HTC Desire 820 - Desire 820 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey i have bought HTC Desire 820 from China, But playstore and other google services are not working on the phone. please help to get back the google services. I had read somewhere that an app called CMS or something helps to bring it back. I don't know the procedure for it. If any one know about it let me know.

Missing apps in the Market, this will repeat and forever (April 23, 2010)

UPDATE:
As of April 23, 2010 HTC Desire users can see / buy protected apps from the Android Market !
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I know, this has been discussed again and again.
We have to wait until Google finished finger-printing the phone firmware and added it to the Market. Something like Google should certify the phone firmware to be able to use the Market.
Granted, no problem with that ... if Google can do it very quickly.
But how long???
This will be a long wait ... or VERY LONG WAIT
Take a look from the official Google Android Market forum support:
Even the HTC Legend is still having this issue (which was released earlier)
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=683d89c4f4fd4593&hl=en
After more than 1 month, it is still not fixed !!!
And this is for HTC Hero:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Android+Market/thread?tid=3529bae358433fcd&hl=en
Started on July 22, 2009 ... Until March 2010 ... Or is it still till now??? Probably on certain firmware from certain mobile operators or whatnot.
I really cannot believe Google screws this great Android platform like this.
Think about the next firmware update, from Google or HTC ... We will AGAIN get this issue ... Then wait again very long.
I am really mad and hate this. The phone is nice, but this? Do I forced to find "elsewhere" (pirated, cracked version of Android apps)?
If one of you guys is capable of writing a good professional article or blog regarding this issue, we could spread the voice all over the internet / twitter / facebook / blogs / news so Google could "end" or "fix" this.
Because this is unacceptable ... will REPEAT (every firmware update) and FOREVER
PS: This is repost from AndroidForums.com by me.
It's staggering really. Particularly like google Earth. I can't get that through the android market!
This should be fixed....
will a rooted desire solve the problem?

I think so, since at that point you can change your phone "ID", so the market thinks it is a nexus/G1/X10 etc etc.
If there si a phone with full access to the market, you change your ID to that one et voilá...
how about changing from a T-Mobile ROM to a generic one?
I'm have a desire with the same issue, running the latest generic firmware. I have to source apps I can't find on the market place elsewhere. There really needs to be more urgency put on the finger printing process by Google!
Think Google have their dummy out as the Nexus isnt doing too well lol
Seriously though. This is bad. The iphone/pod does so well because of the apps. Microsoft are doing so badly because of the apps. Google dont shoot yourself in the foot.
Its sad as I told my mate today that the android just lacks big named titles then I go on cryket and there are some cool titles Gameloft & EA but not found on the marketplace when I search.
Really is a pity we have to wait so long.

Knowing HTC they probably won't release many updates for the Desire anyway, unless they've realised that in order to sell more units they need to provide fixes!

Hahaha, don't be daft now! When do HTC ever really fix issues? Thats why we all love xda so much.
This won't help ... I am using generic one
This issue is silly ... I cant support Android platform by spending money on apps. I want to do this to support Android developers so they will be happy and encouraged to develop more better apps.
If I am a developer, I will be really mad ...
Some apps are in http://www.slideme.org , but not all.

This guy is making work of the market problem. At least for the Legend. So let's hope this will also solve the problem for the Desire.
Otherwise we have to wait for root acces and alter the build.prop file ourselves.

As far as I can gather, he says nothing specifically about the market problem, he's just saying an OTA is underway for the Legend that should fix that phone's specific problems getting apps that need access to the camera.
He says nothing about the missing protected apps, and nothing about the Desire either.
Just got off the phone to HTC:
Apparently there is a ROM update to fix this in the works which will be released in "the next four weeks". She was quite adamant that it wasn't just a Google thing...
I gave her a list of apps that I couldn't download and she said she'd pass it on.
She did say that the more people that call up and report this the better. It then lets HTC know how much pain its causing.
Get calling!
Oh boy ... 4 weeks??? I hope HTC will roll out a very good list of patches!
If it will include "Flash 10.1" with hardware acceleration, then I will forgive them (HTC and Google)
Google IO conference will be on May 19 - 20.
I wrote an article about it as suggested and its up
http://www.rcrwireless.com/article/...121/htc-desire-has-android-marketplace-issues
We should spread this out.
But, why do you only mention "unbranded" ??? Because this issue happen on ALL HTC Desire devices released till today.
And also HTC Legend ... and some HTC Hero still.
Read my #1 post.

Good. Thanks for the article.
But I have one of the first T-mobile Desire's bought direct from T-mobile (1.15.110.11) and I still can't see protected apps like Tapatalk, Google Earth, etc. So the problem isn't restricted to unbranded phones as your article suggests.

[Q] This app is incompatible with your 3 HTC HTC One X - Why?

I've been hyped to hear that the Nike + Running app is now avaliable on the play store, but then gutted to find it out wont install on my One X. I get:
This app is incompatible with your 3 HTC HTC One X. This item is not available on your carrier. - But is my carrier really the problem? I dont see how?
Here is a link to the app page https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nike.plusgps - is it the same for other One X users on different carriers?
What do you think is causing the problem? I would have thought getting the latest phone with an unlimited data plan would avoid annoyances like this!
George
I don't have my One X with me as its away for replacement (Wi-Fi fault) but clicking on the link to take me to the Play Store tells me it's not compatible with my HOX on Orange UK or my old Sensation XE on Orange either, however it says it is compatible with my old Desire on O2
Here's the APK so you can side load it. It should work unless the carrier's actually blocking it.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/zq2gfn08nt22blt/Running-16.apk
Says it's compatible with my One X on o2 UK
Incompatible with my Orange Desire, T-Mobile One X and even my Acer A500 Iconia tablet (which is on no network).
incompatible with Voda UK One X - i know it can be loaded manualy but why??
Alright guys, I really need some help. I'm a newbie to this whole installing APK files manually thing. I have the file, I have my HTC ONE X, and I have ASTRO FILE MANAGER. -For other devices they say put it on the SD card, but of course that isn't a thing for the O.X., so where do I copy the file to that I can install it via ASTRO? I know this is probably really dumb. If there is a step by step guide to installing APKs on the One X please link me up or just tell me if it's simple enough.

If you haven't done so, go in to Settings>Security and make sure "Unknown source" is ticked. Find the APK using Astro, it should be in "Downloads." Tap on it and it should give you three options, one of which is "install." That should do it.
great stuff! thank you so much! Got it working
I had a look at google play and I too can't get it for my ONE X on Orange UK but d/l from BarryH, thank you, and it works.
I can understand if it's for a tablet and the screen res is too big but when it actually does work I can't see the problem.
I found that with a lot of games like Six Guns [ Gameloft ]
Doesn't work on my unbranded One X on Vodafone...rubbish! (not that I'll ever use it)
in the uk O2 has sole rights to this app until the end of the year. for us non O2 customers can someone please upload the 1.0.2 apk?
Request for an app

[Q] Htc One X vs Htc One & Google Now

Hi,
Im coming from iOS and im considering an android, and the htc one x was/is one of the equipments in consideration but i have some questions about it, especially now after the htc one announcement. So i would like to get the feedback from users here to help me decide
I really liked the htc one, the features, the design, etc but i was wondering if its worth the extra money, wait and get it or just get a htc one x for cheaper? The OneX would be the quad-core version.
Also, i have some questions about google now and the voice assistant. Does it work well on the htc one x? From what i have read, there is already jelly bean for HOX so google now should work(right?).
Can the voice assistant from google now read and reply to text's by voice? Especially when its connected to a cars bluetooth kit and a text arrives, it would be very useful to have the option to read it automatically and reply to it - thats something that i always thought was very useful on siri.
Thanks!
Edit: I placed this on this "section" of the forum because it seemed like the right sub-forum since it was questions about the device, but now i was looking at the "general" sub-forum and now im not sure if it really belongs here or not. So mods, im sorry if this thread doesn't belong in this sub-forum and of course, feel free to move it, Thanks
AW: [Q] Htc One X vs Htc One & Google Now
Hello,
Google Now isn't as you expected a voice assistant like siri.
Its main funktions are a voice search that includes all Google features like YouTube gmaps etc.
The secound feature is that you can use different "cards" which show you personalised content like traffic from your home to work or weather or concerts alround you.
There are many possibility.
The voice based assistant can be found in other android apps, including the reading of sms.

I'm wondering if google doesn't work for you as you obviously didn't even do a search there to see if you can find an answer out of the 3 660 000 results that it tossed out with a simple search like "how to root htc one m8"
http://htconeroot.com/htc-one-root/how-to-root-htc-one-m8/
There is one method, you can also try Sunshine S-OFF ($25) and you won't have to unlock the bootloader through htcdev.com...
On a side note, this belongs in Q&A not General, I'm reporting to have it moved to the appropriate place.
Haha I did search Google there are just so many I was kinda looking for way others have used figuered if I generalized the question I would get a few options and not have to read our watch 20 thousand articles and videos.
