Can't Flash to Stock. Memory Error. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hi again guys. Been a while. As everyone always says on here, I apologize if this has already been covered, but I looked around and couldn't find a resolution.
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy s4 (obviously). SGH-M919
Android version 4.2.2 I believe. It wasn't updated to kit-kat or anything current bc I rooted it the day I bought it 2 years ago.
The problem was created when I was attempting to move apps from internal memory to my sdcard.
The best method I found online used an app called FolderMount.
When I opened the app it stated that a patch was necessary in order for it to work...which "succeeded"....to brick my phone.
Once I exited the app, my phone didn't recognize any files that were saved or have the ability to open any Samsung or Google apps whatsoever. They all criticaled. Even Gallery wouldn't load. Also, Swiftkey no longer found language packs/had the ability to download new packs.
My Computer recognized the device still, but it only showed a few MB of storage and an empty SD card.
I tried restoring to factory conditions 3x. It removed everything, but still failed to recognized the internal memory and still wouldn't run the google/samsung apps.
At that point I tried to flash back to stock with Odin. Which I had done initially 2 years ago when I was rooting phone.
Now I'm stuck at an error screen that reads : Firmware upgrade encountered and issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I tried Kies. The Kies 3.0 doesn't support the Galaxy S4 and the old version won't connect with my device. I was going to attempt their emergency firmware recovery wizard.
Please keep in mind that I have googled/youtubed every option I could find and have had no success. I'm not just a person who put 30 seconds of research into this and then decided to complain on a forum without putting some time into fixing this issue.
I'm stuck and have no idea what to do at this point. It's hard to find a solution for a phone that is virtually considered old tech/obsolete.
Any help is appreciated. I have spent the entire day on this and am pretty depressed about it. My only optimism is that I know some people on this forum know what they are talking about The workweek is approaching and I need to have my phone operational.
Thanks!
-Garrett

Have you tried contacting the Foldermount developers for any help or feedback?
What folders where you moving?
Can you get to settings and try a factory reset?
Pp.

I have not contacted the developers (as the problem happened this morning) and I couldn't use my phone to even find them. I guess I could look them up on my PC. And no I can't go to settings. I can't get to any different screen other than the error message that I have. I turn my phone on and it immediately goes to this: http://postimg.org/image/8he6jagx3/
That's literally the ONLY screen I can access. I can't get to the download boot screen or safe mode with the button shortcuts. No idea what to do, bc the phone isn't broken...It's not a hardware issue. It's a firmware problem that a lot of ppl have had, but I can't find a solution that actually works. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to try anything
Here is a link to the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.fmount&hl=en
(Obvious....but I would recommend that no one try it out, or you might end up where I am.)
EDIT: I posted a review to the developers. Several people had the exact same problem. I will post their reviews below:

Fail After patching and reboot my phone stopped woking...is there any way to unpatch?

Serious problem with in-app purchase. I bought it a few version ago. Now, it says it cannot connect to G.Play so no premium features are available. Asked dev to repair it. No answer.

bricked my sd card I don't why I lost my all file from sd..
Faizan Zafar
DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!! It deleted some important files in sdcard and did not do what it was made for.
Does this shed any light on a potential solution?
By the way, here is a post about FolderMount from this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192122
That's actually how I found it initially.

Suspect that some important system ui files got moved from folders that should not had been messed with.
While on firmware update screen try connecting with Odin running, it should show up in Odin, flash stock firmware.
Make sure you have a current Odin like 3.07 or higher.

That is what I've been trying to do since that error screen popped up.
I'm using Odin 3.07. If I can't get the phone into Download Mode it won't work.
It fails every time I've tried. I don't even have an idea as for what to try next.

May sound stupid but did you try to power the device off completly then hold vol down then plug into computer. With Odin running of course. Also try Odin 3.09, prolly won't make a differnece but its the one ive been using and it can't hurt at this point. Good luck.

Mabey since your computer recognizes the device in download you could (google) manually "ADB/fastboot?" push system boot bootloader etc. Or try to Odin/adb a custom recovery then DL a 4.4.2 or newer custom/modded stock ROM and flash away. Just make sure you have proper modem etc.

ICS official release, what can I do with this .tar file?

Hi all,
So I got the txt message from AT&T about upgrade available.
So I opened Keis and let it update. (I have a whole seperate issue with Kies; it will only read my Glide about 10% of the time).
Once I FINALLY got it to connect to my phone, I began the update process. FAIL
fail, fail, fail, 4 hours of fail.
i've tried every recommendation from every post i';ve come across, including uninstalling keis, running reg cleaner, rebooting, reinstalling.
i've trie 3 diff version of the samsung usb driver program, whatever u search for on this forum and google, i've tried it.
The best I have gotten is for Kies to actually recognize my phone and begin the update process, a few times, I saw no progress bar on the phone and the Kies window stayed on 0%.
The first time I actually sw a progress bar on my phone, it moved about 1/8th of an inch and stopped. I left if overnight, and when I got up this morning, it was the same.
So again today, on a different computer, I created a new user profile and tried some more; nada.
So I'm so desperate for ICS on this phone, I tried using that one click release of the leaked ICS, same thing. several times of not recognizing the phone, then finally
the progress bar on the phone moved a little bit, so I left it for over an hour and it didn't move.
At least this time, I could see that it was hung on the bootloader part.
I've tried this on two diff Win7 x64 machines and an XP pro machine; all the same results.
interesting part:
Once last night, I kept my temp folder open while Kies was doing it's thing, and I grabbed this file:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B_Sgf7j8WktibEJ4NXVva08zYmM
(i couldn't find any free file share sites that would let me upload a file this big.)
This is the actual ROM (or whatever you would call it)
Kies downloaded a file and named it whatever.tmp, as soon as I saw it, I copied it and extracted the contents with uniextract - that is where I got this .tar file from.
So what can I do with this file to install ICS on my phone?
I did try renaming it update.zip and copying it to my sdcard, I tried to "install update from sdcard", but I get an error about it not being signed.
For anyone who doesn't want to download a 600+MB file, this is what's inside it:
boot.img
cache.img
factoryfs.img
hidden.img
modem.bin
recovery.img
Not too sure if this belongs in development. It's a question, but the file is development purposes . Anyway you can use boot.img and a system dump of the official ICS to make a flashable zip, or theme some system apps, etc. The possibilites are endless

You should be able to flash that with ODIN
Fact, this is the same file I downloaded from http://www.hotfile.com/dl/170800037/7fd1f5e/I927UCLH2_I927ATTLH2_ATT.zip.html
Worked flashing with ODIN on a unlocked Rogers I927R

Power Phone into DOWNLOAD MODE, Pressing POWER and VOLUME UP till it boots
Using ODIN 1.85
wait for phone to appear
Uncheck F. Reset Time (only AUTO REBOOT should be checked)
Check the box next to PDA
using the PDA button select the .tar file
Press start, sit back and drink a beer
Then apply CWM I prefer 5.0.27 "EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AS YOU INSTALLED THE ROM WITH ODIN" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458153 (it's not touch, but it keeps backups in img form rather than the .blob like CWM6. just make's it easier to handle backups.
In CWM "If you want root", apply http://downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip
In CWM apply the LH2 Keyboard backlight fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1848433
Its running pretty smooth so far, no major issues to report: but I had the camera giving me issues till I cleared data form the app. still gave a few stutters then the whole phone started running well after a few reboots and some settling time.

Thanks for you replies. I appreciate it very much.
(here's something weird, when viewing post in thread, it stops after the word beer. I didn't see the other stuff until I clicked reply :-/ )
unfortunately, it's doing the same thing as before... ODIN is stuck on boot.img for about ten minutes now
any thoughts.... anyone?
I want ICS on this phone SO bad.
( would it be related to the fact that I substituted beer for southern comfort? )
A few posts up I posted a link to a download of the new update that is what I used It worked perfectly. Extract from the zip and you'll have a .tar.md5 file which just makes ODIN Check the md5 sum before flashing

I checked your files md5 sum to the .tar file I used, and they are the same cbd0c11c1aa578f6bcdb06099b5d3102 so you should be good to go flashing the .tar file you captured during the keis install. Maybe try flashing CWM first boot into it and format everything then try installing the rom via ODIN. Try a new cable and/or make sure the phone is plugged into a usb plug in the rear of the computer.

That is a real bummer, I'm sorry it didn't work for you. It should only take a few minutes, I don't have any other ideas other than maybe try flashing the UCLG9 leak then re-trying to flash your tar file. The leak contains a new bootloader, I had flashed that a few weeks prior to the new update.
Also did you try flashing CWM with Odin just to see if it would flash seems like it's probably a computer problem rather then your phone.

Hello,
Sorry to 'thread-jack' but hopefully a minor annoyance.
Can someone post just the 'modem.bin' file from the I927UCLH2 update?
FYI, in hopes of enabling 3G/HSPA voice calling on Galaxy Tab 10.1..
Using European Tegra 2 based phone modem (from I9103), 2G voice calling works.
Trying to avoid downloading the entire .tar for one file =p
To clarify - European Tab 10.1 users are fine; AT&T and Rogers Tab 10.1 users can currently use 2G only.
T-Mobile - apparently 'their' phone counterpart uses a combo of 2 modem-related files?
But I digress... (don't think I can embed links yet) thread is in Tab 10.1 Dev forum.
Thank you!

i did try flashing the CWM and it did the same thing stalling after about one second into it, same with UCLG9 leak one-click executable. (at least using that told me it was stuck on trying to flash the boot image)
I'm about to build a fresh win7 x86 VM with nothing but .net and VC++ runtime installed, to rule out both my living room and home office comps as the problem.
if it still don't work, the i'll build a fresh ubuntu VM and try it with heindall
Thank you, enewman17, for all your help. it is really appreciated. :good:
if it still don't work, i will call Samsung and demand a replacement phone.

Settings --> Back up and reset ---> Factory data Reset.....As it states this erases all data on the phone.
I'm getting it to boot up after cwmr but it hangs on the installing applications screen. Left it for an hour and still the same
are you kidding me?!?!
ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!
ok, so here's what finally worked:
using a different USB cable that i found laying around.
for all of samsung's rhetoric about "only use the oem data cable" "never use anything but the oem data cable" "blah blah oem usb cable blah blah"
after trying this on like 6 different computers all with same results, i just found a usb cable laying around at work and decided to try it, just for the heck of it - IT DIDNT TAKE 5 MINUTES TO FLASH!
I AM NOW ICE CREAM SANDWICH!
seriously, FOUR days of banging my head on the wall, and it was the freaking OEM data cable that was the problem.

Same flash problem here, same exact solution. Flimsy micro-USB cable was the culprit. ODIN would get partially through and almost always fail during SetupConnection or Initialzation or NAND Write Start. Wasted about 12 hours testing a dozen possible causes. Changed to the thicker OEM cord and BAM!
Thanks!!
Funnny what a cable could do lol

Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999N Stuck on BootScreen

I posted my problem on androidcentral earlier today, I'm not progressing anywhere with my situation, I've copied my original posts with some edits here. If you need more information for helping me to resolve this dilemma, ask right away.
I'm in deep****. It started when i tried changing the fonts on my galaxy s3, simple install and reboot. Now when it rebooted it got stuck on the Metro PCS logo screen, I turned it off and turned it on again, and same problem. Then I tried flashing my g3 with odin it said pass, but now my model number has disappeared from the samsung boot screen and it still has the same problem prior; before it said Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999N, but now it just shows Samsung Galaxy S3. Prior to all this my phone was already rooted. I'm a noob and I need help. All the details I remember about my phone is that the carrier is Metro PCS, the model is SGH-T999N (a t-mobile variant) and the OS was Jellybean 4.1.2.
Thankyou for reading, please reply soon its urgent.
*Extra notes, I tried booting it up into recovery mode it shows splash screen for a brief moment and then completely turns off. It is still able to go in to download mode, also when the phone is completely off and charged in, the battery charging animation is still normal/unchanged before all this happened.
-I've also tried using GS3 Toolkit, but I really don't know which build to use for my predicament, I've tried using the t-mobile SGH-T999 builds but theyre not working at all, just adding to my flashcount.
*Additional notes, when in download mode the information at the top left corner reads as:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-T999N
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (3 counts)
CUSTOM BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE

Isn't that only on verizon's variants? I don't remember anything having to do with the bootloader, but I did successfully root my phone, so maybe I did, I'm not completely sure.
*Edit, Could you also give me a detailed guide as to how I could reset it with Kies? I'm not sure if it will work or not, because in my first postt, if it wasn't clear, I think I used the wrong .tar which made the model number under the samsung boot screen, disappear.

If you are still able to get into Download mode, flash back to stock using @DocHoliday77 guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2308514
No, sorry man but I'm pretty sure you bricked it. There us no firmware available for the T999N yet. You flashed T999 firmware.
In the future, if you get stuck during boot, factory reset will almost always fix it.
I have an image that I've got to pass to KAsp3rd that he can hopefully use to create a debrick method for the T999N. I'll send it to him in a few min. But once he's got it ready, it should fix you up....hopefully! I've also just received the files I need to create a stock Rom and Odin firmware for it. I'll try to get it all together and will let you know.
In the meantime check his thread, it's stickied in development.
Sent from my SGH-T999L using Tapatalk 4
Actually, @KAsp3rd already has the T999N image. Mustve forgot or missed it or something! Anyway, he may already have the other partitions that were flashed, and if so he should already have everything you need to get working again. *Edit, for the list of requirements do I need both the Linux Live Disc and the Linux Virtual Machine? Or is it either or? Also I have an 8gb Micro SD would that suffice? or does it absolutely have to be 16gb+?

It is either or on the Linux and it has to be 16G or greater. We have tested on 4 and 8gb and they both failed

Okay so just to be clear, cause I always jump to conclusions and get confused x.x, I can run a Linux Virtual Machine on my Windows 7 laptop? And I'll stop by staples later today and get a new micro sd.

You can run a VM or boot to a "Live" version that has a Persistence mode on a USB Stick. UNETBootin or LiLi (LinuxLive USB) both work great for this making the Live USB images of major distros, such as Ubuntu (and variants).

Yes that is correct. If you watch the video in my thread I did the linux portion in a VM. There apparently are windows tools out there for properly managing .img files however I've not used any so therefore cannot recommend any.

Ok, I guess I might be jumping in between conversations but I guess I need help with almost the same thing that happened with OP.

I didn't try to root it yet, though i would love to, and I am new to a few jargon here.
Please help me out guys.. @KAsp3rd: you mentioned you had a forum to debrick or unbrick the phone. I am not sure whether I bricked my phone or not, but I would like to give it a read at least. Can you please mention the link here. Thanks.
Also, I trying the recovery mode (Home+volume up+power) but it doesn't come up. It just vibrates and the screen remains blank.
I try the download mode (Home+volume down+power) and it shows up with the option to continue to cancel.
I think I will add this info in my original post as well.
Please see if any of you could help me with it.
Thanks.

Can you post exactly the link that you flashed on your phone? Sounds like you might have done the same thing that the OP did and flashed a bad kernel
t999N
Ive apparently flashed T999L firmware to my gfs T999N I just got her and am reduced to edge, everything else is working great but I've hit a wall here and want to either flash back to stock or fix the issue. Carrier is Metro.
I used root66 method for the T999L described in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43772039&highlight=t999n#post43772039
and flashed this file
http://sourceforge.net/projects/d2ltetmo/files/Use In Odin/MB7system.tar.md5.7z/download
From what I now gather I shouldn't have done this and now cannot find a way to get back to stock.
I found this in my searches but I don't know how / if I can use the files to restore,

Please excuse my noobness. Any help would be uber appreciated.
Thanks.

Quick bit of advice....only post in one thread. When people repost their issue in multiple threads it makes it difficult to keep up with what's been done, what's been asked/answered, etc.
And The last link you posted is just the kernel source, nothing more. It won't help.

[Q] Boot Loop/Stock firmware/I seriously need help PLEASE!!!!

Hello all *waves*
This is my very first post although I have used this site countless times. I'm just going to jump right to it because I seriously need some help!
I am trying to fix my SGH-M919 (Tmobile S4) that just suddenly stopped working one day. I have tried EVERYTHING! Kies, custom roms, Odin but my phone still will not load past the Samsung logo. It will boot into recovery (TWRP) and Download mode. I know that using Kies is the quick fix but (LUCKY ME...not) my phone is one of the few phones tmobile/Samsung sent out with no S/N on the sticker under the battery. Since I cant get into my phone I cant get the S/N and I do not have the box anymore.
I have tried using the many sgh-m919 Stock Rom files online, including this site, but nothing is working. When I spend hours downloading them and begin to use them in odin, Odin doesn't load the file for me to flash.
I know I am using Odin correctly because I have done it successfully countless times in the past. I have also tried EVERY download file out there, but I can't find a good one that I can flash in Odin. I have also tried all of the guides on this site several times so please don't redirect me to them, because I have seriously and correctly tried them all. If you have any suggestion please let me know. I can't afford the 161.00 Samsung is requiring or the 175 warranty fee tmobile is charging. PLEASE HELP.
And if some has a good copy of the Stock Rom for SGH-M919 that they would be willing to email me I would FOREVER be greatful!
also my sdcard and battery are not the issue.... tried that too
Thanks,
Nikki
Were there any symptoms or anything you may have done out of the ordinary that might or might not have caused the problem? By saying that odin will not load files, is there an error message or what exactly do you mean by that? And what version odin are you using?

I don't know if its something I have done wrong or not. I followed all of the instructions to the letter. I think (but am not sure) that I don't have a usable copy of the Stock Firmware.
I am using v3.10 but I have tried them all.
When I click on AP in Odin, then click on the file I am sent back to Odin, but the file (and filename) doesn't appear in the AP box like normal.
The stock firmware files take a while for odin to validate md5 check I think. Select your firmware file in Odin's selector, then wait a few mins for bit to process before giving up. This time lag surprised me first time I flashed stock firmware. Big file means longer wait!

Try different version of odin. Even if the file was bad, it would say something
Try a different pc.

s3 ?bricked? STUCK/LOOP ON DOWNLOAD MODE ONLY

i have my friends phone and he's galaxy s3 is stuck on download mode and its looping there everytime
it happened out of nowhere, he wasn't playing around with it it just happened
now its stuck on downloading and wont go to recovery for me to initialize the device through kies or smartswitch
NO ACCESS TO RECOVERY MODE AT ALLL
i tried numerous ways to retrieve the phone into working condition but no success at all
thru odin i get the pit error and when i place a pit to repartititon with the stock tar file or the cwm recovery tar i failed
it says complete write operation failed and it takes a long time to set up connection with the device before showing me the fail
its a tmobile sgh-t999 prob 16 gb
any genius here got any ideas?
What firmware build was on the device and what build did you try to flash using Odin?
Did you try different versions of odin?
Different driver versions?
Different USB cable?
Different USB port?
If kies is installed on the computer, get rid of it. It interferes with Odin.
If none of that helps it may be a hardware failure.

The same thing has happened to my wife's phone and I have done almost the same steps to fix it with similar results.
If you tried everything I mentioned and are sure you weren't flashing an older firmware build (only after 4.3), then theres a good chance it's a hardware failure, probably with the memory.

OK, uninstalled Kies and tried to flash T999UVUEOH1_T999TMBEOH1_TMB rom with odin again and got there is no pit partition error. Would post some pictures of the boot screen and a screenshot of the odin program but need 10 posts. Well not sure what version was on phone before all this happened.) Also the ODIN bootloader screen says SYSTEM STATUS: NONE Warrenty Bit: 0 BOOTLOADER AP S?AEV: 1 among other things...forgot to mention I used ODIN v3.10.6 because v3.10.7 gave me a win32 error when I tried to run it on my Windows XP PC.
Here's my suggestion to at least get the phone running a ROM:
download Odin 3.07 from here: https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=...5QWImOPDJboTA_V3D5S9eA&bvm=bv.107763241,d.dmo
download the tar version of TWRP 2.8.6.0 from here: https://dl.twrp.me/d2tmo/
download the latest cm12.1 for the phone from here and save it to a micro SD card: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2tmo&type=nightly
place the micro SD card into the phone;
boot the phone into download mode;
open Odin 3.07 and uncheck everything except f. reset time;
click on PDA and browse to the tar TWRP file and select it;
connect the phone and it should show up as a com port in Odin;
flash TWRP;
when you see the word RESET in the status window, remove the USB cable, remove the battery, replace the battery, use the button combination to get into recovery which should now be TWRP;
perform a full wipe of system, data, and cache;
flash CM12.1 from the micro SD card;
reboot the phone.
Hopefully, the above steps will get the phone booted so you can confirm the installed bootloader and modem.
Followed your guide step by step but flash failed in odin Get Pit for mapping..
There is no PIT partition.
All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1):crying: BTW thank for all your help.
You got the pit error flashing twrp in Odin? Any other errors? What model number is shown at the top of the screen when the phone is in download mode?
The only times I've encountered this type of behavior it turned out to be a hardware failure (memory). If that is indeed the case here, I'm afraid there won't be much you can do for it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should just give up, but you should probably at least start looking at other options.
The main reasons I believe this to be the case are
1. It just died while nothing was being done (not being used)
2. Pit errors indicate either the partition table has been corrupted, or the partitions themselves have. Because it cannot detect any system (SYSTEM STATUS: NONE), it's more likely to be the partitions them selves, not the partition information table (pit).
Something else that doesn't look good, (but that I've never seen before) is the S?AEV. It should be SWREV. (Software Revision). It may mean nothing, but I've never seen it before so I thought I'd point it out.
As I said, I'm not saying you should give up yet. I've been wrong before and I'd hope to be again in this case. But I wouldn't put too much more time and effort into it as I've never seen one of these types of failures restored. They are pretty rare, but they do happen.
My best suggestion at this point is to start looking into replacing either the motherboard or the device. Motherboards can be found for reasonable prices, but you do have to be careful when buying one. (Let us know if you want to do this and we'll give you some tips on what to look for).
I'm sorry that this happened and that there doesn't seem to be much I can do to help. If you had any important data (pics or whatever), there's a small chance it can still be recovered. Don't get your hopes up too much for it, but using ADB while in download mode MIGHT allow you to copy your stuff to the computer. I can't remember if this can be done from download mode though, and if the data partition is also hosed you'd be out of luck there anyway.
If i think of anything else you can try, I'll certainly let you know. Audit13 might have a few ideas you can try too. As I said though, you should also start looking into other options. Let us know what you want to do and we'll continue to help as best as we can!

Wow, thanks Doc for replying. I was hopeful for a better result. BTW it does say SWREV I just couldn't quite make out the W at the time so I put ? to indicate that. I do have a little experience working on these phones (replaced the entire LCD/screen and USB port on my Note2) The model of the phone is listed as SGH-T999 in ODIN mode and it is a T-mobile phone. How much is motherboard and what should I look for as far as part number?
Found this with a quick ebay search: http://m.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Galax...Board-Motherboard-s3-/221940485670?nav=SEARCH
I searched for "galaxy s3 T999 motherboard". That one is 68.50 obo.
It's been a while since I've looked, and it looks like there's a lot fewer of them available now. (Used to get tons of results).
You can also look for an I747 (AT&T) board. The I747 and T999 are fully compatible. No other models will fit into the case. (The T999V and I747M would probably also work. I'm not sure about the T999L or T999N models though. I'm guessing they would, but really have no idea for sure.)
Some terms to search for would be: Galaxy S3 T999 motherboard, I747 motherboard, mainboard, etc.
Also search for the same models with broken screens. Many times people sell these cheap and everything inside works perfectly. Might be cheaper too.
Watch out for certain words and phrases in the listing though. Some sellers will try a little wordplay to make it sound better than it is. If i find an example, I'll post it. Stuff like cracked screen won't power on can be changed to sound like it's only the screen won't come on, when it's really the whole device. Either ask for clarification, or move on.
I like the ones that are very specific, like cracked screen, but does appear to boot up and gives boot sounds.
Ask the seller for the imei number and check it yourself on swappa. I'd also call t-mobile and verify with them.
I hope that helps. Feel free to ask if you're wondering about a specific listing or anything else.
Oh and if buying from an eBay store, make sure they've got very good ratings. Individual people often won't have many ratings, but can sometimes be more trustworthy and more willing to give specifics. Sometimes....
You can also check places like Swappa and Craigslist.

The simplest way to get a replacement motherboard would be to look in the used market for a t999 that has smashed or defective screen with working internals.
If it is not too expensive, a jtag repair centre may be able to force flash a rom.

With systemless root can't we just flash back stock kernel and recovery, to accept ota. Or does phone still not pass system check for ota. I've never tried myself so I was wondering.
My phone is on PD1 via OTA update.
Unrooted and stock as bones in a bag.
Yet, Now it refuses to check for updates anymore.
Manually or auto update checks via wifi.
Im locked out of latest updates.
Any ideas?
Even keis says up to date, even though the PE1 has been out for a while.
Any id
Thanks.

First step is to use Odin to flash twrp or cwm ( I use twrp)
After that boot to twrp and create a back up (always do a back up)
Then go to wipe, advanced wipe and wipe dalvik, system, data, and cache.
From there go to install and select the rom you want to install and swipe to to install. Make sure your phone is on the correct baseband and firmware version to run the rom otherwise you will have issue like WiFi not turning on and camera not focusing! Reading the OP of the rom is very important. Being on PE1 you would probably have to downgrade to OK1 or PC1/PD1 for majority of roms for now. Freeze has a page where he has all the firmwares and their baseband, you can just dl them and flash them through Odin. Let me know if you need anything explained. If you mean how to literally get the rom onto the phone, I usually will just download or put the SD card into my computer. Another good option is samsung side sync/android file transfer

Did you manually unroot? Or did you flash back to a stock? You need to completely flash a stock firmware to take an OTA.

I would say go with manually flashing root. CF auto root hasn't worked for me in a long time. Besides majority if roms you'll find are prerooted anyway so there's no reason to really have to flash a root. Unless of course you're rooting stock.
I have never rooted. Always bone stock since new and always have OTA the updates. 3 maybe so far.
Still cant OTA anymore
hi every one
i have a question
i just bought a sprint galaxy note 4 and im living outside USA and my problem is that i have this annoying message of handsfree activation and i cant also select cdma or lte i just can use gsm
my android version is marshmallow 6.0.1
and my device isnt rooted
so please help me to unlock my phone and what is the best way to root it safely
Hi, mine it's the same situation, anybody can help us with that because the gsm speed is to slow for navigate, thanks in advance.
I don't know if this thread is still active.
Okay,
So I have a Sprint 32gb model Note 4 SM-N910P UD, I was experiencing the random reboot issue so I removed the sim card, thought it was fixed and tried to install a sprint pushed update via the phones normal process. It power cycled in the update and now it's pretty bricked, I can't do a factory reset or clear cash. If I turn it on it goes straight into the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue screen"
Now I try to be pretty self sufficient so I did some reading and downloaded two versions of Kies (both of which don't recognize my device) I downloaded three versions of Odin and have been attempting to restore with stock platforms. This is where I ran into my problem, I know nothing about this stuff and I am completely lost. I tried to go to Best Buy and their Samsung techs couldn't help me.
I've tried searching the site, but all the links people provide are to multiple versions of TWRS and basebands, but I don't know what those are or which ones I am supposed to download or what slot or order they are supposed to go into in Odin to re-flash this device, I keep getting "need PIT file" or other errors.
So I am throwing myself at the mercy of the court, is there an idiots guide to how I get this phone back up and running in a basic configuration? I don't need the latest update, or to even save the data that was on it before, I just need it to run like normal and I'll never download an update again. If you can link me to the thread of just tell me "look dummy download this files and install them in this order" I will be forever in your debt.

I really appreciate it, take as much time as you need I'm just happy to have help from someone more experienced than me.
@The_Malhavoc
Ok, so this is what i would try first, since you said Odin gives Pit file error.
To start, uninstall all Samsung software (like kies) from your pc. Also uninstall Odin. I guess Odin don't install, but use the one in this post.
Download and install Samsung drivers from here to your pc.
Now download Odin 3.11.1 from here!
Unzip odin to your desktop.
Download the N910P repair firmware here! You'll need to unzip this. See below.
Ok now I provided all the files here. But now continue to this post and read carefully and follow directions!

I hope this helps and all you have is a software issue!

Fyi, i can't guarantee this will work. I personally have never needed to use it, or try it. But i know it has the pit file in this. So i figured it'd might help.

Ok great. Cause I'm trying to find you an easier firmware to try first. So don't try that just yet. I'll post back shortly.
Edit. What's your current firmware?

Ok Im back. Before You do what I first told you. I want you to follow this guide. It will download you a firmware with a pit file. I actually have the file but it will take 8 hours for me to upload. so just do this.
First, All these links are from this post here. Its an old program "SamFirm" but it still works.
But Im providing shortcuts here for you. To simplify this process.
1. Download Samfirm0.3.6.zip Here!
2. It requires .NET Framework 3.5 (Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) and Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) installed)
3. So Download and Install above Links!
4. Unzip samfirm into its own directory.
5. Open it up and run as an Admin!
Now in Samfirm put in following info: (check pics)
Model== SM-N910P
Region== XAS (or if you want sprint default logo at boot then use SPR)
Check the box== Auto
and also box== Binary Nature
Then Click Check Update
It should show it found firmware SM-N910P/XAS/N910PVPS4DPK1/N910PSPT4DPK1/N910PVPS4DPK1/N910PVPS4DPK1
Make sure both boxes == Check CSC && Decrypt are both selected and Click Download!!!
IT'LL Download and Decrypt a special binary firmware, that will contain a PIT file. When you flash this file with Odin, It will completely wipe your device.
When its done just unzip the file. And then you will have a TAR.MD5 file to use with Odin!!
In Odin, Load this file to AP slot. Only select 'F.Reset Time' & 'AutoReboot' the first time, just like a normal flash.
Hope This Helps Ya!!! If This file doesnt solve your problem, you could try that other file from previous post, if you wish!
But just try this and let me know what happens!!
Good Luck!!
No luck,
I downloaded ALL_SPT_N910PVPS4DPK1_N910PSPT4DPK1_CL9120850_QB11420407_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar .md5 from Samfirm then extracted it.
Downloaded and installed odin 3.11.1 from the above link and ran as administrator.
Checked the AP box and linked it to the extraced md5 file, made sure autoreboot and f. reset time were the only things checked.
Started phone in download mode using vol down + home + power, then pressed up to enter download mode and plugged the usb into the computer.
Once Odin registered my phone with the "added" notification I clicked start.
Odin read:
<id:0/003> Odin engine v(ID:3.1101)...
<id:0/003> File analysis..
<id:0/003> SetupConnection..
<id:0/003> Initialization..
<id:0/003> Set PIT file..
<id:0/003> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<id:0/003> FAIL!
<id:0/003>
<id:0/003> Re-Partition operation failed.
<OSM> ALl threads completed. (succed 0/ failed 1)
Meanwhile my Note read:
ddi: mmc_read failed
ODIN MODE (High Speed)
etc. etc.
Secure download: enable
UDC Start
ODIN: flash read failure
Error: There is no pit binary.
so barring any failure on my part (which I'll be the first to admit is very likely) I may have to try again using the first message you suggested. I'll hold off for now just to see if I did anything wrong, considering I've heard that if I manually try flashing a PIT I could hard brick my phone permanently and it should only be as a last resort.
In any case no matter how it works out, thanks again Aaron for taking the time to help me out. I just saw how to add thanks to the posts, so I'll be doing that now.

Ok, well it definitely sounds like you got the emmc problem that i see floating around here.
I don't have any experience with it. But a couple more suggestions.
1. Try this file again. But in Odin select 'F.Reset' & 'Re- partition'. And don't select ' auto reboot '. Let it flash, and if successful, when done pull battery and reboot to recovery then wipe and reset.
2. If that is no go. Try the first solution i pointed you to.
If neither these work. Then its beyond me. Sorry.
Hope you get one of these to work for you. :fingers-crossed:
Edit. I should have mentioned, if your phone has twrp and you can boot to it. You should make a complete backup especially the efs. And copy and save it off phone.
Edit 2. You could try posting your question to that first thread i mentioned to you.
Why my SM-N910P the FRP couldn't activated.
I did a lot of factory resets but that FRP didn't activated at all.
I am on 6.0.1 PJ1 and bought it as a second hand device not new.
Why this happened... Could somebody explain this weird thing to me?
