_normal.9.png and use the stock btn_default_pressed.9.png. you will see a big difference when you press that button.

I agree. I want to get into the comp but it's not for the money. I'm doing it because it's fun to see what people can come up with and I enjoy a challenge. Besides isn't the comp about who's theme is most aesthetically pleasing, since none of us are releasing the themes to the public until after the comp no one will see those things anyway unless you post up 100 screens shots that is.
I gave away my secret in the first post =)
Sweet jesus.
You've opened a whole new can of worms.
The world is in our hands, now.

Just wanted to know if themers

this is very interesting, good find.
I never heard of this before. This will allow me to build a digital clock widget to give my fadetoblue theme more of a TouchFlo3d look. Thanks!
Thats sick works well but if you have a theme installed it wont read the launcher from the theme so the stuff in the Luncher.apk from the theme wont show up clock, google search bar and stuff like that. Great idea and if themes can be installed with this its going to be bad a$$.
just bought it

if you download the apk couldnt you just replace and theme the elements in that and upload it? or is that not something that could be done? i understand that you couldnt redistibute it, but for your personal use no? i opened it up and it looks similar to the launcher...just a thought

well it would be easier if the developer got together with Jesusfreke and make it into a big update and incorporated the app as the home screen for a small donation type thing? I would pay again for a update like that then the sky is the limit with themes for this.
yeah i updated the elements like in the normal launcher by the way and resigned the whole app. people would have to know how to put the elements in the app themselves after purchase... not for amateurs. would like to see someone pull off some way to do it easily though.

there should be a meta.inf file in it that you need to remove to resign it so it takes the test keys. Why not just send baron a pm and talk to him? One idea would be to give him the themes to release through his website.
I asked him about whats been talked about here this is what he said.
Quote:
My first implementation of themes will be to look on the sdcard for the assets in the same directory structure and filename that they are found in the dxtop.apk.
Something like this: /sdcard/dxtop/theme/res/drawable/clock_dial.png
or
Something like this: /sdcard/dxtop/theme/res/drawable-land/tray_handle_normal.png
Then i asked him this,i hope it could be done.

O.k i got you so this would solve the problem i love this app bro very cutting edge, hey i have another Q: off topic if you can make your app look for those folders could a app to install themes be created using this format you have come up with or maybe even have it install a whole update.zip?.
If this can be done my whole world will change.

Installation:
You'll need Stylish (Stylish for Firefox | Stylish for Chrome | Stylish for Opera | Stylish for Safari) or a similar add-on to apply the userstyle.
FAQ:
Q: Does this theme apply to all of XDA?
A: No, it only changes the forums (the Portal, Wiki, etc are untouched).
Q: I found a part that isn't themed!
A: Let me know, post a link to the page and I'll fix it.
Q: 2010 still has different layouts, some items are in different positions, etc. Can you change that?
A: It depends. Basically, I probably won't be able to change any item's position and make it look good using a userstyle.
Q: Are the ads removed?
A: No.
Q: How can I be notified of updates?
A: Stylish should automatically check & download updates (unless you have that option turned off). Otherwise I'll post in this thread whenever I update, so you can also subscribe if you want.
Q: Can I check the source code?
A: It's available on userstyles.org, just click the "Show Code" button.
Q: Are there any risks?
A: Risks are explained here, and you can check the code to make sure it's clean.

Sorry ... accidentially posted in the wrong thread.
There's so much difference between xda 2010 theme and xda 2015 theme! Amazing work :good: :good: :good:
I've been around for so long, and it's only now that i found this...
It's never to late to say thanks, so many, many thanks, i find it way better like this
Also like your dark/blue theme, but the unread threads aren't too easily to find for me.
I don't know if you can understand what i mean, but even if the unread threads are bold, they don't catch my eyes as they do in the 2013 to 2010 theme
@GermainZ I don't know if you'll ever come back here but... here's a little question, would it be possible to move the "subscribe forum" and "mark forum read" buttons as we loose many space because of them ?
i've made a screenshot to make it more clear :

Please retry or refresh thr links. Becuase it is just fine. It has been launched in KasKus 3 days ago and noone complaining about the link.
My suggestions:
1. Use alternative browsers; Safari, Opera etc or alternative device or alternative ISP because in my experiences, XDA Devs sometimes stucks on certain browser and ISP (Indonesia bloackage policy), please refer it to your ISP.
2. Refresh your browser and deleting cache
Good luck
Great looking theme!
Great job! At last, a real black theme for xperia!

@slonn, yes, both are themed (I'm on z3c stock rooted)
@Russell.Eclair, thanks so much for this! Finally a dark theme with dark background in settings :good: Only one thing, in SMS the name of the sender and the time stamp is quite dark and hard to read, any chance to make that white too?

Yes sorry for that.right now, It is likely impossible to change the SMS font color. Some of dafault button, bar application is based on per applications. So the theme only change some part of it. Have been tried to change per application default bar and button, but it becomes hard to see.

Sorry my bad. Xperia Light Material version has been updated. Enjoy it.
Rainbow/ Nidji Wallpaper is available in v 1.5. Unfortunately lower than v 2.0 won't be available in XDA-Devs now since my thread was banned after uploading that version. It is available in Kaskus that allow me to upload to any hosting files. SO you can download from there.
@gregbradley I don't like uploading to d-h.st because my ISP very slow accessing that hosting files. Thank you. I hope you won't close this thread again due to "POLICY":fingers-crossed:

Actually we would prefer you not to use dev-host. It is within the rules (But only just). Better solutions are android file host, but there are others
It is likely to be decade that I enjoy this guy rocking ROM, back to XPERIA X1. I saw your tweet @SonyXperia and I agree, I'v been so mad that my 1 month Xperia T3 isn't supported to be upgraded to Lollipop. Sony engineering is really crap, it has been happened several times, back in Xperia X1, Xperia Play, Xperia SP. They should be able to upgrade all 2014 Xperia device to lollipop, they are just the way too lazy, NO WONDER why Xperia division doesn't gain any profit since years ago, because the human inside xperia are full of damn stupid engineer.
I mean there are many great ROMS, Themes in XDA-Developers that are already Lollipop, it was made by individual. While SONY has a bunch of engineer still can't make Lollipop available for all 2014 Xperia Device. I think the answer is only two, SONY Engineers are just too stupid or they are LAZY potato head. I think SONY should take action by replacing its Engineers to these great developers in XDA-Developers.
However, feel thank you to XDA Developers and @Russell.Eclair for sharing this great theme so I can feel the outlook of Xperia Lollipop eventhough it wasnt the real lollipop.
@Russell.Eclair I just downloaded and try your great Android and Light Material, but why the link is unavailable now? I havent download the Dark Material

Thank you for your nice words @VSJ in previous post. Actually that you didn't know Sony has confirmed that there's lollipop for midrange non Z series. Btw, just send me your email and I will send the v2.0 and v2.5, root and unroot version.
Starting today, I think I won't support XDA-Developers anymore. I only support local forum for the next v2.5 :good:
If you are asking why? Here is the reason,
I think my theme isn't good enough for XDA-Devs, because from hundreds downloaders only 10% who give that thanks button. C'mon I am not asking money for that, it is only "thanks" button. I give it for free while I know there are people willing to pay for similar theme. Of course I release developer and donator versions to be tested before launched in public.
Also, from hundreds downloaders, only you and @slonn who give feedback while most of the comments are crying member asking like a crying babby.
Okay I think it's enough,
THIS IS MY LAST WORDS:
FOR YOU who read this IF YOU are enjoying other persons work in XDA-Developers, just give your thanks button or feedback. It WONT bite you. Appreciate someone's work, dude! If you like it just give that button. If you don't like it, just give your comments.
best ever with black version i have sent u pm , hope u read it love your work , now i want to use it only:L) @Russell.Eclair best regards
