COMPLETE! debloat list for Droid Razr m - Droid RAZR M General

Hi All.
After a few days of hard work and a few times of (i don't remember how many) reflashing stock rom, i have made a complete list of safely disabled (remove or freeze its up to you) bloatware on my Droid Razr m KK lates OTA update. (Obviously this was made possible with the help of HYDROGEN PER OXIDE thanks to HYDROGEN & SERG_GANGUBAS). I have seen some other topics here on XDA about debloating M but i think those lists are incomplete. Also this is the first time i am creating a new thread on any forum so my apologies if something i did wrong. So here goes...

I have not disabled Playstore related apps and services because they are needed obviously. But you can delete them just in case. Plus, by deleting all these apps, i cannot use PIN or PASSWORD lock. Pattern is working fine and i haven't found the culprit yet. Everything else is working fine. I had almost 500mb free RAM after doing this(no apps installed through playstore yet).
Did i miss something? Please mention. Needless to say you can keep the apps that you want to use. Hopefully i helped...

**EDIT**
Don't disable VPN Dialogs if you use a VPN app. The app will not work i.e. it won't connect to the servers.

More Apps added in first post.

One more thing i would like to share with you guys from my experience, just in case someone finds it useful.
If you guys are deleting bloat for more storage space, then its fine. But if storage is not an issue and you're doing it for battery saving only, then i think keeping all the bloat and installing donate version of Greenify and Greenifying everything is far better option than deleting the apps because deleting the bloat causes the phone to lag and sometimes FC's. When i deleted all the bloatware, for sure i was having more free ram but i didn't notice a substantial gain in battery life. Now my phone is back in original state and i have greenified everything and now my battery gives me 1 hour more of SCREEN ON time. I am not sure if it will be the same for everyone. Just my 2 cents...

My personal list for Debloater. Aggressive )
Don't quite remember if it is suitable for 4.1.2, but 4.4.2 RAZR M / Luge for sure.

[TOOL/UTILITY][AROMA] SGN3 (SM-N900x) Bloat Removal Tool [VER2.0.1][2014-07-27]

Code:

* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this kernel
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
In an effort to learn how to correctly use Aroma, I decided to write a tool that will assist you in removing the suffocating amount of bloatware my beloved Note 3 is cursed with. It is nothing more than an Aroma script which will let you select what apps to remove, and then it removes them.
FEATURES
Removes 200+ apps considered to be bloatware.
Works with all variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900T, SM-N9005, etc.)
Can apply the screen rotation fix, if you uninstall Samsung Hub.
Clear Dalvik cache.
...And more!
REQUIREMENTS
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (duh?!?!)
Root
TWRP, CWM, or PhilZ Custom CWM installed.
A burning desire to strike down bloatware with the force of a thousand suns! Optional, but highly recommended!
NOTES
I strongly recommend you do a full backup before using this script.
After removing bloatware, clearing Dalvik cache would be a good idea, so they can be rebuilt at boot.
My device is a SM-N900T (T-Mobile SGN3), so obviously I can't determine what other apps another carrier has added. If you would like to list their names and filenames (including path), along with the carrier and I'd be happy to add them to the list. I have downloaded stock images from all of the different variants of the SGN3 and will determine what other apps are installed.
If I missed any apps that you would consider bloatware please let me know, and I'll add them as well!

Nice work, thanks. That said, I use Titanium to freeze things first, to see if any problems crop up or if I unexpectedly miss something.
Apps on the bloat list that I like:
- RakeIn: used by one of the pop-up pen functions. Maybe the screen capture/edit.
- Voice Recorder: a nice app
- S Health: nicely done and useful
- Samsung keyboard: one of the best
- Samsung video: solid, use it a lot (have to keep "Video Player" as well)
- T-Mobile My Account: useful for me anyway, with 5 lines
- S Note: I use this a lot. What is the pen really otherwise good for?

The list I've compiled are the apps that I personally remove as being bloat. You can select which apps to remove before beginning the removal process. That way you only remove the apps you want.
Good to have tool. It definitely save time, comparing to manually doing it with TB.
Thx.
I was thinking of going back to TW (I'm using SlimKat right now) but I was dreading having to deal with all the bloat. You just made up my mind.
Now do I want to go with stock TW or a ROM... hmm...

That was the very reason I wrote this script. While I love Samsung's phones, they load them up with far too much bloat, so I figured I'd try to help out!
downloading now. lovely. will be trying on my s5 port also. does it have assert script?
"Can apply the screen rotation fix, if you uninstall Samsung Hub." I always wondered what's Samsung Hub has to do with screen rotation? Good job.

it removes a lib when uninstalled via Titanium Backup required for rotation to occur.

If you're curious it removes /system/lib/libgnustl_shared.so, which evidently breaks screen rotation.

Samsung Hub shares a lib file with the system. When you uninstall Samsung Hub, it uninstalls this shared lib file. That lib file is also responsible for screen rotation

Well said!
I've found a couple of additional apps that I neglected to add, so I'll do that and drop version 1.1 sometime later today. Also I'm going to post threads on the different variants of the SGN3 to get the carrier-specific apps added to this besides just T-Mo. If you know of any, let me know. I think I'll start by downloading ROMs from those various variants.
EDIT
I'm going to dig a little deeper and see if I can find all of the files associated with an app, so there aren't any orphaned files after removal. Also going to add Google Apps for those that prefer their Android Google-less.
Okay, as promised (though a day late, oops!) here is version 1.1. I have added 3 more apps, and fixed a numbering error in updater-script. You can grab it HERE!
Enjoy!
For the next version I am rewriting this to have pages of apps instead of one long list, to keep things more organized. I have downloaded ROMs from all of the different variants to find carrier apps that can be removed.
I hope to release version 2.0 sometime this week.
Thank you just what Ive been looking for going to give it a try

I tried both V1.0 and V1.1. There is some scrolling problem, once you're close to bottom half. It can be difficult to select from the list, when it auto scroll all the way to bottom or top.
Great addition to my note 3. It has definitely helped me by saving a lot of manual time on titanium backup!

I think it has to do with one or two things (possibly both). The first being Aroma's screen calibration, and the other being the sheer number of apps in the list. That is part of the reason I am splitting them up. So far I have 3 pages for "stock" apps, one for each carrier variant (5, I believe), and then one for google apps.

[Q] Sideloaded FirePhone Google Maps (or other apps) not working correctly thread

Hi,
I was able to get Google Play on the unlocked $199 Amazon firephone without rooting. Also was able to get All google apps from play store and change the Launcher.
Only question is that Google maps labels are being overlapped (they are not refreshing) - Is this a known google map side load problem, or I just have a crappy version of the app with the wrong resolution?
Thanks,
( I have the steps to easily get Google play on the fire sale forum topic)
- As an employee of the maker, I will try to get the guys at Lab126 release some dev version that allows users to easily switch between Google experience and Amazon experience on this phone seamlessly - that would make it truly a good phone.
What happens when Google pushes an update to the store? Does this stop working?
The overlapping text appears to be caused by Google Maps not detecting the phone's resolution correctly. Can you try an older version of Google Maps?
Sorry if I'm not being helpful--I won't have my Fire Sale Phone yet until Tuesday.

Extremely old version worked fine (4.4) - Tried all the ICS and up version 8.0 through to current - all have the label problem. Could be Some GPU rendering issue with text (I worked for something similar at my last job) - the website maps look ok from chrome/etc. so it must be in the app - dunno if I should reverse engineer the APK to get the setting corrected - I filed a bug with google to see if it is a known problem with certain devices.
I am using google maps for search and then using nokia maps for navigation currently - so should not be a big problem for now.
If you can get devs to release a version that can toggle ON/OFF the AVD launcher that'd be awesome. It shouldn't take too much time to do.
Meanwhile I guess we'll just have to sideload apps
Overlapping text

Don't know if this is relevant because I am not a developer but if you go into settings/applications and parental control/manage applications, then click on google maps and then on clear data, when you go back into google maps there is no overlapping of text initially. After you start zooming out or moving around the map, the overlapping starts back up.
I've noticed that the maps, on first launch, looked fine.
My Gmail will sporadically sync emails. Sometimes, it's instant; other times, it won't try to sync at all.
Found simple workaround for Google Maps If you don't use the voice Navigation feature (needed for California in driving)-
(uninstall Google Maps - optional)
1) Install Chrome and allow it to use location
2) from google app search for address by your voice and get direction card (google now style)
3) tap card (will prompt you to open first time with native Nokia/Here or Chrome or Gmaps)
4) Use Chrome to see the map and you can set chrome as default
Chrome Google map application/page is mostly same functionality as the Jelly bean version of Google maps (Left menu has traffic, transit, bicycle & satellite) only terrain is missing. - You can also bookmark Google map in Chrome and get almost everything you need for directions in regular usage.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think I have narrowed down the app problem to the system fonts/antialiased fonts used by the stupid fire OS - without rooting I doubt you can change the system font of the phone. If somebody has developer mode -try enabling GPU rendering and see if anything stands out v/s other android devices - I will check on my wife's HTC One M8 later.

Yeah. The Gmail app has problems. It crahes periodically and doesn't want to auto sync. Also, i can't add a second Google account. It says that it can't communicate with Google servers and then gives a message about no network connection which is wrong.
I am on Thor Gapps Rom ( 13.3.2.4 ) rom and got the same issue too!
Google Earth works just fine - So there are 2 workarounds - Google Maps from Chrome and Google Earth
The Waze app also seems OK.
Upload to Fire OS 4.6.1 . the issue gets solved. You week receive an OTA update.

[LIST] Safe to freeze applications and services

**I heard a report that this list may cause a conflict with the 13B update, if anyone finds out what is causing issues with 13B let me know and I'll update the OP and list**
I thought I'd create a thread with a list of LG, Verizon, and misc apps and services that can be safely frozen without any side effects. As more people post with their own apps that were safe to freeze, I will update the OP.
A majority of these can be frozen without root by going to Settings > Application Manager > All > Select the app and click "Disable". However many have disable grayed out and require root and an app such as Titanium Backup to freeze.
Note: Please don't blindly freeze all of these applications, as some you may wish to use, while others have no use for them. This is purely a list of applications and services that can be frozen without FC and other system errors.

Keep in mind this is based on a collaboration of users, some may want to use these services while others don't need them, so please be caution when freezing applications and services. I would highly recommend freezing first and do not uninstall unless you are positive it is not needed. I already uninstalled many pre-loaded games and apps that I can't remember were included, once a few people post hopefully those titles will come back and I will add them to this list.

Idk what Verizon did this time around, but don't delete the Amazon apps (until I can find com processes). I had to re-kdz flash the Rom and re-root because I kept getting "com.Amazon.mp3" and other errors.

After I removed these, my phone failed to boot, so luckily I kept the rooted 11a image on my phone and flashed it in Download mode. I tried to boot up, but was welcomed to a black screen. Couldn't do anything about it, so I did factory reset. It booted, but I lost everything on my phone. I've been really hesitant about removing any LG* apps. I probably won't til we get recovery and I can make a backup to flash in twrp. That download mode prompt is so sketchy.
EDIT: I updated the list above. I have fully removed all Verizon apps(LGVZW ones don't count for now). They are prefixed with a "*" above and are not required to operate the phone at all. LG designed its interwoven overlay for Android without that crap in mind, so I expected it to work out, and history has shown it true for previous devices. Btw, full removal is not the same as freezing. Frozen apps can still start up. Just check a task manager, and you'll notice a few that won't die. All the ones I listed have been deleted and moved to a sdcard folder called .crap, ~850MB. Those gapps I removed aren't required to use a google account and play store. A lot can be added back through play store correctly as /data apps. The other ones prefixed with "Google" I just don't care for.
Also want to mention that the apps in /system/vendor/overlay should not be removed or frozen.

I removed all of the Amazon apps, (app store, mp3, etc.) and had no issues. I forgot to list that as I uninstalled all the Amazon crap.
@shbang I'll update my list to include yours shortly.
Well, I don't see those 3 apps said shouldn't be removed/frozen. I almost panicked before remembering I successfully rebooted several times yesterday. I'm looking in Titanium Backup to see what's frozen, BTW.

I think there is one called advance calling .
I just can't wait for a debloated rom, with all this crap removed .
I'm not super picky about getting everybit of performance, but I just don't know why verizon loves shooting themselves in the foot.
Updated the list with ~10 more apps that are safe to freeze.
It seems like freezing one or more of the 17 apps below causes delays with push retrieval of exchange email (or at least in apps like Mail Wise and Nine where you can disable server settings). I noticed notifications from test emails going from nearly immediate to absent unless I woke the phone or in some cases opened the mail apps. I am tired of testing this at least for now, (it seems to require a reboot between freeze/thaw to cause a change) so narrowing it down further will have to wait.

My /system is looking pretty gutted and clean. There are at about 10 apps I still want to try and remove, depending on if they do anything or not. I'm keeping about 20 I know I could remove but prefer to use them like LGCamera(I'll never delete this), Exchange, Calendar, etc. and the few gapps that are required to use google play. I use Nova and Hacker's Keyboard and ti89 app, so I removed the default home and IME(keyboard stuff) and calculator. All of the System Update and FOTA/OTA crap is gone. Everything else is blocked by AFWall, so there's no chance this phone is getting updated or is capable of updating. I'm pretty happy with the work I've done. Phone is still fully capable and very fast and battery efficient with the modifications I've done. The efficiency of my Lollipop 5.1 is approaching Jellybean 4.2/4.3 levels. Besides apps, I've also disabled a lot of services/deamons that run in the background and make your phone feel like garbage. I think I'll eventually share this stuff in an optimization thread.

Thanks for the list, I'll update the OP shortly.
I soft-bricked my phone attempting to remove some of the more serious Verizon system apps. Flashed a recovery kdz and re-rooted to find the true cause. In a slow process of removing 3-5 apps per reboot, I didn't even make it to the Verizon apps. Turns out removing all three Setup apps (LGSetupWizard 4.50.0, Setup Wizard 2.0, Setup Wizard 4.50.0) was enough to soft-brick it again. I am probably going to wait for a recovery before messing around and soft-bricking again.
EDIT:
Here's my list that took 4 re-flashes to get to. All of these apps were fully removed by Titanium Backup.

Can anyone list the files associated with wifi calling? I've taken the time to debloat some items from the lists provided but i think one or more of these files messed with the wifi calling. (i dont use it much, but id like the option to still be there). if anyone knows, can you post the apk and related files on here.
TIA

I've been freezing them. I'm not that tight on space and it is good to have them still there in case of.... Something. When a debloated Rom gets out, then I don't mind.
From my LG-G4, Rooted running Stock 5.1
Went through and froze the ones I wanted to... But one of those (I think) made my phone lose the ability to display battery percentage... Anybody know which one?

My LG G5 Disabled App List

Here are some screenshots of my disabled apps list.
So far I have been running with improved battery life and performance.
If you try this with your phone please let me know your results.
List of apps I uninstalled:
1. Android Pay (because it doesn't support my bank)
2. Chrome ( I use Firefox because I hate ads & tracking cookies)
3. Device Unlock
4. Docs
5. Google Play Movies & TV
6. Google Play Music
7. Google Play Newstand
8. Hangouts
9. Sheets
10. Slides
11. T-Mobile Name ID
Disable Steps (not sure if all of these make a difference but its been great for me so far)
1. Disable the apps on this list
2. Went into each individual app and cleared the data and cache for improved storage.
3. Force quit all apps still listed as running.
4. Reboot
I only have Calendar, Device Unlock, Gmail, Hangouts, Lookout, Music, and Name ID disabled. The other LG apps I uninstalled.
So you can disable stock calendar on tmobile version?
god I need to take a few minutes & go through & do this for mine. All of the LG stuff needs to go, but I have to admit I love Name ID & will wait to kill the unlock app till my 40 days is up & I unlock mine.
I despise the tmobile app. The iOS version is leaps and bounds better and actually useful.
How do you disable the apps?

Why freeze or uninstall device unlock?
I'm not in the US so I don't need a lot of the apps that came with this phone - the others I have disabled are apps I don't really want active on my phone or apps that I don't use...
I've disabled:
Android Pay (doesn't work where I am)
Chrome (I use Orfox or Firefox)
Cloud Print
com.facebook.appmanager (I don't have facebook)
Device Unlock (I bought the phone used and unlocked)
Email
Gmail (I use protonmail)
Google App
Google Play Movies & TV
Google Play Music
Hangouts
Lookout
Maps (I rarely use it. If I absolutely need to use it, I'll use the web version)
Mobile Hotspot
Photos
Quick Help
T-Mobile
T-Mobile Name ID
Voice Recorder
I've removed a lot of permissions on most of the apps that I still use with App Ops, and I have also disabled background data on 99% of these apps + I have installed DroFirewall (this seems to be the firewall that works best on this phone in my experience) to block internet access for all the apps that have no business going online.
I love this phone, and now that I have root I can finally use it as I want. (I used to have the F700K and was never able to root it so I ditched it and went for the H830 as root is a must have for me,)

OK,these are the apps / services that I deleted using this procedure. I based my selections off of Google searches that turned up lists for previous LG phones. I had to perform a full system reset after I made the mistake of deleting a contact sync. For now, the only one I have any concern over is the LG Setup Wizard, but so far, so good. Obviously, I'll update if I run into a problem caused by any of these missing.

Does anyone see something in my list that would be causing my AOD to stop working?
Realized the phone is going straight to black.
(Edit - turns out this was caused by removing LG Setup Wizard)
Hmm. I wonder if this could be used in reverse to inject super user disguised as a preloaded app?
Hi - is it safe to remove the Contacts app? And how do you go about hiding the Phone app? I'm using the stock Google dialler but obvs don't want to break the dialler if I can avoid it...

Do not remove the contacts app. I disabled it and, while the dialer continued to work (I am using the Google phone app as well), I could no longer view or modify my contacts. When I re-enabled the contacts app everything worked again. Just my experience...

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to say thanks for this! Been looking for a functional list for a while on what I can safely remove. I'm trying to avoid having to use a custom ROM and not be able to use the hifi DAC or camera.
Will try to do some testing/trial and error to update this for the newest VS99620g ROM, which is full of so much nonsense.

Removing LG Weather service will disable lockscreen weather animations.
I see other stuff on there like Caller ID that's very useful, unless that's something you don't use?
Just a general statement...
Not sure why people buy premium phones then want to remove most of the premium features? It's their phone, but I don't understand.
I'm only saying this because lots of people remove stuff willy nilly, then ask "Hey, why doesn't abc work?" Because of stuff they removed!
I'm not talking about things like the NFL app, obviously.
