[OFFICIAL THREAD] Getting the LG QRemote from 5.0 Korean update working on AOSP 5.x - LG Optimus G Pro

***OFFICIAL THREAD FOR THIS ISSUE FOR THE OPTIMUS G PRO E980***
I have the necessary APKs and other files to make a flashable zip, however whenever I try to flash it it succeeds but when I click on quickremote, the app force closes on me and will not load. How can we successfully get this to work on lollipop? I have posted several times in the forums but nobody seems to care about helping get this done.
Here is a the link to my pasted logcat relating to this error. I uploaded it to pastebin.

I replied to one of your posts on another thread. @Snepsts and I are attempting to figure this out at the moment through PM's and such. I will make a thread for it if we get anywhere with it.

I pasted a logcat on pastebin and put the link in the OP

Are you sure, you got all files? Odex file? Another part of the apk? Set the right permissions? Do you use a custom screen density?

Check your inbox BTW. I just sent you a message.

First is why I asked about density. Try it out with stock density of the G3
2nd: Those are the patha I'd go diggin. Maybe gonna explain a bit closer/have a closer look tomorrow. Got to sleep now.^^

Amything new here? Have you already searched in the fokders I "mentioned"?

I'm back and trying to get this working once more. It is so odd that the way they got this working on the G2 and G3 does not work on ours. It makes me think that the stock LG ROM with lollipop for the G Pro is just a bunch of hacks LG threw into a zip file which just makes this even more difficult. I'm not going to give up yet though. If anyone else has any suggestions please PM me. I would gladly appreciate more ideas.

@Sunandroid, how can I get the odex files without installing the ROM myself. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Not sure, but it should be doable by unpacking the roms zip.

I am pretty sure the odex files are generated when the ROM is installed. This means I need to have someone who has the ROM working to get them to me.. The zip only has the files from the system partition.

Yeah, and the odes files usually are in system partition. Post a link to the ROM, you want to ectract the remote from, please. Gonna dig in there next weekend if O got the time.

[DUMP] /system

If you already have this phone in hand, could you do a favor and drop me some files from /system, namely the video player and any other files/apks possible... RootExplorer might do the job, no root required (at least not on my phone).
Trying to port some apps/drivers, but since i dont own this phone - its proving to be difficult =)
Thanks for the help!
EDIT: Thanks to jimbob343 for /system dump. Hopefully with no objections, here it is:

Deodexed? damn i'm so new to android.. thought i understood wm6.5 (rom building) pretty well.
I've downloaded it three times. Every time I received errors when I tried to unzip it using 7zip - error: Unsupported compression method.
Any suggestions?

downloaded, extracted, no error... must be something on your side
What program are you using to open the file?
7z, probably same as you...

Well... This sucks...
I have downloaded it four times. I have tried WinRar and 7zip and both give the same error messages for all downloads: Unsupported compression method.
I downloaded the Framework and it opened up just fine.
Can someone post a separate d/l link for the dump? Maybe, on another service? Then I'll try again.
@frifox - thanks for your quick replies. Can't imagine what the issue is. MY IS provider has three data transfer rate plans and I'm on the third (second fastest of the four). And, it appeared to d/l pretty quick with no issues/interruptions.
might be good idea to try upgrading 7zip to the latest one... i used the max compression rate when packing the dump.
I'm using 4.65... Are you using the 9.15 beta?

I used smali and allowed each APK to reference all of the .odex files in the framework, added the classes.dex files to their respective APKs, and zipaligned. I don't know if it matters, but I did those steps through the command line, although I'm sure the process would be a lot faster with a script. If you would like the exact line-by-line process that I used, let me know.
So how is this Rom & all I have to do is download & flash it or is there another step to do?

The procedures are the same as for other ZIP-based ROMs: download, transfer to phone, and flash through recovery. You may or may not need to erase your data (depending on which ROM you're coming from), but backing up your data beforehand is advisable and never hurts.
I haven't received any feedback regarding this specific ROM yet (I don't know if that's a good or bad sign). The main difference is that it's deodexed and will decompile without errors. I'm sure there are other threads with more in-depth information on IMM26 changes/improvements/issues.
SuperUser
I was impressed with this rom for the first few minutes I used it. But then I found out that my SuperUser app wasn't working. I tried updating the binaries through the app itself but it couldn't gain root access. I downloaded the file again and flashed it again but SuperUser still didn't work. It was the same problem with not gaining root access. So I flash the SuperUser zip file from zedomax's tutorial on rooting the Nexus S 4G and I was able to gain root access. Just thought I'd tell you.
mvilla, how did you fix the superuser root access problem? i am having the same problem when i try to update binary, and im getting permission error when i try to flash recovery in rom manager, i think is because of superuser not working.
I went to nexusshacks.com and downloaded the nexussrootICS.zip file (I think that's what its called). There's a SuperUser.zip file within that zip file. I moved the file to my phone and flashed it in recovery (wipe cache and dalvik cache of course). And its working well.

Hey buddy, I'd LOVE to have the step-by-step, or line-by-line on the process you used to decompile. If you could PM me, or post it up here for everyone to use, that would be great!! I'm kinda new to the decompiling and compiling scene so any help would be great! Also, you said that most devs that use ICS probably use a kitchen to decompile and compile their .jar and .apk files, where is this kitchen? Or are you talking about Android SDK?

Did you ever get that step-by-step process for deodexing ICS from the OP? If so, can you send it to me?
I guess the Google Apps are included?
Will there be any further updates to this in the near future, or has this reached the end of the line so-to-speak? Just curious because I like having the natural AOSP of this.
Been using this since the 9th and I have to say it's very smooth. Very stock too, which obviously is what it's supposed to be. Just saying that for anyone who comes in looking for something customized. This is basically pure vanilla ICS.
Sorry for the delayed replies. I've been hammered by other obligations lately.

I have replaced the Google apps that have been updated since the IMM26 release. There are rumblings that the official ICS ROM should be released sometime soon. I'm not holding my breath, but I'll offer the same thing to that release once it comes out.
If you're asking about adding functionality or features, I don't think I'd have anything unique to offer since there are so many other ROMs and customizable updates out already. I have considered including FaceLock functionality, but it adds quite a bit of size to the ROM and honestly, it hasn't worked very well for me. If there is enough interest, I'll include it as a separate revision in the future.

[Q] S Voice/Vlingo Uninstall and Install Modded Directions Please

I just rooted my phone for the first time and flashed the Frankenstein Ego ROM. I just want to say thank you for the amazing work by everyone here at XDA. You guys are the best!
S voice that comes with the ROM does not work and get a network error. I know that there is a modded version that should work (here if anyone is looking: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662358)
I apologize for the noob question, but how do I uninstall the S voice that came with the ROM and Vlingo (I tried Titanium and finding it in the .zip file, but didn't want to play with the latter too much).
Again, thank you for the amazing work. BTW-this ROM is absolutely wonderful.
Please provide step by step directions, I am new to the whole scene.
titanium worked
Never mind. Used titanium to uninstall. The modded version works great!!
For anyone else interested use the S Voice patch v4 on this blog

It looks like there is a v3 is posted on that url.
I examined the script and it's not quite right copying over one of the files that the dev put into that flashable zip. Specifically, there is an etc/permissions folder that isn't being written back to the phone. If the app works, then maybe that file isn't necessary. But if it doesn't someone needs to tell the dev to correct the script and see if it that helps.

It may work the way it is. It wouldn't hurt anything to try it. That was just an observation on my part.
FYI for anyone downloading that flash, it will delete several default files on your phone, including voicetalk.apk and vlingo.apk. If you depend on these apps I thought you would like to know. Please backup your phone prior to flashing this file so you can easily restore everything the way it was.

[RECOVERY] TWRP 3.1.1-0 Unofficial

I got bored, so I decided to build the latest TWRP. Big thanks to @negamann303 for his source. I only made minor, mostly theme related, tweaks to it. The only non-theme related tweak that I can remember is that I enabled the flag that enables taking advantage of NEON, so that might result in some speed increases, but I haven't done any tests to confirm that.
Q: Sweet! Does ADB backup work?
A: No. Sorry. If you know how to make it work, please let me know and I will implement it.
Q: Oh. So this is basically the same as the previous version?
A: Pretty much. I imagine it supports a whole bunch of new things that our watch isn't capable of, but who cares. It also features the nag screen that asks if you want to install the official TWRP app, which is useless in this case. You can tell it to stop though.
Q:So why should I bother with this?
A: Because you're a flashaholic that needs to have the latest and greatest thing. Duh.

Sources are posted in the OP. Help yourself. I don't know much about TWRP theming, but I do know that the files you want to modify are found in device/huawei/sturgeon/watch_mdpi. This is the folder that was modified by @negamann303, and by myself to a lesser extent, to get the theme that you see in the version that I built. There is also a watch_mdpi folder in the TWRP source somewhere that contains the default watch theme. TWRP is also capable of themes that can be applied post-build so you don't have to build a new one every time you want it to look different, but I don't know anything about how to make that happen. Search XDA for flashable TWRP themes for examples, but make sure they're for 3.1.0. The theme template has changed a bit from previous versions. Hope that helps!

I forgot it was even there, so I wasn't looking into it. Once you disable it the first time, it's gone for good unless you wipe the device. Let me know if you figure out how to get rid of it though. I'm surprised there isn't just a flag to enable.

Same as with a phone. Extract the .img file from the zip attached to the post, boot watch in bootloader mode, plug into computer, fastboot flash recovery [path to twrp image file].

Nextbit Robin BIOS Bootanimation

Well I just picked a Robin a couple of days ago and I'm liking it but, I missed the BIOS bootanimation I had on my OP2. So I decided to make one. I made this simple one following the OP2 one that I had.
UPDATE: I've added the updated version for download. I've corrected the GPU version and spelling errors. If anybody wants a ROM specific one, just PM me and let me know. It'll take a couple days depending on how busy I am.
Here is a link to a preview.
Nice work! I noticed a typo, though. It says "Deteting Flash ROM" instead of "Detecting".

Thanks, I will fix that as well as the GPU.
Looks nice! I will apply it after op fixes a typo!
I'm going to try and have this fixed by the end of the week. Work has had me pretty busy.
OP has been updated with the new version.
Anybody have a preview of what this looks like?

Tried on Omni and while it does work, my phone wouldn't boot. I had to reboot to recovery and delete the zip for my phone to start up.

That's weird. How are you applying the boot animation?

I use a root browser to copy the file to system/media then set the permissions back to rw-r-r. Should I be using another method?

No. That's right. Wondering why it would cause your phone not to boot.

Hey man I really appreciate the boot animation you put together so I made a flash able zip to make it a little easier especially when it comes to reflashing. Anyways can you make an AICP version?

Thank you. I can do that, just give me a few days and I'll add it to the OP for others to download.

Great! Thanks a lot. P.s if you want to make them all flashable just open the zip up and replace the bootanimation.zip in system/media with the one of your choosing.

Awesome will do. I'll update the post with flashable zips when I make the AICP.
Just a quick update. I haven't abandoned this thread. Work has just had me really busy as of late and haven't had time to work on things. With the long weekend coming up I'm hoping to work on this a little bit as well and provide an update.

How about making a guide so other people could make their own? That way you wouldn't have to dedicate so much time to this

Sorry for the absence from this thread. Since I've made this thread I've given my Robin to my son and I haven't been able to get it from him to play around with it. I may have some time this weekend to play around with it. Right now he is running stock firmware and I plan to update it to PA 7.3.1 as I don't want his phone running with out of date OS.
Hi guys i need that BIOS bootanimation file
