data cable root - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Hi experts
Just bought used note 3. It didn't come with original Samsung data cable.
Can I use micro USB data Cable to root this phone ?
Thanks

Yes. The larger cable is primarily for faster data transfers.

But can other micro USB cab work rooting this note 3

- support PS3 controller
also if anyone has more tips and tricks for this OTG cable, kindly post it. so thrilled to enjoy its benefits.
I heard also Xbox 360 wired remotes work as well
I have a chinese non-oem OTG cable and works fine with pretty much every USB devide I have (usb memories, keyboard, mouse). I havent tried game remotes or a printer.
Not as amazing as the adapter Samsung will be releasing whenever they can be bothered because it will use the full 11 pins and allow MHL and other accessories simultaneously, but like always they take so long releasing accessories people just get pissed off while they waiting.
Yes Micheal 100% acceptable. only advantage for OTG cable was they launched long back after few months from Galaxy SII. But same cable we are using it for Galaxy Note and Galaxy SIII. But we are really worried for Flip Cover launch for SIII. it took nearly 2 weeks time from SIII mobile launch.
There are plenty of local manufacturers releasing case and covers and even OTG cable. only this guy has the original samsung OTG cable in India shopsection.com/item/USB_Host_OTG_Cable_for_Samsung_Galaxy_S_3 for sale with offer price.

You need MHL cable to connect HDMI to Tv and you can't connect over Mass Storage mode to Tv, Car etc because Samsung in their wisdom decided not to include it, and I know iPhone has things like blood pressure and heart rate monitors you can connect but never heard of it on Android, but it's possible to create a driver to connect pretty much anything with a USB port to Android.
Bought this otg cable for cheaper rate in local market, it worked for 2 months but i could not connect my Sony Pendrive 8GB. any application needed to upgrade on my Note to support 8gb? can your post me the link whr u purchased samsung otg cable, how long u hv been using it? is that original with warranty?

The first thing that you need to check is how your thumb drive is formatted. I haven't tried a thumb drive on my SIII yet but on Atrixs I've evaluated they could only interface with FAT thumb drives. NTFS wouldn't work. You should also try a different model of thumb drive, I don't know about the power requirements but it might just be too high.
USB On The Go cable awareness not upto the level. Samsung must advertise about their accessories too as like Nokia. OTG cable is really useful to access files instant. but i wonder why its only suitable for very few models and since Galaxy Y is also has update android firmware.
anybody tried OTG cable other than S III?

I think the external hard drives will only work if you use a usb port multiplier with a external power source. Dont quote me on that though!

I have actually try plugin my external hard drive with 2 headed USB cable, one connects to the USB OTG cable, one end connects to a USB port for power, and it still doesn't work.
It would be nice if it would work though.

[Q] Note 1 OTG cable work on Note 2?

Just recently bought a Note 2 (GT-N7100 international version), and it's marvelous.
I just spent an hour searching this forum and can't find anything that addresses my question. It may be buried in here but never came up in my searches.
I have a bunch of OTG cables that I used with my Note 1 to read flash drives. When I plug in one of those OTG cables to my Note 2, it shows the cable being connected, but when I plug in a flash drive it doesn't show up anywhere. I tried many different flash drives with various amounts of data on them, but no joy.
I'm presuming that the Note 1 OTG cables won't work on the Note 2, but would like one of the wizards to confirm this before I include the cables in the Note 1 package that I'm getting ready to put on eBay.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
hey buddy it works, first time when you connect the cable and pen drive wait a minute and then restart your galaxy note 2 and then again connect the cable along with the same pen drive...
Genius! Worked like a champ. I never thought of that, and the Note 2 manual says nothing about that.
Thanks.
There is only one samsung otg cable which works with s2, note, s3, note 2. There are hdmi adapter different for s2, note and for s3 and note2
I've never needed the HDMI adapter, but that's good to know.
Thanks.
you can use an old mhl/hdmi with a note2, just buy a 11pin to 5 pin adapter off ebay for $3
if you get the metal adapter you can open it and use it to get access to the other pins too for modding..

Well, the obvious answer is that the cable is not the correct one. Was it in OEM Samsung packaging? Or did the seller claim that it works on SIII/Note 2? Lots of cables fit and will charge, but don't work for OTG because of the pin structure on the cable.

Have you try to check if the Power Saving Mode is enable? Try to disable it because the flash drive needs power to work. This is based on my experienced with my Note 2. I cannot get it to work at first and I found the culprit is the Power Saving Mode. So when I tried to disable it, then it reads my flash drive. Hope it helps..
Pen drive filesystem
What about the disk format? I have heard that only FAT and FAT32 partition are readable from OTG and not NTFS. Is it true?
I'm not sure whether that's right or not, but every file system should work with this app: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paragon.mounter

a way to access from your note 2 to your external hard disk?

Hey guys..is there a way or a cable and an application that you connect your note 2 with a "x" cable to have acces to your external hard disk? Or even flash memory?
I mean note 2 -cable- external hard disk?
Direcrly without using a pc or else.
Like an usb host controller.?
Thx in advanve

The Note II can't output enough power for larger hard drives, so if yours has an external power supply then use it or if it's only powered through USB try using a powered USB Hub. Capacity itself shouldn't be a problem.
It does work!!!

I beg to differ your opinion sir,
I have a Note 2 GT-N7100 i purchased the cable mentioned here, got it very cheap at only 2 $ from a local store.
Anyway I tried and connected everything i could imagine that has a usb plug into my Note 2 and they all worked
The devices I tried are : A mouse, A keyboard, A USB flash-memory and last but not least, my 500 GB external HD and they all worked like a charm!!
The Note 2 is an amazing device!!
attached are the proof of some of the devices mentioned above
NB: the mouse picture is taken from the Galaxy S2 , but it is almost the same for the Note 2

So are you able to charge your Note and connect devices (e.g. mice, flash drives etc.) at the same time? Almost all the reviews said this didn't work.
On my S3 and 2014 and my Monster M7, not on my Nexis or Anydata. Seems like it depends on the device...

Hi,
I bought this hub on the premise that it would charge my Note 2014 while connecting USB devices (hard disks, USB memory sticks etc.) to my tablet. It did not work.
I connected the micro USB end to my Note 2014, connected the USB end to a power supply, and I connected a USB memory stick (32gb formatted as FAT, then FAT32, exFAT, NTFS) into one of the three USB ports. My tablet did not detect the USB memory stick(s) nor did it charge the Note 2014.
I even bought an external power supply and connected that to the DC 5v slot on the hub. That did not help either.
If I connect the USB end of the hub into a Windows 7 laptop then it acts as a normal USB hub and windows detects the tablet, and each of the 3 USB devices connected to the hub.
From the discussion on this thread I was under the impression that the hub would work on the Note 2014. It did not work for me. Is there a special way of connecting that I do not know about? Can you please tell me how you managed to get it to work?
Does anybody know of an OTG HUB that will allow me to connect an external hard disk to my Note 2014 while charging the tablet at the same time?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I think it was intended to facilitate moving files from an older phone. Mine is due to arrive any moment. I think we will all have some real answers soon.

You plug the USB C end into the Pixel and then use another cable to connect an older phone (presumably one you're already using with the older phone). Micro USB/Lightning into the older phone, USB into the adapter. The adapter can also be utilized for OTG - USB C into the Pixel, flash drive/other USB device into the USB port.

Also to use OTG. Plug that in, and you can hook up a keyboard, mouse, removable drive, someone elses phone, whatever.
Could someone clarify. I plugged the adapter in how I was directed by a thread at the "pixel community". The thread referenced a way to use the adapter to transfer files however I plugged it in set the settings to xfer files and nothing. Does the adapter go into the pixel or the (in my case) Note 7? The thread listed a way to make these transfers upon start up but I'm way past start up. I need to transfer a couple apps and a big phone log and a truck load of texts. Any help out there?
