Htc Desire Eye Partial Disassembly - HTC Desire Eye

Guys I just want to give you a hint in disassembling this device through images attached herein.
I think I don't need to elaborate much, just rely on the pic. ( And besides, Im not that good in english grammar lol)
This is for those users who badly need to open their device in case of non warranty.
Goodluck.

Thanks a lot!! I was wondering how hard would it be a battery replacement on this thing. Seems fairly easy (at least compared to One X). How hard was it to separate both parts?

I don't know how to explain but it's not that hard mate.it has double adhesive at the back but it is removable, just take care of it.

Thanks, I ****ed up my screen and repair will be 250-300 euros if I don't do it myself, so I needed this . I'll post some photo's when I have replaced the entire screen (both LCD and glass broken).

screen/digitizer
Anyone who has taken the phone apart know if the LCD and glass/digitizer are fused? I have a desire eye with cracked glass but an intact LCD and was wondering if I need to buy the entire assembly, or if I can get away with just the glass/digitizer. Appreciate any info in addition to what's already been posted. Thanks!

Could you make a short video of the steps you did in the pictures, or how you got the top and bottom parts off on the first picture?

It doesn't affect it as far as I know, couldn't find any "special seals" on it except for some double-sided tape.

Any chance on that video yet, or do you have a delivery date of your screen? I should get mine between today and the 4/5th of May. Will post own results or pictures, but would prefer a guide. Also does anyone have a video on atleast detaching the top and bottom parts (little top pannel and bottom pannel) of the Desire Eye?

I'm thinking of opening my Eye up because the back light has stopped working.
I don't understand why, it has just been sitting around for a month. Everything else works.
Maybe something came loose?

The only issue is I have already "tampered" with the device (S-Offed.)
I'm sure they would have that void the warranty.

Just relock it and flash stock firmware. And I dont think that voids the warranty for your screen, just for the software part.

guys i bought a desire eye.but the camera quality is not good as they mentioned.especially in the night.also battery life is not good.it is made in thaiwan..is it a original one or a copy?i need a good advice.
can't find the crop me in feature also..i didn't use a sim card yet..is that the problem?or what?i'm stuck with this now

Posting in an old thread but....
The glass on my Desire EYE is shattered, still works however. Doesn't look to hard to open up, watching that YouTube video.
Does anyone have a guide on replacing the whole display assembly? I can pick on up on eBay for about £75, and I'm comfortable doing it myself. I've also sent an email to HTC, asking if I'm eligible for their deal where they'll fix your cracked screen so long as you've owned the phone less than a year, and to ask them how much it would cost me for them to replace the screen.
At this point, it might just work out cheaper to buy a Moto G and a Otterbox case for it.
Thanks

looking to replace the AMOLED screen on my Vibrant

ok so I managed to crack the screen..nice big shatter mark under the screen and now the entire screen went black...insurance is a pain and from what I understand getting Asurion to replace my vibrant will be $130 and buying an AMOLED screen itself is cheaper.
The rest of the phone is still in working condition as before my screen went totally black after it broke some of it was still functional.
Any idea on where I can get the screen? I have not had luck on ebay as of yet, and was hoping someone here could recco a reputable vendor...

Wow wish I would had found this post sooner...
I dropped my vibrant from my and it was in the case.. it landed flat on the screen..glass did not break but AMOLED screen enploded.. I didnt know until i got to my car and tried to make a call. Crap...I dish out the $130.00 bucks ...bummed out about that..
oh man ...
Still great site and price. Thanks
Thanks I'll try cnn.cn. I see some decent reviews about them.
Is there a tutorial on how to replace this? Or would you have to get someone to do it?

I cracked my screen also. I found that site after I put in the claim. So I figured what the hell and started taking it apart, for next time.
It isn't easy! I'm pretty nerdy and good with my hands. Be very careful and very patient. There are small parts and wires that can very easily break.

Have you had any luck with this?I own an Orange San Francisco and cracked the amoled, unfortunately orange or any other site/company offers any repair AFAIK. I'm looking into repairing it myself, are amoled connectors compatible from one phone to another or are they manufacturer specific if you are aware of? I know this is a long shot but it doesn't hurt asking.

it would most likely have to be the same part
because the Galaxy S series are the only ones with that size AMOLED screen.
been there done that
i got a vibrant off of something awful for pretty cheap with a broken screen
first off you literally have to pry the screen off of the phone
and the bottom four buttons? there is a very thin ribbon cable that is glued to the screen
there are a few things youll need
1.really small screw driver (i got a glasses repair kit from the dollar store. worked great)
2.something to pry the screen off (used a screw driver from said kit)
3.balls. that ribbon cable is very very easy to break
first off you have to take apart the phone completely
i would even take off the one board that the screen connects to
then you need to pry off the screen very carefully
if your amold or whatever part is broken you're going to have to peel it off
it really sucks and makes you look like a bad 70s disco
after that it gets pretty simple
make sure you have something to hold the top and bottom part to the phone
mine isnt flush due to me being a jackass and not getting the right glue stuff to hold it down
after that it should work perfect like before
if anyone wants to trade me a new screen for the i9000 screen or buy me a screen (lol) i would make a very detailed video (not happy with the way the first attempt turned out)
post itt or pm me if you have any questions
So you are saying it should work, but what about the software part, won't there be any problems?

will the international galaxy s screen work for vibrant they hace same shape compared to captivate. And I9000s screen is cheaper than T959 screen (based on ebay price)

Still no instructions or even videos.
i sent mine off to HTC for a repair.. couldn't find any instructions online and didn't want to void the warranty already
in my bill they also replaced the battery free of charge, i can only assume this for some reason breaks the existing one.
i also read the lcd is attached to the glass (like the iphone 4), so unless you ordered a complete lcd and glass replacement i don't think it'll work...

Not easy, they use something akin to superglue to bond the LCD and digitizer for better viewing angles.

Do not buy digitizer without LCD
I bought a digitizer only because my screen glass had been cracked only. Apart from aesthetics the phone was working perfectly. I found a youtube video about "screen replacement". Shame on fellow american friend not explaining everything, leaving out the most important details.
The followings are based on my experience:
1. The sticker is very strong, if you heat it up, it is better.
2. The LCD and the digitizer is glued together so much that it is IMPOSSIBLE to separate them without cracking the LCD. So now I need to order a complete LCD-digitizer set as well...
3. While you have taken it apart, you can sort out the wifi antenna connections as well.

N7000 Replenishment Screen

Hello guys,
10 minutes ago my galaxy note N7000 screen cracked in my pocket.
So I need to buy a replenishment screen from Samsung but I simply can't find stores that supplies replenishment parts for it. Do anyone knows where to buy a new Amoled LCD screen for galaxy note ?
Thank you and best regards,
Amid
ebay, took 5 days to ship from HK to NYC. Follow youtube guide in opening the note and use blow dryer/heat gun to loosen the sceen, wedge open with something sharp and slowly tear back the screen gently. You will need the old Wacom sensor from the broken screen so becareful to not to rip it. There is guide in the general section. I broke mine 2 weeks ago and replaced it in a hour. take your time you can get it done.
Thanks man. Just to be sure, the price is about US$ 230,00 for it ? i am not sure if I am looking for the right spare part.

I think this is what you are looking for:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/S-Black-Dig...087?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c65951cd7
I can try but I don´t think this will help the problem. The screen doesn´t show any images anymore, looks like a broken LCD. When you press it, a lot colors appears around it. Do you believe this is the one I need ?
Thank you and best regards

Hmmm no, in that case you will need the 200ish one.
You will need the entire setup, glass, LCD, and Touch. Does not come with Wacom sensor. Looking around you can get them for 230-260. Look for delivery, that makes a huge difference, especially with your phone out of commission.
This is the guy I purchased mine from, but I panic and purchase the first one I saw. If you do some research you will find cheaper, but I got min in 5 days. So I am glad this guy came thru. Good luck, its going to stress you out a bit when you have to remove the screen from the front panel, they are glued on so take your time. Looks like your LCD broke so it is going to crack and shatter further so make sure you do it in area where it is easy to clean. If you look at the front panel after you remove it, you will see one wire that does not come with the replacement one, that is for the wacom sensor, so be careful and don't damage that part, you will need to peel it off and place it back on to the replacement lcd, otherwise your s-pen won't work. It's been 2 weeks, my phone is going strong and no sensor or sceen issues. You should get a more protective case, since you probably already blew close to ~$1000 on this phone by now. I have a casemate, otterbox commuter looks like a good one. Once again good luck, you can do this.
Please stop advising people to do something that is not meant to be done and can possibly damage their phone even more. And most likely look completely rubbish when assembled.
The correct repair part is a complete display assembly including everything - the glass, digitizer, Wacom digitizer, AMOLED, bezel, frame abd home button. It costs around 260 dollars on eBay and is relatively simple to install. By installing the complete assembly you don't need to worry about separating the glass and AMOLED or about the Wacom digitizer, since they are all included. Just remove the screws, back housing and motherboard, disassemble the audio flex cable and front camera flex from the old display and put them into the new one. Most displays also require the old charger port flex and speaker module to be used.
The correct part looks like this, for example: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=320843198847
Well mine looks brand new, must be the workmanship ;-P But why flame my advise when he is going to need to do it anyways, the screen is completely useless, as was mine. Why don't you keep your assumption to yourself in how it will look or if he is going to ruin the device. If he decides that he would rather live with a crack screen or someone who is willing to do it, there really isn't much options here. What's up with such negative attitude here. Just trying to show him that it can be done.

Replacement screen with 2 connectors
Hello!
First of all I would like to say Thank you for all the resources provided in this forums!
Could someone please help me to find a replacement screen for the International version of the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with 2 connectors? This phone has the physical home button. All the replacements that I've been able to find have just the first connector. I tried to post a photo hoping to help better explain it, but I can't do it yet.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

U just need to watch a lot of youtube videos on this and be careful/delicate with the procedure... its possible.
So i dont think what he said was a waste.. Pls keep such remarks to yourself.. He was not wasting anyones time.

Hi, i've changed my screen 2 months ago, and i can tell you that is better that you buy the screen with the digitalizer and the frame. All the kit, then search some video on youtube about disassembly and in 1 hour you will have your phone running again, it's easier than seems, you'll sure for that.

Yep ok so yes the best way is to replace both digitizer and lcd at the same time, after applying a small amount of pressure to stick the 2 together i put a small crack into the lcd (ggggrrrrrr) ( literally the smallest amount of pressure) so that was really good advice there.
I will be purchasing a new lcd as i do enjoy this phone..
many thanks for the offer of buying it. yes the micro usb works fine, if it appears that i am unable to fix it i will be more than happy to sell it......
Bottom Line Replace both Digitizer and lcd and even housing if poss at the same time....
thanks for your advice and suggestions.

Replacement digitizer/LCD and housing

Hi all, apologies if this has been covered, I did a search but didn't find anything.
I have an HTC one with a cracked digitizer and I am planning on trying to fix it myself (I like a challenge!)
However, I am struggling with which parts to buy. I live in UK and all of the sellers on eBay seem to be on Hong Kong or China and the parts do not seem to be OEM. I am concerned about the quality of non-OEM parts.
Does anyone know of some genuine sellers in the UK/Europe? If you know of somewhere better in the US then I'm happy to pay postage as long as it's genuine.
Also, there are a lot of listings for digitizer only - I cannot find any recorded method of removing the digitizer from the LCD so I assume I should stay clear of them?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Find a HTC Carepoint. They have them but i don't know if they sel them. A repair ad mine shop wil cost you €240,-
@stumark man that's gonna be a tough thing to find. In order to get original parts your either going to have to get it to a HTC repair shop or buy an m7 for parts and rip of the front housing. I just bought the full housing so I can change mine from silver to black but I have not seen any official screens. I can give you the links to some I found in the US if you want tho.

I assumed that I would need to buy the full housing but I cannot find one that seems genuine. So if you have found some that you know are genuine then some links would be great, thanks

I'm interested in doing the same- changing from silver to black. I'm curious how did it go, did you manage to swap the casing/display without damaging it? I saw some vids on YouTube about it.. looks pretty messy..
I bought my housing from this guy http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Si...er_Cell_Phone_Accessories&hash=item51b4c6527e
U think it only can be original if it comes from us or uk? where do you think this is made?

I'd recommend etradesupply.com also. Bought iPhone replacement digitizer there and it worked awesome.
Hi,
I have a htc m7 with a cracked digitizer and I want to repair it.
I know that the best is to change the digitizer and the screen together(like this one for example), but I saw this video and others to replace the digitizer only and it seems easy.
Did anyone already tried to replace the glass?
I thought it was needed to unglue the screen from the glass and glue it again, but I didn't found much information about this.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Diogo

Yes, i did it my self and if you going to replace the lcd you shouldn't be worry much :victory:
my recommendation it to remove the SIM stick first then, start to insert the tool between the upper lip of the SIM port and the Black lcd frame :good:
then start to pop out the lcd from the the back cover BY moving the tool around the phone.
the bottom speaker grill can be removed easily, but the upper one has a screw from inside from the left side only.
you will find some youtube video, but my recomendation to start from the upper lip of the SIM port

I think you should remove the sim slot first. I messed up mine trying to take out the back case and also messed up the volume up button. [emoji35]

I mentioned to start from the sim side not the volume side.
