[Q] Does Z1 Compact gets really hot when playing intensive games for a long time? - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking of buying either Z1 Compact or LG G2 and I need to ask for Z1 Compact user experience.
LG G2 has a phenomenal 1080P display and a phenomenal camera, while Z1 compact is waterproof and has SD expansion slot.
I saw some comments about Z1 turning off for someone because of the heat, has anyone encountered this while playing something like GTA SA or other games that just suck performance?
And what would you recommend? Is Z1 Compact screen enough for internet browsing and gaming, not too small? I previously used ZTE blade which is 1x1 cm less in size than the Z1 compact. And the screen for media browsing wasn't really enough and I sometimes press the wrong key while typing something.

Playing Order of Chaos that sucks performance and use Internet, never turned off... Heats of course... About display... For me, it's little for games, for Internet browsing it's enough, no problem when typing. About battery life... Awesome... Every Z1C owner love battery life of this phone. I choose this phone because it's small, fits good on one hand and have awesome hardware, if you want a phone to play games and you don't have problems about size, go ahead with LG G2, if you want a phone with good battery life, small with good hardware, Z1C it's for you

If it comes to me, I have encountered no problems with overheating during my 6 months experience with the phone. I would definitely recommend buying z1c. However, for mobile gaming z2 may be a better choice because of the size of the screen.

I wish I could afford it. It's almost 400 euros here and the minimum monthly wage in my country is 260 euros.
I'd go with original Z1 but it has a screen with ****ty viewing angles compared to compact.

And it is vulnerable to bending so be aware of girls sitting on your knees [emoji14]

Actually, I will suggest you to go for LG G2 because 5.2" FHD is much better experiences for media and Internet but we all love the one hand size of Z1c here and don't real care about the screen size.
Z1c is very good performance, both Z1c and G2 are powered by S800 but since Z1c used only 720P screen and spend much smaller resources, the performance and heat problem will better than G2 in reality during gaming.

I played 2 hrs straight and observed that z1 compact maintained at 42 degrees. Not to bad?

Honest opinion about the T2?

I plan to get this for my dad, who is currently using a Windows Phone Lumia 720. He is pretty happy with it per say, but he misses his Xperia X10..
I will be brutally honest, that Android phones arent as smooth as WP. But again, WP have a serious dearth of Apps that Android doesn't. One of the main reasons I am rethinking of getting dad back on Android.
The only thing he can't bear is a slow phone...He is retired and spends 90% of his day on his cell phone. Messaging on WHatsApp, Hike, Facebook and Twitter.
And yes, he was also an avid photographer in the past. So a good camera will be an added advantage.
What do you honestly think about the T2 Ultra. Since it's a 6" display, he can easily read and surf the net on it.
I would love to hear honest opinions about it.
Though I am into rooting and modding devices, I will stick to stock on this one...
On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate t2 Ultra's performance, speed, usability (6" screen) and built quality?
Thanks for reading and replying.
in my opinion this phone is good, with the 13mp primary camera it can shoot a good photo...
and the performance is good...but with root it will be more smoother than before...
furthermore, its good for gaming beacuse the 6'' display...but its a bit slippy that i have to be more careful with it...

Bro, the camera isnt good in this phone, i personally use this and found the camera experience unsatisfying. There are a lot pixels visible in the pics, color reproduction isnt accurate, and its takes plenty of time for taking one pic, considering its a quad core, it shud have been much faster.
The pros of this phone are the screen size and battery backup.
This is my honest opinion.

A nice phone but, camera is unsatisfying, i have 8MP phone beter than this.
opimion
Honestly saying you should have it it has big screen good processor and GPU
it's an all in one package and ya it has a good camera too..
coming from note 2,its has an awesome battery backup, screen and killer looks, but camera is one of the worst I ever used plus 1 gb ram is another issue, sometimes even my keyboard dsnt pop up in browser coz all the ram has been eaten.... go for lg pro 2 instead some sellers are selling it for 28k
Thanks people...I'm listening
Auto-coded on my DROID RaZR!
Here's what I gotta say :
Pros
- Awesome screen size, display quality.
- The ram may be 1gb, but its more or less lag free.
- The camera is pretty awesome in natural lighting conditions.
- Battery life.
- It looks pretty good too.
Cons
- Loudspeaker volume is low.
- Camera doesn't perform that well in artificial lighting conditions. The zoom is a bit problematic too.
- It will feel a little uncomfortable to hold for a few days, because of its size, but after a few days, it'll feel normal.
If you think size and display matter, go for this phone, or you could consider the moto x.
Hope I helped.

I'm coming from Lumia 630, I do missed its ease of use and smoothness but I finally settled to this phone.
I'm looking for a dual Sim device first and foremost, so battery life is a priority even though I yearn for a big screen experience. I bought Asus Zenfone 5 about 2 weeks ago, and the whole android experience is being let down by awful hardware. Very weak GPS, weak WiFi, weak GSM signal, crazy battery life that doesn't even hold a charge for half a day because the device is scrambling for every wireless protocols. Switching to Xperia T2 Ultra isn't as easy for me too... In my country, Sony is notoriously known for very bad after sales service, plus this phone is double the price of the Zenfone 5. I bought it new because nobody is selling it used (the phone isn't exactly a seller).
I had doubts, I kept every bit of plastic covering intact, just in case the phone doesn't work as intended, I'm going to sell it again.
Lo and behold... Strong WiFi signal, quick connecting GPS, stable GSM signal on both SIMs, and the strong battery life makes me extremely happy with my purchase. The big screen might have lower pixel per inch compared to the Zenfone 5, but you won't notice it that much. The media is overblowing the PPI thing, they are accustomed to seeing high end devices screen, but for commoners like us, unless it's very extreme, we won't notice the difference. After the KitKat update, I torture test the device, playing whatever games, go back home, open the browser, Google docs, taking pictures, while Facebook (no messenger) and whatsapp pinging in the background. Some hiccups, but nothing crashing. The games occasionally restart though, due to limited memory, so you might want to limit it to casuals or save a lot when switching apps.
There is one peculiar app that crashed one time, and it's Sony socialife app. I never opened it, but I got a warning the app crashed, might be a background process.
The camera on this phone is disappointing, I could've swore my old Xperia Arc took better picture. Prepare for an overly aggressive image sharpening and slight discoloration. I really don't know why Sony's smartphones cameras are now subpar, up to Xperia S (my last Sony phone before T2), the image was clear and crisp. Might be T2 Ultra is a mainstream high end I mustn't expect much, but when a 3 year old camera phone can do it better, something amiss.
The phone size is just right, I tried Z Ultra before and to me it's a bit too big. I can still put it inside my pants side pocket with ease and can handle it with one hand just fine.
Since my T2 ultra is the dual Sim version, the KitKat update lower the processor speed to 1.2 GHz. Well, at least it's still a quad core and I didn't notice significant slow down on daily usage.
I'm not a power user by far, and so far I only change wallpaper and have Google now and calendar widget with organized icons on my home screen.
Just curious, why didn't you get the Z Ultra for your dad? If you don't need the dual Sim, the Z ultra can be had for a little more than the T2 ultra. In my country, I can get the Z ultra for US $70 more, with free powerbank and free case. Minus the LED flash and the size, everything is better. I need the dual Sim in my case.
Guys guys guys! Just want to thank everyone who bothered to come here and wrote what they felt like!
I am so glad you guys are helping me...
While I am 99% sure I want to get him a T2U, one thing stopping me is the size.
He wants to get it cause he once had a Xperia phone and I sold it cause I wanted to buy me a new phone (stupid and selfish me!). But Now, the best of the lot, in terms of size, spec, price IS the t2U...
I will be grateful for anyone else who thinks they can chime in...
Thanks again to all the wonderful people who replied!
How is your dad doing with the T2 Ultra? I've owned the phone for about 6 months and I'm hating it, it's so slow that I prefer going to my computer to do even basic stuff, such as browsing the web.
Honestly speaking if u buy this phone use it without root or custom things than this phone is great deal
+ battery backup is very good
+topnotch performance
+good display
- Shutter lag (take too much time in taking photos sometime)
-No vivid images like Samsung(there will we no vivid colour in your photos)
-Front camera is bad
-No 4k and real 120 fps video..

3)camera is very very nice in naturally bright conditions.
4)I do lots of basic things on my phone never need of my pc to start.
5)Seriously Battery backup is awesome. I am using this phone by 1 year and some months now and i still get same battery backup.

-Bad-
1)camera is bad in low bright condition.
2)front camera is worst
3)sometimes it doesnt even show keyboard . i experienced this problem in only 1 app.(clash of clans game)
4)After rooting my android it lags more than stock.

$70 for Z Ultra ? Where did you get that? Wish I could get one of those lol.. Well Z Ultra doesn't good in any aspect, the display rather disappointing and not as accurate as what Sony said about wider RGB colours and the display still using TFT and just a bit better than Xperia Z. At least it got Snapdragon 800 and 2 GB with 16 GB of internal storage.
BTW, well I just want to speak up my mind.
The phone is good but not great, you'll get okay performance but don't expect more since this is just a midrange device, one gig of RAM isn't that great tho but well it got the job done. What I hate is the software, Lollipop ruins the camera, it will be a bit greenish while you can get really scary effect from front camera after the update, still SONY doesn't update or fix it. I hope you guys could HELP to COMPLAIN so Sony could hear it and help us.
The camera is okay, beside the cold white balance, you could change it with manual mode.
[Just a TIP for people who found the camera is SLOW when it's getting dark. Go to manual and change the scene to Anti Motion Blur or Night Handheld]
Another problem is the internal, since it only has 8 GB of internal storage, installing too many apps could easily take up the space, well this can be fix with rooting and install Link2SD Pro (YOU NEED FAST MEMORY EXTERNAL). The speaker, it is not bad, it could get loud but distorted.
Well, not everything is bad about the phone, the display is good, it is bright enough but not so bright under the sunlight and the phone is rather light even it is a big phone, put a case on it wouldn't make the phone so heavy tho.
The battery is rather good for a phone with 6 inch screen, but the downside you have to wait 4 hours until it fully charged, at least you could leave it while you're sleeping.
Pros:
- Good camera
- Good display
- Okay performance
- Good battery life
- Light weight
Cons:
- Disappointing speaker
- Low internal memory
- Bad front camera

Now we have BUMP, so very soon LG G3 will be a monster.
If i was you i will not ask that question, just do it.
well my two last device was from sony the xperia z and the mighty z ultra so i don't have the z3 but i knew sony device.
well we can start fron the material a sony is much better
we can go on with stock interface and sony is a lot better
but for all the rest the g3 is a beast
now with the new rom/mod, i use Androidhd 1.6 the 2 major issue of the g3 are solved.
the issue are the battery drain, well is not a powersaver device but with it's fantastic 2k display it's impossible to do better, i'm not an intense user bur from i buy the g3 stock to now with the new 1.6 android hd rom the battery last for me the double and for me is enought to have a nearly 2 days device but this depend to many personal use.
the second issue was the microlag/refresh of the lg stock luncher, well i use apex now not stock but also in stock this issue is gone.
the camera is a good quality smartphone camera, fast as hell in focus and with the right photo app, i use lg xcam, it's a good everyday camera.
the display is fanatstic, when play 2k or 4k video give very rich detail and a great deepness, seems nearly a 3d, you see the different position of the subject as in real life.
the audio quality is good and with viper become very good.
i use the quickcircle case and for me is great idea, you can answer a call, read text message, shoot a photo without opening the case and do more.
i use also the g watch and for me i great duo.
i forget an other isssue that some people report, the signal reception, well for me is not an issue , yes if you look the signal bar it gos from minum to max very often but i haven't had no signal lost or lost call.
so in the end is the best smartphone in value for money and it has the better screen i ever see and when the developer will have the possibility to have some bump image this g3 will be a masterpiece foe a long time
I'd keep z3. I havent yet tested one,but from what ive read:
Better battery
More ram (depending on version of g3).
Better performance
Basically its better and newer device. The big plus of g3 is its screen to size ratio. The biggest downsize for me is QHD. It ruins the experience. To summarize... We should swap!

Well, that's interesting because many bash G3 to the point that it is not up to par with XZ3. They say it is worse than Z3 in battery life and interactive performance.
I would suggest to fast forward browse topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2772242 and seek for Xperia Z3 people's comparisons. Than borrow or buy somewhere G3, flash latest ROM, compare with your Z3 and tell us which phone you'll keep and which you return.

I heard the battery life from the G3 is now close to the one from Z2/Z3 ?
If it lasts a day its okay for me
How is the handling of the phone without a case ?
The problem with the Z3, its really SLIPPERY like with a cable connect it fell from my table after some minutes i didnt even notice it till it made big bump noise
thx for all the answers
I got the LG G3 32 GB Titan Grey now
I wold have kept the Z3 for the simple reason it's newer and it would technically get more support if you wished to keep it for longer.
What's your opinion on the g3?

I found a guy like in the next city he gave me LG G3, Wireless LG Thing to Charge, Circle Case with QI and everything sealed so only phone reset and good to go

Too late, but thanks
Had the Z3 for a couple weeks and swapped it for an LG G3...a few things I noticed...
Z3 has awesome battery...I could
go 2 nights without charging and still by the 3rd day I was on 30% with moderate usage.
Z3 build quality is a lot better...fit and form top class...and the screen is really nice, especially outdoors
Z3 interface is FAST. Butter smooth. G3 is a little bit laggy and I noticed it more coming from a Z3 but doesn't really bother me now.
Z3 cons - I didn't like the long shape and top bottom bezels...way too big...speakers are a bit quiet too but it is stereo and front facing.
Z3 - there was (and currently still is) no supported root for it without loosing your DRM keys. Without the DRM keys your low light camera performance is terrible. Not worth it for me.
Z3 is a lot more pricier... Although waterproof I found it more annoying - as the flaps to charge via micro usb, you have to keep doing/undoing.
LG G3
A lot easier to MOD/root/update (currently). I like the size a lot better, more natural shape. Fits better in hand.
With some tweaking LG battery not *too* bad though, and you get the spare battery swap out option. I might be able to push 2 days with the G3.
Screen quality not as good as the Z3 (esp. outdoors), but still decent...I love the thin bezels and design of the G3.
Honestly I can't really notice the QHD resolution difference but I notice more the bigger sized screen with better ratio.
G3 is a fair cheaper for IMO as good a handset (as good as with different positives and negatives compared to Z3)

Your just right about EVERY fckn point here !
I had a magnetic cable for Z3 so no problem opening the flap
and screen is not as bright on the Z3 but still okay to use...
G3 Lags but next updates will help
BUT i have reception problems with G3 is there an update/fix for that ? im on L FW
I had the same dilemma, especially considering how much cheaper the G3 is right now. Honestly though, I know they improved the UI on the G3 but on my LG 8.3 pad it is just a cluttered mess.

[Q] Z1 compact or s5 mini? Please read!

Hi
I'm aware there is already a similar thread but I wanted some answers more specific to my needs and to current prices. I recently had my uninsured S5 stolen and I'm stuck in a contract so I need to buy a mid-range phone which is going to last me another 16 months or so without feeling too outdated. I want a smaller handset as I was getting sick of the larger phones. My budget stretches to about £270 for which both the S5 mini and the Z1 compact are currently priced. Unfortunately I can't stretch to the z3 compact price. I want to know which phone has the better camera, as this is one of the main selling points for me. I know that neither will match up to the s5 camera. On paper the z1 compact has the best camera, but I've seen a few posts saying it is actually disappointing and often freezes. The S5 minis camera seems to get fairly positive reviews despite being only 8MP. I'm no pro photographer so will I even be able to tell the difference?!
I don't care about the samsungs gimmicks (heart rate sensor, fingerprint scanner etc.) and also don't mind touchwhiz too much. I do like the fact it has a removable battery as I often carry a spare, but maybe the sony battery is miles better anyway?
I'm also wary about changing to Sony. I've had Samsungs for years and they've never broken, apart from when I dropped them. Samsung quickly replaced them for me free of charge after some persuasion it wasn't my fault! I've seen a lot of posts questioning the z1 compacts reliability, and a few more claiming sony aren't too good at dealing with replacements etc. Also slightly wary about the glass back cracking? Though I admit the Sony looks better.
I've never rooted or flashed custom ROMs or anything so I'm probably in the wrong forum (sorry!) but this seems to be the most active phone forum I could find. I'm not completely opposed to rooting etc if it would be really beneficial, though again, I'm wary!
Should point out that I don't game much on mobile, I just like a smooth, reliable experience for browsing internet, watching youtube, using facebook, whatsapp, reddit etc, and a good reliable camera.
So basically, do I play it safe and stick with Samsung, better screen, decent camera, pics may even look better on the better screen, though the phone may be slightly slower? Or do I go for the z1 despite my reliability concerns?! Is rooting going to change the decision between the two??
Thanks, and sorry for the long post! Appreciate your answers, if I get any! :good:
Anyone?!
Get the sony they beat samsung hands down
If u ar a samsung fan then go for s5 mini
But from the spec s5 mini is no where compared to z1c
Thanks for the replies. Think I'm leaning towards the Sony, think I'm just wary that its more likely to break.... quite fancy a change from the samsung though

If you don't really need a very fast CPU/GPU and the 512MB more memory. Actually, I would recommend you to stick with Samsung.
S5 Mini got 0.2" larger screen with physical key so actually it's about 0.35" larger, the battery is 200mah smaller capacity on S5 mini but battery switchable. The image quality is better on Z1c but focus is bad, so it is a 50/50. The S800 CPU on Z1c is like 2x ~ 3x raw performance plus there are 512MB ram more, it really depends if you are going to run some big 3D games or heavily multi-tasking then you need it. The phone design is also more pretty on Z1c and there are more mods(like 4K video) and custom roms for Z1c but you'll need to root.
If you just run some basic apps and normal gaming, then I think S5 mini with larger screen and spare battery is more better for you.

Disclaimer: You are asking this on the Z1 Compact sub-forum, of course you will get biased answers here but I will try to stay objective.
First up the S5 Mini comes with either an Exynos 3 processor or a Snapdragon 400, if you get the Exynos variant there will be very little to no community support for it, meaning once Samsung drops support for it you won't be able to get community updates through CyanogenMod or such for it, you'll be stuck with whatever version of Android Samsung leaves you with, as opposed to the Z1 Compact which I'm expecting to live for a long time provided it physically holds together.
Z1 Compact back is plastic, not glass. I can't really say about drops and screen cracks, but I have been told this is one of the areas the Z3 Compact improves on, I've dropped mine a few times and it's fine so far.
The camera is fine, it isn't the best, but it's certainly not bad. On Sony ROMs it produces very good pictures. On non-Sony ROMs the pictures are not as good, but still ok.
As far as performance goes there's no comparison, the Z1 Compact thrashes both variants of the S5 Mini. I haven't used the S5 Mini myself, so I can't comment on its battery, but I can tell you for sure that the Z1 Compact will without a doubt last you at the very least one full day of quite heavy usage. If you're not a heavy user as you claim, then it will most likely last you 2 full days, perhaps requiring you to activate stamina mode on day 2. This will improve even more with Lollipop.
If you've been using Samsungs for a while then yes, colours will look dull at first on the Sony since Samsung over-saturates their screens providing very vivid (but unnatural) colours, but I can guarantee you that the Sony screen is not bad, in fact, it is really very good, which you'll see once you've gotten used to non-Samsung screens.
I have owned iPhones (original, 3GS, 4S), HTCs (3 or 4 over the years, last one was the One X, loved it, but when the screen broke I got the S3 LTE...), Samsung (S3 LTE, hated its guts, I don't know how you can stand TouchWiz), Motorola and a few Sonys. Performance and features aside, the Z1 Compact is the best phone I have owned hands down. It's the right size for me, it's not too heavy and not too light either, battery life is excellent even for a heavy user like myself, usually at about 40-50% at the end of the day.
Oh and don't forget the Z1 Compact is waterproof as well, very useful feature!
...Sorry for the long reply hehe.

Anyone here came from Sony Z3?

Came from Z3 compact, and, yes, more than worth it. Great phone the G4.

Smoother, better screen, battery life similar in my usage situation (plus battery is swappable), much, much better camera (auto and manual).

Coming from Z3 to G4 from 3 weeks
Z3 with international firmware:
- Screen is less bright (less nits) than Z3 and it is difficult to read text under sunlight
- Audio is louder than dual channel in Z3
- Battery is very weak, it is the phone that lasts me less than other I had (Z3 and Note 4 were beasts in battery life)
- Camera is very very good, much better than Z3 BUT photos are oversharpened and there's not a good timeshift or timelapse
- Ergonomy is very good, Z3 was more little to handle but G4 wins
- Smoothness is better in G4 than Z3 but both are slower than other phones I tried (1+1, Nexus 5, Xiaomi Mi4, HTC M8 (the best))
Change from Z3 to G4 if you would take better photos and listen to music in the bathroom (where sound power is the best feature you need).
I used the Z3 (D6603) previously. "Is it worth it" is a bit subjective, but here's my two cents anyway.
I much prefer the look and feel of the Z3 to the G4. The Z3 is a very attractive device, and the build feels very solid in your hands. The G4 feels like any other plastic device you've ever held. If you've played with a Samsung device prior to the GS6, then you know how the G4 feels. The leather back helps a bit, but it still doesn't make me feel like I'm holding $500 in my hand.
I like the camera, and I find that the camera is better than the Z3. There are far more options in manual mode, and the Auto mode doesn't take shots that look like they were from a 2010 flip phone, like the Z3. If you aren't using Manual Mode on the Z3, you are pretty much guaranteeing a terrible picture. The G4 offers a lot more in the way of lighting adjustments, exposure settings, and balancing options. There's also RAW support too, if you're into that.
Software wise, LG's skin is pretty ugly, and I wish they would just stop. Sony did a pretty good job of keeping things reasonable and attractive with their skin. Neither one is a lightweight skin, and there are heavy modifications to the Android framework on either side. This mostly affects root and Xposed options in regards to what works and what doesn't.
In terms of performance, I'd say the G4 is in the lead, but this isn't an apples to apples comparison, but the G4 is clearly a faster device. I prefer the thermal management on the G4 over the Z3, which heats up to uncomfortable levels when under pressure. I like that I can record more than 5 minutes of 4K video with the G4 without the camera app shutting down. I do miss the waterproofing of the Z3, and I actually brought my Z3 with me on a trip recently where I knew there would be splashing. I would have needed to keep the G4 in a plastic bag or something.
The battery life on the G4 is pathetic compared to the Z3. I was getting over 5 hours of screen time with no issues on the Z3, and I'd put it on the charger at night with 40% or so left. The G4 struggles to make it through the day with a full charge and 2-3 hours screen time. This isn't really bad battery life. It's more like average, but I was spoiled with the Z3. Having a spare battery to swap into the G4 is handy to fix this, though I'd rather that I didn't have to.
Overall, I wouldn't go so far as to say that I'm elated over the change, but it's a situation where you win some and you lose some. My opinion is "meh".
I came from z3 international.
Camera is a big plus. However the battery life is really not as good as the Z3, also Z3 software is closer to stock.
G4 feels better in the hand though - so I actually like it a fair bit more than my z3.

From dual sim Z3, worthy yes in terms of battery life and screen on time but nothing else... Lg g4 is an upgrade in everything except for the battery section.
Still I prefer having a removable battery so it works for me ?

Reasons to buy this phone over the X Performance?

I really like the XA1 look, but is there a reason I should buy this phone over the X Performance? The XP is older, but has better specs and is about the same price. Add the XZ to the list too. It's $449. XA1 Ultra is $399 usd.
The gorgeous big screen?
And it's the best looking phone i have ever seen, and build quality is high. The shape makes it like your holding a piece of solit brick/plank, love this.
I mean if you want your phone to look good this is it.
I am getting a case for it. Thw material they used to make this is very good. I have the white one.
Also be aware that the sound is gonna be low from the headphones you might get upset if you like your music loud. As i said the screen is very beautiful. It rekinded me og Galaxy s8 screen. The blacks are superb. I work in a electronics shop and pretty much used every phone in existance. Camera is good but i dont know much about that other phone.
Software wise it holds up pretty well, its snappy considering it doesnt have stock android. Heck my previous phone that has stock android, i bought for $35, and is snapier/faster, that tells you something. Its not horrible like Samsung's touchwiz.
Yeap all about the screen. Just picked up a ultra in white today and I am glad to have a 6inch screen again. Will have to wait and see if I continue to like it though. My p10 plus battery is horrible, u11 is damn nice but sometimes I want a headphone jack. G6 is great but wish the camera was faster

Spec isn't everything, especially when constrained by battery life. For someone who plays like only 2d game, or Asphalt/Riptide game, the XA1 Ultra will play fine for most.
The XA1 ultra battery even tho small, it can do better than expected. I'm not sure how Sony can pull this (as i can imagine screen will eat the battery more than a CPU fabrication factor), but that's the fact.

Battery life depends on how much you use the GPS, data etc. I've noticed that while I have unnecessary pre-installed apps disabled, and active WiFi scan off the battery seems to do well. But, if I use any social media apps (which I never do) the battery life goes pretty quick. Google now is also a battery killer ( nothing new) I'm debating rooting this device as I've yet to see what the custom ROMs have in the way of privacy guard and app control
I use social media pretty heavily, plus streaming the news almost all day long + Spotify... still get killer batt time. Also I charge it whenever I get into the car. Managed to get close to 100% after using the phone since 4AM till 3:30PM even throwing a 25-min Facebook Live, being in the car maybe for an hour all in all.

I think my biggest mistake was going for the Xperia X as at the time didn't know there was an X Performance ? lol but I've just upgraded from the X to the XA1 Ultra purely for the big screen and borderless display, putting it next to the X belittles it a lot but the colours on the X's display are much much more vibrant and colourful. The colours on the XA1 Ultra look a lot more dull but overall performance for me is great, the selfie camera can be rather laggy at times but it's a bonus having front flash (that also interested me) in my opinion.
Also, my other downpoint with the X was tempered glass screen protectors not having full coverage and leaving a thick bubble around the edge, I've just got some full coverage protectors for the XA1 Ultra and they're absolutely awesome.

Very strange, I've seen and used around three different XA1 Ultra's and the screen is fantastic, being even better and more colourful than my own 50'' 4K screen!
All reviews even say the screen on the XA1 is far better than other Sony flagships including the XZ Premium. I strongly agree.
Issue is the white balance may need calibrating as mine did. After calibration, WOW.
Try these settings and let me know if you see any improvement.

White balance isn't the issue for me, I've fiddled around with it and it doesn't make a dramatic difference.
What I'm trying to get across is that when I have the devices side by side (both of them un-edited white balance, and super vivid mode on) you can really see more colour within the Xperia X screen and quite a few friends/family have also agreed with me. I thought it was just my screen so went to a local shop and put my X & XA1 U next to their XA1 U and it looked exactly the same.
I'm not trying to slate the device, I'm just simply stating that the colours on my X are MUCH more vibrant but I still love the XA1 U. Maybe it's just change getting at me lol.
Also, Xperia X has 441ppi (1920x1080) whereas the XA1 Ultra has 367 ppi (1920x1080).
This is one of my favorite phones of all time, and I'm. The type that has a new phone every year. Great display and an amazing battery for a 6 inch screen. I'm also a flashaholic and even though we don't have a custom ROM yet I am seriously loving even the stock experience. Sony did it right with this phone, get it you won't regret it. Heck I'm turning my gaming computer and turning it into a development system just because I love this phone so much... Give it two weeks and I'll be making my first rom(in the middle of moving or it would be sooner)
lovely thread. Very informative. Keep it up. Just one question: Are we getting Android O(reo)?
