Is it going to take 2 months to get AOSP ROMs? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Looks like CM and other AOSP ROMs came out about two months after the M8, so are we probably going to have to wait two months for AOSP?

Probably.

I don't know, how long is it going to take for you to make us one?
Oh wait, you can't? Guess you're going to have to wait.

MyTouch 4G Kernel Source Code

Source code released this morning. Give it a whirl devs, i'm sure we're all curious to see what this phone can do.
http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/glacier-2.6.32-g52a2a81.tar.gz
Good deal. Overclocking is a big one for me. Maybe after I learn some more programming with my degree I can syart helping these guys on new phones...
Also, I am not sure if TMobile is going to disable wi-fi calling or tether features, but we should jack them on the idea of charging us too.
This should be a good day for us MT4G owners I hope!
All kernel sources are here: http://developer.htc.com/
Nice! It's about time! As much as I love the stock version I need to see what this baby can do.

awesome, hopefully the phone will get some dev love now

This was all Kmobs was waiting on. He mentioned (twitter) last night that ETA for CM6 was 12/25/10, contingent upon source release. Since this came out WAY ahead of the usual time frame for releases, i'm thinking we'll get something long before Christmas.
This means we'll get ROM's soon...I hope?

It means custom kernels, not roms. Though it does technically mean we'll get CM6 sooner since it uses a custom kernel.

Download ADW or Launcher Pro out of the market. I'm used to CM6, so I went with ADW. Feels like home.
Yep, bloatware cleanup, ADW install, and SDcard cleanup are on the menu tonight. Hopefully someone will have an OC kernel up by this evening.
I wonder if we'll be able to break the 2GHz barrier on the MT4G, I know they hit 1.9 on the G2.

I'm thinking it will crush the G2's scores. Although that really doesn't matter much to me so much as what they'll be able to do with OC/UV. I want to see how much battery life they'll get out of the MSM8255.
Yeah ya! I just jizzed my pants!! Oops lol

I dunno if I'd go so far as to say "crush" however I'd be surprised if it wasn't higher. I agree though equal performance to stock with much better battery life is far more exciting because stock is already fast as hell.

New Sense+Droid Incre3dible

I could not find any information else where that wasnt from September time frame but i was woundering if the Droid Inc will be getting the new sense. I am currently using the Desire ROM that uses it and would really like to continue to use it if updates come out from HTC.
It hasn't been officially announced. It is possible but highly unlikely considering they are gonna wanna entice us incredible users to upgrade phones and spend more money with them

Seriously. I'm still on EL29, and will remain there until all the drama of the FB** releases are sorted out. I've seen far too many people bricking their phone, and without CWM built in yet, it's just too much hassle going back and forth. That said, it's still nice to see some actual Sprint/Samsung dev going on with regards to our phones. It's about time.

I am a flashaholic as well. I've wanted ICS for a long time but I kept patient which a lot of people did not. I also need stability as well at times don't get me wrong I'm glad they are working on things but 2 days difference at times does not show much also. that being said I still flashed FB21 lol.
Who cares if the RDF is up, they seem to put one up every 3 days or so.. it doesnt even get released for about 4-5 days after the RDF goes up.
Man, is it ever going to stop!!!
Ugh I hate this
It's good they're working on ICS and all but do we really need to leak every build.

Well this isn't a leak .... yet.
I knew it would be like this once it got rolling. Which is why I'm not theming my ICS ROM or putting any real time into setting it up. In fact I've only re-installed/restored a fraction of my daily driver Apps. I've got all that tucked away in my nice little EL29 backup, which I'm 5 minutes away from if I need my phone to be 100% functional. It also makes flashing new leaks once a week easier and more fun.
Those that are bricking their phones, while I definitely feel for them, must be doing something whacky. If one follows tried, true and simple Odin and CWM methods, it's like flashing any other ROM and carries the same minimal risks. Any time I flash, I check the md5s and have a plan on where I want to be and the steps I need to take to get there. Every damn time. A bit of thought and patience can be the difference between a lot of fun and a brick.
Meh I'm fckin rambling. Probably a side effect of my 2yr old getting the flu and puking all night long. I'm tired.

Some people are flashing junkies, and will love to test it out
I love that they are working on this but what I really hope Is that the leaks help the cm9 dev get things sorted out because I'm. Not moving from gingerbread until things are stable. I also really want to see what ICS Touchwiz will look like after they are DONE.
But for now I'm Perfectly happy on my very stable and fast dark ics themed blend rom!

[Q] Might be getting a little obsessive...

This is my first android phone on verizon before this i had the iPhone 5 for 2 years and before that i was on sprint with the evo 3d which was rooted... i didn't know it was a mission to get verizon phones rooted. Now im checking the forums everyday like 3 or 4 times a day to see if anything new has come up for root. Im getting desperate lol. People that have had previous note devices on verizon, did it usually take this long?
Lol you sound just like me! Ive looked everywhere. And now just sticking to xda hopen for some good news! I had a s2 rooted then went to ip4 to ip5s both jb. now im back to android with n4. N4 is a bad ass just waiting for this root to make it even meaner! I feel your pain bud!
Don't count on this phone being rooted on Verizon. If it's that important, you may need to switch phones/carriers. It's unfortunate.
It'll be rooted, just have patience. People are SMART around here, and they'll figure it out. It's still a fantastic phone as it is.

Nice thing is, not a single person here can predict the future. Nobody knows for sure what'll happen.

I don't doubt that the N4 will eventually have root.
I think the issues as stated is that CF needs an unlocked bootloader, which means either we get an unlocked bootloader (which I really doubt) or someone finds an alternative method. So yeah, nobody can predict the future, but this isn't like other phones like say on Tmob. There are more obstacles people with AT&T/VZW need to overcome. Saying otherwise at this point is very misleading to potential buyers and retail owners.

How patient are you? it might get root within a year maybe. want recovery and root buy a developer edition
I think the note 3 just got root this past summer, and it was released Sept 2013, so that would be 8-10 months after release.

If only it were that easy. Unfortunately Samsung's DE program is a nightmare and they can't seem to keep them in stock. I would happily sell my phone today for $550 and order a DE for $700, but its not even an option.

Well if we've learned anything about Samsung this year its that they don't know how to properly plan their phone supplies. At this point I'll just wait for an M9 instead of dealing with Samsung's DE circus.

Lollipop officially rolling out... on Sprint.

Lollipop update is officially rolling out on Sprint Devices, so hopefully we're next/soon.

Seeing how close the devs are to getting this device root I suggest holding off on accepting the update when it does roll out.

It's safe to say: Root is not coming. I would jump on Lollipop asap. Anything is better than the current lag on this phone. Hopefully its less Samsung customed like how they did the New S6.
I also have a Tmobile rooted also, so I know how laggy the AT&T version is. Heck, my Moto G (2014) is snappier.

I can't wait for everyone that posts this defeatist statement to jump to 5+ then come back and complain and cry when we have root and they dont. Good luck with 5+ and I will silently chuckle when I see your posts down the road on how 5+ sucks.
