[Q] Ho to kompletely dump calls from specific phone-numbrs - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know I can redirect telephon-numbers directly to the phonebox, but then I get a note about that every time it happens. I would like to be able to completely dump calls from specified phone numbers, like from sellers, the phone shall note ring, no notes and no message to the caller. Is this possible?

I have checked a lot of blacklist apps, still I have not found any which don't want want weird rights or either runs ads or only mute the telephone, the "missing call" message come anyway after.
I want no ringing (muting), and no "missing calls" message, and no ads.

Either are you joking or misunderstood me, or did I misunderstand what above app does.
To make my self more clear:
I want no ringing (muting), and no "missing calls" message from numbers on my blacklist, and no ads in the app I will use for that, if I need an app.
There is a function for directing telephone-numbers or contacts directly to phone-box, why can't there be a function for just ignore, dump telephone-numbers, cooontacts on a specific list. For example, i could (and do) put all sandwiched telephone-numbers in one contact, then make all calls to that contact, just disappear?

Providers charge for that service and many people want it done on their phone. I am looking for that kind of app too.
Assuming your phone will accept the call, I guess you can use "Tasker" to do just about anything, eg, answer the call, initiate media file (your message), hang-up.

Good to know that tasker can do this but it will only play a media file of my voice record I am looking for a dedicated app which works as answering machine & then let the "unknown" caller record a message which is stored on my phone.
Basically I get to many spam calls which if I block using the white list, it also blocks genuine calls from those who may want to contact me but are not in my contact list, answering machine will allow to leave them a 1 min message so I can get back to those people.
Anybody knows if such apps exist?
Have you tried Google voice? It has a voicemail service and I think you can apply it to any number

Is this for all calls or just individual contacts?
For contacts you get the option whilst in the contacts profile. Click the dots (options) button and select " All calls to voicemail"

If you long press a contact it should give you an option to sent the call directly to voicemail.

[Q] Sending "Private number" to voicemail

I would like to find a way to send incoming "Private number" calls to voicemail, without downloading an app (with the security risks involved with this, as all apps I found want to read phone #, all of my contacts, and have access to the internet).
In Googling I found that on other, older, phones you could create a contact with "Private number" in the mobile phone field and select the "All calls to voicemail". I tried this on my Galaxy Nexus running 4.0.4 and it doesn't seem to be working.
Is there another built-in procedure that works to accomplish this?
Or does anybody know an app that is not a security risk (i.e. does not request access to the internet and/or my phone and/or my contacts)?
BTW, these are the permissions that one of these Apps (this one called Calls Blacklist) is requesting:
DIRECTLY CALL PHONE NUMBERS
SEND SMS MESSAGES
RECEIVE SMS
READ SMS OR MMS
EDIT SMS OR MMS
NETWORK COMMUNICATION
FULL INTERNET ACCESS
READ CONTACT DATA
WRITE CONTACT DATA
READ PHONE STATE AND IDENTITY
INTERCEPT OUTGOING CALLS
MODIFY/DELETE USB STORAGE CONTENTS MODIFY/DELETE SD CARD CONTENTS
RETRIEVE RUNNING APPS
CHANGE WI-FI STATE
PREVENT TABLET FROM SLEEPING PREVENT PHONE FROM SLEEPING
MODIFY GLOBAL SYSTEM SETTINGS
CHANGE/INTERCEPT NETWORK SETTINGS AND TRAFFIC
DISPLAY SYSTEM-LEVEL ALERTS
You can't have an app send private calls to voicemail, but not be granted permission to see who is calling.
That would be like me saying to you; "I'm sorry sir, you're not appropriately dressed for this restaurant." over the phone.
Read reviews, not all of those apps are bad (some are though), and most of them will do exactly what you are looking to accomplish.
Security risks? The app kinda needs that information. You're better off not installing any apps as any of them could steal your valuable phone number.

Duh, of course, it's not listed above as one of the unneeded permissions above.
But none of these are even remotely needed to do the job:
INTERCEPT OUTGOING CALLS
FULL INTERNET ACCESS
READ CONTACT DATA
WRITE CONTACT DATA
RETRIEVE RUNNING APPS
DIRECTLY CALL PHONE NUMBERS
SEND SMS MESSAGES
EDIT SMS OR MMS

How exactly could a reviewer know that the app author isn't selling all of my contacts to some spammer? The tenet of good security is to not leave the door open unecessarily.
Besides the fact that yet another app means yet another thing that can go wrong (battery drain, system instability, etc.)
Back to the original question: "Is there another built-in procedure that works to accomplish this?"

Get one that doesn't ask for those permissions then. You're so paranoid that maybe a smartphone just isn't for you. Ever thought of who could be hacking your Wi-fi? They could steal and intercept ANYTHING sent through your home internet.

If you're willing to install Google Voice (and really, it doesn't matter what permissions it asks for, you're running Google's OS which has access to EVERYTHING, so there's not much to think about) and switch to a Google Voice number, you can set it through the website settings that anonymous callers are directly routed to voicemail.

Agree about this--somehow I got painted as someone who trusts nobody, but of course while I wouldn't give my house keys to anyone, friends and cleaning service all have them.I do run many apps from trusted providers!

This is the issue: "Private number" callers will still call my regular, non Google Voice number, so it doesn't really do the trick.[/QUOTE]
So it seems that Google removed a feature that was available in previous versions of Android? Seems strange...

Yeah, the replies haven't been particularly helpful so far. It's not "paranoid" to at least question the security of these apps, although the most popular ones are most likely fine.
You have a point with the non-Voice number. There's also the "no-turning-back" solution of porting your existing number to Google Voice for $20, which would then fix the problem, but it's not particularly ideal unless you're 100% sold on GV.

Port your actual phone number to Google Voice and ask for a new one from the carrier. Thats what I did. I setup a contact in my phone with my old number and have it setup to send the caller ID as my old number. So any call to that number all display as "Personal Call". The carrier number is my "Work Number".
I actually have 2 Google Voice numbers and my normal Verizon one (3 total). One for Personal, one for my side Website business, and my normal job.
I don't restrict any callers but there are options in there for unknowns and the likes. At least you can setup CALL SCREENING, where it asks for the persons name. So I can answer ANY call, it will say, "Call from... Donut Marketing" and it gives me 2 options, 1 to take the call... and 2 to send to VM.
If you press 2, it then says, "Ok I've sent the caller to VM. Press STAR at any time to join the call". So if the VM is someone I WANT to speak with, I just pop in and say Hi. Most Marketers will shy away from leaving their name... no name, no call. They typically hang up immediately. Still prevents me from having to talk to them and try to get off the phone.
Even when they do leave me a Google Voice Mail, it gets translated to text and emailed to me so I can read it seconds after they've left it. Then just delete like a normal email.
Super easy.
You can probably also call up your carrier and say you are getting lots of Marketing calls from Unknown numbers and want them blocked. They'll probably want to charge you a fee... but maybe not.

Just got my lg g3 yesterday and having issues getting this to work. Coming from and old htc it was easy as going into the contact and hitting block.
I have figured out how to block calls from this number but blocking texts i cannot do. I have found how to block through both the call app and the call log by holding down kn the number. When i do this on a text in the message app the only thing that pops up is the contact and the delete option.
Please help me find spam directory you are mentioning. I have the lg g3 from sprint runing 4.4.2 .
Thanks
Does this work from any screen other than call logs? I'd like to block some numbers on my old spam list _before_ they call me for the first time on this phone.

There are call blocking apps, and an Xposed module which allow you to block SMS, if you are rooted.

I would rather not root my phone just yet. I may go in and look at the htc m8 and see if they offer this feature still.
When in call logs hold the number and u will get options, choose reject call..
Call Filter doesn't require root. I have used it for over a year on multiple phones blocks calls and I believe texts but I don't need to block texts so haven't tried.

Go into the dialer hit the menu key and there will be a call reject tab. You can do it from there.
not working for me
I used to be able to long press on a number from my recent call list and add it to a reject call list (this was on my Samsung Galaxy S3) .... on my LG G3 I don't get that option ... only "view", "edit" "copy" "clear" and "clear logs". What am I doing wrong?

[Q] Need help finding the impossible

First of all Good Day to all.
The reason I'm here is out of frustration. I have read this site for a long time, but never joined. I'm coming here because there are a lot of very knowledgeable people that may have the answer that I have been looking for and up until now can not find.
I NEED an app that seems to be impossible to find, at lease for me. What I need is an app that will allow a selected group of people to call AND text with notifications without other notifications sounding. I want a "set it forget it" app that once set it will do this automatically every night.
The Note 4 has a "Blocking mode" which would be perfect if it would allow both SMS notifications and call notifications to come through for a selected group of people without having to check all notifications to come through.
I have sons that seem to never call and only text when checking in. I set my phone to go silent at around 12 and come back on at 6am. With this, calls will come through for my favorites but in order for text sounds to come through I have to allow all sounds to come through which defeats the silent mode.
Is there such a thing? Is this impossible to do? Am I doing something wrong in settings?
Can you please advise? Thanking you in advance.
Google tasker block calls and text. It may work for you. Did a quick read and some had made profiles that of you weren't in contacts it would block them, or send to voice mail... hope that helps

I needed something to allow text and calls through not block them. I wanted a simple app that I could set a time to turn off all sounds at night and then turn them back on in the morning. In this time frame I wanted to allow a group of people to be able to either text or call me and it would ring, blocking all others contacts and notifications. There is a ton of apps that will allow calls to come through but not too many that will allow both calls and text to come through.
I just downloaded an app and I will give it a try. It's called. CritiCall Pro. This isn't an all inclusive app so I will use it with the "Blocking mode" that is installed in the Note 4.
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
Try the app Do Not Disturb from playstore. It lets you control messages and phone calls during quiet hours and any other time of the day that you choose. There is a trial version and paid version.
Try automateit. It's not specifically for this but you can set triggers to silent certain numbers or silent all numbers except the ones you want to go through.
Maybe blacklist is the one for you

The Note 4 native app is great if I only wanted to allow/block calls, I want it to be able to allow text and calls from a group and in order to do that I have to a not block notifications and by doing that it allows all notifications to chime through email, calendar etc. If they would separate notifications and text alerts there would be no problem.
So far the "Do not Disturb" app is doing what I need it to. It allows both Text and Calls to come through from a group without all the other notifications that I don't want. I will continue to see if this works out without any hiccups.
