[Q] Phone will not start up properly after newest update - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I installed the newest update for my m8 (Lollipop I believe) and it was on the screen where it was "optimizing apps". Right after my phone started up but instead of showing my lockscreen it shows a blank whitescreen with a message box stating 'NetworkSystemProvider has stopped working would you...." No matter how many times I hit send or don't send another message always appears with a different app but always stating that it has stopped unexpectedly. I should mention that my phone is still on factory settings. I have messed with my phone is changing wallpapers. Sorry if left important info out this is my first post any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Boot to hboot, enter recovery. (Press & hold power & volume up buttons until the screen goes dark, quickly release both bottons and press & hold volume down button)
When you have that red triangle, press & hold volume up and tap power button once.
Select factory reset/wipe data then reboot.... see how it goes

boot to recovery, that's where it will take you
I'm seriously not trying to be a ****, but that's pretty useless information. Obviously a factory reset will remove the pattern or password, along with everything else. That would be a last-ditch option... when everything else fails, this will, without a doubt work. Also, to boot into recovery just hold power + volume up. No need to hold the home button, stand on your head, and do a split while singing Hotel California just to enter recovery.
Just FYI, by typing "remove pattern unlock android site:forum.xda-developers.com" in Google, it pulls up many various techniques of doing the same thing WITHOUT losing data.

My technique to boot into recovery / download mode:
1. Start with device all the way off.
2. Press and hold the volume down or volume up button as desired.
3. THEN Press and hold the power button until the system begins showing signs of life. Samsung logo or whatever. Release power button but keep holding volume button without fail.
4. When you get to recovery or download mode, release volume key.
If that doesn't work, consider you may have a button hardware failure or some serious other fault.
I used to have lots of trouble getting into recovery or download mode, because I tried to press power and volume keys at same time. That resulted in sporadic operation. Doing it as I describe above, starting with volume key, works every time.

You don't need to hold volume up/down before pressing power, but it doesn't hurt. You can hold the power button until the device vibrates and let off. As soon as you feel the vibration, you can then switch to holding volume up until you see the blue text in the upper-left hand corner that says "Recovery booting." Once you see that blue text you can release the volume key and you will enter recovery mode every single time. Same way with download mode. Basically, as long as you're holding whichever volume button you want when the Galaxy S4 splash screen pops up, you will enter the corresponding mode. Also, there is no real need to start from the device being powered off completely. You can actually use your basic power menu (or advanced, depending on the ROM) and select Reboot/Restart and then hold the correct volume key when the screen powers off; although with an advanced power menu the option to boot to either is obviously both there and foolproof
I have never understood why people make entering download/recovery mode a lot more complicated than it actually is... I've never had trouble getting into download or recovery mode because it's not hard at all.

Or flash CWM, pull the /data/system/gesture.key file and open it with Revskills > Cryptoanalysis > Bruteforce android pattern lock (for pattern) - pull /data/system/password.key and /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db and open them with Revskills > Cryptoanalysis > Bruteforce android passcode
You will just need to find a Revskills.zip with key latest version is 2.08.6
can u elaborate on this
When you can't boot into recovery you can wipe your phone with the computer using ODIN
If the person can boot the phone into recovery and perform a factory wipe, Odin is not required.

internal format problems-SOLVED

So i formatted my internal storage before a fresh install, which has sent my phone into a bootloop. I've pulled my battery and manually tried to boot into twrp and the blue "TWRP" screen comes up for about 3 seconds and then i'm back to bootlooping. I have the mjb bootloader or I would odin back to stock. download mode does work, and i tried to reflash my recovery which did pass via odin, but I get the same results. Any help would be great

THIS TRIC'LL DO IT, BUDDY..... SUGGEST NEXT TIME YOUSTAY CLEAR OF THE HIDDEN MENU THOUGH!!! UNFORTUNATELY YOU'LL LOSE ALL OF YOUR DATA..NO JUMPING THIS.
1. Start your phone up by holding onto both the power button and the buttom volume key. When the logo pops up, let go for a second, and hold onto both buttons again. This should bring up the option to reset your phone. Agree to both prompts.
2. You should be on a new screen. It may warn you not to touch the screen because it is calibrating or testing it. You will have to press OK, and then give it a few seconds to do that bit.
3. The screen should have a list of options at this point (some of which say "+power) on them. If you want to use any of these options, you need to hold the power button, and then press that option on the screen. Press "normal boot (+power)" (don't forget to hold the power button at the same time). This should put your phone back to normal, and set it up again just like it came out of the box.
ENJOY YOUR PHONE BACK

Tried flashing Viper and now can't get to fastboot menu!

I tried flashing ViperOneM8 1.8.0 (ViperOneM8 1.7.1 -> 1.8.0) which I guess was the wrong thing (I think that was an update, should have started with 1.7.1 first). Anyway... Now my M8 boots to some type of android base OS without a lot of things...
1) It's not possible to get to settings as there is no settings app in the app drawer.
2) There is no title bar/task bar at the top. The area that holds the time, and a few icons at the top is gone.
3) There is no background.
4) There is no way to get on the WiFi do to #1 and because of this I can not add my google account. That in turn means no google play store access.
But the BIGGEST thing of all... I CAN NOT BOOT TO FASTBOOT!!!
- Power the device off.
- Hold the volume down button (also tried the volume up button) + press power usually boots strait to fastboot mode.
I THINK it has something to do with the fact that by default in the settings I need to untick the fastboot option in the dev options.. Well I can't get to settings. Now what?

Shut down phone.
Turn it on
Hold volume up+power button until it restarts
As soon as you get the black screen for restart release power button and hold volume down.
If your timing is right you will enter bootloader.
I tried it and it definitely works
Flash your nandroid or any rom you know was ok to begin with and you are up and running!!!

Tried that...
1) Powered off device.
2) Held power button for about 2 seconds until it came on then let go.
3) IMMEDIATELY I pressed and held down the power and volume up buttons.
4) The phone continues to boot up a little bit longer and gets to the verizon check (verizon splash screen) then shortly after goes black (as expected).
5) IMMEDIATELY let go of power button continuing to hold volume up button.
... .. .. .
6) I get the white screen that says HTC (powered by android)... NOT a bootloader screen as expected.
Update... When I try to click on the app drawer then top right click the little three dots, I try and "Manage Apps" ... ERROR "App isn't installed"...
:/

If you connect the phone to the computer, can you get fastboot or adb to recognize the phone?
If so, you can try adb reboot bootloader command or fastboot reboot bootloader comand

1) While device is powered on, Press and hold Volume Up + Power until device reboots.
2) When it starts to reboot continue holding the Power button and change to the Volume Down.
That worked for me.

com.android.phone stopped and iu syst stopped

hi guys.
i made a small mistake while chekcing some apk with jumobile system app remover and remove by mistake two apk called emergencyprovider and logprovider. SInce then I have messages like the following: com.android.phone stopped or iu syst stopped. I can unlock the tab but can't access the launcher.
i have backups of these apk, and was thinking maybe to restore them using TWRP file manager. WOuld you know where I should put these two files?
I use a galaxy tab s10.5, with stock lollipop 5.0, rooted.
Thanks
See if you can boot in safe mode.
Once the phone is off, press and hold the power button to turn the phone on, and as soon as the "Samsung" logo pops on screen, release the power button and then press and hold the*volume down*button until the phone boots up completely.

Hello.
It didn't work. Wiping cache or dalvik didn't work either. I'm afraid i'll have to make a clean install. Thank you for your help.
