Deep sleep with OCF stock recovery.img on rooted sprint s6 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6

I rooted my sprint s6 with the tmo version of auto root and lost deep sleep.
Today Samsung released the OCF firmware for our device, (link below) and i flashed the recovery img from the file in flashify and now my device is sleeping like a baby, so no more battery drain
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G920P/

everything worked for me, after all that i flashed twrp and got stuck at the samsung logo. Re ran auto root via odin to fix it then reflashed the recovery.img). I just installed cpu spy and havent tested it long but confirming it does deep sleep! Thank you!
Do you still have to enter msl to tether?

The file from sammobile takes forever to download. Can anyone confirm if my md5 sum of 3ae1e2467494c87194e8973c4cc6676e is good?

Here. I have uploaded just the recover img itself. http://d-h.st/RWcM

Might be a dumb question but had to ask, if the phone is not rooted how can I get in deep sleep?

I flashed recovery.img with flashify yesterday just like OP and deep sleep is back for me as well.

yes seem if you use the customer recover for tmobile s6 it does not let the sprint s6 sleep so flashing the stock sprint s6 recovery
let the phoen sleep again

Don't you lose root if you flash the this recovery??

My battery seems to be running down pretty fast and I was wondering how you can tell if you have lost deep sleep or not. I got stuck at the yellow spark screen a couple days ago and had to unroot and then root again and was wondering if I need to use a new stock image to help with the battery life. Thoughts?

There's a few free apps, cpuspy will log how much time the CPU spends at different frequencies

Didn't seem to help
I ran this file and lost root and also my phone won't go into deep sleep. I was able to re-root the phone with TWRP but it will not sleep even when I put it in power saving mode. What could or should I try next?

I found this information helpful and it fixed the deep sleep issue.

So the new firmware fixes the deep sleep issue?
Just got s6 Edge with Sprint, about to use the Tmobile auto root to gain root. But wanted to verify this issue was fixed first.
As I understand, I will trip Knox and likely can't use mobile pay for credit card payments from device. This will be a reality with all future root options as no known root method that preserves Knox or mobile pay is available or has been discussed by chainfire, correct?
I'm about to do this but on the fence. Not sure I want to lose nfc/Samsung pay. Not sure why I need root anyway. I'll restore user apps with titanium and run stock rom with wanam on this Galaxy s6 Edge.

[Q] Please Help with softbrick

I have T-Mobiles Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919). I upgraded from 4.2.2 to 4.3 yesterday, rooted, and was removing bloatware when something I deleted screwed up my gallery so I decided to re-do everything (go back to stock) and start all over. Of course that was a fail and now my screen says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." (didn't work)(cannot get into download mode or recovery) tried restoring through Odin (did this with an Galaxy s2 before and it fixed the problem) But did not work either!!! At the top of the screen it says:
Odin mode
Product name: sgh-m919
Current Binary: custom
System Status: custom
Knox Kernel Lock: 0x0
Knox Warrany Void: 0x1
CSB-Config-LSB: 0x30
Write Protection: Enabled
eMMC BURST MODE enabled
START (224, 1440)
SW REV. CHECK FAIL : fused : 4 , Binary : 1
I had originally thought that Knox was just a app, but know better now. I am downloading the 4.3 firmware (6 more hours to download) to flash through Odin, but expect the same results. Any ideas on how to fix this issue or do I own a new paper-weight??? I have read through many forums and cannot find a solution.....
Odin flash the 4.3 stock tar and root with Saferoot Verizon method or CF-Autoroot (recommended). If you want autobloatware cleaner, search for TrulyClean. Good luck

I downloaded the 4.3 stock tar and tried to flash, but didn't work. I think there was something wrong with the file so I am going to try to download it from another source and try again.... wish me luck!!! I like to use CF-Autoroot.... I will look for truly clean and try it, because the one I've been using doesn't work on 4.3

Yeah, with large downloads like that sometimes they mess up. You can run a MD5 hash/checksum to make sure the file you downloaded didnt mess up. But download it again from somewhere and give it a shot. No reason why you won't be able to Odin

Once you are back to stock 4.3 and not rooted all you need to do to root
the phone is to download and Odin flash cf-autoroot.
Here is the direct download link for cf-autoroot in case you want to root your phone:
http://download.chainfire.eu/328/CF...jfltetmo-jfltetmo-sghm919.zip?retrieve_file=1
Unzip cf-autoroot into an empty folder on your computer's desktop, use
Odin which is also included in the zipfile to flash cf-autoroot in pda slot.
Once you are rooted you will need to flash a custom recovery like cwm or twrp.
Good luck!

[Q] New to Rooting, S4 M919 4.3 MK2 Tmobile Knox

Whoa, this has got to be one of the most unorganized forums on the internet. LoL, sorry, its just soooo hard to find clear, up to date info, that I had to make a thread here.
I basically decided its time to update my phone and I want to root it, mainly to get battery savings and stop google from running all those apps in the background (who knows what info they are gathering).
Anyways, like the title states,
I'm on Tmobile, with a M919 on 4.3 with MK2, I would like to go to kitkat and root and NOT TRIP KNOX, if possible.
I'd also be interested in custom roms, if possible, like CyanogenMod... But of course, I'd like to keep my warranty, as I've already had to use it once, and I still have 2 whole months left and wifi is acting up (I get a lot of unstable wifi messages recently, didn't check my router yet but my laptop is working fine....)
Your help is appreciated.
Thx
ohh, my wife's phone is on 4.2.2, she is due for an update too, she wants the emoticons so that's one "major" reason to update...
Perhaps I can switch phones with her, and update that one to a rooted 4.4.2 without tripping knox, if possible?? Please point me in the right direction... I also like many of the features that dbombmod rom has, like call recording and more..
Yours is gonna trip Knox.
Trade her for yours. And update your modem to nb4 this way:

cool thanks, I will read up on safe root, but it looks like it may work. So once I'm rooted, I can install any rom right, even the 4.4.2 with knox removed and it would be fine right? And also the NB4 modem as well, and any kernel too?
My wife is hesistant to switch with me now because of the wifi unstable issue I have. I think I may have fixed it by clearing the Wifi Direct and Wifi Direct apps cache and data. Hopefully it is only a software problem, and not a hardware problem.
oyyy, after further reading, this does root the phone, but doesn't unlock the bootloader, and without an unlocked bootloader you cannot install custom roms, but I still didn't read if I can install another modem or another kernel???
what about towelroot? Does that unlock the bootloader?
tried towelroot on 4.3...
didn't work
updated to 4.4.2,
still doesn't work
ughhh
ohhh well, I guess I will switch phones with wife...
Lol. You can still download custom ROMs with a locked bootloader. If you do flash the NB4 modem you will definately trip KNOX. If you flash a non stock kernel you will trip KNOX and if you flash a custom recovery you will trip KNOX.

I finished setting up my old phone for my wife. I "Turned off" many of the apps that are installed that we never use, so her battery should do ok on 4.4.2
I just did towelroot on her phone, and it has instant root access, no reboot required or anything. Root Checker says I have root already. yay. Now I guess I need to update with modded firmware. Is there any particular order I have to install stuff?
Can I start with the rom, then modem, then kernel or is there a particular order I need to install stuff. And what should I use, odin or what?

You can flashbin any order. Some ROMs come with a kernel that they recommend but you can flash a different one if you prefer. If you DL Titanium Backup from the play store you can freeze any unwanted apps completely instead of just turning them off.

just to clarify, I did the towel root on her old phone on 4.2.2 which is my phone now.
towelroot didn't work on 4.3 nor 4.4.2
I just did a wipe on the 4.2.2 with clockworkmod setup and tried to install the fenny stock 4.4.2 rom and it came up with an error, something about expects 5 args got 4
should I use odin or something?

Thanks, I searched and found out that TWRP is the way to go. I used flashify to install it and I was able to flash the new rom. Works good. I also got call recording to work, but not with wifi calls, is that something that never worked or its just a bug in my phone? I'm thinking of trying other roms to see if they got call recording with wifi calls, but that would take a lot of time.
I also did install the NB4 modem flash (twice like the instructions said) and its good, got 2 extra bars (but I doubt my signal got any better, they just want you to see more bars)

root: there are several methods to root first and mostly recommended flash Philz recovery for the D2Lte in Odin just make sure your on the latest one then root your stock rom with the option under Philz settings called Re-root(SuperSU) or you can use any recovery and flash the SuperSU zip from Chain fire or you can just use TowelRoot for the actual rooting process then download SuperSU and BusyBox from the PlayStore

Towelroot worked in my case. Threw an error near the end and closed but root checker said i was rooted. Philz took care of the rest

When I did root checker on Towelroot it came back as not rooted. Same with SRS. I'll look into Philz this weekend when I can spend a whole day making sure it's done correctly.
Philz will do it guaranteed. Just gotta install supersu from play store

The only thing I've succeeded in doing is voiding my warranty. Still not rooted.

did you uncheck the Auto-Reboot in Odin and manually turn off your phone and then booting it manually into Philz Recovery and then using the option under Philz settings called Re-root System (SuperSU) ?

I picked up one of the Spark enabled S3s as well, I Odin'ed the latest Philz set to check for root and to root in Phil's, rebooted and installed SuperSU on the play store. Had zero issues getting root on stock. Which version of Philz are you using? Have you tried to flash any ROMs? There are a myriad of AOSP based ROMs too choose from.
Do you believe it will work for my version? Could you post the links you used to get everything please? You were successful and i just want to be suren
Also. Im usint Haimdall on Linux Mint. Anyone know od any issues or special procedure.
Thanks you guys for all the help

so here is the Philz recovery
if Philz doesn't work, since you'll have it installed here is the Stock NDC pre-rooted rom that you can use Philz to flash

I don't remember at this point. When I went to the page to DL the Philz data there were several versions, I grabbed the one with the highest number (appearing to be the most recent).

The latest is philz_touch_6.48.4-d2lte.zip make sure it's that one since it's the one I used
I've tried all these
http://www.itsaboutmobile.com/2013/10/android-rooting-software.html
Except the ones that cost. No dice. Philz could stand one source with a more detailed instruction set than "Load, run, done". I just want to eliminate certain intrusive apps without having to become an Android master programmer in the process..
Suggestions on custom ROMs for SPH-L710T
Any one have any ideas. I heard Conquest Singularity 9.4 is great, BUT there are radio and MMS issues. I also heard about the axis coming UN calibrated. Any ideas? I have rooted with Philz Touch latest no problem. I would tell anyone now with this model that it is safe to root with Philz. I used JODIN the online variation of ODIN. Worked no problem. It wanted a PIT file. I downloaded the PIT from the phone using Heimdall. Then I loaded SuperSU Pro 2.01 and again, no problem. I really only need the HotSpot to work now. I would like a custom ROM that is leaner and faster, but at least a working HotSpot.

Singularity is a awesome rom. I ran it for quite a while with minimal problems(most was just user error) As for AOSP I have been using the CM11 M10 Snapshot, will excellent results.
Philz will root it. Why hes havin issues, is beyond me. I just rooted 4 710t's with philz via odin.
Yes, the rotation is jacked up with everything but stock. Theres a bunch of guys workin to find a fix. Tried various kernels and such but a solution hasnt been found that im aware.
Hotspot- wifi router 6.0 in playstore works. Thats verified, on stock. Its not free, but its cheap.
Hope that helps.

You can root it using the T-Mobile S6 chainfire auto-root tar that you flash in ODIN, but I wouldn't recommend it right now, there's pretty bad battery drain after rooting because it's not the right recovery for our device.
I don't mind a battery drain. Its that I have a note 2 and am gonna upgrade to a new phone because I am selling my phone. I use my phone for my internet for computer and watching TV at home so if I don't get it rooted or custom ROM with WiFi thether or mobile hotspot I am gonna be internetless and forget that. I am sure someone will make a custom ROM I just need to find out where to get tar files for root and tar files to unroot aoni can get them and root phone and when they figure out phone better and ROMs etc I will switch it. Can you provide me with info links etc please? Thank you soo much for your reply

Just download this and extract the zip: http://download.chainfire.eu/731/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-zerofltetmo-zerofltetmo-smg920t.zip There will be an ODIN exe in there, flash the tar file in ODIN with your phone attached via USB in download mode and it'll be rooted!

Also TWRP for the T-Mobile S6 might work as well, I assume you can flash it just fine, I haven't tried though

Does this mean it's "safe" to root using the T-Mobile Chainfire method. Is the No-sleep issue the only one?

That may be true but I find it curious that there is only one post in the Development section and no custom ROMS. Frankly I can wait until Chainfire or whomever makes a good root and unlock. Call me cautious.

Fair enough, i waited to hear some feedback before trying. But everything works i promise :good: can at least remove everything not wanted, in the mean time while dev is making its way.
Hoping to put up a deodexed rooted base this weekend.
I got the hotspot / tethering working perfectly without rooting. Besides since there is no root available I read it will permanently disable Samsung Pay

Stuck in reboot loop after CF-Auto-Root

Hi All,
I purchased my Note 4 from Swappa, it already came in with Knox 0x1 (4) but it was restored back to stock everything. I recently upgraded to 5.1.1 (via Official OTA) and Sprint has turned my phone into an Ad Beacon. I get all sorts of stuff get installed from Sprint Zone to Avatars for Voicemail and a ton of apps that I need out of my phone.
I decided to try the CF-Auto-Root method. This worked for me in the past with my Note II. Well, I was not so lucky this time. I booted to Download Mode, ran Odin, and PDA installed the autoroot TAR.
I got the red pirate droid screen, and then the phone rebooted. Since then it's been stuck in a reboot loop over and over.
Is my phone bricked? I realize I made a very dumb mistake by doing this now. Because I need my phone the next 2 days and I might have to call Sprint and have them re-activate one of my dumb phones if I can't figure this out.
Question is, is the phone done for? Or is there a way I can bring it back from the dead? I am currently download what I think is the stock FW for the Note 4 (5.1.1) from Sammobile. Its going at 200kb/s so It won't finish for another 2 hours. Only problem is. I have no idea what to do with this file once I get it.
If someone here can please point me in the right direction. I'd greatly appreciate it.
CF autoroot does not work on 5.1.1....odin stock sprint rom and then flash a custom rom with root baked in the rom...recommend Sprint HybridX ver3 as it has anything you could want in a rom and is very stable...you'll need to install custom recovery such as TWRP to flash the custom rom

Thanks for the response. I'm currently flashing using:
ALL_SPT_N910PVPU4COG5_N910PSPT4COG5_CL5303209_QB5691107_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5.zip
It's doing it's thing at the moment.
I tried flashing TWRP earlier, but had no luck. Could you please point me at any resource that can help me get that? Assuming this stock I'm using will work.
EDIT: It finished, rebooted. Now stuck at the Sprint Spark screen for about 5 minutes now.
EDIT2: It's preparing device for first time use. Looks like the stock made it through.
Just need to know how to flash TWRP at this moment and if you can kindly point me to that HybridX ROM I'd be grateful!
Go to XDA developer (install app from playstore) and the go to sprint samsung galaxy note4 forum under android development and find sprint hybrid x rom thread...at the beginning of thread are all the file downloads you'll need and instructions to install....when you're done give @tx (the developer) a thank you...he's an awesome developer and creates the best roms out there for our devices.

Thanks for the headsup. I managed to get TWRP working and I booted to it.
I'm just confused regarding Deodexed vs Nondeodexed roms. What's the difference? That's my last obstacle in my way.
Again, I appreciate your help.
Odexed is for performance and deodexed is for mods...deodexed alittle slower but highly customizable (themes..5way boot...etc.)...odexed is fast but can't customize.

So unfortunately I rebooted from TWRP after testing that it works and I'm back to the boot loop.. I get the Sprint logo and it keeps rebooting....
When I was in TWRP, before I rebooted it asked it I wanted to installed SuperSU and I agreed. Could that have done it?
Does that mean I need to reflash again?
Possibly incompatible...you flashed a stock rom and tried to add SU without root....reflash stock...and then flash the Hybrid X rom if you want root and SU as they are baked into the rom so when you reboot you'll have everything you need...no need to add anything else.

Looks like I managed to boot into HybridX finally. My only worry at this point is it looks like I lost LTE. I only see 3G connection now.
I'm guess that's what you're referring to with OG5 problems?
EDIT: I can't really tell at this point. Whenever I reboot. I see the LTE logo. I ran the browser real quick managed to load a page fast. But lost the signal and went back to 3G. I'll have to give this a full day of testing before I judge it.
That being said, I got rid of all the Sprint junk and I think the phone runs a bit faster. So thank you for all your help!
You're welcome...and the lte/3g will switch back and forth depending on the available signals inorder to maintain the most stable data connection for your location....not to worry....you probably won't even notice the difference other than the icons

Easy Root for SM-G900T1 klte (Any Device) Lollipop 5.0-5.1.1 or CFAutoRoot btloop fix
Will work on any device. So I was having the same issue and had actually just wasted 2 whole days trying to root my S5 with the 5.1.1 and couldnt seem to find a working download link for the 4.4.2 Gingerbread so being the stubborn ass I am when it comes to hacking and finding faster alt. solutions by like editing script or binary persay. So out of irritation and many times flashing back to my previous firmware lol I had a crazy idea. I used the CF Auto Root and sure enough bootloop, but....then I thought well I need the TWRP recovery if I wanna try and maybe manually update or swap the boot.img or security protocol somehow so I flashed TWRP recovery and all I had to do to end the bootloop was install update from ext sdcard<SuperSU v1.65 update which it just so happens I coincidentally copied and pasted onto my sd card (via sd card adapter in laptop or the mass storage mode when hooked to usb) and boom it booted up and started perfect as if I didnt even have Lollipop 5.1.1 lol made my night/morning at 6 am previously frustrated and about to give up. So to sum it up....
1. Download/Install: Odin v3.10.6
2. Download/OdinFlash: CF Auto Root
3. Download/OdinFlash: openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.0-klte
4. Download: SuperSU-v1.65-update
5. Recovery Reboot
6. Install Update: SuperSU-v1.65-update
slide to flash it, wipe Dalvik cache, reboot normally and wahlah you've now rooted you Galaxy S5 klte on Lollipop 5.1.1 and up (when they update the klte this method should still work guaranteed due to the fact its more of a technical loophole in the firmware than the exploit package itself)
