Screen issues - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

SO only after having my T705Y for only a couple days, not even a week that there are 2 black spots on the screen. No idea where these came from. My tablet has always had a case and screen protector on it so could this be factory defective? Should I return it and get a refund?

Have you tried a simple reset to factory settings, have you flashed or rooted your tablet.
John.

I think your screen is defective. The black parts are the normal parts. There is a thread somewhere on the forum regarding the problem.

My tablet is running a version of CyanogenMod 12.1 and i'm trying to download the stock firmware to set it back to factory so maybe I can return it.

So the black parts are normal and the other parts of the screen are defective? Do you have a link to the thread? Thank you.

So here's a clearer photo

So I've read that this is known as the Mura effect and every OLED type panel has it. SO should I return it in the hope that the one they exchange it for has a better screen?

I'm not sure if I should. Especially if i get one with the exact same problem considering this is on majority of the 8.4

Before flashing CM on it, did it have the black spots?
Don't forget the thanks button, if I helped you.

So 2 of my friends have the same tablet and they have the same problem. I also went to the store to exchange it and they let me look at the screen before I choose one and they also have the same problem. So this is something related to alot of the tab s 8.4.

Well. .. yes. I have never seen any problem with the 10.5 one. I'm unsure what to do now since the store you went to have all the same issue.

I'm just gonna stick with it. Until it becomes obsolete. Its only noticeable on greyish screens.

Seems like there's a lot that can go wrong with this screen. Now i'm worried of Burn in on my screen but My brightness is always at 50%

This. I used to have an E4GT and then I got the YSOD and 5 minutes later my phone exploded, shrapnel flying everywhere. Still have a piece of the screen lodged in my groin, doctors said they can't take it out because the risk of losing my junk was too high. Was going to replace it but honestly, it's not worth the risk. Decided to play it safe and got an iPhone 4S instead.
Be careful OP, the YSOD is serious sh*t.

A yellow tint over the screen can be two things. Either your ribbon cable connecting your screen to the board is loose or damaged (new screen will fix the problem) or the GPU on your board was overheating (whole new phone if it burns up). Are you running any custom ROMs? What were you doing when it happened? Have you dropped your phone?

It happened about 20 mins. after using odin to go to stock ek02 I was reading an article in wikipedia and all of a sudden everything had a yellow tint I thought it might just be the site but, then I found it was the entire phone screen. I wasn't doing anything that could have overloaded the gpu and, I haven't dropped my phone at all. After a quick google search I found that it could be a software problem since some other people have also had this problem but, it could also be a defect with the screen.... If you have any ideas please let me know.

Also it went away after a minute or so and, has not come back. I have had no problems with anything rendering from the gpu other then this quick glitch.

[Q] Defect or not?

Hey everyone, I already used the search funtion, however I wasnt able to find a thread matching my problem.
I've got my 3rd HOX now, the first 2 were HT23.. - phones, both had that screen-flickering-problem. My 3rd one, a HT24 - version, doesn't have that problem at all, however there is some serious light bleeding on the bottom, you can see the the backlight - LEDs.. I've got some Photos for you:

Does anyone of you has the same problem, is this normal, or should I get a replacement?
Thanks in advantage
EDIT: It may not look that annoying in the pictures, however, in reality, you can see these spots very, very well..
Does noone have this problem too?
Mine has none of that problem, mine is an ht23 as well, been faultless.
i would ask for a replacement.

My friend has had this issue. Get it replaced mate. I have a weird issue with a small yellow smear on the screen that seems to be fading. Phone is perfect apart from this. You can only see it if you are on a white screen. Its weird.

Get this for bad, before my One X I replaced 3 Sony Xperia S phones and in the end they gave me a HTC One X that has a gsensor failure. This new one seems ok apart from the small yellow smear that seems to be fading. So I am happy now.
Smart phones really need better testing before release to be honest.

You're so right!
So I'll replace mine, however, I'm going to do it with some more intelligent timing.
I got my 3rd Unit from Amazon on April 27th. Due to Amazon's 30-Day replacement-rule, I can ask for a replacement till May 27th.
So if I get my replacement on May 25th or somewhat, chances of getting a May-Device, which should be "perfect" after 2 months of production with mistakes, are good..
I think you are making a very wise decision there, also with luck you may even have a newer firmware on it too.

Can anyone let me know how this can be fixed?
My phone is not under warranty so no option of replacement.
AW: Display Issues - Layers
It's something like a "amoled" feature. My gnex has the keyboard visible on a white background. Someone made an app that turned the brightness to 100% on a white background, that fixed it for some days/months.

The issue is noticeable even at 100% brightness.

you cannot fix your issue with software. END OF STORY.
you can do a replacement, but you would have to pay for it. either pay someone to do it, or replace it yourself.

it might. you also might get another bad screen.
no idea. amazon/ebay would be a good place to start for the screen by itself.
Hey. You have a screen burn. Try and get the screen replaced from a gray market shop. This is an issue with AMOLED screens. If you keep something on for too long, it creates an image burn on the screen.

Green/White vertical line on screen

Hi guys,
Lately, I've noticed a white line appearing on my screen it goes from the bottom to the top. That was like a few weeks ago. Suddenly one day it went off. Yesterday, the line came back again the line is white when the device is in use and when I reboot it, it's green. Any idea? I'm running Cm 10.1 last build. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Try a different ROM. If it persists it sounds like a ribbon cable problem.

My nexus 5x screen is flickering like anything. can some one please help me what might be the issue. Is there fix for this by restoring to a factory image ? is this issue because of any hardware failure ?

Does the screen work outside the OS. In recovery for example?
I had a similar problem on a RedMi Note 3G after I applied too much pressure on the screen, now, I can't say if is exactly the same but if, then yes, it is hardware.
What did you do prior to this? Also can you get to recovery?
Your screen is damaged! Happens with me months ago while running, My sweat did this. My solution was a screen replacement
No it is not working any where. Not even in recovery. I tried to install a RR Rom using TWRP and when i tried to reboot after patching the rom, The screen started flickering. I thought it might be OS issue but i tried everything. I tried to restore to Stock OS & stock recovery using different tools but still I can't get the display properly.
Also my phone fell down while i was talking from my shoulder height. Nut that was a day before this happened.

Or look look on the aliexpress, you may find it even cheaper than on ebay
Check Amazon for omnirepair part. That's who I used for mine and they are top notch. And they provide decent tool set and support that makes job much easier. Slightly more expensive but with it in my opinion. I've had no issues except one spot that is slightly brighter.
