MMS APN Help - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Got my Zenfone 2 yesterday, imported from Taiwan. Let me begin to say I love this phone. =) I got the 4G working via T-Mobile but I have ran into some hiccups. I can't receive MMS (Pictures). I messed around with the settings but nothing. I went from being able to send the message and it being stuck in a loop of repetitive sending to can't send message due to network error. I'll post both of the APNS that I was using so you guys can see what I am doing wrong.

Did you ever get your MMS to work? I'm ready to pull the trigger and get one, but I hate the MMS issue that some phones have.

MMS working fine on AT&T with Taiwan version.

Follow the instructions your carrier provides for your settings. It's really that simple. There aren't any tricks to it in most cases.

I'm using this.

I finally got it to work, here are the screen shots.

Followed the screen shots and the on!y things I saw different t is the IPv4 adding IPv6. But still does not work

I found that disabling auto retrieve in hangouts settings basically fixed my MMS problems on tmo USA.

Not able to send and receive text messages...

just got my tilt 2 and immediately flashed to a new rom (erasers latest HTC rom) and the text messaging would not work at all. wasn't sure if it was a rom issue but I loaded energys pheonix 2 on there (standard version) and the same problem. what should I do next? mess with the connection settings or load a new radio or a new rom or what?
thanks in advance, I am a huge noob but I am loving the phone so far (besides this minor hiccup)
bump for some help... someone give me some advice before I start throwing new radios on here!
Bump in the house
Tilt 2 means you are in the US?
I got kind of similar problem - I can't send messages to contacts. If I enter the number instead of picking the contact it works fine AND if I enter a number wich is stored as a contact it displays the name in the "to" field... Quite strange.
I got all my contacts in Outlook International format (that means +49 (0123) 123456789). I guess it's about that. On EPS Advanced ROM it was possible to edit the number after picking a contact (delete the 0 from (0123)) and it worked. This is no longer possible with Energy Leo ROM and now DeepShining ROM.
How are your contacts saved? Maybe you have the same problem (but that doesn't explain why you can't receive messages...). You might try Josh's ROM for example, it contains the correct Radio!

It is possible the Connection Settings for your provider have not been configured. Start>Settings>Connections>Connection Setup

what should I do? return the phone?? install the stock rom and take it to ATT? this is starting to suck since I have had it since Friday and it hasnt worked.
yeah take it back and tell them it isnt working. Get a new phone. Might be a hardware issue.
sorry guys, turns out it was an issue with ATT. went to the store and resolved it and now I am loving the phone. thanks for the help though, I have been worrying about this for the last 4 days, good to have it resolved.

I cleared out all my sms/mms messages and I still have the icon saying I have one new txt, when I go to the inbox I see no new messages but it still won't clear, any suggestions?
I saw this thread after almost starting one similar. Im currently on Simplicity and cant send or receive mms messages either, but it works fine with the stock att rom. Wat do i need to do to get it to work on simplicity?

MMS Broken on 4.0.3? 4.0.1? or ICS in General?

I can't seem to send or receive MMS messages on my Gnex. I didn't try when on 4.0.1 so was it working then? I'm on o2 and there are no guides for APN setup yet. If yours is working could you post up the APN please?? It's odd because I have a sgs2 running ICS and its not working there as well...... Any ideas are welcome!!
anyone??
Tmobile much?

I had similar issues, turns out I had an extra (bogus) APN defined for MMS traffic, removing it helped instantly.
my MMS is broken too. Only works very rarely, and even then it's broken.
I contacted my carrier and explained it all and they said they'll send me a new SIM. Let's see what that'll do...
make sure wifi is off when trying to o send and receive. I'm sure there are probably apn issues too, but this has helped some people too.

Exact same issue for me despite many attempts to resolve it. I am on the giffgaff network and tried all the APNs with no success. It definitely appears to be an issue with ICS. As per the OPs post ideas, solutions would be welcome.

Thanks for the post.... I know most (like me) don't use mms much but I like to be able to get them from friends that are not quite "up with the times"...lol But like you said this seems to be more a issue with ICS than the actual APN... Help out guys if its working for you what rom & APN are you running?
It's definitely a problem with Android as a whole, since I had the same trouble on my HTC Desire all the way from stock to custom roms. Only some custom roms enabled MMS but I have no idea what the devs did to fix it. It's been an issue for me the past 2 years now. Has never worked properly since making the jump to smartphones. Even iphones have trouble with MMS apparently, so its not isolated to android either.
I doubt my new sim will make a difference, still waiting for it to arrive
i have no problem on my telco (Maxis) in Malaysia.. since i use
desire
incredible s
desire hd
evo 3d
galaxy nexus
all mms are working fine.. because my apn is already available with the android os.. no need to configure anything
my telco always send mms ads.. so when it comes to my gnex.. i just on my data.. then download the mms.. then the mms will load up n play well
Did anyone come up with a working solution for this issue? I've tried everything i could find in here:
Changing mms.apk, try with Handcent and GO SMS Pro. No luck.
I've checked my apn settings and checked them with the guide from my provider (Bibob - Denmark).
I get a message that I've got a new mms and when i push the download button it says "Currently unable to download. Please try again later."
I had the exact same problem with my Desire, but i gave up on trying to fix that... Could seem that i have to do that again with this new phone.
If someone could help i'm very interested in any suggestion.

Call your provider and ask about it. Maybe your subscription don't have mms activated?

I know it is... MMS is not an option here in DK, it's just there with every provider.

MMS problems

So I just got the Galaxy Nexus about a week ago. I am on AT&T and everything works great expect MMS messages. Ive tried finding different solutions but every thread I find is from months ago - and well before JB came out. I have tried combinations of every different APN I can get my hands on but no luck. I can send pictures without any problems but I cannot receive them. All that pops up is a button that says "Download" and when I click it I get an error saying it cannot download.
I just spent 3 hours on the phone with AT&T customer service and even ended up getting a new sim card to see if that was the problem. I am out of ideas and hoping someone else can help.
I am currently using the default APN - Cingular 410. Any help is much appreciated!
And I didn't find a thread similar to this so I apologize in advance if there is one out there
Funny thing I'm having the same problem but I'm on tmobile. I spoke to a rep and all they could tell me was my phone was messed up and that I need to get a tmobile phone. I would really like to know what's causing this.

I have the unlocked GNEX on Straight Talk and had the same problem. Then it cleared up. I am guessing you changed all of the APN info to match AT&T?

I found a few different sets of APNs online and tried them all out. I reset it to default since I have not gotten any luck with any others.
But I tried putting my SIM card in other phones and it is still having the same problem which is leading me to think its a problem on AT&T's side. I will give them a call tomorrow and report what I find out.

Nexus MMS Issues

Hi xda i've had a problem with my new galaxy nexus with sending and downloading any MMS message.
Basically I noticed the issue today as it was the first time a friend sent me a mss on my new device and I could not download it. I tried messing with the APN, Auto-Receive and turning WIFI off and I still could not get it to download or send MMS so I decided it must be a issue with the device.
My phone came with stock yakjuxw 4.0.4 but I flashbooted it to 4.1 without root and ive had no issues other than this MMS issue. It is not my sim as I tried sending and receiving MMS from my old Blackberry and it worked fine.
My device is a unlocked GSM device and I am based in Australia.
Can anybody give me some insight on what to do?
EDIT: I looked at CatLog while trying to download the msg and I got the following which it kept repeating if it means anything:
GC_CONCURRENT freed
WAIT_FOR_CONCURRENT_GC BLOCKED
Ps: My first post of now many
99% of the time it's APN related.
Does your friend have an iPhone? I have horrible problems getting MMS from iPhones for some reason.

The first MMS I received yes was from a friend with an iphone but then tried sending one from a nokia and got the same issue.
It sounds stupid but could it have anything to do with me not having root?

I've experienced similar issues in the past, and had success with going into the APN settings, hitting the menu dots, and selecting the reset to default option. Send some of the settings or data got corrupt at some point (even though everything looked OK)

I have a similar problem on both of our nexuses (nexi). Mine is rooted and my wife's is 100% stock. MMS send fine most places, but anywhere that has a wifi network seems to keep the MMS from sending. The picture will just sit there with 'Sending' next to it for days before you realize it never sent. It wont even send once you leave the wifi area. If I send the message when i'm not near wifi, it sends fine. I realize this is of little help, but you're not alone anyhow.
This is my first visit since this problem and I figured out the problem was to do with my carrier. I called them and my MMS was set to use blackberry servers. They put me back on their network and its worked since

Epic on Boost Mobile, MMS suddenly failing

I've been able to use MMS for years, but suddenly my phone and a friend's phone in a different city that I set up are both failing to download MMS. I get the sad message face (notification icon for failed message) and a notification saying:
MMS transaction is failed.
HTTP 401 error : Authorization Required
I just restore the boost APN again and rebooted, but get the same error.
Can it be that boost has changed its MMS settings? If so, how can I get the new information?

Edit:
I've found much longer APN.xml that works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31454975&postcount=1101
This thing has 1353 APN entries, but so far it allows me to receive.

Looks like it didn't work. If anyone has any ideas, please help. Is anyone else having an issue like this?
Gary,
I started having exactly the same problem today with my Epic.
I'm in the Chicago area, if you are too maybe it's a localized issue. If not, maybe Boost changed something.
FWIW - I'm running TPR 2.2.1 (TW GB ROM), so it's pretty close to a "stock" setup.
I tried adding the mms proxy to the apn, I've never needed it before, but it didn't help.
Let me know if you find anything.

I'm in New York City, and it is also happening in Albany, NY. I was afraid Boost had changed something or is in the process of changing something and it is looking more and more like that. If anyone has any information, please share it here.
I'm considering seeing if my incognito gets an error or if it somehow automatically makes an adjustment. I'm also considering calling Boost Customer service and telling them my incognito is saying error 401 when I try to receive an MMS. I won't do either right away. But maybe after one of the many people around here who are way more knowledgeable than I about these things weighs in.

This guy on HoFo is having issues in LA, so that makes it nationwide (NY, Chicago, LA all reporting problems).
I may try sending an MMS to my daughter later, she has a Rumor Reflex on Boost... Would be interesting to see if the settings changed on her phone, but I don't know how to access any of those on the LG.
Yup that's my posting on hofo
Same issue in LA

I have time to take out the incognito, but I don't know what tests to run. If the incognito works, I wouldn't be able to extract the APN.xml to compare it to the epic's that I downloaded. And if I could get the APN, and the epic didn't work with a valid APN, I would be entirely lost.

Mms still works without issue on the incognito. Still fails on the Epic.
I removed the epic battery, plugged in the incog, turned on the incog and sent a picture message to myself using the camera. The incog showed a progress bar and when a few seconds after it finished I got a new message. I was able to see the picture in my new message.

The incog worked without any action, including I didn't update the profile. (How would I do that if I wanted to?)

I'm also running TPR, so it's possible this is a GB problem. Is anyone running a CM rom and having this problem? Possibly ICS and later have a different kind of MMS authorization procedure and Boost has now cut off the gingerbread procedure if it doesn't have any phones still using that.
This is the for sure fire fix..
Download this apn, use this apn by replacing the old one, using apn backup and restore
