[Q] Changing ls990 to d852? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to change the radio/ modem to work on the d852 firmware?
or possibly flashing the 852 stock firmware onto the ls990?
will this work or will there be a conflict with hardware

I'm not 100% sure but I think they use the same modem. That being said, I wouldn't attempt it without a good backup. Also, I'd start with the modem only, wouldn't suggest trying the ROM right away.
It's definitely not something I recommend unless you really know what you're doing. I don't think it has been tested yet and we're just getting stable network having the right modem for specific carrier so there are chances that it simply won't work.
If you do venture into flashing the ROM, you'll have to change your APNs and device code name everywhere in the ROM (unless you want it to think it's a D852). Same goes for the flashing zip.

Well i have a d852 and it works fine on the fido network. But i got the sprint one and it worked fine before but after i flashed the stock rom i havent been able to get data on it . first my imei number was wrong and i fixed that. But still the same problem. I have the correct apns so im thinking maybe if i flash it to 852, it'll think its a canadian phone and not have a problem. Let me know what you think. Unless i currently have the wrong modem installed.
Also where do i find modems i searched for it but couldnt find it.
Ill post the link to my error

Wait isn't sprint with bell? Or that's fido? Cause if so, you'd have to flash the bell modem.

Derp. Sprint is in US..
I don't think it's gonna work now that I think about it. You can still try but wouldn't have my hopes up.
I don't know what hardware Sprint g3 uses, if it's any different. And if it is, the Canadian firmware won't work.

Nope. Downloading that right now actually. The only issue I'm having is that it's not recognizing the baseband.

Yeah. I'm pretty much stuck at this point. I have a custom recovery installed, root and on an international rom but I cannot get cell service. Wifi works, but that's about it.
I believe it has to do with the isis security.
Was thinking about going to TMO and getting a non-isis sim card to try.

If anyone can help out with getting a flashable radio for this it'd be greatly appreciated. I've looked around on how to extract the radio from the current version with no luck.
As far as the ROM, a user linked one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33242968&postcount=67
I've restored that through custom recovery/nandroid and it works fine. But without the radio... I'm lost.
I get a MD5 mismatch when I try to restore it with nandroid.
Downloaded it twice. anyone else had luck?

Had the same thing. Best bet is to go into the md5 file with a text editor and just delete everything and save the file. Recopy the md5 file over and reflash. Not sure why it was causing this error because I even re-ran the md5's myself and they were the same.
Also, just got off the phone with Samsung, they pretty much said the phone is not in their system yet and they do not have access to the firmware at this point. Their suggestion was to go back to t-mobile and get an exchange unit.
I will try that..
I called Samsung last night and they gave me the same run around.

You should find a store with one on the shelf, and not much supervision... and root it/extract a nand image hehehe. Though that would mean you would have be able to do all that and I have no idea how to extract a baseband image that is the power of the xda dev gods!
How hard is it to extract a baseband image?
Could someone that has one do it easily?

It was (and still is) posted on the N7100 dev forum. It's the T-Mobile boot.img in tar format. Read through the thread for more info.
That is for people that messed up the rooting.
I flashed a full ITL rom that had the modem in it.
All I need is the modem and I am good to go.

Oh so wait. You're using a T-Mobile Note 2 and managed to flash an international ROM with everything working and functional (except for signal/sms/data/call) ? No reboots?
I ask because I've been wanting to somehow "convert" my T-Mobile Note 2 to an international Note 2 (as in, be able to flash the updates the international version gets instead of waiting on T-Mobile). I'm not US based so I don't need it to work with T-Mobile SIM anyhow...

[Q] SGH-I737M - modem issues

Hi all,
I have a Bell Canada Samsung Galaxy S3 that I can't get the modem to work on. I have Philz recovery on it and have tried a few modem files but neither the wireless or the mobile carrier works.
I have tried putting cyanogenmod on it but am back on a stock ROM at this point. I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do.
The phone boots fine, looks all normal but I just can't get on the mobile network(tried multiple SIM's).
I am really hoping you can help!
Does your phone display the correct imei when you dial *#06#??
It does, it shows my IMEI with a /5 at the end.
At this point, I am running I747MVLUEMK5_I747MOYCEMK5_BMC
I also do show cellular signal but can't seem to connect. When I scan wireless networks, I pick nothing up.
Any ideas?
Thanks again!

You've had the phone for a while so I didn't think it would be blacklisted.
Since you have the 4.3 bootloader, you need to have a compatible modem and, from my experience, only the mk5 modem will work.
Did you use Odin to flash back to stock?
Yes, that is how I put the current stock firmware on it. I had cyanogenmod on it at one point...

[Q] Stock Firmware

Hello everyone i am in a peculiar situation i recently got s3 from my friend he said that it is I9300 but when i received it i came to know that it is T999 and not I9300 . My problem here is it came with android version 4.1.1 build number : I9300ZSEMC1 i didn't understand why it came with i9300 firmware ( i cannot ask my friend as he does not have much technical knowledge ) everything is working fine occasionally touch does not respond and i have bit of hard time switching on wi fi and weird battery drain problems what i want to know is , is these because of the i9300 firmware being present in t999 and whether is it advisable to update it further from 4.1.1 version to t999 latest stock firmware or to stick with the present version . If it is advisable to update to t999 based stock firmware i want to know whether it will work in indian carriers and wont have any problems and also can someone guide me for the right firmware link / build number to go with. :fingers-crossed:
I didn't know the firmware would actually flash across models.

Isn't the I9300 the 1gbp ram version?
Anyway, if certified in download mode you could just flash t999 firmware.
If that doesn't sound safe you can also put a t999 recovery on it and try doing a backup and installing a t999 rom

Sounds kinda like some of the "frankenphones" we've heard about over the last several months. Or it could also be a fake/chinese knock off. If I were you, I would see if there were any way to send it back to whoever sold it. If you plan to keep it though, understand anything you do is AT YOUR OWN RISK! The only absolutely safe course of action is to do nothing to it. If you try to flash it via Odin, and it allows it to flash, but you chose the wrong firmware, it WILL brick. There is honestly no possible way to know for sure what is up with the device.
If I had to guess, something is lying to you about what you are running. If your current firmware version is from an I9300, then that is most likely what you have. That firmware WILL NOT work on any Qualcomm, US model S3's. This tells me that its probably an I9300, and someone screwed with something, (or was careless when trying to copy Samsung), in the bootloader. Because it tells you it is a T999 in download mode, it will probably not let you flash the I9300 firmware. But if you try to flash the T999 firmware, there is a very good possibility you will brick it.
It is up to you what you want to try, but understand you are taking a bigger than normal risk since you already know the device isnt normal to begin with.
One way you can try to determine what motherboard it uses, (though this is by no means a for certain way to know), is go to the SIM unlock thread in General and try to follow those instructions. Also try the GPS fix thread in the Q&A sticky roll up. If I am not mistaken, both use dialer codes that are specific to Qualcomm devices. If they work, its a better chance of it being a T999. If they do not work, its more likely to be an I9300.

[Q] Flashing International Roms

As the title states....
When I had a Galaxy S4 we were able to cross flash ROMs (e.g. use an AT&T ROM on a T-Mobile device). The ONLY stipulation was that you needed to flash a T-Mobile KERNEL after the ROM flashed or the phone wouldn't work. Would this be the same concept for us with the G3? I don't see any kernels at the moment so I'm assuming it's a "no-no" to flash one of the other ROMs but once we start getting custom kernels I'm assuming we're good to go.
Would this be correct?
Not sure with the G3 but make sure the first thing you do is back up your efs. I messed up my G2 flashing a International Rom.

I think we are specifically talking about the LG3 since its by a complete different manufacture and a complete different phones.
Note 3 can also flash international but it get wifi issues, nfc issues, and the fact that it wipes your whole phone.
I'm new to the LG scene as well...so ya, as one mention above they messed up their phone doing so with the LG g2

it is the same as any other phone. the wifi and connectivity issues come down to be a radio/baseband related. you need to flash the correct baseband from tmo to have everything working
yea just flash the correct baseband and call it a day
If you want to flash international ROM just for language you want, you may look at which language T-Mobile version has first.

Dont know what stock Firmware my phone needs

Good Morning,
So this is the story, I was suddenly having issues with Cell service people were not hearing me I felt like I had to reset the phone and wipe it all so I thought I might as well ROOT it when it came to downloading the firmware I was a bit lost did not know what was the correct one was i threw out the box,
I flashed one but still have this cell issue I feel like its not using all the bands... I have Tmobile and I do not know if the issue is I am flashing wrong firmware.
So 2 questions
how would I know if I am flashing the correct firmware?
And how would I know if that is my issue ?
Please Someone Advise.

I would test another carrier first, or the same carrier in another area. Also test with different people in different areas. This is most often an issue on the carrier side, not the device.
So my advice: make sure your issue is the device. Only after that we can talk about flashing another ROM.
Thanks @arsradu for your quick reply Its definitely not the carrier I just am not sure what the problem is, I was thinking each firmware has its own optimizations for the bands it should use,
I bought it on amazon USA
And currently flashed
TROIKA_RETAIL_10_QSBS30.62-17-13_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
I tried using LMSA to restore my phone to factory settings and it gives me an error I wish I can just go back to stock clean.

Assuming you bought a US model, which works on all major carriers, your version should be RETUS.
With the bat file that was provided here in the forum, you should be able to fast boot flash it.

It can be the ROM, as well. In my experience though it’s usually not the case.
Anyway, what’s your device model? Is it xt2013-4? Did you make a backup of your original ROM so you can restore it later on?
Also, what is the error you get when trying to use LMSA to restore?
Yes my model number is xt2013-4 no i did not make a backup I uploaded a screenshot of the error message. and I guess I will try reatilUS I tried the simple retail option the last one not sure what retail and retail us differences are,

RETUS with the above linked bat has worked fine for a XT2013-04 I have worked with, I assume it would with yours too :good:
I cannot speak to the assistant error though, never used it...
Side note: don't forget to add the code line for the 10th chunks to the bat.
