Q: Note 8 still a good buy? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Hi all, my note 4 is making me think about getting a note tablet and I was considering the note 8. I can get a used one off swappa for a decent price. How are they holding up? Still running well?

Yep, still running well. 4 cores and 2gigs of ram are certainly okay.

B sure to get one that is JB. KK sucks hind tit.
I have two 8.0 tablets. Got the first one new in November 2013 for $150 US shipped. The second was on EBay for $75.00 shipped late last year. It was cheap because someone updated to KK on it and could not use their SD card.
I assume you can find a decent 8.0 JB for 75 now as well.

Mine is still good also, still as fast as the day I bought it over two years ago.

Just installed Cyanogenmod 12 instead of 11 , works the best

Still enjoying mine also. Purchased it off ebay a year ago for $150.

Lollipop?

Samsung Galaxy tab 3 will receive lollipop? I think it should, because it's not 18 months since it's release(7th July 2013),(or does that apply only on "S" series phones?)
Any variant?
Sent from my SM-T211 using XDA Free mobile app
I dont think so there is nothing to read or hear about updates Samsung is dreaming about release 5.0 for s5 early December but i think it will take to february / march personally i own tab 3 10.1 s3 s4 s5 and n3 and all are 4.4.2(i know there is 4.4.4 port for s3) i think they changed update policy once again now im 100 % sure early December we get another s5 g900pxygsjan LTEx2 bla bla with better screen and 5.0 but released devices should not expect any updates soon they dont even gave any official statment to 4.4.4 so...
Personally i love samsungs hardware but they f**ked up s3 international , s4 is buggy and battery drain ... S5 is current flagship they dont care about and same with n3 since n4 was released 2 weeks ago ITS time to make a cut with Samsung i bought s5 only cause i thought they would release gpe like s4 but nothing no infos to customer no support i was really wondered that 4.4.2 KitKat came to p5210
Edit: just read right now they are selling new s5 g900f with 4.4.4 i just dont get why they dont release any updates...

UNlikely
The 18 month policy is for flagship devices so tab 3 getting lollipop update is highly unlikely!

Don't buy le pro3

i bought le 2 x526 (indina variant) with sd652 2 months ago and eui is a ****ty os so i thought there will be development and the hardware is great on le 2 i will be okay but its been 5months since they launched le 2 and they are saying that releasing kernel source is not in their company policy , i sold my phone today. Please don't buy this phone eui is too buggy go for mi 5s anyday
What was ***ty? Chinese companys are the same. Support just for the flagship, for the small one "just if we got some time".
this device should be different. it has band20. and the world goes crazy for it. whyever?!
So interest will be and seems to be already in new spheres.
Of course....I could be wrong
Good smartphone
i had LeEco Le Pro 3 that bought it last week. it is different from other leeco phones.
News about kernel source ?
Why is it different from other Leeco?
Hi, you've tried the Leeco Pro 3, I want to buy but are undecided. I wanted to know why it is different from the others. Thank you

That's what I want to know as well. I'm not even really interested if not. I've seen it get trounced by a OP3 with 'just' an SD 820. The le pro definitely needs a rom on it for me!

The thread should now be renamed into DO BUY the Le Pro 3...
better buy Oneplus 3 instead this
Wonderful phone I have it since a day and I'm really satisfied...perfect, buy it. Eui is a very stable and good firmware. Buy it if you aren't a super fan of CM OR AOSP ROM...in that case better OP3. Anyway probably you can install them also here in a near future cause source is open and this phone will have a huge amount of fans. Le pro 3 is however than OP3 better with its 821...is more stable, has less battery draining, no overheating problems at all.

use Pro3 for 2 weeks in HongKong , so far so good.......4070mah battery could use for a day even heavy usage.
i bought lePro3, and i like it. i think the interface is better than the native MM6.0. and it is a really good phone. i sold my Samsung note 5, and this Lepro is very good. see my other post on "leEco Pro questions and answers" section...for some initial review.
is the official rom good enough?
is it safe to use without backdoors, malware ets?
I did a virus scanning when I got the phone. So far so good. I recommend to install antivirus for protection. I have 360 security installed. But the rom is not official. It is a custom rom developed by the seller Shop. But the US version will be the first official english rom for LePro 3

When I bought It from China, i told the seller to let the original ROM in chinese and english. So the first ROM in China is original in english.
interesting.im watching this phone too...high spec and powerful.
Not a bad phone and if some roms are developed then it'd be so much better. The only ****ty thing about this phone is the software (and no headphone jack / 2 usb c) but i got over it with Bluetooth headphones... I mean you're paying 300 momeis for a phone... Yeah the camera could be better and the speakers could use some help however it's still a solid performer (even with eui being ****ty and taking 2 out of 4 gigs of ram like wtf eui why you do this?!!!)

New phone recommendation

Well, I've loved my zenfone 2 since I bought it when it first came out, but it looks like it's bitten the dust.
Any recommendations for a ~$300 phone that I'd be happy with. I like the 5.5" inch screen, the 4G Ram, and the SD slot options. Anybody move to the zenfone 3 (and why are there so many versions?)? Any other recommendations?
ZF3 Deluxe is the best if it's at your range, it's worth its price. If not try zf3, but probably you can get sone better phone in this price.

Automatic light dimmer

Hey folks
I bought my first M20X in November 2018.
It was crashed ½ year ago, so sad.
Then I bought a Samsung s21 ultra, had it 1 month, did not like Sammy any longer, hate the OS and the display size hmmm to small.
Then I got my xiaomi mi 11 ultra 1½month ago, I liked it better then the S21u BUT missed my good old M20X which still is a hardcore phone in my eyes.
I bought a new one 8gb 256gm Chinese version with a global rom on Aliexpress
It work absolutely 100% like my old global M20X Hong Kong version, no Chinese stuff at all.
It surprised me the M20X forum still is active here.. Awesome, not much, but still.
Big story yes, for a tiny question.
Every time I restart my M20X is set as automatic light dimmer grrrrr, don't want that.
I remember the same problem in 2018, but how to fix it, I don't remember and can't find anything about it...
Anyone in here know what to do ??

Hey
Thx but I have the highest update you can get to this phone. And I'm happy for this, because it gives me all i need. I don't even use my xiaomi mi 11 ultra... I had it for around 3 weeks now, but this tiny display is hard to work with
And most amazing part I got 2 security updates the last 5-6 weeks, it surprised me a lot

Hey,
Kinda confused here. Do you have the chinese version? Because I noticed you have 11.0.0.155. But I'm on 11.0.0.142 on C636. How were you able to get 155 when i dont?
Hi
Yes i have a Chinese version 256gb 8gb EU rom version and I bought it on Aliexpress like this.
So it's really a upgrade vs my first M20X C636 Hong Kong version
Took 3 weeks to be delivered.
And as I told, I still get security updates for it
Take a look

Ok thats what i thought.
Today I tried the samsung note 20 ultra at a store. I have to admit it looks very good! It may be a bit smaller than the 20x but its still a big phone with an amazing sharp bright screen. I'm very tempted into selling my 20x and buying the note 20 ultra instead. Very tempted.
I understand you, tried the same with S21 ultra BUT, for me the display is much smaller and the battery time sucks big time vs M20X and that's enough for me to go back to my beloved M20X.
And I think the same will happen with Mi 11 ultra. When I compare speed etc, I don't feel any big difference at all. So M20X is still 95% up to date.
But wish you good luck then

I left Samsung for OnPlus because of Samsung's unlockable bootloader. Was with Samsung for 12 years, just this year switched to OnePlus for more custom options. However, customize with caution. Do your research first before making a move. Won't go wrong with OnePlus.

It is still worth buying. With A11 or A13 (not A12), it is equal to anything in the market now. I would go for either the first or the last one in your list, depending on the budget.

OnePlus had them on site for $399 brand new but sold out. Maybe they will have more. Ebay and amazon had some stock at $349 last week, also brand new.
$662 seems pretty high. I bought mine before they went on sale. It was $469 (Tmo) brand new on eBay. You can probably find a better deal than $500 pre-owned, depending on region
Amazon Germany had a 20% off warehouse deal on Cyber Monday which came out to €464 for a used one in very good condition (12gb/256gb variant). I would not pay more than that.
The OnePlus 9 Pro is still definitely a good buy, even if you stick with OxygenOS 11 or 13 (skip 12, as @TNSMANI said). It's definitely a good buy if you want to eventually dabble in the world of custom ROMs, as the 9 Pro has excellent support in that area compared to the OnePlus 10 series, which has almost none (last time I checked, anyway).

But here, in India the prices are like I mentioned before. My other options are a used 7T for $200-250. Then OnePlus 9R, Poco F4 (unsure about the cam quality compared to 7T) or Pixel 7 series (too expensive, literally can't think of now :/ )

I see but I couldn't find any good deals during these Black Friday days and cyber Monday. I too don't want to spend this amount for a pre-owned or box pack of 9 Pro.

Yes, have the same thoughts. I had the best phone I ever had, OnePlus 7T, till a month back, it's main board died then. So my new phone should be equal or better than 7T by specs, with nearly zero bloatwares, root friendly that doesn't tamper the warranty (only if I'm buying one with warranty), can install modded apps incl. GCam, have custom ROM support (now or whenever it won't get newer official ROMs; found many custom ROMs for 9 Pro), and also able to factory reset the ROM manually (10 series still don't have MSM Download Tool support if I'm correct).
Other options matching these criteria are Poco F4 (unsure about the cam quality when compared to 7T), and Pixel 7 series, but they are too expensive.
In that case, if you can spare the cash, buy
"A pre-owned 12GB, 256GB without any warranty for $490"
Because 12GB Ram could mean better longevity/viability.
I've just got myself one. There are good deals to be had on open box items from Amazon Warehouse Events (10% off earlier, 20% off now). Also went for the 12/256 version but because of the storage not the RAM: I think 12 GB on a phone is ridiculous (not that I mind having it though).
The hardware is excellent. The phone is a bit bulky but all of its size is put to good use as it has an amazing and nearly bezel-less screen. It feels premium to the touch and is still reasonably slim. The only drawback is that (in common w/other SD888 devices), battery life (specifically screen-on time) isn't great. But at least it's fast to recharge (from 0% to 100% in 30').
I bought it for use with LOS as it's a well-supported device. It lives up to my expectations. The custom ROM scene is lively. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to people who just want to run stock OS though. I haven't used stock much myself before flashing LOS and I'm probably biased anyway but the impression is that a lot of the userbase is unhappy about how the things are going, and the general quality of the updates.
It'd be hard to recommend getting into the mess that Color/OxygenOS seems to be now when you could simply get a Pixel 6a, also with a decent camera, better battery life, and next to no software issues whatsoever, for nearly half the price. This is what I got for a relative who just wants things to work, with updates.
Still, the OP9 Pro is a great device to tinker with, if that's what you enjoy. And if you're here on XDA then you probably do.
