Anime APP - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is anyone using an anime app that is compatible with the fire tv? If so which one(s)? I tried side loading the Animefreak app from their website, however the fire TV remote doesn't allow me to select any videos.
Thanks!

There's an anime app on the Fire TV app store called Manga that's pretty good. You can also try Crunchyroll that can either downloaded directly from the Google Play Store, if you have it installed. Or you can download the apk from somewhere and sideload it. Netflix also has some good animes on it like Naruto Shippuden, a Bleach movie, and some other stuff.

In some of the anime app cost to watch the anime series is much more but 9anime is much better with free one to watch.

I made an account just to tell this since I think you'd be very happy with this.
Just sideload this app: https://github.com/XenTeckzX/FireAnime

WatchESPN App

Is it possible to get a backup of the WatchESPN app? I've gone through the System Dump and don't see any of the streaming apps. I'd like to sideload it onto a Vizio Co-Star to see if it will work.
it's already in the amazon app store for free
or you can always try something like: http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/?id=air.WatchESPN
I've tried that version of the app but it needs to launch in Portrait mode (even on a tablet where it is being used in landscape mode). This causes it to crash on a TV that doesn't support Portrait mode. I'm guessing that the app on the Fire TV is different.
Yes please could some one skilled in these matters post the fire watch espn apk for us forgotten gtv users?

here ya go, pulled from my fire tv http://d-h.st/lEF
I couldn't get it to work when I tried earlier. Amazon authenticates your cable provider with a code that doesn't show up on non Fire TV devices.

It doesn't even work on my fire TV.. I get a loading circle forever in the middle of the screen when trying to view the live stuff.
This version only offers 8 or 9 providers. I, for example, can login and use the regular android app.... But my cable provider isn't offered in the fire TV version.
Thanks for posting it. I tried it out but it couldn't install on the Co-Star. It said there was a problem parsing the package.
I was able to install on LG Google TV, was able to login to my provider Comcast, but when I try to play the video, "it loads, shows an error popop" and goes back to ESPN app screen. Looks like there is some other pre-requisite to play the watch espn app on Google TV.

that's cause co-star doesn't run jellybean or above.

How do you sideload codecs and licenses?

Hey guys, I've sideloaded Bubbleupnp on the Fire TV, and I also have it on the smartphone to use as server for my media on my phone. If I want to stream more than 30 minutes, I need the premium feature. My question is, which Bubbleupnp needs to be the premium version? The renderer on the Fire TV, or the server on the smartphone? If the app on the Fire TV has to be premium, then how does this work if there is no Play Store? How do you sideload a license? I sideloaded Play Store, but as you may already know, it doesn't launch.
Also, I've sideloaded MX Player, it seems to work fine. But if I wanted to install a codec, how do you sideload that?

[Q] Why is the FTV version of Netflix so bad?

What's up with Netflix on the FTV? I can't select genres, new releases, etc. Did Amazon put a dumbed-down version on FTV to drive users to Prime? Is there any way to put a different version of Netflix on FTV?

You can sideload the standard app from the play store.. but imho the one inluded is superior in that it delivers HD video (i have even got some 1080p movies recently) and DD5.1 sound which no other android app does.

Exactly.. It does full hd videos at 5800kbps & 5.1 sound. Other android Netflix apps won't be able to do it (not to my knowledge at least). Also, its the same version which goes on other media players & blu-ray players.
I personally like Roku 3 Netflix interface better, looks very polished IMHO but it lacks few features which this one has like Play from beginning
The app on FTV is the same interface as on my Sony Bravia TV.

Does Netflix stream in HD on the Fire HD and HDX?
The version on my Kindle Fires have genres listed in a menu, so I guess I'll just have to navigate with my HDX first.
The Netflix interface on my Vizio TV has a menu listing my queue, New Releases, Newly Added, Genres and Search.

[Q] Install kodi and other android apps without root?

Thinking about getting a fire tv stick, as I run kodi currently on my phone and cast to my tv using Chromecast...generally works great except for live football streams which seem to come in don't propriety format flash style which prevent me from casting those..I can mirror my screen easily but I list some quality and it's not ideal...could I install kodi on a fire tv stick as is and have it stream directly to that? That's my main need from any new device I purchase
Thanks for advice!

There's a tool to work with your Fire TV stick, just three threads under your thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2736774

You don't need root to install "normal" apps.
What's especially slick (I guess from a recent firmware update) is that if you sideload an app to a FireTV that is actually available in the general Amazon App Store (worked for me with Kodi, SPMC and Crunchyroll), then install the same app through the Amazon App Store on an Android device connected to the same Amazon account as the FireTV, after your account syncs up the FireTV is tricked into showing the app on the FireTV Recent row on the home page.
FYI, I've had the Stick for about 2 weeks: for $40 it's awesome. I've seen some people state that SPMC works better than Kodi, but I haven't noticed any difference yet. No issues with live streams in Sportsdevil or Vdubt25.

How do you stream kodi to your chromecast? I've tried multiple different ways and none work.
Im sure you can screen cast your screen to CC and then whatevers on your phone will come up on your tv. thats how I used it on my note 4

Youtube Alternatives

So I'm having extreme frustrations with the native Youtube app for my Fire TV Stick. It's often slow, randomly crashes, CONSTANTLY lags without fail, and I can't even use the Amazon Fire TV Android app to type to search. It's just not an overall well done app for the Stick at least. I can't speak about the Fire TV Box, which I might purchase due to some sluggishness with the Stick (i.e. Youtube, Kodi, etc) So, I've tried other alternatives on the Amazon Appstore. Namely OneTube. It works decently, but it doesn't look too pretty, is difficult to find things when I don't know what I want to watch, and no Cast/pair support.
The older Youtube for Google TV works well, but unfortunately, when using the remote, I can't click the search box to search anything lol.
I've used the Youtube for Android TV 1.0.5.5 app(sideloaded) and, minus the regular complaints about the app itself, runs great! No lag, videos work fine, and I can type to search with the Amazon Fire TV app on my phone. Downside is that I can't seem to find a pair device setting in the app itself :/ Now maybe I need to sideload google play services in order to get it to show up? I'm not sure, but I thought that was only necessary if you wanted to sign into your YouTube account.
So my question is are there any alternate YouTube players that work well, or is there a way to pair my device with the new Youtube for Android TV app?
The kodi YouTube app works very well and you could use yatse to cast videos to it.
