[Q] Can't turn/wake my brand new ATT Deisre Eye on - HTC Desire Eye

Can someone help? I have had my brand new ATT version for the past two days which I rooted but still on stock 4.4.4. This morning, I was trying to get the "auto hide soft keys" app to work (had already been using it). The screen went blank and nothing seems to work, only the notification LED stays green; I had charged it full before.
I have tried soft boot and hard reset using keys, but nothing is working Has it happened to anyone?
Thank you in advance...

Have you tried holding the power and volume up keys at the same time for about 15+ seconds? There have been a few times that I soft bricked my HTC devices and I had to hold the power and volume up for a couple of minutes ?

That's the first thing that I tried, actually a few times! It still has that green LED on, but nothing else comes on. When I connect it to the PC and try to use the htc toolkit to put it in fastboot mode, it says no device attached. Did I just blow my $400 up in air? Someone please help!

Trust me I have been in your shoes many many times and only had to return a phone once. When you plug the phone in to a computer does your computer make any noise saying that "something" has been plugged in?

Whoa whoa whoa.... Let's not go that far I have had dozens of HTC devices since they first changed their name to HTC ?. I have also had a few Samsung and lg phones in there too and I have to say the openness of the phone is so much better than some other companies... Maybe not as good as oppo though but I would say that hardware is better. Anyways.... The fact that it is recognizing a device is a good thing! But I cannot help past that for the very moment. I will read around and try to find the link that has helped me in the past!

Don't get me wrong, I've had HTC devices before the last one being Evo 3D. All I'm saying is Samsung and Oneplus One have been relatively flawless and easy to tweak. I got this phone for the selfie with flash, water resistance and stereo speakers, none of which I'm able to use at the moment I appreciate your help a lot!

When you read this, I tried the suggestion from the above link and even held both buttons down for as long as 3 min, the stupid thing is still dead, except the green LED!

Good news! When I reread your first response stating that you had to hold the vol up and power button, it worked! Thanks a lot man!

Still on stock; there is not much interest from the developers in this device, kinda sad. BTW, I had to do the vol up and power thing again since it froze up! What do you think is causing it, an app or what?

Need help!!! Is my galaxy nexus dead???

hi everyone
last night i was just using my gnexus as usual, then all of a sudden the device just freezes and then proceed to emit a loud noise, like a "buuuzzz" nonstop..i coundt turn it off through the pwer button so i decided to remove the battery..reinsert it, and then can't turn it on again..
tried to conect to pc, the device is not recognized..
cant power on with the charger plugged in..tried another charger, no success
meanwhile i'm trying to put the battery on an external charger to see if its an issue with the battery itself..
i'm starting to think that my nexus is dead..
please if someone cound help me, it would be much appreciated. thx in advance!!!
sorry for my broken english, i'm from brazil
So it doesn't vibrate or anything? You can't get into bootloader? No Odin?
If no, then try OMAP flashing. I never did it, so I don't quite know about it, but apparently this saved some good amount of people with the hard bricking.
Do you have the ability to give it a try with another battery?

Not in the moment, but the battery just runs fine with an external charger. But i'll try to find another one available..
The thing that really bothers me is the no response when plugged to the pc. Am i mistaken, or it should beep when connected through usb(without the battery)?
have the device for TWO months..wow...

I had Similar issue with another phone. It was hardware related. Were you overclocked? Running custom Rom?
Are you under warranty?

Yeah I recently had something similar happen. Taking the battery out and plugging it into the computer did the trick and it booted back up. Something to try anyway.

Never messed with the clockspeed, however yes i'm using a custom Rom. Actually i've been using this for 3 days, no problems whatsoever. until now..do u think that's the cause? The phone is literally dead by now. Thats REALLY depressing. and the loud noise when it froze before it completely stopped working.. unbelievable

If it's dead go ahead and exchange of in warranty. The buzzing sound is a chip frying.

thx for the reply everyone!
So the strangest thing happened. i left the battery in the external charger for a full day..when a took it off and put it in the phone, pressed the pwr button with no sucess...nothing again...tried a couple of times..and yet nothing
five minutes later ,on a last ditch effort, pushed the pwer button once more and..FINALLY ! the thing wakes up..booted normaly, like nothing happened.
today when the battery runs out again(on about 2 %) i turned it off and connected the usb cable to charge in my work's pc..now again the same thing happens, phone is dead again. tried with 2 different cables..battery is already in the external charger, gonna try again tomorrow..
starting to think the problem is in the usb connector or the battery itself..but at least my biggest fear(fried phone) seems less likely

SOLVED: HELP NEEDED!!! Note 2 wont turn on. BadgeProvider and Samsung has stopped!!!!

As the title reads my Note 2 will not turn on. It will not go into recovery mode. I have 5 batteries and none of them are working. Yesterday I got 2 weird messages that "BadgeProvider" and "Samsung" has stopped. The phone started acting weird by not letting me use anything but the notification bar. I couldn't even turn it off using the power button. I removed the battery and reinserted the battery a couple of times and still it didn't work only letting me use the notification bar. Finally it started working for some random reason and I restarted the phone and all was well.
I'm so use to having 5 batteries that I did not have the phone on the charger last night and it died. Now the phone will not turn on at all. Not into recovery mode. Not normal mode. It is totally unresponsive. Tried rapidly touching the contacts with the battery contact and nothing. What can I do to get my phone working????????????
Also to add to this, yesterday when I was taking the phone's battery out and in the phone would start booting by itself. Could this be a power button issue? I've only had the phone for about 10 months and never dropped it without the otterbox defender series on it.

From that statement above, having the otter box doesn't mean you'll be protected against drops. Yes it'll protect the phone but still suffered inside the device! I had a friend crack his screen on the corner, with an otter box on with one drop!
Now back to the phone:
Since you can get into recovery have you tried a factory data reset to see if that fixes your problem..

I plan to read all responses as soon as I can because I'm in dire need of help. The phone WILL NOT turn back on. The first day I had the problem it gave me the "BadgeProvider" has stopped working and also the "Samsung" has stopped working error messages. The only thing that was responsive was responsive was my notification bar. I could slide it down turn wifi on and off etc from there but when I hit the setting button on the notification bar it would not open up the settings immediately and there was maybe a 2 minute delay (I walked away from the phone and came back to it) and it would finally open it up but giving me the 2 error messages "BadgeProvider" and "Samsung" has stopped working. Read online that clearing the BadgeProvider data under "Application Manager->All->BadgeProvider" would fix this issue so thats what I did. Wallah it worked fine.....fell asleep without my phone on the charger and it died but I have 5 batteries so who cares. Woke up noticed the phone was dead then I swapped batteries (OEM Samsung battery). Tried to turn it on and it will not turn on. Tried putting it on the charger (even though it should be a freshly charged battery) and the red charging light will not even come on. Tried to boot into recovery mode and still unresponsive.
As of now I CANNOT boot into revovery mode, turn on the phone in any way, get the charging light to come on when plugged in (I have 5 other batteries plus an external battery charger so its definitely not truely dead battery wise), I cannot get the phone to do anything what so ever. Tried removing external storage from it, tried removing sim, tried 5 different fully charged batteries and nothing.
Anyone that can give me some insight on what the problem may be and a possible solution I would greatly appreciate it.

True, true.....Or, they post the same question in five forums....lol.
What do you guys think about using Odin? Can he get into the phone if it won't go to recovery? Can you install TWRP or CWM, they may automatically set the phone to restart in recovery mode? Just some thoughts....I am not a dev., just an avid user.
Something here might help as well. :

Keep us posted on what you try, and your status. Good luck.
Also if it helps any, I have had my phone restart by itself randomly way before rooting it. After rooting I still had the restarts just as I have always had (maybe once every 3 weeks). Rooting it gave me no errors at all and it has been working fine for months being rooted. Not sure if letting you guys know of the restarting issue is going to help anything but I'm telling you all I know to try to debug this issue.

Thanks man. I'm thinking it's hardware too. Herd of motherboard problems early on with this phone that would cause it to randomly shut off and not come back on.
Has ANYONE had any experience with samsung repair centers???? Do they care if the device is rooted even if its a known hardware issue?
Thanks for any help

I've read a few people having that problem with the phone randomly turning off.
[Q] did you get the phone New or used? If its used you have a lot of people out there selling devices with problems that they couldn't fix! FYI

Does it get recognized by the PC?
When you plug it in? If so then you should be able to try the Kies recovery!
If not then kies won't help..

I brought it directly from AT&T new. And nope. Tried pluggin it into the PC and not recognized. Tried Kies and Odin and neither had any affect. The phone is just completely unresponsive now.
Thinking about trying to take it to Samsung before AT&T so I can try to miss the deductible.
Remove the battery ...then plug the device in to USB connection with your PC...
Then attempt to boot the phone into download mode..
If successful ....then immediately push the rooted stock rom from Mr. Robinsons thread in the development section...
If no download mode exists while attempting boot with the battery removed ...then the likelihood of device damage is high...
This of course does not rule out the possibility of a stuck power button ...but that hardware failure generally presents a repeated and uncontrolled loop which in this case we are not seeing...
Odin mode failure generally means a defective or damaged Chipset...g

Ok since you want to take it in to Sammy. And you did state you got it New from the AT&T store. Then you can take it into one of the DSC. (Device support center)
Check HERE:

Hopefully there's one in your area. I have one like 10 mins away from me
Hopefully they can help you get back up and running. No charge either. It's a warranty center. Member no Rom talk in there.. LOL:sly:
But if they can't get it to turn on you'll be getting another the same day. Takes about a total of 15 minutes and you'll be on your way with your new toy!! Yay and good luck to you. Lety us know what you're outcome is!

Got a new phone. It was a painless process. Just walk in play dumb and talk as least as possible. They never asked a question about rooting. I'm guessing because I seemed like an idiot . Going to let it do all the updates it can then going to root it tomorrow using CFroot.
Thanks all for the info.
Anyone reading this in the future let me know if I can help in anyway.
Glad you got a new device ..and for the record ...I personally believe you had a bad device from day 1...
Normally I would frown on anyone taking back a device that has been modded ...but I can see no evidence in your case that indicates your doing anything that would break your chipset ...
And I know that others feel the same way ...
You tried your guts out ...and the device just didn't act properly from day 1...
Please place a "Solved" in the thread title if you don't mind ...
That way ...everyone knows the issue has been corrected ..
Many thanks ...and....
Happy flashing ....g

Really could use your help!

So I'm not new by any means to xda or fixing electronics of any sort so I'd not be here asking for ALL possibilities of assistance I can get. .. Throw any possible solution you can my way as it can't hurt to try most ideas.
I'm working on my brothers SPRINT model galaxy S3. This thing is in pristine condition never dropped always in his Otterbox.
It will not power on so I cannot get into download mode however I can, if I finagle it enough get glimpses of the screen flashing on so I can see the battery icon for 5 seconds like it wants to power on
He bought a brand new battery direct from Samsung yet when plugged in via Samsung Wall charger nothing. .. No charging light zilch. If I try the USB charger that came with it nothing either.
No lights. No powering on. No way to get into download mode to try to bring it back from literally working before going to bed then he said he woke up and it was like a brick.
Any idea if there is a way to get this working again seeing that I get no power at all?
Thanks

I'd have to agree with @MIKEY309 on this one. It sounds like a power button issue. I would think you'd have at the least a charging light, because even when it's powered off it displays a charging battery on the screen. Jigs are cheap and easy, and good to have on hand, so I say give that a shot, at least, and if that doesn't work, then go the button route. Good luck!

It must likely is the power button, but try pulling the battery out & give it about ten minutes… put the battery back in & try powering it back up. I know it sounds stupid but give it a try, I had something like this happen to me before & this worked for me. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I was actually pretty sure it was the ever so infamous failed power switch on the board, which everything I have done and tried suggests so. I just thought perhaps maybe there was a possibility it could be fixable without having to get that power switch replaced.
I can slap it against my leg and voila, it always vibrates and attempts to power on, sometimes It'll stay powered on, I did get it into download mode and used a stock firmware file to Odin it back to stock, my only concern is that darn Custom Binary Trip counter now, I may just find a local shop to see if they'll replace it for less than $50 I am also considering buying a bad esn/ or cracked screen Sprint SIII to swap out the boards with, unless someone has one to donate. For now though I'll be without a phone until I can afford to get it replaced.
Thanks again!

Sprint don't care if your rooted...if it's that button they should take care of you
because it's such a known issue.

I know this is going to sound too simple to work. But have tried blowing Compressed Air on the power button ? The kind that's used on keyboards.

I forgot all about that man...I've hear it working for others...sometimes little debris gets in there and messes it up...I'd definitely try this.

Currenty I have NO data not sure why but I can't update profile/prl as I have a big fat O with a diagonal line through it, the ever so infamous "NO" symbol. I have no problems with wifi but alas NO data.
Any clues if there is a way to restore say "efs" or something to that effect to give me data back?

What Rom and modem combination are you running? Have you ran the activation reset now that you're up and running? (##72786#), without the parentheses of course .

Nexus 7 Screen Not Displaying Anything

I've looked around the forums and everywhere online but no one seems to have a solution to my problem. A few days ago i was using my Nexus 7 and i placed it down normally and shut the screen off. I came back to use it a few minutes later and the screen didn't turn on though the device itself was still on. I thought maybe it was just some lag which happens occasionally after i press the power button. I tried restarting it but the screen just stayed black. I think it is still charging because the led notification light still lights up every few seconds as usual and it still seems to be powered on. Is there a possible solution to fix this quickly or would i have to send it back to ASUS since it has been about 6 months since i purchased it?
Can you access to the bootloader ?
I can't actually see the screen so i guess no
Have you tried pressing the power button for longer than a minute?
If that doesn't work you may need to RMA to Asus.

I just found out that my mom threw out the box that the nexus 7 was shipped in, meaning i no longer have the warranty or serial number. Is there any way to access this information otherwise?

I think you have to take the back off for that. I am not sure though. Maybe someone that has taken their nexus apart can chime in.

[Q] Nexus 7 2013 Hard bricked?

Hello friends,
My apologies if I have posted in the wrong section.
My Nexus 7 2013 has Android 4.4.4 on it, it's unlocked, rooted, and has the ElementalX-N7-2.13 custom kernel. It ran flawless until a few days ago, Adaway updated definitions, and asked for a reboot. I have done this several times before without issue. This last time, the screen went black, and no matter what button press combinations, will not boot even into recovery. Tried everything I know of. Last of which, was plugging it into my pc, and utilizing the Wugs tool kit "soft bricked" script. Of course it doesn't work, because I don't have adb/fastboot status. My pc no longer even recognizes the tablet. All that shows up, is Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 Com3.
Fully charging it, and unplugging the battery for a few hours, has done nothing. Do you think the bootloader got damaged? Why would Adaway do that??
You guys are my last hope, before it hits the trash, as I am not turning it into Asus for warranty replacement. I have way too much sensitive stuff on it (no it's not porn) for it to fall in someone else's hands.
Take pitty on a pathetic noob. Greatly appreciate any info. THANK YOU!

Thought I read on another thread, someone recovered theirs, by using QPST? Or is that just wishful thinking?
Sorry to see this dude, you might want to check this dude out. I have ever heard nothing but good things about his jTag work, not sure if he can help but worth a try good luck!!! http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com

When it launched the original Nexus 7 was a landmark device. It was the first of the budget tablets that actually delivered a premium experience and the 7-inch form factor made it the perfect bridge between phones and tablets making it both a pleasure to interact with while remaining (jacket) pocketable. However just over one year on and people are complaining that it’s become slow to the point of unusable.

Thanks, but it appears this thing is dead. I know not to use Adaway ever again though. Adaway did something to the bootloader.

No what? It can't be a coincidence, it bricked immediately after Adaway updated, and required a reboot.

Adaway does nothing to the boot loader. It was either:
A. A coincidence
B. Your device is bricked from adaway but the bootloader is fine.

Okay, here's what you do.
Use a DIT guide and open it. I have taken the back case off myself with my nail. It's not hard.
Take out the battery and disconnect it.
Reconnect the battery and try to turn it on.
Use power+volume down for 2 minute , and see if it powers up.
Secondly hold power+ volume down for a minute and then power+volume up for a minute before disconnecting the battery. See it it powers up. If not try opening the back case, there are many guides, I have one in general section but use fixit guide which is more clear and professional.
Good luck.

I'm not even sure at this point, if the battery isn't stone dead. I messed around with it so much, trying to get it working again. I tried all the button combinations, though not exactly as you have detailed. I think I will charge it via the wall charger for a while, then disassemble it again, and try your suggestion.
Several people told me, it's beyond recovery, so put it in the closet and forgot about it.
Thank you, stay tuned.......

Don't get too excited. There're small delicate parts and ribbon is also very fragile so use fixit guide

Why is it necessary to remove the battery? Isn't it enough, just to unplug it? That way you don't mess with the ribbon cables?

Just UNPLUG IT, DON'T DO ANYTHING MORE!
THATS EXACTLY WHAT I SAID showing you second picture .
Remove battery is a term, we usually use for phone to take it out in order to disconnect kits power source . That's exactly what we want here. unplug it!

Yeah that makes sense. As I outlined in my initial post, I have unplugged the battery already, with no luck. There didn't seem to be any real consensus on the button press procedure. I've read 30 seconds, 1 minute, press power and both volume up and down at same time, as well as what you have suggested, just not for the length of time you said. Worth a try I suppose, I'll be shocked if it actually works.
Right now I have no way of knowing how much charge (if any) the battery has. Guess I could put a meter on the battery leads. I think I'll just let it wall-charge for a few hours.
Thanks again, stay tuned...........

Lad,
Just try the button trick first of all.
Power+ up
Power + down
Power+ up n down
Plug the charger to nexus and then try these combinations for two minutes each and report.
Only then you should start with taking off the back cover!
I suppose about should take you 15 minutes so I'm waiting for good news!
