[Q] xperia z1c lollipop memory leak issue - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is current xperia z1c lollipop still have memory leak issue ?
I used lollipop for 2 days already. and it always restart my game (minimized to background) after I open browser to use google (yeah only 2 recent apps displayed. chrome and game apps).
I hate this because my game need long time and heavy bandwidth at loading screen. I never get this problem when I used kitkat. I heard there's xposed module to fix this memory leak issue but my phone isnt rooted.
or is there a way to return to default OS (kitkat) like when I first bought it ? maybe I'll do this way. reset it to kitkat again. but I dont know how.
thanks.

You can flash stock kitkat with flashtool. I should have stock EU . 157 rom somewhere on my pc and can upload it if you want.
Flashing stock rom is pretty easy. Watch a tutorial or something. I can help you a bit more when back home.
Back to your question. I have no idea I'm still running kitkat as L is still not available in my country.

is it working to use your stock rom at my country ? I thought different country have different kind of rom. not sure about this if this is true or not.
flashing stock rom doesnt need root access, right ? and maybe can I also backup current lollipop OS that I have so I can reflash it when it has been fixed ?.
so far what I like from lollipop is when someone call me, I can still use other app because call notification only use small box on top of my current running app. I like this feature very much.

It depends where do you live. If in EU it should be fine. If not I can find a rom good for your location.
No, flashing custom rom does not require rooted device.
I think you don't have to do the backup as you'll be able to just update it again ( at least I think so)

Yes. But you dont have to backup the OS. You can download the Firmware using the XperiaFirm Tool >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142
And here is how to convert the files >> http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/08/1...re-files-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool-guide/

wow this is nice info. I've just tried using that xperiafirm tool and it shows my country firmware.

Generally you can root your phone without unlocking bootloader. It worked for me, at least on kitkat. I'm not sure what about the Lollipop though.
You should better ask someone else too as I'm not as experienced and don't want to give you false info.
But if there's pre-rooted rom here and it's working for android L you don't have to unlock bootloader to flash it.

btw, if u wish to stay in KK (since xposed in LP wont work perfectly, seen people commenting on that) there is an easy method to root..

okay I can get lollipop with root+xposed (all day tried this. I read some tutorial how to do it properly because this is my 1st time doing something like this. so tired ). although I dont know if xposed wont work perfectly like you said because I only use 3 modules so far. App Settings (keep screen on for game I'm playing) and Fix Lollipop Memory Leak and gravitybox (LP).
what I've done :
- downloaded kitkat 14.4.A.0.157 from XperiFirm. and flashed it using flashtool.
- I've realized .0157 can't be rooted for now. so I've used your link that you gave (Root FW 14.4.A.0.157 (LB/UBL) ).
- after get root access, then I installed recovery using Z1C-lockeddualrecovery2.8.11-RELEASE.installer.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com/
- after that I flashed 14.5.A.0.242_CustomizedFR_Pre-Rooted_Dualrecovery 2.8.10 + Fix Xposed for Lollipop using recovery.
- and flashed Massive debloating and Xposed. links and procedure are also from that pre-rooted rom thread.
so far, no bootloop. dont know if I add some xposed modules again. I heard it will get bootloop if too many xposed modules is installed (?)

Xposed worked perfectly in KK. I tried more than five modules at a time without the bootloop issue. What I fear is the LP. Havent you checked the dev/Q&A thread of the modules?

I dont know that. But I heard that activating some module(s) when some other module(s) is(are) active may cause bootloop in KK.

Hey there, the XperiFirm dev here.
No one answered your question so I will. The answer is: No.
Sony made sure to include the memory leak fix built in (the exact fix that the Xposed module offers) for their Lollipop releases. The Xposed module is pointless.
See attached screenshot. Basically the Xposed module replaces the AOSP function with exactly the same function but with this additional "release()" line. As you can see, Xperia already has this line included.

wow thanks to coming here :victory:
lol. so it's pointless to install that module because they are same thing exactly. time to uninstall.
actually my game is still restarted after I browsing a little. although I still see a lot of free memory in here. before, I thought this is because of that memory leak issue but I'm wrong.
if only there's module that can prevent lollipop refresh/restart/clear my game at memory when I minimized it at background.

I have the same problem, only with audio apps in the background. Pocket Casts, Stitcher and BeyondPod all crash and stop playing when running in the background, after I do something else like load the game Threes. This never used to happen with KitKat. I've also noticed that iplayer radio gets very jerky and skips back and forth by a quarter of a second continuously as soon as I turn off the screen. [edit - I just listened to it for a few minutes with the screen off and it suddenly cut out. I turned the screen on an the app was no longer in my notifications tray]
If Sony fixed this particular memory leak, what's going wrong with my phone? Could it be related to the fact that I've encrypted if for the first time? I'm getting desperate enough to consider factory resetting and losing everything, because listening to podcasts and playing threes is one of my favourite activities. It's not a demanding game for my year old, top of the line phone. My cheap tablet manages it, and so did the phone on KitKat!

I didn't.
My phone is rooted, yes.
As I've read - Xpose requires lot of work, deodex ROM and more ...
For now I don't have time to play this way with my Z1C, it must work almost all the time.
Neither I want deodex ROM, opinions are that odexed is faster.
I opened other question of this sort, curious if something comes up.
When I disabled some Google services - GPS went to defaults = use everything.
I am afraid it may be hardcoded in library, gps-something.so.
Recompiling from sources is even worse considering time spent on it.
I can live with it as is if I have no other options.
Thanx for info.

Oh, my Z1C run stock KK 4.4.4.
After rooting, just download and install xposed as other apps. It does not require anymore of work (deodex or something else).

Hi,
Your rom is very good, but i think, is can to a better if getting to merge into this mod: [YKG] Real Xperia Z3 Super Stereo Sound
I think this sound mod is very-very good, and useful. This add a stereo feature for a loud speaker default (nearly, but better than the default), add a clearer sound quality for headphones, and more..
I think this is can to make a more better EVO 10 version in the future.
Thanks, for the listening, and sorry if my english is not the best
as you guys know, this rom worked perfectly with the 4k mod, it just that z1c phone have poor camera that didnt even look like 20.7mp cam. even the camera is poor when an image is zoom in when compared to others like samsung nexus.
and yes i admit that this is a phone not a camera n its a 2013 phone .
in my case the 4k and timeshift are fully working but the quality isnt near enough as 4k as its should be, mine would say 4k vid can be zoom, crop without any pixelated nor blurry.
in z1c the vid is ridiculously big in size and i would say stock cam is sufficient enough . this rom really really good as far as until today,i just do clean install and until now never had cam freeze, maybe in some phone are having freeze depending on manufacture, again really nice rom for daily use

Network issues (radio/baseband)
Hi there, I think this rom is awesome however I am having trouble getting anything above 2G. I have tried flashing stock .108 and .157 (latest) basebands without wipe etc and still can't get it to work. I think my variant is UK. Can anyone send me a working radio/baseband file please? I think the files within a stock rom FTF file should be amss_fs_2.sin, amss_fs_1/sin, amss_fsg.sin, and loader.sin. If could extract these files that work and share a link with us that would be great!
UPDATE: Downloading an older ROM where its baseband worked in the past for me http://dl.weeaboo.com/Z1Compact/D5503_14.2.A.1.114_Generic%20UK.ftf however I get signal drops.

There's no point in flashing your phone without wiping data, the difference between the kernels of the different builds will leave you with an unstable or badly performing system.
No one has reoprted no network in the KitSlim thread, that I know of. Most problems arise from a bad install where the instructions were not followed and a full wipe not completed. Wipes between firmware builds are essential because of the reason just mentioned.
If you are keen to get the latest firmware then you should head over to IaguCool' s thread on Xperia Firmware Downloader & Checker. Follow the instructuions there. You will need a copy of Flashtool and it'd be good to read the thread on 'how to' as all the instructions are there, rather than jump to the last page and ask, which is what everybody does.
A fresh wipe with the latest baseband is bound to sort your problems, then if that fixes it you can always make you way back to KitSlim

I did do a full wipe you see but you are right, after a full reinstall of the stock .108 I was able to get the network back. I was doing it right all along but for some reason when I was about to download network settings my provider (EE) was not listed. Gave them a ring and they sent me the configuration and now it's working better than previously (no signal drop outs). I know very well how to use the Flashtool and where to get it in addition to the stock roms and no I did not just jumped to the last page and ask. There are people out there who exhaust all possibilities before asking for help you know. No one having issues with network you say? Then perhaps you are the one who needs read or should I say search the thread. I will give you a hint, search for terms "radio" and "baseband" and you will all of them with no clearly stated fix. Had this issue in the past with dual recovery and root flash on stock with locked bootloader; exhausted that thread as well!

Install NDR Utils, that gives you the option to restart into Phils or TWRP.
Flashing .157 via Flashtool is very easy, if done properly (select all the wipe tickboxes, but exclude TA), it will leave you with a blank up to date phone, with none of your data left on it.
Having .108 already on it will not make any difference. Obviously flashing the phone will remove recovery and root.

Ive just picked up one of these tablets and managed to root it and install custom revcovery.
To be honest I think there are zero custom ROM for this device and the supposed Lollipop ROM on those spam sites are bound to be a load of virus. I have seem three or four such 3 part download sites all of which are hidden behind a survey. All the comments on the sites are exactly the same but are posted by different people depending what site you look at which indicates they can't be trusted.
I have tweeted Lenovo to see if they plan a Lollipop update but no reply yet.
I think we need to either need to learn how to port or find a dev that can do it

I checked the link and it is for the S8 smartphone which also as model number A7600. If you have that smartphone you test it at your own risk but if you are talking about a rom for A7600F tablet it won't be compatible.
As Lenovo don't seem to be official updating the A7600F tablet im guessing we need a custom rom. Unfortunately I don't think it's that popular a tablet so won't pull in developers and regrettably I'm not skilled enough to even know where to start.

I received the s8 a7600 with android 5.0 - it looks like that OS is just installed by seller, with multiple application that are a huge adware/spam generators. I tried to remove all (root/remove apps), but it destroys a little the functionality (dialer has opacity - not so easy to find what is going on, camera not working at all). But generally works. If anyone has skills - I am sure it can be easy fixed (for example install 3rdparty dialer - but that one from lenovo is pretty fine). But I think I will update phone with stock ROM, but I need to find how to do that safely and be sure I can back to the actual software...

I used the guide at this link and the download for the covery is halfway through the walkthrough

Its pretty long winded but it worked for me. As you will be using your own device its at your own risk if you decide to use the link
Cheers

A bit of a necro here ...
Yep, it is a long-winded guide. I wrote everything as best I could just in case.
I'd be surprised if more than 5 people are still looking to root this device. But for those folks, I updated the guide tonight.
I hadn't used the tablet much until this past week, my phone was doing better and I was only using the tablet for streaming videos as a portable TV. However my phone died and I finally got around to re-rooting the tablet (I has lost root after applying an OTA update about a year ago).
And no, there are not any custom ROMs ... no Lollipop ... no Marshmallow ... never Nougat ... for this tablet. This guide is PURELY for getting root on 4.4.
That said, here is the short version ... this MAY work on a never-rooted A10 A7600F ... it may only work to REFRESH the root. I have no good way of knowing as there isn't a chance in hell I'm going to revert everything to stock to find out
Glad to know at least 10 people got help from the guide.
UPDATE 9/22/2016:
Revised Steps are simple:
* Download Kingo Root (not King Root, that failed) APK version for Android.
* Run Kingo Root.
* If it fails, reboot, and try again (mine failed the first time)
* Assuming Kingo Root worked the second time (if not, see the original detailed steps below) ... DON'T REBOOT yet (when I did this, the root disappeared, so I had to run Kingo Root a 3rd time)
* Install a Root Checker and verify root access
* Install (first time) or uninstall and re-install (updating is fine if yours was out of date) SuperSU by Chainfire (other SuperSU may or may not work, Chainfire worked for me)
REBOOT
* Re-run Root Checker to verify root access (don't run Kingo Root before this) ... it should be using SuperSU to grant root, NOT Kingo
* If rooted, uninstall Kingo Root
* REBOOT
* Re-run Root Checker to make sure SuperSU continued to work after removing Kingo Root.

There are multiple "A7600" devices out there. This is specifically for the A7600F, aka the A10. Different device, ROMs not compatible with other A7600 devices. Lenovo can burn in hell both for their lack of updates as well as their naming conventions.
Hi all,
I have ported a CM13 ROM to this device to bring us to Android 6.0.1. if anyone is interested I will start a thread for and provide instructions and a link later today.

Questions to experienced rooted LG G3 users

So first of all, i've been reading threads on XDA for the pas few years whenever i need to look something up that has to do with android or so but never actually posted myself. I'm making this thread because i couldn't find the answer i want. Excuse me if I don't do this following the guidelines right or anything.
So i want to root my LG G3 because i've rooted my previous phones (Galaxy S and Nexus 4) as well and i liked the roms i was flashing. I didn't really care about missing touchwiz' features when flashing a new rom and Nexus is already running stock so I wasn't worried about that either.
The question is for me now: What LG features will I miss when flashing another rom (E.g. CM12, ParanoidAndroid...) So in terms of the features that LG has put in their skin itself. Also what other remarkable changes will happen? Performance changes? And will I be able to use my camera the original way?
I hope any of you can help me out with this question and enlighten me a bit more.
Thanks in advance!
I can sum up a bit of lost features:
- The beautiful LG UI
- LG stock apps ( can be ported tho )
- Knock code
- Navigation button hide per-app settings

Will the camera work as usual if you'd download the camera apk? For example laser focus and the same quality as it normally should be? Because I don't like the google camera app.
And also, would you recommend flashing a different rom?

I'm the same addicted as you to the lovely LG G3 rom but i wanted more geeky feeling so i flashed CloudyG3 which is an improved stock rom which is still using the G3 firmware but alot faster and more options available.
I can only recommend you to use that rom since others were not that good imo.
Also i don't know about the camera thing but i assume it's the same on CloudyG3 rom.

Yes i would recommend KingoRoot for PC but you have to uncheck all the software they suggest you to install along the root process, i did not had any problems with Kingo Root but i've heard people complaining about it.
One click root applications like Towelroot, Framaroot and Stumproot does not work anymore on Lollipop stock roms since they were patched by LG.
I usually prefer to use oneclick root apps to avoid using my PC for little tasks + it's alot faster and easier.
So i suggest you to root it with Kingo Root using a PC.
And regular Xposed does not work yet on Lollipop but the Xposed Alpha version ( which you can find on XDA search ) does work perfectly.

Questions about rooting from a noob.

Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying an LG G4 because it's gotten very cheap now and I want to use it as my daily driver.
I'll be getting the international version and I want to root my phone before properly setting it up. The reason for this is that I want xposed to make some ui changes as I feel the G4's ui is horrible (no offence). I've heard I'll need a custom kernel, twrp recovery, unlocked bootloader and root access.
I've also heard that with custom roms you lose functionality to things such as the IR blaster and the amazing camera app and all its settings. Is that true? If that is the case, I'd rather keep on stock rom with xposed helping me make the UI bearable.
My question is what would I exactly need to do? (with kernels, recovery, bootloaders etc I have only rooted a device once and it was 4 years ago so I have forgotten the basics plus it seems the whole process has become very tough now) The only end product I want is to run the xposed while retaining the IR blaster functionality and the camera app etc.
I have tried going through some videos on youtube but I found them vague, a little different from what I wanted or I saw a few comments talking about how the phone was bricked or stuck in bootloop.

Hi buddy , if your phone comes and it's on lollipop the type in Google " root lg g4 lollipop xda " but if it arrives on marshmallow then type " root lg g4 marshmallow xda " as for losing functions like the IR blaster and camera , I'm using latest Genisys ROM marshmallow version with the Imperium kernel and I have all my features still working they will only stop working if you flash a ROM which isn't based on LG for example Cyanogen or blisspop things like that....
If I have helped please leave a thumbs up!

Hi, thanks for the reply! How is the performance compared to the stock rom? What other benefits does a g4 based rom give?
Also, I still find the process a little confusing. Am I supposed to root first, unlock bootloader or install a recovery. Also what are the chances of bricking my phone?

Well first of all the performance depends there are options when installing different kernels which will give you better speed or better battery life the choices will be written in the kernel or ROMs description , the other benefits are debloated ROMs which means the software on the phone has been reduced to free up space and get rid of useless stuff and other little UI tweaks it just depends which ROM you choose as for the process you unlock your bootloader first via lg devs official site then depending on how you root will depend when you root it I'll explain , if your phone arrives and its on lollipop then use low effort root but if it comes and its on marshmallow then you use systemless root method and I won't bull**** ya pal the chances of messing your phone up is about 30 percent just make sure you follow every single step very carefully , the reason I said 30 percent is because if you're on lollipop then it's easier in my opinion to restore your phone by flashing the .kdz stock file for your phone ( the .kdz will make your phone like you bought it)
If my posts have helped please leave a thumbs up!

What are the advantages of the rom that you're using?
30 percent sounds like a lot, but are you saying that I can restore my phone even if I mess up the process?
Also can you link me to the methods?
The advantages of the ROM I'm using is good battery life with a good balanced performance also it has the LG G5 apps built in to it , and yes you can restore your phone as for the links to the methods I'm chatting to you on my tablet so gathering all the links would be quite hard they are easily found though for example if you are searching for low effort root then just type it in Google followed by xda so it looks like low effort root method xda , if you really want the links then I'll boot up my PC in the morning and I'll find them all for you , it's night time where I am so I'm going to bed soon I'll check your post though in the morning in case you have any more questions and as always please leave a thumbs up I greatly appreciate it , thanks buddy....

No problem mate, I found the link to the low effort btw.
So I'll have to unlock bootloader via the lg website first? then I'll have to install a custom recovery and then root? (or root and then install custom recovery?)
Also I was going through the thread of the rom you're using, and I saw the screenshots and they were pretty much the same as the lg ui (which I'm trying to run away from). Basically what I want is a stock android ui without losing the core functionality like the IR blaster and the camera app, knock code etc.
A question I have is do I have to change the kernel etc while rooting my device or can I just use the stock kernel?
I just did all of these things this morning. I posted my steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/howto-complete-guide-to-unlock-twrp-t3370003
I personally stopped installing custom ROMs since Xposed. It lets use keep the phone as it is out of the box but add in just the changes we want. With many custom ROMs, there are always bugs so you'll have to update them and that can mean resetting your device. You then have to install all your apps and settings again.
I tried to make the above guide as noob friendly as possible and it hopefully shouldn't require any reading outside of the thread.
