[Q] SideSync not working properly - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have installed SideSync in my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE and in my Windows 7 computer but it doesn't work properly.
They connect successfully but in the PC I see a window with the proportion of the phone screen in portrait mode and then the image of the phone screen appears appears rotated 90 degrees, occupying all the width of the window in the middle and the rest is black. Also, the blue circle that you move with the mouse and represents the finger doesn't act properly, as if the coordinates were messed up.
I tried with another Note 2 (this one not LTE) with same results. I also installed the app in my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 tablet and the same happens here. The image appears rotated and the phone can't be controlled with the tablet app.

Hi:
Did you ever figure this out. It just started happening with me as well.
Thanks.

Same here with rooted stock ROM 4.4. 2 N7100XXUFND3 on Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
SideSync 3.0 version shows 3.2.7.1215 and works via USB connection under Windows 7

me too.... was ok the last time.. really hope there is a fix for this.

same here
hi, i have the same issue. I have Windows 8.1 and two phones. Note 2 has the same issue as described by jedikalimero .
Second phone is galaxy S4 and that works just fine on the same computer (with the same cable).
I have found an article about enabling USB debugging, but that did not help.

Any fix to this yet?? funny enough I installed a custom rom on my Note 3 which was a port of a Note 4 and it finally started working but I left that ROM for another flavor and it's back to this stupid issue.. Such a shame..

Same problem here!
Did anyone find a fix for this?
Thanks!

still ni fix

for real? no fix?
what are other Mirror cast that I can Use on my PC??

You can use TeamViewer. It works great and it comes in different flavours, depending on what you want to do. There is a host app and a server app. The server app lets you control your Android/IOS/Windows Phone or tablet with your Windows/Linux/MacOS PC and the host app lets you control your Windows/Linux/MacOS PC with your Android/IOS/Windows Phone or tablet. And with the desktop app you can also control another PC.
Sometimes I have left my Windows PC turned on in London and have controlled it with my Note Pro tablet or my Note 4 phone from Tenerife, even downloading files from the PC to my phone.

I just want to see the phone screen on the PC, to play some games
team viewer I already try but there is not this option

There wasn't. It is a new feature. you have to install Teamviewer in your PC and create an account.
Then install TeamViewer Host in your Note: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamviewer.host.market
You have to log in in your TeamViewer account when you run it so your phone can be associated with your account and appear in the devices list of your PC TeamViewer.
The app will also ask you to install an add-on, so allow it and you are ready to go.

There is now also a TeamViewer Host app for Samsung that allows not only screen mirroring but also control from the PC (or Mac). But if you installed the original Teamviewer Host, it probably has already asked you to install this special version and remove the regular one so chances are you already know this

SideSync works but I can't control the note 2 from my PC when you click on Phone Screen, I use my mouse to swipe and try to unlock the phone and it don't work, the drop down menu works only if you click on the the button at the top in the middle ,the button thats hidden with 2 lines in it and can't click on anything, the back and menu buttons at the bottom don't work too.,any ideas..?

[Q] Texting on Galaxy s3 using pc

Hi, first off, I haven't ever needed to post much here before but I love to read all the stuff available here at this site. Top notch man!
Anyway, I have a question that I cannot seem to find an answer to, and have tried numerous search terms to no avail.
Is there a way where I can hook up my s3 to my PC and be able to see the text messaging interface on the PC as well as use the keyboard on the PC to interact with them?
The PC is running WIn XP SP3 and I also have a laptop that runs Win 7.
After hours of texting, this would be much more comfortable on the eyes, and using the full sized keyboard on my PC would mean less typo corrections due to striking the wrong letters. If anyone has a solution for this, or can suggest an app that does this, please respond.
Thanks in advance.
Yesterday I saw an app on market for that .
Search text from pc or text from tablet. There are bunch off apps.

Thanks!, Not exactly what I was looking for but a good alternative. The ultimate would be to have the GS 3 connected via the micro USB and then see the messaging GUI as seen on my phone on my PC screen while being able to use my PC keyboard for interaction. I am guessing this doesn't really exist as of yet.

Actually I saw some pics of my friend whose usb connector has a female usb port at the other end which has a usb mouse connected, and it works. You should try to look for that connector and try your keyboard. :cyclops:
Not sure if I understand your question exactly but you might want to try Kies Air. It's either through the browser or it comes as a little standalone application when you download Kies.
I'm using MySms and it works great. I can text from my tablet, my PC (browser or app), and everything syncs and backs up to the cloud. You'd need to install their app on your phone so it can intercept your texts and send them to the cloud. The only thing is that MMS is funky, so I still use the AOSP messenger to download and upload them.
Use AirDroid.
Does SMS, app installs, file transfers, and more through Wi-Fi or data connection

[Q] Connect DSLR camera to Tab3 8.0

I have a Tab 3 (8.0) with android 4.2.2. Can I connect via OTG cable my Nikon D200 camera to the tablet so I can view a picture shortly after exposure. I tried just making the connection and the tablet does not "see" the camera's CF card as an additional storage or hard drive. By the way, this procedure does work on my computer using Windows Explorer. I read somewhere that android 4.3 update will allow this should it ever become available. Any ideas on how I might be able to accomplish this? Thank you all.

IF you can set your camera to a mode that it looks like a storage device for your computer, then it should work fine as a storage device ONLY with the tablet and OTG. IF it needs a special driver to work on the PC, then then Android will not recognize it.

Thank you, DigitalMD,
I will have to check into that. I know when I first connected the camera to the PC it did load a driver of some description but I don't know what. Until Samsung decides to grace us all with 4.3.2, perhaps I would be better off using my 7" net book instead of the tablet. Too bad but thank you again for your rapid and helpful response.

Are you trying to achieve control or just file transfer? If you are trying to control the camera during shooting or view when in shooting mode you will need an app for Nikon control. When you connect a new device to a windows PC, it will search an online database of drivers and download a new driver if needed. Android does not work like that, for OTG there is a very limited set of devices it can recognize mainly , storage, mouse, keyboard
You might try DSLR.Dashboard or similar apps.

Can I control my Note 4 from Windows 7?

Basically, I'm looking to control my Galaxy Note 4 from my PC with a keyboard and mouse. Can this be done somehow over my WiFi? I read about an app called mobizen, but I have no clue how it works. Anyone familiar with this? What I want to do, is basically:
Drag files in and out of my phone to/from PC
Use my PC's keyboard and mouse to do things like texting or typing in messages into my phone with other apps
Try Samsung SideSync.

You might also try Mobizen. I use that with my Note 2.

By any chance, when attempting to install Mobizen on your PC, did you get a "File Copy Error!!" when first launching Mobizen (which runs an auto update that causes this message)?
That said, Mobizen isn't currently an option since it doesn't even run on my PC. Apparently, I'm not the only one to have this problem with it.
Any other suggestions on remote connection to phone?
I use Team Viewer to control all of my Android devices. Unlike the PC to PC connection, however, the phone must "accept" the remote control request each time.
I second Team Viewer, it's free and fast and easy.
I mostly use it the other way around to control my PC but it works great either way!

Team Viewer from what I understand, won't cut the mustard. For a phone, it only goes from phone to PC, thus putting your PC on your phone, correct? You can't "Call" your phone via Teamspeak. Correct me if I'm wrong. Otherwise, that would be nice if it did do that.
You would need TeamViewer's Quick Support app plus the Samsung module. Both can be found in the Play Store.
I would second SideSync. It works really well and has a keyboard and mouse only option.

sidesync on note 8.0

Hello, I need to mirror the note 8 screen to my win7 PC (that doesen't have an HDMI input).
I've installed trhe samsung USB drivers on my PC, I've installed samsung sidesync 3.0 on both the PC and the note, I start sidesync on the PC, I connect the tablet via USB but when I start sidesync on the tablet it look for the PC but it doesen't find it.
The Same if I start sidesync on the PC and I ask him to find the tablet via USB, it doesen't find it. .
Any suggestion is welcome-
Thanks
Can't get sidesync to work either. Dunno if it requires KITKAT (which I don't want since that will limit write permissions to my external SD card unless rooted) I use other apps though.
1) There's mirror op presenter. Free for 5 min per use (trial) then you have to re-connect. Good thing about mirror op is that it's not limited to a pc. with mirror op on another android device or another android TV stick you can can virtually screen cast to anything particularly documents and ppt.
2) If its just a power point, wps office is another option.
3) There is the option to get a chromecast which uses native android screen mirroring.
Hope these options help.
I have my own question about sidesync though. I hope someone can advise me. I read here:
http://www.cnet.com/news/samsung-galaxy-tab-s-sidesync-takes-calls-on-tablets/
that the galaxy tab S can mirror the S5 screen as a miniwindow or app. I downloaded the sidesync and screen mirroring app from the galaxy app store (which obviously don't work even for PC) so these probably won't let me mirror the S5 screen to my note 8. Has anyone tried portiong the tab S sidesync app to the note 8 so we can mirror the s5 screen to the note 8? Here's my planned set up or use:
1) At a conference/convention/lecture
2) S5 on a small handheld tripod fixed on screen/presentation.
3) taking down noted on the Note 8.
4) S5 screen mirrored.
5) When there's a chunk of works I need to quickly take a picture of and attach to notes I just tap on the S5 miniwondow on the note 8, take a picture and drag and drop to the note 8.
Or do any of you have anyother suggestions for this usage scenario? Note 8 I believe is still the best note taking device in terms of screen real estate and size but the camera is well...just not as good as the S5. Any advice would be nice. Thanks. More power to the forums.

Note 4 developer version not connecting to PC as drive

I have a rooted Note 4 developer device and when I connect it to my PC it does not appear as a drive. I'm using the USB charging cable that came with the phone. If I connect with my Note 2, that works, but not the Note 4. I was able to use Odin to flash TWRP so the PC saw the phone and used it correctly. When I click on the USB safely remove hardware and eject media icon in my taskbar, I get an Eject Samsung Media option, so it sees the phone. Maybe my modem is set to an alternative mode? I have no idea how to change that.
The SD card works, and if I want to copy files to and from that I remove it from the phone and put it in a card reader and transfer files that way. When I check the drivers in device manager on the PC everything looks like it's working fine, no yellow triangles with an exclamation mark. I have USB debugging turned on. Maybe it's a setting in TWRP? I am completely baffled and would greatly appreciate any ideas or solutions. And yes, I've turned the phone off and on again...

I've had this problem before and I uninstalled the Samsung drivers and reinstalled them. Drivers can be "finicky" on some versions of Windows. Make sure you get the latest drivers from the Samsung web site, not another download site. I'm sure you know this, but make sure USB Debugging is selected and you connect as a Media Device under USB connection settings. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your suggestion, JPCalhoun. I reinstalled the drivers, but still no luck. The computer's USB charges the phone. The PC, which is a Windows 7 64 bit machine, sees the phone as a Samnsung mobile USB CDC composite Device. On the phone, the little UBS symbol just never appears. I think it might have to do with the modem settings on the Note 4. I just have no idea on how to access them. I know on older notes you would bring up the keypad and dial in a certain number to access the phone's modem. I don't know what the number is on the Note 4. It's weird, everything else works perfectly on the phone, just not the USB settings. I'm going to try and transfer stuff wirelesslly. I transfered all my old contact information from my old Note 2 to the Note 4 wirelessly, so maybe I'm just stuck going that route.

That did the trick, Manbat. I thank you profusely! I got a Note 4 dev edition and you would think that they would have had the USB setting set to MTP+ADB. Anyway, now she's rooted and working well in my ColorCross VR headset. Running Crysis 2 in Stereo 3D with this display is mindblowing. Better resolution than a genuine Oculus Rift DK2 headset. And no tether! Good times. Thank you again, Manbat!

Yea I had that same exact problem yesterday, I am pretty sure its because they took a regular retial, unlocked the bootloader and left it in that setting. It was driving me nuts but I found it by doing some research, when I suspected the problem, i didn't know how to get into the hidden menu until I found that app man what a pain in the ass
