[Q] Unlocking T-Mobile htc one m8 - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking to buy a HTC One M8 T-Mobile version, and unlocking it.
I read on gsmarena.com that the frequencies that work on that phone are these.
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - T-Mobile
LTE band 4(1700/2100), 17(700) - T-Mobile
Now the frequencies in my country are
HSDPA 850 / 900/ 2100
LTE band 4 1800
If I unlock the phone will it be open from my LTE frequency in my country, and the 900Mhz 3g in my country,
or are the phones made for T-Mobile only work with those frequencies no matter if you unlock it or not.
Thanks in advance for all answers!

SIM unlock doesn't change the band compatibility. It just allows you to use a SIM from another carrier besides T-Mobile.
You should be able to s-off the phone ($25 US by sunshine method), and flash the appropriate radio for your region.
But it might be a safer bet to just buy the M8 version that supports your bands out of the phone. Just in case you are (for whatever reason) not able to accomplish the mods I mentioned above.

T-Mobile US TP2 in Asia

Finally decided to get a T-Mobile US TP2
Q0. Other than the looks, what else is different between the International Unbranded HTC TP2 and the US T-Mobile TP2
Q1. I've been told the US 3G bands are different from the Asian / UK 3G bands. The Asian bands if I'm not mistaken are "HSDPA 900 / 2100". Can anybody cite the US bands? Also I know that 2100 is common for both US and UK... will that be enough to use 3G in Asia?
Q2. Obviously I would need to get the phone SIM unlocked. For once I couldn't find anthing on XDA to unlock the TP2. Any light on that would be great
Q3. I noticed that Hard-SPL is now available for TP2. I'm assuming that means I can flash it with any ROM. Would doing that automatically unlock the phone to be used with any SIM?
Need answers to these real fast guys... got a good deal on eBay.
0. mostly looks and 3g bands
1. tmobile 3g is strictly for tmobile 3g. anywhere else and its edge for you
2. no free sim-unlocker yet
3. Hardspl is for flashing roms...completely separate from sim cards
Oh man... that sux. I was really hoping that atleast one of the T-mobile bands would be compatible with the Asian 3G bands. Do you have any idea what bands T-Mobile operates on?
HSPA/WCDMA
1700/2100 MHz
Note the 2100 band is part of AWS which means it's not compatible with Asia 2100. T-Mobile 3G requires both 1700 and 2100 to operate. One band is upload and one is download.
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
Quad-band 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
What exactly is the AWS?

[Q] Sprint M8 only using GSM data in Hong Kong

Just got to Hong Kong and bought a prepaid sim for my sprint m8. Data and voice is working, but data only seems to be GSM, and not 3g or 4g. Any advice? Thanks.
Find out what carrier you are using with that prepaid sim.
Then see what frequency bands and protocols are used,
then match that up with your phone.
If i had to guess i would say your missing the right frequency bands or you have the right band but not matching up with the right protocol.
i would use GSMarena.com http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_(m8)_cdma-6233.php to get the phones band info. Since you know its a Sprint M8 that will tell you what you need to know.
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - Sprint, Verizon
CDMA 800 / 1900 - Sprint, Verizon
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - for Sprint
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - for Verizon
CDMA2000 1xEV-DO - for Sprint, Verizon
4G Network LTE 800 / 1900 / 2600 - Sprint
LTE 700 / 1700 / 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600 - Verizon

Unlocking it will not add or remove any of the phones frequency or protocol items.
Unlocking merely allows the device to use another sim card from a carrier that it was not branded for.
So if its a TMO branded unit and you unlock it you get all the features that TMO asked HTC to make the unit for them for, but you can use it with your carrier.

Can anyone make sense of this conversation I had with u.s. cellular?

Hello. Does the LG K8 prepaid phone come unlocked? domestically or internationally or both or none? Thanks.
The that device is unlocked but it isn't a world phone and it can only be used in the United States. ^Andria
Hi thanks for that reply. But in saying that if it is unlocked and it is used overseas on a 2g or 3g or 4g band that the phone supports it should work?
It's unlocked for use with another U.S. service provider but it can't be used abroad because it doesn't have world phone capability. ^Andria
What I can't figure out is does she mean its domestically unlocked but internationally locked? ( that wouldn't make sense would it?)
Or is she clueless or trying to bs me in how I said about the frequencies?
Lol.
She means it doesnt have the bands that support overseas countries.

From gsmarena lg k8 bands:
2G bands GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800)
In my country we have:
2g: 900/1800
3g: 850/2100

Ho can you help me to understand if my mi 6 (sagit ) global can work with this Canadian carrier?
On the site of the carrier "Your phone must be compatible with LTE AWS (1700 MHz) or LTE 700 MHz bands, or UMTS/HSPA compatible on 850/1900 MHz bands. See your phone’s user guide for information about network compatibility."
Will It work?
Thank you
