How are your buttons? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Are the buttons on the M9 clicky or squishy? The power button on the m7 had zero feedback. Has this been changed for the m9?

Now the power button has 100% feedback, moreover feels very different from two volume buttons when touched/sensed..

NO issues with any of my buttons. They all provide excellent feedback.

I'd characterize the buttons as "soft clicky". A definite click, but not harsh. The power button definitely feels different, but I think it's a little too close to the volume buttons myself. I almost never use it, thanks to double-tap screen on and Gravity Screen app.

Is the power button lower more flush than the volume buttons?

No, they're about the same on my phone.

Power button has ridges hence feels different from volume buttons..

On mine the volume down is almost flush with the phone, and is spongy, and the volume up and power buttons are clicky and stick out more.
I'm sure they'll stand the test of time though.

Yep, mine are just the same as this!

On mine the volume down and power are flusher with the phone and more of a soft click and the volume up sticks out a little and is a little more clicky but all are very responsive

my volume up button has no feedback/less feedback then the volume down button

Both volume buttons are clicky and nice on mine, but the power button is squishy/loose/very little travel. I keep pressing it accidently it is so annoying

Same with mine. I'm worried about it should I be?

No I never had any problems with response on the buttons they worked fine, but unfortunately I cracked my screen and just got my replacement and the volume up and power button stick out further and the volume down is in.

[Q] power button pressing

when you press the power button on your gnex, does it feel kind of soft?
Its hard to explain but i like the click feel when i press the volume buttons but when i press the power i dont get the click. i feel like i have to press just a little harder than using the volume.
I have never touched another gnex so i wanted to see if its normal or if my power button is giving already. thanks
My power button is slightly softer on tactile feedback but I don't put any more pressure on the power than the volume keys.
Mine is the same on both sides. Just to make sure I took off the TPU case since that covers the volume rocker but not power. They have the same level of feedback; not too clicky and not too mushy.
I do remember the first Galaxy S I had where the volume rocker was so loose it rattled like it was nobody's business. That phone was exchanged and the replacement was fine.
The power button has less force, but I actually like that better since I press it much more than the volume rocker buttons. I guess psychologically to me it feels like less wear and tear.
Ya am actually worried that over time the power button would level with the phone's body. I feel like it is sinking in lol...

[Q] One X spongy power button?

Got my One X this morning, has anyone elses power button got kind of a spongy feel to it? There's no click when I depress it, so it's hard to know if it's pressed in enough :-\
I got a "click" sound on my powetbutton. But my volumerocker seems a bit loose. When i shake my phone I can hear my volumerocker ratteling if i listen closely. :-/

My volume rocker is loose too... is this with everyone the case?
Power button has a click, but I get the feeling not for long anymore...
Same with the the volumerocker clicking when I shake the phone, but I have to really hold it up to my ear to hear it.
No issues with the power button here.

For me, This is a HTC Trademark, the PowerButton has always been 'soft' and 'spongey' on every HTC device I've owned, never gave it a moment's thought though.

Often when i turn my screen off, if i have pressed it a little to hard, the lockscreen imediately appears again.
I have the rattle of the volumerocker and it's loose too.
No issue with the button power.
But, i have called the customer service of HTC friday and it says me the rattle of the volumerocker is a defect who needs repair or remplacement.
I go Tuesday to the store for exchange my one x .
Anyone else ?
I have the exact opposite.
volume rocker is fine but my power button feels slightly loose. Still get a nice click when I use it but does rattle when I shake it.
think it's worth exchanging?
Hi
I just received HOX white made in Taiwan. The power button looks O.K.
But I have problem with volume button. Button for lowering the volume is very sensitive. Gentle touch is enough to lower volume. There is no click or something like that.
Volume up button works perfect (you can hear click etc.) Is there someone with the same problem?
It is very hard to hold this phone in hand without touching the volume buttons.

Power button

Is the power button supposed to be more recessed and looser compared to the volume rocker? I noticed that my volume rocker protrudes a bit more than the power button.

Just use your phone and stop worrying about these small things. If you're concerned about damaging or wearing out the power button, use your center button to wake your device. And press the power button gently when you need it.
Wrap it in a case, and free up your time to do something more productive in your life.

Power button issue

Phone feels great, but i recently noticed that the power button is not as tactile and raised as the volume rocker. I need to press it on the middle to work or else the edge kind of flattens out with the phone. Does anyone else have this problem?
Power button on HTC 10 not as tactile as volume rockers
The same exact thing is happening on my HTC 10. Whenever I click the power button. I do not hear a click but the phone reacts. I too have noticed that it is not as tactile as the volume rockers. I hope this is not a common fault in the manufacturing since I have only had the phone for one week.
It's normal, my power button is really clicky but still a little less so than the volume buttons. It does rock slightly as the actual button is in the middle whereas the volume buttons are perfectly stable. Mine is level with the volume buttons however.
I had to replace my HTC 10 due to the fact carphone warehouse gave me the wrong one originally for my click and collect order so my SIM card wouldn't work.
The first had a clicky power button that was easy to press and solid. The second one is spongy and harder to press while in a case but is very solid.
Both are acceptable for me at least.
I just accepted it because it isn't such a big "flaw", atleast it works

Question Pixel 6 pro - power button less "clicky" than the volume buttons?

Just got the 6 pro today..anyone notice their power button is a bit less clicky than the volume rockers?
And if you press the power button at the very edge, you get almost no audible click. Have to click it directly down at the middle.
The volume buttons you can click at the very edge and still get an audible click.
Shrugs, not a huge deal, especially with the current shortages, just wanted to see if it was just me who had it.
Yes, both my volume buttons are louder than my power button. Not an issue at all as all feel good.
yeah I gotta press harder on power then volume

Okay cool, yeah, just wanted to make sure it wasn't a defective device and I needed to RMA. WIth the current shortages..no clue how long a RMA would take tbh..
Old thread, but I bought two phones and both have identical power buttons; where the top and bottom edge of the buttons push in but do not engage/click the button.
Essentially you need to press directly in the middle of the button for it to engage.
I assume this is just how the button was designed. I highly doubt I got 2 phones with an issue. Also others seem to suggest this is how the button functions.
After trying Power, Volume Up, and Volume Down several times, they all feel exactly the same (clicky) to me. At least through my OtterBox Defender case.
All buttons should feel good with a wide sweet spot and uniform, positive action.
Poor design, poor quality and noticeable deviations are not what you pay the big bucks for in a flagship phone.
Yes, well... the Titanic was the flagship of the White Star Line.
