When HTC announced its One M9 at Mobile World Congress, it did not reveal an exact launch date, but at its March 18 UH OH event for the U.S. HTC One M9, it finally gave a release date, and it appears it has Samsung's Galaxy S6 devices directly in its sights.

:good: Bring it

I'm not proud.. but hey, it pays the bills:laugh:

Looking Good....
Latest ROM version is 1.33.90605.313. Very stable. No overheating, despite rumors to the contrary. Sense home widget has been improved (some extra baggage is removed/removable). Terrified of what bloatware Verizon will insist they include. Does anyone use Verizon Cloud? Seriously. I wish they'd lose the mealtime suggestions in Blinkfeed. Really stupid, IMHO. Maybe others think it's cool. Theming is very nice touch. I've used a couple of different astronomical images and created color schemes based upon the images. It's a nice touch. Even icons and sounds can be "themed".

From the way I read this, you have the device. Is that correct?

I have a test device. I am limited in what I can say (for now).

I can't comment on battery life. There is a plethora of diagnostic and logging software running in the background so I can't get a real world feel. I did shut it all off one day and got what would be about 12 hours extrapolated with normal use and no effort at powersaving.
I almost always run my M8 on regular powersave mode. I would imagine that the battery life on the M9 would be equivalent or better if run in that mode.

Uh-Oh Protection
Pretty nice value-add for the M9 (and subsequently on the M8's once the M9 is officially released).
Full release Live video is here:
He states M9 will start selling on April 10th (I believe), and that Unlocked/Rooted phones are still covered by the Uh Oh protection.
BTW, at the 19:52 mark of the 2nd video, that's me!

looks like @santod040 was able to use it:good:

I read a bunch of posts about how HTC is good about letting people unlock their phones and install a custom recovery like TWRP. I am wondering if this will be true for the Vz version of the M9.
I just read that HTC will offer an unlocked, unsubsidized M9 for $650 that will support AT&T bands. Sounds unfortunate that there will be different models for different carriers vs. one version for all the carriers.
I am very interested in the M9 as a replacement for my 2 year old S4 with MDK that is running a GPE ROM. I only want pure Google on my devices.

The one I read said all variants will be available for the 12:01 release
---------- Post added at 06:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:59 PM ----------
Maybe a dumb question, but wouldn't buying the unlocked one be the way to go? I'm going to use it on Verizon, but it would be nice to have the ability to switch, if need be.

From what I am reading, a lot of them were trying to flash IS roms onto S-OFF I2. They were *I AM GUESSING* probably told that they are buying an imported IS and doesn't realize it's actually an entirely different model.
Nothing really to see here in terms of breakthroughs... there's a way to S-OFF these VZW I2's... there's a list of address on their forums, but China is kind of far from NY.... haha
EDIT:
PS. There seems to be couple of reasons why they really like our I2s over their own domestic S710d. First being that ours are made in Taiwan instead of China, I am guessing the quality is better? and the Second being that it is said the domestic S710d are not S-OFF able as of right now, and only the VZW rom can support WCDMA on top of EVDO and 1X.
My own speculation, it seems like it's an XTC-clip based method from how people are describing it. I will be following their forum closely and will post here if found anything new.

Bah. I wanted the Incredible 2, but maybe my OG Droid will have to keep kicking until they announce a phone officially with an unlocked boot loader. I don't think they'll do it retroactively, but I'd love them more if they do. I want an Inc 2!
i just got my inc2 from my second insurance claim this year, so i can't 'break' my phone to get one of the new unlocked ones, i really hope they unlock it with an ota, or maybe 'leak' the keys to some devs, so they can do it for us..
I've only had mine a couple weeks. I'm not the type to commit insurance fraud to try to get an unlocked one. I was just joking but I know claims will go up with some people trying to get a new unlocked one.
I have another upgrade in October so I can wait if necessary. I have a feeling they won't be retroactive but the codes may be leaked somehow.
Yup...Tapatalk'd
Ya I'm not either, I've dropped my phone off my balcony twice now in a year, but even if I was super tempted I couldn't anyway. Realistically they won't be retroactive but we can all hope they will leak the keys.

I don't see why all you guys are so doubtful that HTC will unlock phones that have already been released. The Inc 2 is less than a couple months old, there's no reason to believe that HTC would not apply their new stance to it. My worst case scenario is that we have to wait for the first OTA update (hopefully to GB) before it is unlocked. Even if they for some reason choose not to unlock it, the newer unlocked phones will almost certainly provide some insight on how to unlock this one. Have patience, this phone is pretty amazing without root anyway, there's no reason to be so desperate for it.

There's someone in the IS forum claiming they got prem root (heh, see what I did there?) without hardware. So far all that's been posted is a youtube video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aK_V7xo3qug
I'm taking this with a grain of salt, however. When I see the process reproduced by other people, or instructions I can follow and see for myself, I'll believe it then. Hopefully if the process is publicized it will also work on the I2, given how similar the devices are.
WE WILL SEE!
(I'm not posting the link to the thread because it's full of vitriol and has no substance nor information outside of the video concerning this revelation.)

Actually, where have you been? The IS has XTC Clip working on all but the Bell branded version of it, and that is the only unlock method available. The video seems to indicate, and the person who posted it implies, that a non hardware method was found, meaning no XTC Clip required.
I do read that forum on occasion in hopes that whatever they find works on our side as well So far almost all of the exploits found to work on the IS work on the I2 as well. The one difference in filesystems is probably the only thing that separates them enough for soft perm root on IS to fail on I2. I did say that I hope it works for us as well.

HTC One X or Samsung Galaxy S3?

Which one should I purchase? I'm planning to buy it tomorrow, please help me out, I already checked the specs and they are almost the same, I'm planning to use it mostly to read documents, use mail (read, answer, download attachments) social networking, I develop apps for Android, so the bigger screen, the better, not planning to use it for gaming, but I guess HTC is better in that field since it has a nvidia graphic chip right? any comment will be helpful, thanks!
The One X will get you the best gaming experience on a mobile device ever thanks to the Tegra 3 processor. However, also because of the processor, you might see more development activity in the S3's forum, but I don't think it makes that much of a difference. If you're not planning to root your device and install custom software, you might even get a bit more battery life on the S3. All in all, you should base your decision on your personal preference: would you like an AMOLED or an IPS LCD screen? would you like Samsung's plastic or HTC's more premium feeling (my opinion)? would you like the Tegra 3 and would you use it for THD games? do you have any lean towards either company (I stay away from Samsung because I've heard horror stories about their customer service experience, but have had a good one with my old HTC devices)? Technically speaking, both devices are very similar and capable of running the same software just as well. But since I am obviously here with a HOX on my table, I haven't looked back for a second and I highly recommend you got for the One X - you won't regret it for a second :good:
You can use the search option. There are too many threads comparing between HOX and S3.
It will be easier for you to decide then.

Thanks a lot, that's actually a really really good opinion, I'm planning to root it by the way.
Both have their advantages and disadvantages over each other. One X looks better, has a slightly better screen and fantastic Tegra 3. S3 is more hackable and has a better selection of roms and an arguably slightly better camera.
Personally I would prefer the S3 purely because of the more active community but I'm still happy with my HOX
Hox has the best rom forum... And sg3 apps that can be use in our hox like s voice.. See my screenshoots

Aren’t there any mobile phone stores where you live ? I highly recommend trying out both handsets before buying.
The main reason I bought the One X was price, due to special circumstances I couldn’t wait for the price of S3 to drop. But if I had both options at same price I would have gone with the S3. Mainly because of the removable battery, better community support and the ability to root and install custom ROMs without voiding warranty. But having said that I don’t regret having the One X. It’s a pretty good phone.

LG G4 future forecast of custom ROMs

Is there a future forecast for custom ROM support for the LG G4. I'm thinking about buying the G4, but I'm not sure. The custom ROM community for the G3 is great. Do you guys think that in about a year or so the G4 custom ROM community is also very active?
Only few variants of G4 got bootloader unlocked for now. The rest are having to stay with stock ROMs. If you want to customize your phone consider buying a G4 variant that can get bootloader unlocked. Or get a Nexus
Yeap same here im also g3 user but now g4 with locked bootloader in g3 i flash every roms

how about locked bootloader for 70% of the variants and loosing warranty for the other 30%.
i never unlocked my bootloader on S3/Note1/4 but i could install ROMS even with the less open Exynos phones has better support that this locked down, horrible DPI, fantastic camera, average battery G4. of course this is my mistake for trying out a LG phone, should have waited a month and got the Note 5 or simply went with S6 Edge.
I don't think it's a mistake to have chosen a LG phone. In my opinion, it's a very good phone with two issues: two high resolution (no one needs a higher resolution on a 5,5 inch phone than Full HD in my opinion) and therefore a weak battery...but besides, I think it's great. And hey, CM exists though and that's just not that bad at all.
How can I be sure that the bought - or yet to buy - LG G4 is bootloader unlocked? I'm thinking about buying the G4 at a web-shop in the Netherlands. I contacted the technical department of the web-shop and they told be that most of the models are bootloader unlocked. But they gave no guaranty. They said it is impossible to look at the model number beforehand.
Is there a site available where you can check the model number if it is bootloader unlocked or not.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks my man. I did see you're recommendations, but thing the is that the phone's mentioned by you are far more expensive compared to the G4. There is a offer where you can buy the phone for € 359,- and you get a voucher worth of € 75,- that you can use at the bigger warehouses here in the Netherlands. So that's kind of a no-brainer compared to the purchase price of the Note 5 or Nexus 6p.
The only thing that's keeping me worried is the custom ROM community. Some people mentioned that if the bootloader is unlocked you're free to flash custom ROMs. But how interested is it for programmers to invest there time in the G4?
i dont know what a voucher is lol and googled it got nothing
anyway the boot-loader thing is really annoying and LG is giving no promises about it so its not promising to get an unlockabale version
i have h815p and whatever customization I do on stock it can never be compared to custom kernel and rom
so you must be sure of the model you buy to be unlock able
Good luck

Samsung probably already gave the rom to T-Mobile. T-Mobile then adds their stuff like wifi calling, VoLTE, advanced messaging, etc, then once they're done testing it for stability they push it out. So really it's not just samsung were waiting on.
Nexus comes stock with it. Google gave T-Mobile the firmware long ago.
We probably won't get an update until the s7 comes out, or worse case scenario when the new note and edge plus come out....sad but true

Yes they may have the Firmware from Google for the nexus but that doesn't mean it works with Samsung's phone. They will still have to test the modem and make sure it works well on their network. Still need to test stability with the firmware from Samsung.

That is for the unlocked model. Also, T-Mobile needs to add bloatware and test, which would take a few months probably.
I can never understand why people care about these mediocre updates sometimes, that even breaks the phone at times. When it comes it comes as long as it comes within a 6- 8 months of google releasing it im fine. The software on this phone is excellent now.
Because a lot of these people live t update things. Just keep wanting to update and not satisfied with current things. Sad really.
The t-mobile visual voice-mail update to support android 6.0 is a good sign.

Even Samsung just updated apps M support. We'll just have to wait and see

Are you daft? The jump from L to M had a plethora of awesome features. And no, when all these other phones have M already it seems kind of ****ty that samsung, the biggest android phome manufacturer, is dragging behind like this.

The latest OTA is version 11.2.8.8.LE15AA, I think that one in the screenshot is the full version download preceding the latest OTA updates, but IDK for sure lol
Edit - my default kernel was built on Jul 8 2021, and android security date/level is 7/1/21 ... HTH
I read about OnePlus getting new people to make a team to work on Open Beta for 9/9Pro.
I like that!
New team is not something to like. It might be good but also be a disaster. Questions should be asked like WHY????? are they getting a new team? What happened to all the revenue they made and how are they using it? Who is controlling the company, One Plus or the Chinese government? Why the delay to begin with. I realized DP1 was developers preview and not beta but why not allow Google updates for DP 2 and three. Who cares that Oxygen was not on it yet. Now that stability been reached with Beta, let's us Early Adopters adopt. I refuse to buy a Google Pixel love my one plus but was so excited that it allowed BL to be unlocked but I feel let down by OP. Perhaps my expectations were unrealistic to begin with

This update is from June. (end of the month)
There's an update (11.2.8.8) from July. (end of month)
So, following this logic, this week OnePlus might release a new one.

I'd be more worried if the US government was running it like apple with the new back door.

Lol US government and Chinese as well because even though apple says they are all American blah blah but they are manufactured in China as well. Just all marketing etc
People get married, have kids, no more time to spend on Android. Priorities change.

People get married, have kids, no more time to spend on Android. Priorities change. I also think not only priorities of people's lives but also Android itself and the huge slowdown of phone evolution. Actual since smartphone sales slowed companies like apple and Google created smart watches to help increase revenues. They first used the old nostalgic movies like knight rider or James bond to sell them even though Smart watches cannot do anything close to what the movies portrayed. You can make flippable phones but you won't see hologram s coming out of your phone. I know we love to always think of our technology being limitless but that dam law of physics keeps getting in the way. So now they will start with AR glasses with WebView capabilities. And when that fails, which it will because who wants a HUD I'm their line of sight. In 30 years we will events have implants and chips that will help the brain and technology link. Isn't it Neurolink that exists now. That technology is decades away. Because again we do not know how the body/brain will react and now I'm having flashback from the movie Black Mirror.

Ain't no updates that can save this POS.
the support update page is only updated from time to time, it does not repesent the actual stage of the software.
At this point 11.2.8.8 is up 2 date. OnePlus updates bi-monthly.

There's closed beta testing so maybe devs are focusing to it. Sad to see no fix for Gmail notification bug...

I think the gmail app just sux. I've experienced the late notifications across quite a few devices personally.
Oxygen sucks because of google. The more google on it the more bad Oxygen will be.
Also the King of Bloatware, samsung already gets Androis 12.
And OnePlus release 9R or something...
They are starting the ultimate consolidation of Oxygen OS into Color OS. How is OnePlus going to manage all these phones? Do they even have enough staff to manage all these phones?
Unfortunately they only update bi-monthly.
I saw a user suggest on their official forums basically say "hey guys, how about monthly updates like your competition?" in a friendly way, and a mod basically said **** off and closed the thread. I wasn't impressed.
This was my first OnePlus device, maybe my last.
That 12 Beta debacle was ridiculous.
After having the 7, 8, & 9 Pro, I will be leaving the building as well!
Is this a joke? About month last update and now ppl are think this is over. How do u even can survive this life?
I like how people actually think theres a decent alternative to oneplus these days. At least not in the US. Maybe google if the pixel 6 is actually premium/flagship this time. Otherwise theres no other brand with an unlockable bootloader, which is how they get away with so much bloat. Personally im fine of oneplus becomes a little more like the others as long as the hardware is premium and the bootloader is unlockable.
9 Pro is my first and last phone from OP if they can't get they BS sorted out. The phone has horrible battery life, scrolling issues, and it doesn't get better with next updates. Also, wtf is that BS with the bi-monthly update scheudle? A device like this should be fixed ASAP, the users are experiencing problems and neet to wait, the hell is that policy? Would they wait 2 months to release an update if someone would find a security bug too? So stupid. Get your **** together OnePlus.
