Bricked HTC Desire 816G dual sim. Stuck with bootloop. - Desire 816 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My mobile is the other variant of HTC Desire 816. Please don't post links of 816. Mine is 816G the poor Mediatek variant with chipset MT6582.
I was trying to unlock the bootloader and followed the steps mentioned at HTC Dev but the problem I had was oem get_identifier_token returned command not found.
I was trying to figure out this issue and was exploring the commands of fastboot.
Due to my ill fate I flashed boot.img of some custom rom with my device and without any issues it just went on successful.
Since then boot loop is going on. It is internal batter so wasn't able to shut it down. There was one possible rom on the internet for my variant which I flashed and the results weren't fruitful. Now I am in a state where every partition of the phone is flashed with a .img file.
Can somebody suggest me a way out?

Hi
You can try the backup in this thread

I followed the thread above and got hands on some cwm patched boot.img and flashed it. Now I am lost. I cant access fastboot. DOnno why and neither the recover works. Both option in bootloader make the phone go into boot loop again. Sometimes it gets stuck at the bootscreen as if it doesn't know what to do next. It just shows HTC powered by android and that's all FREEZE.
May be the new boot.img corrupted existing fastboot and recovery??
I was stuck with this dumb phone since 3 days. Help is greatly appreciated.
And bro please see that mine is 816G which isn't officially in XDA. The one listed is 816 which is a snapdragon variant. This version 816G is a Mediatek variant.
If somebody have a clue on what's next please let me know or if you have stock img files for boot,system and recovery please share them.
Update....
Phone's stuck. Unable to shutdown pressing the power button even for longer duration.

Post the stock boot.img and system.img
If at all any of you wish to help me or if you have the same mobile as mine, please... please... post the stock images of boot and system. If I am not wrong everything will be fine if I flash them.
Please see that it's the Asian or Indian variant of HTC Desire 816g that initial Quad core version(Mediatek MT6582). not the Octa core version.
Awaiting help.

Thread will be moved to 816 Q/A.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/help
Even though the chipsets are different , the desire 816 forums is used by 816G users for development.
Good day !

OK it worked... *PARTIALLY
I was flashing things in a brute force method. Downloading every possible rom for MT6582 flashing with fastboot and there were failures every where but I had a combination in an attempt and I just rebooted the phone :laugh: that wonderful feeling when you hear that dead device making some sound.
Well it booted and it was fine.
Things were good only till here. The system.img I flashed was from a Qmobile stock rom. The boot.img is from a patched HTC Desire 816G(Yes my version).
Problem 1: IMEI's unavailable so no question of SIM Card detection.
Problem 2: This is kind of different. That phone had hardware buttons so no soft buttons for Home or Back but HTC doesn't have those. I was first happy as I could use my mobile at least partially but now I had to swtich off the phone to get to home screen. Moving on further Will post if something happens.
For those who wish to try the files I've used.
The system.img is from the second link named QMobile-i7_Stock_image located at labandroid with a tag mt6582
The boot.img from http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-816/help/root-desire-816g-dual-sim-t2950583/page6
There is a shared link for MTK droid in google drive and in that go to recovery folder the first boot.img is the one I tried.

you can try this miui rom but the imei details have been flushed during flashing.
In your case you need the original backup of the your device to recover your IMEI details.

[Q] Stuck in fastboot mode!

hi guys, i got a new HTC ONE M8 from China Mobile 3 days ago, when i got home i realized that it works with Sina Weibo instead of asking me for my google acount like all the previous Android phones i had before, i went to the store asked for a refund.. not happening. I paid 800 bucks for a phone i cant use.. so i went ahead and tried to solve the issue and root it, i followed a threat here every instruction but i messed up somehow and at the end i wasnt able to enter the recovery mode, so i couldnt install the rom i downloaded (this is the guide i followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705292 ) so being unable to do anything i went to a tech today, he charged me 100 bucks to "solve the problem" and he was able to S-OFF the phone and i was finally able to get into recovery mode with TWRP but he said he didnt have any rom cause the phone was too new.. so i came back home where i had the ones i downloaded from the link i posted above... followed the insutrctions and installed the rom, everything seemed to be fine but then when it rebooted, nothing happens, the phone is stuck on fastboot mode and wont load into the operating system, i have tried to reboot a million times, updated the kernel , updated the twrp... still nothing. i am in china and have been trying to find another tech.. no luck at all. can someone help me or give me ideas on what to do? i would really appreciate the help!

You should be able to just flash any GSM ROM unless the Chinese model is a different variant. You could have bricked it, never a good idea to flash incorrect ROM for a device.
May I ask what ROM did you flash and for what device?

What does "totally dead" mean? Any charge LED? Any response when connected to a computer.
Also, not a good idea to dig up a thread from 5 months ago, with limited relevance. The top post did different steps, and was stuck in fastboot, which doesn't sound the same as your situation.

Bricked htc desire 816 dual sim international version

Hello guys, I recently bought Htc desire 816 dual sim mobile from Dubai. I unlocked the bootloader via htc to root that device and in the process I bricked my phone. I am unable to find the stock rom anywhere on internet and for a surprise, I couldnt find this phone model on htc website. Can anyone please help bringing my device alive ?
Although I managed to get the cwm recovery installed on mobile, I couldnt find rest of the files needed to boot the system normally. It keeps on going to cwm recovery only instead of booting to the normal screen. Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaase help me with the stock rom (not chinese though)
Regards
vbrsekhar
Please ask questions in the dedicated Q&A forum, Development & Original Development forums are not for posting questions.
Thanks

Yeah, that was my last resort, but again everything there is in chinese and not sure if it is dual sim version or not. So it is risky again. Btw, this has only Sense 5.5 and not 6 But better than having nothing though.
Vbrsekhar, have u tried sense 5.5 rom?
Sent from my HTC Desire 816 dual sim using Tapatalk
I don't want to install the Chinese rom as I can't read Chinese and although many bits are in english, some Chinese apps and other pop ups annoyed me much and so waiting for a proper English version. It is ok if I can get only Sense 5.5 rom from anyone but English dual sim version is important. Sense 6 would be great if available.
Ps: I screwed up my mobile again with kingsense2 as I now lost my recovery too. I probably will have to install it again.

816G (indian dual sim) no rom installed, only cwm-recovery

Hi everyone, I searched for a solution to this problem since yesterday, but without any success so far.
My situation is the following:
I bought a HTC 816G (MT6592) with no rom installed. Only thing accessible is CWM recovery.
When I want to charge the phone, it shows a battery icon idicating that it's being charged and then reboots and shows it again. It does this over and over again with seemingly no progress in the charging process.
When I unplug it and try boot it normally, it shows a "Mi.com" icon, but then reboots again and again.
The only thing I can do is booting to recovery. Even though it does not seem to be charing, I can still operate the recovery mode without it being plugged in to a charger.
In the recovery it says "rua1 CWM v.5.5.0.4 for HTC Desire 816G d" at the top of the screen and "CWM automade 03.01.2016 01:12:51" at the bottom of the screen.
From there I tried installing roms which either failed to install or did not boot up properly after successful installation.
In the recovery menu under "advanced" and then "show log" it says:
ro.hardware=mt6592
ro.revision=0
ro.emmc=0
sys.usb.vid=0BB4
init.svc.recovery=running
sys.usb.config=mass_storage.adb
service.adb.root=1
init.svc.adbd=restarting
sys.usb.state=mass_storage.adb
I appreciate any advice, I just want to have this phone operational.
Many thanks in advance

Don't have your version 816, mine is the single SIM Qualcomm version so I'm sorry I can't be of more help to you but one word of warning. I believe the 816g is the Mediatek processor not the Snapdragon and some of the methods and advice you get might not take that into consideration. From what I've learned some things work the same but a lot do not, I.E. rooting procedures. Just be careful and verify compatibility with your device before flashing anything not 816g specific.

We solved the problem. Since there is an mk-chip installed and vollnoob was having trouble with a bootloop, the only solution to flash is removing the backcover and disconnecting the battery, since flashtool won't work unless the device is turned completely off.
Normal 816 roms won't work either, since there is no way to flash a 816 Rom using mkdroidtools.
We used this rom for MT6592 chipset.

No working ROM for my P8000

Hi,
2 weeks ago I got my P8000 from the german elephone distribution, it came with android 6. It seems to be an other version of the phone, the fingerprint sensor has moved up near the camera.
So my problem is, that I can't find a working rom for this device. I tried to root the phone and after that it did not boot anymore, so I tried to flash the 6.0 stock rom but the screen is white with moving stripes.
Where can I get a working rom for my phone?
Nobody with a new version phone who could take a dump for me?

I think you should ask elephone (on facebook or some other social medias) for a dump, I don't see any chances that there are many people out there that own the 2016 version... :/
I wrote to the elephone facebook contact but they just pointed me to the BBS with the not working 'old' Rom file.
So if I could get another new P8000 would it be easy to take a dump oft it and flash it to my phone?

I think you won't have to buy a new device, just point out to them that, that rom on the forum is for the old version and it's not working for your's. I hope they'll provide it for you.
Hey!
I just received this version and would be willing to take the dump, but I don't know how.
MTKDroidTools says unknown rom structure and doesn't allow me to do it.
Any tips?
Emile
Hey Emileh these are great news! I cannot help you with this, but surely someone here can!
Many thanks,

Sorry, I don't understand
I have at least two P8000(B) - and bricked one of them see this post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/help/stock-rom-p8000b-t3434477
The good news are: I still have a working one and could use this as a source to generate a firmware file... if someone could tell me how
I think I have to do the procedure with the SP Flashtool because the display of the faulty phone is not usable

Same as mine. The display controller seems to be another one.
I'm guessing thats just a kernel problem, right? The drivers in the kernel?

I think I have to do the procedure with the SP Flashtool because the display of the faulty phone is not usable

P8000B is almost impossible to brick. If you install SP flash, and download the correct recovery (like TWRP), and the correct version ROM's with scatter.txt you can recovery the phone in just about any circumstance. I put the P8000B recovery files on my PC, Formatted whole flash and bootloader. After that, the phone was bricked, and wouldn't turn on. Loaded the P8000B system recovery scatter.txt, and SP flash installed it perfectly. Booted fine. With SP flash it's almost impossible not to be able to restore the P8000B as long as you have proper files,

there is no Stock ROM, no scatter file and I think not even a TWRP or Philz Recovery available for the 'new version' of the P8000 - I call it P8000(B) because it is written on the box of the phone.
Emileh made a good description of the problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/general/2016-version-fingerprint-scanner-t3436270
But you could help us if you can provide the necessary files....
Is it the us version? It's the same one I have. I'll post a video how to soon
******EDIT******
FrauHofrat, sorry I did not realize that there was a "Rev.2" out for the P8000 US Version. I am surprised Elephone hasn't released a flash-able version for SPflash yet. Honestly, it would be in their best interest to ship any Rev of their US versions w/ TWRP and freely distributing flash-able images/scatter.txt, so if it gets bricked during a failed OTA update, folks would not have to send their phones back to be fixed. I have the Rev 1 of that phone.
Any word on the Elephone forum regarding the Rev. 2 version for images/scatter.txt? I will keep an eye out. Is there any specific model related info that shows up in About Phone, or written on the box/battery?

We're not talking about the P8000-B here, which I believe has different LTE bands so it's better suited for the USA
We're talking about P8000 6.0, which is the newer version of the phone that's currently being shipped in Europe. It has some small technical changes and stock Android 6
Edit: by the way, the box does say P8000(B), but I don't really trust that description
Hi guys,
I was just looking at the elephone forum and found this: http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-11929-1-1.html#.V7WrLDWbfSY . There's the stock rom link for the 2nd revision of the P8000, so hope you can get it working properly again.
@ardrift
Thank you for this information - the ROM works and the phone is alive again!
But there is still one thing to do: because of flashing the wrong firmware my phone lost the IMEI. This should'nt be a problem on rooted devices but the stock ROM resists all attempts to be rooted

Can you try dialing *#*6813#*#* in the stock dialer app? Someone on the elephone forum has written this as a solution, altough I don't know if it works, or how would it work... If you are stuck you can upload a screenshot, I can look at it
PS: Your IMEI numbers should be sticked on your battery, you can see them if you remove the phone's back.
Change IMEI on P8000
@ardrift:
first I thought this is a joke but actually it worked :victory:
with *#*#6813#*#* entered on the stock dialer you can acess the "IMEI-Tool" which allows you to enter a new IMEI for both SIM cards. The new IMEI stay permanent even after reboot and this also works on 'old' P8000.
Sometimes life can be so easy

Questions about developpement

Hello there !
I got the RN8Pro, last week and i unlocked it today. I naturally started to look how to root/install TWRP. I found numerous threads with instructions on how to do it but i also found a lot of warnings that it may brick the device, and that if that happens i need a special account to be able to unbrick it. It seems that some methods will work for the Chinese version while bricking others and vice versa. I have the Global ROM version 11.0.3.0(PGGEUXM) and the model of my phone is M1906G7G. Do you think it's safe for me to try flashing TWRP or at least root through ADB ?
I have also searched for custom ROMs and did not find any. The phone is relatively new so i wouldn't mind if i had to wait a bit, but i have also read that people just don't want to develop for it because of the Mediatek chip. Everyone says that development is not possible because there is no source code the the Mediatek chip. But here it says that the sources have been released partially here and the rest here. Is there something that's missing from these repos that makes development impossible ?
I also would like to become more than just a user and learn how to make custom roms. I found this thread that compiles some guides but a lot of them seem a bit outdated and I'm lost. Is that a good starting point or i should i go elsewhere ?
Thanks ^^

I did, but what is said there doesn't apply to me. I don't live near a center and I bought it on AliExpress, so I don't tink that I have a guarantee that I could use.

I would love to help though. But your post is quite cryptic. More details could be nice like what are the risks, what is need to be done, what to do in case of a problem. Plus, it's my only phone ATM and I am poor ^^
It Is Safe As Well As Not Safe.
I Had Bricked My Redmi Note 8 Pro(8GB) And I Had To Visit Mi Service Centre As I Required Xiaomi Authorised Account Which I Don't Have.
Some Peoples Bricked Their Phone After Flashing TWRP And Some After Flashing Wrong Boot.img
I Flashed TWRP Successfully But When I Rooted My Phone, I Faced Bootloop Problem Then To Solve That Problem I Accidently Flashed Wrong Boot.img File( 10.0.4 Boot File Into 11.0.3) Which Resulted Into Bootloop
But If You Follow All The Steps Carefully Then It Is Absolutely Safe.

Mine has 6gb ram. Which TWRP img did you use?
When it's in bootloop, all I need to do is hold power up to get to fastboot so I can flash boot.img right?

I Flashed This TWRP Through CMD
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...overy-unofficial-twrp-recovery-redmi-t4002397
You Need To Press&Hold Power+Vol Down Button To Enter Into Fastboot Mode.
When TWRP Flashed Successfully Through CMD You Have To Immediately Disconnect Your Phone From PC Otherwise Your Phone Will Load Stock Recovery.
